Is anyone watching the match of Bangladesh Under-19 Youth? Looking at their performance, it seems that they are very talented. They will lead the Bangladesh national team in the future if they are managed properly by the board.
Bangladesh U-19 team is playing against Afghanistan U-19 team. Bangladesh also won the previous match. In today's match, Afghanistan won the toss and decided to bat. They lost all their wickets to collect only 101 runs. For Bangladesh, Naimur Rahman has taken 4 wickets with only 14 runs in 10 overs.

I am not surprised by the poor performance from Afghanistan, because a lot of turmoil is now ongoing in that country. The players are not being able to concentrate fully on the game I guess. But both the matches were quite close. And Bangladesh batting looks very brittle. In the first match, they managed a total of only 154 runs, while in the second they lost 7 wickets while chasing 102. Afghan spinners (Shahidullah Hasani, Izharulhaq Naveed) caused a lot of issues for the Bangladesh batsmen. Three more ODIs remain. Let's see how Bangladesh fares in them.

David Malan, Johny Bairstow and Chris Woakes have decided they won't be going for IPL 2021 2nd half to Dubai, they have cited reasons that they want to spend some time with family before world cup and Ashes but after all we all know that this is a consequence of India cancelling the 5th test against England, I thought ECB Would directly make a stern decision regarding this but they rather took the secret way by forcing their players to Don't go for IPL to avenge what Indian did. Now I personally think that IPL won't be much affected by this rather it would be English players who would lose a lot on money and I am not sure their board will reimburse them for this.

I am not sure how this is going to be some sort of revenge. The England players are going to be replaced by other overseas players, and the IPL will go ahead as planned. The players themselves are going to lose fat paychecks. And the ECB as well, since they are supposed to receive 10% royalty payment for each player from the IPL board. And in the long run also, the franchises may prefer players from other countries, if the ECB has a history of making their national players unavailable for such franchise leagues.

Ben Stokes took his name out from the T-20 WC, Ashes and IPL due to mental health concern.Archer is injured and not playing any tournament this year. Buttler also pulled out of the 2nd phase of IPL couple of months back when he and his wife were expecting their second kid. Jonny Bairstow and David Malan are eying spot in the Ashes / T-20 team so going through 3 bubbles back to back is tough task. Don't know about Woakes. So overall is completely understandable from players point of view.

Still feel bad about Stokes. He was at his peak, and then suddenly he has to deal with issues other than cricket. He's just 30 years old, so hopefully he can make a comeback in next year's IPL and get a few millions of USD in his pocket. Same for Archer as well. He got hit by injury when he was at peak form. In the end, anyway it is the player who needs to decide about it. In some instances they may think that cementing a spot in the national team is going to be more beneficial in the long run, when compared to playing in the IPL.
324  Economy / Economics / Re: BTC is helping out Cubans and Venezuelans on: September 10, 2021, 08:18:27 AM
The case of Venezuela is very different because most Venezuelans do not know much about BTC, it is only a part of the population and it is not representative, however, if it has helped a lot to those who know, the case of Cuba is similar, but it should be noted that the country has many restrictions on both the internet and equipment, as well as IP restrictions. If we take into account that the country now has internet, the use of the VPN is the day-to-day of Cubans, it is the only way to be able to bypass the restrictions and be careful that they cannot be tracked.

Well... I am surprised.. I have heard that millions of Venezuelans use Bitcoin, because it offers double protection from confiscation by the authorities, as well as protection from hyperinflation. And so far the regime has tolerated Bitcoin usage to some degree (also, there have been unconfirmed reports that the regime itself is using Bitcoin as a tool to circumvent the sanctions. I don't know much about the case in Cuba. But in recent times, I have hard about increasing usage of Bitcoin from that country as well.
325  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: September 10, 2021, 07:36:22 AM
I would like to say that this series is completely controlled by the Indian bowlers. It was expected of them that they would bowl well. But the fact that they batted brilliantly, and assisted the team by collecting runs at the required time, was basically the turning point of the match. England did not expect the Indian bowlers are can batted so well.

If players like Bumrah and Shami are able to build 100 run partnership, then it shows the England bowlers in poor light. If I am not wrong, JSRAW already made a post on what happened back then. England bowlers wanted revenge for the barrage of bouncers Bumrah delivered on Anderson, and they were not trying to take his wicket. And when they realized their mistake, it was too late. Just shows what went wrong for England - tactics, captaincy, temperament, discipline.etc. Even if Archer was available, I think he would have made zero impact.
326  Economy / Economics / Re: El Salvador has just bought it’s first 200 coins on: September 09, 2021, 11:05:29 AM
You did not get my idea, because my English is far from being perfect. Sorry.

I was trying to say, that the amount El Salvador has bought was too small for such country. If I'm not mistaken, they promised to distribute an equivalent of $30 in BTC is not enough to distribute promised amount to 6.5 millions citizens. By mentioning trading volume I wanted to show that while whole country or nation makes a purchase, regular traders buys similar amount in just 15min. In other words, regular traders only on Binance have identical buying power as a whole country.

People mention that total amount bought is 500 BTC. First batch has bought with the price $50k, second @ $45-47k probably. They did not give time for market to recover from recent drop.

OK.. got it now.

Nayib Bukele had stated that El Salvador would require around $225 million worth of BTC, if the government wants to airdrop $30 to each of the adults. I think they have purchased $25 million worth of coins so far, so that is only around 1/9th of the required amount. And reports indicate that despite some well publicized protests sponsored by the opposition, the implementation has been very smooth. Locals in San Salvador are reporting that a lot of people are paying with the Chivo wallet for their coffee and fast-food. Actually I was worried that there will be some technical snags or other issue which will then be weaponized by the media, but nothing of that sort has happened yet.
327  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: September 09, 2021, 10:46:58 AM
Both teams have vulnerabilities and capable of making comeback so its hard to predict.

England batting line up is dependent on Root, Indians doing good so far despite their out of form middle order but we have seen fair amount of batting collapse in this series so both teams are equally shit against each others lethal bowling lineup. England and India are competitive when bowl start to move but when sun comes up or pitch becomes flat Indian bowlers and batters are dominating as we have witnessed in the last game.

A lot of questions have been raised about England's batting and their overdependence on Joe Root. But at the same time, their bowling has mostly escaped scrutiny. England bowlers were good in patches, but failed completely at crucial stages of the match. On multiple occasions, they allowed the Indian lower order batsmen to make 80-90 run stands. They lack a bowler who can finis the tail quickly. I guess the absence of Archer and Stokes is the reason. But the current bunch of bowlers are completely ineffective against the Indian lower order batsmen.

I was checking the schedule of the cricket match held today. The Mozambique Women vs Rwanda Women match of ICC Women's T20 World Cup Africa Region Qualifier is being held at the moment. The funny thing is that Mozambique Women collected only 11 runs and lost 6 wickets. 8 out of 11 runs scored by Mozambique Women has been extra. Although this is the first time I see the names of these two teams.

Edit : Any other wicket. Mozambique Women's score is 11/7

Mozambique is a very weak team, when compared to established teams like Kenya and Namibia. A total of 11 teams are taking part in the Africa qualifiers (including Zimbabwe), and I am glad that the African teams are all fielding 100% native players unlike the case with Europe and Americas. Only one team will progress to the next stage (2022 ICC Women's World Twenty20 Qualifier), and the top 2 teams from that tournament will qualify for the 2023 ICC Women's T20 World Cup. I would have liked a few more slots, but the ICC is not much interested in growing the game.
329  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When will its price start being stabilized? on: September 09, 2021, 07:58:58 AM
Bitcoin's price will never be stabilized. There will always be things such as news posts, scandals, influencers which will affect Bitcoin's price. I'm pretty sure it would be absolutely impossible to stabilize Bitcoin's price.

If the acceptability increases, then at some point the prices have to stabilize. Also, the proportion of short-term investors and day traders need to decline and that of long-term investors need to increase. Gold is extremely stable, because 95% or more of the market cap is held as long-term investment. The same figure for Bitcoin would be less than 50%. That means that the proportion available for short-term trading is tens of times higher than the case with gold. And the volatility largely results from this fact.

I am not sure by which standard you view things, if you are not aware of it in 2019 Dhoni scored 600 runs at an average of 60 in ODI and you think he was not in form  Roll Eyes. In T20 he averaged 43.33 in 2019 but he just played 5 matches. In the IPL i saw his swinging hard and scoring his patented six in this years IPL and in the last one even though they had a dismal performance as a team and how can you say he was not in form.

Dhoni for sure averaged 43.33 in 2019. But his strike rate was a dismal 116. When you bat down the order, the expectation is to have a strike rate of 160-170. 116 is pathetic, especially while playing in Indian conditions. And remember IPL 2020? There were occasions when CSK lost the matches due to his slow batting. One innings that come to my mind was the match against Australia at Visakhapatnam. Dhoni made 29 not out from 37 balls. India were 80/3 after 10 overs, but made only 126/7 in 20 overs (India lost the match, obviously).

Indian squad for the T-20 WC

Quote
TEAM - Virat Kohli (Capt), Rohit Sharma (vc), KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (wk), Ishan Kishan (wk), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Rahul Chahar, Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, Varun Chakravarthy, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohd Shami.

Stand by/Reserve : Shreyas Iyer, Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar

Dhoni also joining the team but as a Mentor, good move.
https://twitter.com/BCCI/status/1435629154565824515

Dhoni's inclusion as the mentor will be helpful. But I don't know how the other senior players (Kohli, Rohit, Hardik.etc) would react to that. That said, there are no big surprises here. They have gone for the tried and tested. I would have liked Shreyas Iyer included in the main squad (not as reserve), but I guess he hasn't recovered completely from the injury. Glad for Ishan Kishan. He deserved a spot in the squad (but still getting in to the final XI will be difficult). Lot of competition for the middle order - SKY, Kishan, Pant, Hardik, Jadeja.etc.
332  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Taliban are highly unlikely to change on: September 08, 2021, 03:40:12 PM
I doubt they will change much though they have given us plenty of amusements these past weeks. Like when they were seen enjoying themselves in an amusement park and then they made a complete 180 and banned such entertainments, along music and stuff.

Something more amusing is that they have an official Twitter while Trump is banned from the platform.

Twitter is essentially a platform to spread far-left and Islamist viewpoints. They have banned right-wing users like Trump, but they are perfectly OK with terrorists such as Taliban, ISIS, Hamas and Hezbollah. And it will be foolish to expect Taliban to be any different from what they were in 1996-2001. There seems to be some internal differences within the Taliban. But these differences are not related to the interpretation of the Sharia law, but related to the clan and tribal representation. The left-wing has been trying really hard in the last few weeks to convince others that the new Taliban is "reformed Taliban" and different from the Taliban of 1996-01, but ground reports suggests that they have on the other hand become more brutal and repressive.
333  Economy / Economics / Re: BTC is helping out Cubans and Venezuelans on: September 08, 2021, 03:31:59 PM
By reading the experience you have in your country it makes me believe bitcoin alone isn't the solution for anything. In some cases crypto currencies can be even positive for the corrupt opressive government, as you mentioned state's agents ask for a piece of cake from crypto miners or steal the mining equipments from non registered miners. Furthermore, crypto helps the economy to not entirely collapse, what consequently calm down citizens and makes the regime lasts longer.

If corruption isn't fought in all its spheres in a society, with or without bitcoin, people will remain slaves of tyrants who take advantage of "the law of the strongest", or in this case "the law of the most corrupt" seems to fits better.

No one actually claimed that Bitcoin is the ultimate solution for all the issues in Cuba and Venezuela. The point is that Bitcoin is helping in some way, for the people in these countries to survive. The regime is trying to confiscate assets from wealthy people, and Bitcoin represents one of the few available means to prevent that (or at least reduce the possibility). On top of that, Bitcoin (despite it's volatility) is useful as a store of value. Since the national currencies in these countries are heavily manipulated, Bitcoin is useful for that purpose.
334  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Next Country to accept bitcoins is legal tender? on: September 08, 2021, 03:03:24 PM
I've read some media, which says there are several countries that want to legalize bitcoin, including small countries, such as Central America, while developed countries like Europe have no plans to legalize bitcoin, only small countries want to legalize bitcoin, but it's just a draft, so if for now there is no country that has followed the steps of el salvador..

Form the mainstream media, I have heard rumors about the following countries (listed in the order of most probable to the least probable):

1. Panama
2. Malta
3. Paraguay
4. Venezuela
5. Nicaragua
6. Argentina
7. Brazil
8. Cyprus
9. Mexico

For Panama, check this article:
https://finance.yahoo.com/news/panama-touts-bitcoin-ethereum-crypto-132554068.html

Unfortunately, almost all of these countries are located in Latin America (with the exception of Malta and Cyprus). Asian nations remain hostile to Bitcoin (including the two most populous ones - India and China), and although larger EU nations such as Germany and France are more pro-Bitcoin, gaining status as legal tender is a long way off.
335  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Reasons for newbies loss in bitcoin on: September 08, 2021, 02:50:49 PM
Mostly these 3 things happen -

1. They invest in a Ponzi and their company runs away with their money.
2. They use some free wallet and again the company run away with their money.
3. They install some trojan through a program they're unaware of and the hacker steals their bitcoins.

There could be many possibilities but I thought it's better to post easy-to-understand ones.

I agree with all three points, but I believe that the no.1 reason is carelessness. I have heard about numerous instances when newbies lost their coins, due to careless handling. In some cases, they purchase a hardware wallet and store their coins in it. They forget to keep backup of this wallet and if the wallet is lost, then all the coins are gone. In other cases, they never bother to activate 2FA or email confirmation in their online wallet. Such wallets are like easy pickings for the hackers and crypto thieves.
336  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-08-21] Inside Afghanistan's cryptocurrency underground as the country plu on: September 08, 2021, 02:24:56 PM
The things you listed are really horrible acts of violence, and certainly people who did them are terrorists. The question is whether Taliban is going to consider such acts unlawful, and severely punish the terrorists? We'll see about that in the nearest future, but right now we can't say for sure.

I think you are confused. These acts were done by the Taliban, and not by some other terrorist group. And you want the Taliban to condemn their own actions? These people want to live in the stone age. Although they don't want to openly proclaim that they want to go back to the 7th century, that is their intention (the ISIS on the other hand openly state that they want to go back to the 7th century). You guys are being overly optimistic about the Taliban allowing cryptocurrency usage. When they have banned songs and movies, how they are going to allow cryptocurrency?
337  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: September 08, 2021, 02:01:51 PM
Yeah, Bangladesh won the match and the series too. It was a low scoring match, but competitive. Making the runs was tough in that field. Captain Mahmudullah batted with responsibility. He made it possible to win the match. Nasum & Mustafizur bowled nicely today. Bangladesh team playing well in their home condition. I'm wondering how people will take it, If they can't perform in the same way in upcoming T20 world cup. The pitch and filed condition won't be same in world cup venue.

While making 96 runs, Bangladesh took 19.1 overs and lost 4 wickets. Just shows how bad the pitch was. New Zealand should not feel disheartened. The pitch was not of international quality and in all probability the ICC will be looking in to this. Some of the younger NZ players performed really well. William Young made a total of 93 runs in 4 matches so far, in some of the most difficult conditions. However, other promising youngsters failed completely in this series (Rachin Ravindra, Finn Allen.etc).
338  Economy / Speculation / Re: The bitcoin market just gifted the El Salvadorians 15% discount on: September 08, 2021, 01:37:06 PM
Nope, they were supposed to get $30 in bitcoin, so right now they didn't get a discount but a 10% shave since the airdrop was calculated at 52k, those 0.00057 are now worth 27$.

Really ain't that bad if we're just looking number wise, but freakin mainstream media is going to take this opportunity to once again crap on Bitcoin that's for sure. "Bitcoin airdrop to El Salvadorians immediately dropped 10% in value" or some crap.

I doubt it. The SEC vs Coinbase case is now likely to dominate all attention.

The Coinbase issue is dominating crypto-related news, but mainstream media never misses an opportunity to attack Bitcoin. So I don't think that they will sideline this news. The media will highlight the 10% drop by publishing the news in front page. But later this year, when Bitcoin jumps by 20% or 30%, they will never mention that the $30 airdrop has grown in value to $40. And regarding the SEC, the CEO of Coinbase (Brian Armstrong) has issued a strong statement related to the blackmail tactics used by the former.
339  Economy / Economics / Re: El Salvador has just bought it’s first 200 coins on: September 08, 2021, 01:27:14 PM
I must say that it was no the best time for El Salvador to buy these 200 BTC. I am somehow sure that they have bought it for a much higher price than Bitcoin cost on September 8 2021. And after seeing such price decline, peoples believe in Bitcoin might be wrong.
And the number of 200 BTC seems small to me, in comparison to a whole country. Only 200 BTC, that is just a 10-15min trading volume on Binance exchange for example.

LOL.. first you say that this was not the right time to purchase BTC. And then you say that the volume was not enough. Both the statements contradict each other. If the timing is not right, then it makes sense to purchase smaller amounts. El Salvador doesn't want to follow the model set by Tesla ($1.5 billion purchase in a few days). They want to purchase BTC at regular intervals, in small quantities. And this reduces the risk of incurring a loss, in case the exchange rates nosedive at some point in the future.
340  Economy / Economics / Re: El Salvador Bitcoin payment option on: September 08, 2021, 01:17:12 PM
Yes, it's mandatory and all the receive/keep is just mumbo jumbo trying to paint an excuse on forcing somebody to do a thing while claiming they have the liberty of choice.

You have to accept bitcoin payments, that's the end of it, a business that was before only cash, no cc, no cheques nothing suddenly is forced to accept payment and deal with both crypto and digital fiat, as they will have to go through the government rules to withdraw the converted fiat, even if they stay don't choose the bitcoin option. This unless this magical conversion tool somehow prints paper money out of your phone.

Yeah.. in many of the developing nations, there are shops which accept payments only in physical cash. There are different reasons for doing so, but the most common one is to avoid taxes. Obviously if they start accepting Bitcoin payments, then this won't be possible anymore. I am not in favor of tax evasion, but very small scale shops (those with daily turnover of less than $50 or so), can be excluded from this requirement. Nowadays banks also charge a lot, and for small scale merchants the charges can be extortive.
