Edit:  By the way, as I type this post, it appears that the test of $4k is imminent.  Or do we have another false alarm?


Unless someone breaks out the juicer I think at $3.95k we are going to hit resistance again.

Reasons are as follows - short to long ratio excessive, divot at the end of the month on daily chart indicates a possible retest of $3.75kish, TK indicator has not crossed back over into a bullish configuration on the daily. I would really like to be proven wrong but there you go. #dyor

I believe this to be a fundamental truth as I have alluded to in the past though I think many a ego trys to deny it. One of my favorite movies of all time with two of my favorite actors. Its rare for me to laugh and shed a tear over a movie yet at the end feel better about humanity. The scene where he is eating the whole bananas is epic.

In this paper we introduce two new methods to reduce the time required to break a randomly selected symmetric encryption key. The first method relies on drawing 1-n random test symmetric keys. Extensive reductions in time can be realized through use of powerful hardware and multi-threaded processing of 1-n random test keys. The second method relies on the gambler’s technique of playing the odds to win. This method determines the odds of a target symmetric key containing identical byte sequences that are equal to 0. This will further reduce the time required to break a target symmetric key.

The following assumptions have been made about readers of this paper:

    Understands binary logic
    Understands that lower bits clear when a higher bit is set
    Understands that symmetric keys are made up of random or pseudo-random bytes
    Understands that lower key bytes will clear when higher bits cross byte boundaries

The effective strength of AES was theoretically compromised when it was first evaluated, and efforts to theoretically break AES have not abated since that time. While it has not been proven that AES has been compromised, we know it is possible to greatly reduce the complexity of breaking symmetric keys. Like other paradigm-altering concepts, our solutions are simple, which may indicate they are already in use today.

Network communications rely on AES to encrypt and decrypt traffic through secure web sites, banking applications, online payments, and communications between computers (14)(15). The adoption of AES has greatly accelerated since Intel incorporated AES-NI into all of their CPU's. AES-128 bit keys may be broken using the methods outlined in this paper. AES-192 and AES-256 keys may prove secure for now, but will not remain secure in the future.

Software can be developed to distribute computing load across many processor cores and computers providing an opportunity to break symmetric keys using 1-n computers with 1-n cores. Processing time can be leased on cloud servers, super computers, and quantum computers. CPU's in future will be more powerful, and will support more cores and threads per core. Video graphics cards will be more powerful, and will support more CUDA threads. Memory and storage will increase in capacity, and decrease in relative cost.

While we believe that AES-192 and AES-256 remain secure to use, the size of symmetric keys must eventually be increased. While it may prove difficult to switch technology to more secure forms of symmetric encryption, secure encryption solutions are available that will help smooth the transition.

I am presuming this to be a question based on current market conditions, and BTC expectations on such current market conditions.. so to be able to say that you are in a kind of "fuck you" status right now.. and based on minimum number of coins to perceive yourself to have sufficiently reached such "fuck you" status.

Since you may have seen some of my posts on that subject, you likely have a decent idea where I fall. Accordingly, I do believe that the ranges at the bottom are too small and the ranges at the top are too large, but I suppose we can see where the respondents fall and I suspect that the results should skew towards the top.... based on what I believe to be the presumptions of the question; however, can already see that the results seem to be more scattered so responders seem to be reaching presumptions different from my own... who would have thunk?    Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

There's very few people here with 1000BTC. Even three digits is pretty unusual.

I would posit that anyone with over 1k btc is here from time to time. I do think for the majority however having 3 digits of coin would be most welcome. I will further add that imho, the only viable answer has to be 1k+ at current prices.

In the interest of full disclosure..another poll. The results sort of surprised me tbh. I like to think of myself as a middle of the road kinda guy but it seems my proclivity towards champagne socialism is greater than expected.

I was waiting for a decision, between bullish and bearish scenarios, since 6h PSAR was close to flip to bullish, and 12h PSAR close to flip to bearish.
With this bi-directional spike, both flipped, so no clue how this will unfold... Roll Eyes

Where do you think we are compared to 2015? Or do you see it unfolding differently than back then?

If this will play similar to 2015, then about 6 months from now weekly MACD should cross into positive.
But I suspect this bear market is of a higher order than the 2014 one, so I wouldn't count on a quick recovery.

Something that we havent talked much about is the big bounce that happened after capitulation in 2015. The candle wicked back upwards almost 39% before the weekly close. Now if we are experiencing a fractal pattern in bitcoins price that compares '15 to '19 then this is where symmetry is starting to fall off. We never experienced a large bounce back upwards this year, it was the following week that brought us back up out of the hole. That candles middle point became the median price for the next several months before finally breaking upwards.

.....ok..I have sat here to long and now have totally forgotten what my point was supposed to be..fml. I think it was to say while yes the cycles have similar shape and form when you look at the actual data they are different beasts. Basically nevermind..  Tongue

Growing up we used to have a 6 toed black short hair that we called Babe the black Bitch from Hell. She had a strong proclivity for stalking and would charge out from her concealment to run and literally bounce off of you in a mock attack. She loved to wrestle and had fearsome rabbit kicks. I do believe the backs of my hands and forearms might still bare some scars of her affection.

Life is what you make of it my friend but I do indeed agree that it is a mighty fine thing.

Good afternoon Bitcoinland.

Sitting in a bar at YYZ killing time. They'd overbooked my flight almost 2 hours ago, so I'm waiting for a flight to Mex City in about 3 hours.
 
Tomorrow AM (way too early... farmers' hours... 7:30 AM) I fly down to Cancun a day late. Geeze, I thought my trip north would be a few days. Now it's turned into over a week.

At least they're compensating me with a $20 dinner voucher and a check for $1000. Not bad for a $289 ticket. More than pays for my trip up and back including taxis etc.

Sometimes things can be a pain but basically life is good.

Meanwhile Bitcoin is still going sideways... currently $3872USD/ $5150CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

For all you superstitious folks who think I can magically control Bitcoin prices by going south and north, the price is about the same as it was a week ago when I flew up. Go figure.

Ok..and I hate to break it to you but according to my calculations there is a .000097% chance that your random trips down South might effect the price of corn. Since the first team that was sent failed to detain you...perhaps more drastic measures need to be considered.

Does the intercept of the exponent and logarithmic regression curves represents the likely future peak (at around 80K)?

That is how I am interpreting the data though I would like to note that I tend to be very conservative in most of my projections. I am a firm believer in the hope for the best, prepare for the worst mentality.
