3241  Economy / Speculation / Re: Tesla accepting Bitcoin payments and ..... Doge ? on: December 14, 2021, 02:35:30 PM
So it seems this actually was somewhat true, Elon Musk just posted on twitter,

https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1470703708677840896

"Tesla will make some merch buyable with Doge & see how it goes"

So I guess you won't be able to buy an entire Tesla car but can buy some Tesla accessories.
3242  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Craig Wright owes a cool $100 million on: December 14, 2021, 02:52:53 AM
I'm curious, is he really Satoshi Nakamoto? I read an article a few years ago that there is some valid evidence that he is Satoshi Nakamoto, but I don't know where the source of information from the article is, is it valid or not. But, if he is real satoshi, maybe one option to pay off his debt is to sell his bitcoins (if he has a lot of BTC)

No he is not. Many people that know the real satoshi have said that they know  the way he talks is nothing like the original satoshi. The way he portrays himself doesn’t seem how satoshi would act.

The entire mess with BSV and he threatening all the exchanges and such. I don’t really understand why this individual acts this way but he is not satoshi.

He had many tries to provide some proof but he always made some excuse . It’s very easy to prove. Just sign one of the early blocks and everybody would believe him but he can’t even do that.
3243  Economy / Economics / Re: Only 50% of the college Class of 2020 had full-time jobs 6 months post grad on: December 14, 2021, 02:35:25 AM
As someone who went to University I don’t find this surprisingly at all. I think about 50% or so of all my friends and classmates are not even in the same profession.

Most degrees are useless and you won’t have a career out of it. You won’t get a job when you graduate from Arts or Sciences, maybe unless you want to teach.

All the other degrees like law, engineering, etc are very competitive to get actually hired. There are more spots for students then there are jobs.
3244  Economy / Economics / Re: Robert Kiyosaki expects a market crash and economic crisis - do you believe it? on: December 14, 2021, 02:32:08 AM
The guy has been making this prediction for years and he is always wrong. If you look at his Twitter you can go back and read all the posts and you will see everything. I remember every few months he makes these predictions and if I recall none of them came true.

I never read his books, even though many people swear by them. I just don’t think they would really help you. I think he is a great public speaker and writer but have you met anyone who he has actually made rich? Probably not.
3245  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Two Australian exchanges collapsed recently, remember to withdraw your bitcoin on: December 13, 2021, 04:25:31 AM
What is it with all these Australian and New Zealand exchanges collapsing all the time. If you guys were here around 2017 you will remember Cryptopia? That exchange was also either Australian or New Zealand and it also went under. And it was a big blow to crypto because it has lots of small cap alts listed.

This is why you never keep large amounts of crypto on any exchange unless you are trading them. If you are not then either withdraw to Bank account or withdraw it to your cold storage.
3246  Economy / Economics / Re: Maybe good time to loan money to invest in crypto on: December 13, 2021, 04:17:29 AM
Do not ever borrow money to invest. Or trade on leverage. It’s a recipe for disaster. And who knows if those meta coins and Bitcoin will ever moon again. You want to get stuck with a bad investment that you are paying interest on?

This is the real reason why back in late 2017 credit card companies started to decline payments to Bitcoin exchanges. Because there was too many people buying Bitcoin on credit and they were worried they would default on the bills.
3247  Economy / Speculation / Re: I know you have all been waiting in anticipation of on update.... on: December 13, 2021, 04:14:41 AM
I don’t think the legal debate between Craig Wright will have any effect on BTC price. After all with all the evidence presented, most people know he is not the real Satoshi. I think people are thinking that it’s wise to buy his BSV coin because he will dump all 1.1M BTC on the Bitcoin network which would cause the price to crash.

A bigger issue is the Mt Gox distribution which will happen in 2022 sometime. This might have an effect on price because most likely some people will take profits and sell. At least some of their coins and when the time line is released, many will sell their coins well in advance because they think price will crash.

What Craig Wright, and the Bcash SV holders might actually want to happen is for Bcash SV to surge high in market value. Then because “he is Satoshi”, he can order a Bcash SV hard fork to take all pre-2012 dormant coins under his control.

It’s been years since I looked at the BSV protocol however I am pretty sure the way it’s designed is that any dormant coins will just be brought back into the supply and miners will get those coins.

The issue is that if you look at the BSVUSD chart, you will see it has hardly done anything for the past few years. A few scam wicks here and there and that’s about it.

Even if he gets those coins, they will be worth like $100 each and if he starts to sell the coin will tank to like $1.
3248  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Where can I exchange news about mining new coins? on: December 12, 2021, 03:48:23 AM
There are barely any new POW coins released these days.
Most are Tokens on the BNB or ETH that you have to purchase, you cannot mine them.

You can search the ANN section of bitcointalk and there might be some new POW coin coming out and you can try mining it from the start and get more coins since the difficulty is lower.

If it ever hits an exchange you will have made a good pay check however there is no guarantee it’s going to be listed anywhere.
3249  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Using computers at work for mining - what if? on: December 12, 2021, 03:45:22 AM
Little bit too late for that. Back in Highschool I heard of someone using 30 computers to mine Bitcoin, but that was like 2011 or 2012, I bet it was barely profitable back then. But if he hodled them, he must have made a lot of profit.

Kinda wish I was more immoral back then.

I highly doubt he kept those bitcoins and I highly doubt he made lots of it. Normally on a university or high school computer system there is a format that takes place at midnight or so and the entire hard drive image is restored from scratch. They do this to prevent people installing tons of applications and viruses.

And like the above poster said, unless he was CPU mining with satoshi then most likely the network was dominated by GPUs. The cpu weren’t profitable for long before a GPU miner came out and the CPUs couldn’t compete with GPUs at all.
3250  Economy / Economics / Re: Mortgage are most wrong financial decision you can make on: December 12, 2021, 03:40:56 AM
I find a lot of people that think this way. They basically say it’s stupid buying cars cash when you can get a loan for like 3% and invest the rest and make 10%. Or people like the OP who say mortgage is stupid when you can rent and just invest your down payment in crypto or stock market and make at least >10%.

I got news for you. The stock market or crypto market won’t always go up. Sure if you are guaranteed 10% then it’s a different story but just because the stock or crypto markets had a good run the last decade doesn’t mean that the next 10 will be the same.
3251  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why the bitcoin market has been dumping so much for months on: December 12, 2021, 03:36:54 AM
I think the reason why many people complain is due to people like that s2f guy on Twitter who was promising that Bitcoin has to hit $98K at the end of November and like $150K or so in Dec and Jan.

These people all bought Bitcoin at >$65K because they were conditioned to believe that. And hence this is the reason we got this dip. Most likely we will trade sideways for 2-3 months to weed out these people who are in it for the fast cash.
3252  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin to Hit $150,000 in 2022 on: December 12, 2021, 03:33:51 AM
I think we would of already gone past >100K if more companies put Bitcoin on their balance sheet like Tesla. I remember there was speculation that during the Summer dip, many Fortune 500 companies would buy Bitcoin and then announce their purchase during earnings between Oct-Nov however that obviously was not the case.

Remember those goat that the Facebook ceo calls Bitcoin. There was also speculation that he would also put Bitcoin on its balance sheet and many were betting it would be announced on its earnings call but it never was.
3253  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: BTC (or crypto in general) on: December 11, 2021, 04:34:14 AM
I agree with some of what you are saying however just because SP500 and Bitcoin made new highs doesn’t mean everything is a bubble and will implode soon.

Look at stocks like Zoom, Peleton, Alibaba, Disney, Uber, etc. They are all trending downwards, some are like 70% down from ATH. The stocks which are making SP500 go to ATH are stocks like NVDA and Apple which will eventually correct.

The trend for certain assets already reversed this Summer.
3254  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Turn 100k & 10k into 1 Million challenge on: December 11, 2021, 04:28:15 AM
Did you just buy these coins once and not touch them for 3 years? Looking at your portfolio ADA was last Summer however it was around that price throughout much of 2019. And LINk was $1.90 also in 2019.

So these seems like very very profitable trades and I am amazed that you had the nerve to hold it all this time so congrats.

This reminds me of some dude who bought XRP back in 2017 for a penny and he sold it for $1 and made a 100x profit. I think he only bought like $500 worth so his profit was like $50,000 which is very impressive.
3255  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin to Hit $150,000 in 2022 on: December 11, 2021, 04:09:03 AM
It’s hard to say what the inflation figures will be in mid 2022. On one hand you got supply issues which is one reason why these inflation numbers are up. Delays in shipping and port congestion obviously will make prices up for certain products. Then you got the issues with cars and the chip shortage. Which I think is already resolved because auto manufacturers got most of the chips they need and production will resume to normal capacity in Q1.

So obviously the inflation number will go down in 2022, and if you add the fact that the fed will do it’s first fed rate increase in Q2, means that inflation should go down. Assets will be risk off and Bitcoin might fall in price.
3256  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: 3 Arrows Capital is dumping Ethereum? on: December 10, 2021, 03:47:59 AM
If I were him, I would not get mad spend $100 for the fee by sending $400 million. After all, I still have a lot of money that I can use for many ways besides still using it for the investment. Yes, they should have Bitcoin than just ETH as bitcoin can give them more profit in the future. If they do not want to pay a high fee for the transaction, they can convert it into other coins with a low fee to solve the problem right away. We need to be wise to reduce the fee if we do not want to pay some fees.

He is not mad about spending $100 to send $400M. If you read his tweets he just doesn’t like the way the ETH Dev. Team is running things. He doesn’t find it fair for someone to have to spend $25 for a simple ETH transfer or $50 for an ERC20 transfer of a token like USDC. Or even do a Defi trade for over $100. He says it’s not good for new comers who can’t afford to use the network.

Now it’s been years since I’ve followed up on what the ETH team is doing. I know for a fact that they are always late for their schedules and understand why it’s frustrating. However the fact that NFTs are popular and are causing all this fee mess is not their fault.
3257  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Q:Why isn't the Shocking Ethereum Fees discussed more in Media? A:... on: December 10, 2021, 03:22:01 AM
Remember 2017 when we used to pay $50 for a simple transaction on the Bitcoin network. Nobody talked about it then in the media. I think it’s mostly due to the fact that most speculators never actually use the network. They either buy some ETF, or futures or they just leave it on their Coinbase account.

Same is happening with ETF. And their fees are more or less inline with what happened with Bitcoin in 2017 and nobody in the mainstream media complained about it. Most likely people are just in it for the big bucks and not really concerned how it actually works. Same with the people who buy certain stocks, they barely know the company , just like the company name and invest.
3258  Economy / Economics / Re: US Real Estate Enters A Bubble For The First Time Since 2007: US Federal Reserve on: December 10, 2021, 03:17:35 AM
Looking at the chart, it looks like it entered bubble territory in 97 and didn’t actually burst until 10 years later so not the most reliable indicator. Kind of like most indicators for Bitcoin prices when it goes parabolic, sure it’s overbought but can be overbought for a very long time before it starts to peak.

What’s going on now with Evergrande and Zillow won’t really affect home prices. At least not in the near term. What can affect home prices is perhaps fed rates which I think would make home prices for flat rather than trend up like for the past few years.

3260  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Simple Question - Where/What are the Discord/Telegram groups pushing low alts? on: December 09, 2021, 04:00:23 AM
All those groups, free or paid. Are just pump and dump scam groups. They post some low cap coin which they already own and then they pump it on the channel. Tons of people buy and it might pull a 20-500% move while the  pump group already sold. And there is somebody left holding the bag.

Usually the ones who get in early and get out quick profit but most of the people end up holding the bag which ends up becoming worthless. You won’t find any hidden gems that go 100x in those groups. I would stay away.
