3221  Economy / Economics / Re: Cryptocurrency Investors Try to Turn Private Islands Into Blockchain Utopias on: January 13, 2022, 10:22:16 PM
There have been tries of "pure cyrpto place" for years, hell it was even an idea way early in bitcoins life and its 2022 and it is still a topic. Let's face the fact that it will eventually happen one day, some crazy rich person will give it a shot, it will fail, and that's about it.

This is not a great idea, just leave it be, just live the world we always live but instead of stocks or forex or anything like that, invest into crypto and instead of 40 years, you will retire in 20 years (probably) by keep putting money aside every month into a crypto portfolio and growing it. That's it, that is all people should do at this point, we are not even using them to buy something most of the time, it just became investment.
3222  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: January 13, 2022, 10:02:03 PM
Nets is as great as it was predicted at the start of the season and they now added Kyrie into that line up which means they are only going to get better. However, Lakers are going even worse, I do not know what to say about them, they are definitely not doing as well as hoped for to be fair. I mean the reality is that they are 8th seed right now and there is no excuse for that right now at all. Their lack of passion for the game, the insane amount of turnovers, the huge problems of big names missing shots (yes westbrook) it all comes down to negative issues.

I mean if they didn't get westbrook and kept rondo instead, they would have probably done better for the season if you ask me. Or get Derozan instead, he was free agent and Bulls got him and see how they are doing a lot better this season thanks to him, Lakers could have used him. Or better yet, get a shooter, danny green, hield, or anyone like that would have been awesome.
3223  Economy / Economics / Re: 12% of First-Time Homebuyers Say Selling Crypto Helped Save for Down Payment on: January 13, 2022, 07:44:27 PM
I would say it is not really that shocking, people did made some great profits this year so the increase in 2021 definitely makes sense because of all that extra income. Plus, the real estate investment is the most logical investment in the entire world if you do not own a house. Think about it, which one would you rather, keep paying rent, or no rent? It is not risky neither, you buy a house, you go in, and you start living there, end of story.

If you are investing into a house for price then you may have a problem but this isn't even like that, this is about how you just live in there so the value doesn't even matter. So, I would say that it is definitely a good investment and all these extra crypto profits in 2021 found a great home to go to.
3224  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The first NFT rug pull of 2022 on: January 13, 2022, 06:59:42 PM
It was always obvious that some projects will always turn out to be a scammer. Let me tell you this much, for around 1-2 thousand dollars you could get everything you need for an NFT project in design, and paying another 1-2k for some developer to do it as well if you want to. This will result with you getting it done for something around 3-4k range at the very best and you are done.

Spend another 5-6k dollars for all the advertisements on twitter and telegram groups? You will be reaching to 10k+ people at the very least, maybe even more, give out like 10-20 of them for free to get another 3-5k more people. So you have just spent 10k dollars at the very most, and managed to build a whole NFT project that reached to 50k+ people and followed by 10-20k people. How could there not be any scam projects? It is too easy to convince people these days.
3225  Economy / Economics / Re: If crypto trades are done off-chain, they are not real. The Economics of CEX's. on: January 12, 2022, 10:10:27 PM
This is 100% true, you are also now the owner of your own money neither. We do not have 100% guarantee that even a huge company like Binance can't just take our crypto and leave. We had hundreds of thousands of bitcoins stolen from mt.gox and we still didn't learn from it.

Dex is the way to go and you should own your own crypto and nobody else should keep it. With places like Binance not only we are not actually trading, we are just doing a digital moving around just like banks do, but we are also not in the control of what happens to our crypto neither, they could do anything they want to it and all we have to do is watch it. All these are the biggest troubles involved with centralized exchanges and for some reason people are not looking into this as a problem. I see it as a problem and have a little of all my coins in there, rest is in metamask and few other places.
3226  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin is for everyone but not everyone will be for Bitcoin on: January 12, 2022, 09:21:24 PM
Poor people are certainly living like this, without financial planning and management, and are not open minded so they live a life with limited opportunities. No wonder why they are not making progress in their lives particularly in their financial aspects. Although we cannot blame them because they have limited income, but if they can be more open minded and have positive mindset to make good progress and development, i think they will live a life that is more reasonable.
To victim shame poor people is not really a smart way to approach this problem. There are two reasons for this, either they were not shown how to handle finances, so all they have seen from their surroundings is what they do themselves, or they are not capable of making a lot of money so they are living dirt poor even without spending something extra.

Imagine a stupid person, they do not have any say in this, they are just stupid, and you are telling them to work hard and earn a lot and invest smartly, how could they do that? They are idiots, they can't earn a lot, and they can't invest smartly. So, do we as the community or public just say "if he is stupid then let him starve to death and never own anything"? That is cruel and unjust.

I would say that as long as wage gap between the chief officers and waitress are this big, and the difference between the wealthy and the poor became this huge, there is no possible way that regular people will ever become wealthy like those forbes top list people because they will never be able to invest or invent those stuff.
3227  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: an opportunity or preliminary start of bear market?? on: January 12, 2022, 08:34:06 PM
New investors. It is a good opportunity for them. That includes those who didn't ride the wave last year. This is not their better chance to buy at a lower price and maybe avoid regretting it if ever the bull market will suddenly come.
No one can accurately predict the market but with how much the price had gone down, I think this might be the best entry point we could get. What if we will never see this kind of bear again in the whole year? Those questions will make you intrigued to buy altcoins and wish for a bountiful year.
I would say that it is a much better situation for the veterans right now. Newbies do not know what to do with what they have, and they get scared easily so they end up losing a lot of money during panic times. Whereas veterans right now are making a lot more money and they end up profiting a lot from this fall because they know that no matter how it falls, the price will go back up. This is why they are doing a lot better right now.

So, I would say that it is not really a bad situation to be in right now for veterans, but if newbies are doing fine then kudos to them as well. I personally didn't know it was an up and down market all that much and my first ever big drop resulted with me getting out with fear, this was long time ago of course and I learned my lesson, but if they do not need that lesson and have seen us talking about great opportunity, then they may do better.
3228  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What makes mataverse coins stand out? on: January 12, 2022, 08:02:22 PM
We can't really know for sure right now. I have to say Axie is a metaverse, I know that it doesn't look like one when you think about the game but it is, and the land feature is coming, so we know that it is a big name. We know decentraland and sandbox as well. So, if the question is which ones are the big ones for right now? Then those three definitely takes the cake and there is no question about it.

However metaverse is a difficult thing to achieve, it could become a very much like a fake investment stuff, one person creates something, sells it to himself for 5 million, and then make it look like it is valuable, that is what is going on in NFT market and metaverse is involved with it. So, we can't know the future, we hope for the best but we can't really make a deduction if those three will stay at the top or not, we just assume it for now.
3229  Economy / Speculation / Re: What do you think about Bitcoin? on: January 12, 2022, 06:42:10 PM
actually several thread in this same section had already asked that same question even since 2021 , but the answer is the same here , no one is certain for this to  be predicted as while like you said there is approval from other countries yet there are still more than  hates and banned bitcoin so this does not serve as good example and brings best effect.
maybe this will take time mate that 100k dream of all here?
but at least I expect that to come in the next halving that will happen in the next 3 years from now .
those days maybe we can finally call that bitcoin reaches a 6 digit value .
It is not even about right now, nobody knows what is going to happen at any time. I could say that people in 2014 didn't know what would happen in 2018, and people in 2015 didn't know what would happen in 2016. So, just like that people in 2020 didn't know about the awesome 2021 and same goes for 2022 as well.

We just have to live and learn what will happen. I hopefully will not be really caring about all too much because I am in it for the long term and as long as something shocking doesn't happen, we are going to end up with something decent and that would mean that I would be making good enough of money 10 years later and THAT we can predict. How can we predict it? Well, month to month changes but a decade later should be something we could do. I have a 10 year plan until 2030 and I am guessing that as long as something shocking doesn't happen, it should be a good price.
3230  Economy / Speculation / Re: Always have an exit strategy on: January 12, 2022, 05:31:11 PM
My exit strategy is a house. I know that it doesn't make sense for most people, I know that crypto makes a lot more money than a house and that is why people end up having some sort of weird reply to whenever I say that I want to buy a house.

However, sometimes you have to consider how you can spend your money and who will say what. I do not have NEAR enough to buy a house, it will take minimum of 4 more years by saving with the hopes that it will be 200k by the end of that 4 years. So, if it is not 200k per bitcoin, then even 4 years is not enough and will have to wait until it is there.

The reason why I want to buy a house is the fact that my wife would not let me keep investing too much all at once into anything else, I have already done small by small into crypto and can't grow to a retirement level this way, so I need to make a big investment to get it done. If I told her that I am buying a house, she will definitely see that as a possible profit maker and I could rent it and even use that as collateral to get another loan in the future, 10-15 years down the road if I have some more crypto savings and can buy another house with some of it from crypto and some of it from the loan.
3231  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Motosport General discussion tread --- Formula1, MotoGP, WTCC, ETCC, DTM..... on: January 11, 2022, 09:43:32 PM
Sprint races definitely added a little bit more extra to it for sure. I mean it wasn't all that much this year, it was only 3 attempts and nothing major happened in any of them as far as I can remember. Most drivers just focused on finishing the way they started and I know there were some overtakes but it didn't really changed much of the season for sure. This is why I hope that we will get to see more of it, and get to decide if we like it or not based on a lot more.

By the end of next season it will be 9 sprints done in history, and then we can make a much better decision on it. Not like they are going to stop doing it the moment we dislike it, they will keep giving it a chance and if it is highly disliked and complained about then they may reconsider a few years later but for a while we have to learn to live with it, maybe even like it.
3232  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is the Metaverse a bubble? on: January 11, 2022, 09:01:29 PM
I feel like there are so much things we can learn from this situation. We have been over ICO period, STO period, IEO period, DeFi period, NFT period and now metaverse period. The defi and nft ones are still improving and out there, so I can't say that it is "over" but we have been through the early days that is for sure, and we have seen how it first started and how it got popular and we are living that period for metaverse right now.

This should all teach us that one thing which is crucial ; good projects will survive no matter how they are done. For every uniswap, we have a thousand bad ideas, for every cryptopunks, there are thousand different bad projects, forever ADA, there are millions other bad ones. So, you may end up with buying into a great project, or you may end with one of the thousands that will be bad. Be careful when picking a project.
3233  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Binance CEO Zhao Is Worth $96B Excluding Crypto Holdings on: January 11, 2022, 08:15:09 PM
The weird part is the "excluding crypto holdings" part. Can you imagine him not holding at least a few billion dollars, this dude definitely worths 100+ billion dollars for sure. First of all I would like to point out that Mark zuckerberg didn't started out with nothing, he came from a long line of rich family. Dude went to a public school first so I get it, but then moved to Exeter private school which is a VERY expensive school which his parents paid off, went to John Hopkins center for talented youth, and he was taught plenty of languages ALL from wikipedia alone and I am not even going into detail here. Dude basically had all the things a kid would ever want and never lived in a poor situation his entire life.

All in all facebook wasn't the only kind of its own, there were other stuff like myspace, but facebook did it well and I agree that he is a very smart person. However as far as we know CZ actually came from nothing, unlike Mark who was already "decent enough" before facebook and became super wealthy afterwards.
3234  Economy / Economics / Re: Is PayPal plannning to Launch of Own Stablecoin? on: January 11, 2022, 07:25:23 PM
Stablecoins are the root of the evil type of thing in crypto these days. People get in and out of cryptocurrencies with ease thanks to these centralized stablecoins, even fiat would have been better. I mean when you are in crypto, going back to fiat takes a slightly more time compared to stablecoins, not a lot but still like maybe 10-15 minutes longer when you consider banking hours it could be even more.

This is also the key for most leverage places as well, you have a dollar worth debt and when you are going the wrong way you get liquidated and all of your crypto turns into stablecoins. The last thing we need is an industry giant to start their own stablecoin, facebook had their own thing for a while and I am hoping that we do not end up having the same thing once again. Not that it would be impossible or horrible but it would definitely not be profitable for anyone.
3235  Economy / Economics / Re: Euro zone inflation hit a new record high of 5% in December on: January 09, 2022, 04:10:53 PM
I honestly do not think that inflation is the real matter, corruption is definitely the key answer.
There are some European nations with semi-dictators as well, and big corruption no matter which party is at the top on that election. This causes the whole euro currency to get impacted, we have a lot more poor people and a lot more wealthy corrupted officials or their families or whatever.

This is why do not imagine Germany or France whenever you think about euro, remember that there are much smaller places out there. Inflation could be 10% and you could still manage to make the nation better, or inflation could be 2% and you could still be a bad nation, that is not the main reason that impacts a whole zone filled with dozens of nations.
3236  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is SLP really a scam coin? on: January 08, 2022, 05:33:03 PM
If you look at a coin like SLP and consider to be scam, then what do you think is not a scam? It is certainly a failing token right now, there is nothing wrong with saying "failing" because it could recover in the future, it has been failing for a while but that never means that there will never be something done about it by the team. At the end of the day, I would still not suggest investing into SLP right now, it is riskier and you would have to trust that with all the land and new 2.0 and all of that should be getting it better if you want to invest, if you do not believe in the team to fix it then you are not going to be happy about it neither.

However, it is certainly not a scam, scam is different, scam is something that teams use to steal money from you, they may not be great at what they are doing lately but they are certainly not stealing from you.
3237  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Crypterium has held my BTC hostage for almost a month with no end in sight. on: January 07, 2022, 09:42:08 PM
In the future don't use these unknown bitcoin exchanges. Use Coinbase or Crypto.com or Kraken or Gemini, even if they got higher fees. They got more support staff and you won't get issues such as this on their platform.
These would only work properly if you are US citizen I guess. They are definitely among the best but don't be surprised if their customer support is also terrible.

Personally, for most people not in US, I would even just go to Localbitcoins to get my coins. You still KYC there but the escrow and problem resolution is really good from the site.
I would say that every nation has at least one local exchange that is trustworthy, it is the global scams that you have to be careful about. In my nation we have known exchanges and they are all fine, nobody really gets their money stolen from there, then we hear from the news that some exchange I have never heard of before got away with stealing a billion dollars worth of crypto from their users.

First of all I have been in crypto for nearly 9 years now, if I haven't heard of it, that means the billion dollar amount is a lie, I would know all the exchanges in my nation at this point, secondly there are some which has been around for 5+ years at the very least, some even more than that, one has been around since 2014, so if you can't trust that and go to some other place that's a bit on you. Focus on the trustworthiness and the age and you will find good local exchanges.
3238  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Motosport General discussion tread --- Formula1, MotoGP, WTCC, ETCC, DTM..... on: January 07, 2022, 09:12:25 PM
There is always money in big sports.

Where F1 is rather unique, and it hasn't always been the case but it is now, is that the main teams are backed by powerful companies. Mercedes, Renault, Ferrari, Red Bull, they make a lot of money, with or without F1. So F1 has to be careful to not upset these companies too much. And of course, take care of the fans too. It's already dodgy to compete in some countries where nobody cares about F1...
That's the thing about F1, they have a lot more money and somehow they are getting a lot more attention and marketing from all of these companies as well, whoever enters F1 ends up promoting it basically. Look at indycar series, we are talking about something that has all cars nearly equal if I am not wrong, it may or may not be stock cars for all teams but at least it is equal which means that the race never gets decided on which team has the better car but only which driver is better and some strategy and changing some other small stuff like air in tires or wing height etc etc, or even just pure luck basically.

This is why I believe that we should check that out if we are f1 fans and see what would happen if we gave drivers all the same cars. I am 100% certain Hamilton wouldn't have 7 championships for sure, there is NO way he gets 7 titles if he was on equal cars with people, he is good but not THAT good without having a dominating car under him.
3239  Economy / Economics / Re: BTC: is it really bearish? on: January 07, 2022, 07:29:04 PM
Nobody knows what will happen. I was around in 2018 and whenever it dipped, people were saying they bought the bottom and we’re going to sell at a new ATH. Then it dipped again and again and again and then people assumed $6K must be rock solid support until it wasn’t.

Then people assumed $4.5K was the low, until it wasn’t and then it went to like $3.5K and did nothing for many weeks. Many sold out of boredom and it was the low.

So who knows if 2022 will be a repeat.
People will keep on calling it the bottom for now as well, and even if it falls there is nothing wrong with that. Imagine all those people who said 6k was the bottom, if they kept their money they would have made 10x in just 3 years in 2021, how many investments are out there in the world that gives you 10x return in 3 years?

If they are getting bored from waiting just 3 years, then they should not be investing in the first place. Investing is not a daily thing, trading definitely is so if they are traders they shouldn't have kept their coins for so long and traded daily and shouldn't be losing all that much money. However, if they are investors then they should be not getting "bored of waiting" for 3 years 10x return, even more, like 11x or so.

This is why I keep saying that holding is the easiest and hardest thing ever. You literally do nothing at all, and some people can't do it for some reason, they keep selling and buying when all they have to do is literally nothing.
3240  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: staking is a type of mining? on: January 07, 2022, 06:50:48 PM
You have to choose a well-known coin with considerable market capitalization for staking to avoid being scammed. You should also make sure you're using a reputable wallet that, while supporting staking, is not going to rob you. I think that not losing your coins is the main concern with staking. But I'd also consider the viability of staking. Given how volatile cryptos are, it seems to me that staking doesn't make much sense. The added value you might get from coins is only a matter of a swing of the market and the prices changing. So I think it's better to follow the prices rather than engage in staking.
It is not even just about being scammed, it is a bit about how we should be focusing more on not dropping the price by staking too much. I mean imagine one person with one million dollars destroying the whole market by staking all by himself. If that is possible for a token then it is too small and there is nothing you could earn from that, it is too much of a risk and we should not be risking when staking.

This is why a high market capitalization is definitely better, that way even if someone puts up a few million dollars and takes out, the market doesn't get phased by it. That actually is the biggest reason for me since I do not fear getting scammed because I only invest into trustworthy stuff, but if it is trustworthy and still has very low volume then I do not invest into it. It has to be doing well enough to matter and also not get screwed by whales.
