The delta v was much higher than expected. A elongated elliptical orbit will carry it out towards the asteroid belt.

I'm still kind of coming to grips with the fact that a man just put his version of a lambo IN ORBIT...with a final destination of MARS...

I Like what Mr. Musk did with that car  Tongue

(This pic is real)

I somehow missed the car in that. Had to go back to double check, damn that guy is all the good kinds of crazy.

And the stereo is playing "Space Oddity".
I wonder if you can here music from a car stereo in mars thin atmosphere?

Its actually "Life on Mars" and yes sound waves can propagate thru the martian atmosphere but not at the levels found on earth. ei..the martian atmosphere is 1% of earths at sea level.

Markets recovering...Honey Badger on the prowl. FH launch in 30 minutes...coincidence?  I think not.

Tether seems to be stable during this bloodbath in cryptospace. Too bad I haven't invested in that. If you want stable, "store of value" coin, Tether is the answer.

Not surprised you have no merits. Dammit, why can't I demerit you??

+10 WOsMerits  I can still hear the echo...   They-MOS-MOS-Mos-mos!

This whole SEC/CFTC crypto hearing is such bullshit. Just a circus sideshow.

Everybody thinks that the support expressed for the crypto markets in the hearing is brand new news.

But their documentation and talking points are merely shit that they already hashed out over a YEAR ago when they were planning the inception of the Bitcoin Futures markets to begin with. The SEC and CFTC are already onboard and have been for over a year now.

Ofc its a shitshow..the only reason they are doing it today it to distract from the meltdown happening with the global markets.

Anyone hear from Rosewood  I'm concerned the dude is passed out in a ditch somewhere, completely obliterated on scotch.

is that bad? i mean it beats being passed out naked in a bathroom in mexico (umm, or so ive heard..). even beats being passed out drunk in police lockup (that one ive verified heard of too).

friend of mine woke up one night, finding out he was in his underwear locked out of his apartment.

Hey...look at the bright side...least he had and was still IN hes underwear.

We will see them back in about 2-5 years, perhaps, and maybe even less when they are buying when the price goes between $25k and $50k..

So bearish so soon?  I think 2 years would be at the very outside...the next halving is in that range and that gets baked in well before hand. In all honesty I expect a rebound of some type to happen by weeks end. Tomorrow might be brutal but we will survive and flourish, and become stronger for it. A good chance for everyone to accumulate more coins I think.
A couple months of the bearspring to lick our wounds and reflect upon the error of our ways. Then we will thank the gods and do a jig, for the healing warmth of summer will be upon us.

Look at the volume. Look at it.

It looks pitiful.  But is that your point?
Beacuse it's eclipsing everything else in the chart?

I dunno.  Doesn't look like that much volume:
-snip-

Did you seriously just compare a 3 month chart of BTC on Bitstamp to a 1 day 12 hour chart of ? on ?
+1 WOsMerit for wtf over.

6k broke..now we can get down to it.
4251  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 06, 2018, 02:46:16 AM
Fuck it.

I have set buy orders from $6400 to zero.

First one just got triggered.  Let’s all go down together !

The Stairs of Doom approacheth.

HOW are we bleeding this bad??
Maybe this is the final fail. I still think it's going to bounce first.

Me too...dont know why but wouldnt be suprised at a hard bounce upwards. Maybe just wishful thinking on my part. I hope everyone was able to protect their nestegg. Whilst my fiat holdings have taken a significant downturn my crypto assets are increasing nicely.

I would like however, to point out someone is NOT with the program here...what is the meaning of this??

This...this lack of conformity..the out right just not fitting in with the crowd..this is unacceptable!

For crying out loud!

I go to sleep and then work for a couple of hours and come back here and there is 22 pages to catch up.
Doesn't anyone here have a life?

Not when their lambo dreams are even futher delayed  Cool

Lambo dreams...pffft...so 2017.

I missed the dip there,
With a bit of luck you will drive to Mars tomorrow (18:30 UTC)

I am pretty excited about that launch myself. I have emailed Elon about getting a quote in bitcoin for a series of FH missions to Mars. For awhile there I was thinking BTC10k would do it..but at todays prices its BTC37241.37931034483
Hopefully by next decade it will be back down to where I can realistically afford it..say BTC2-3k bitcoin. That should include habitat, EV suits, 60kv+ solar array and battery bank, couple of electric rovers and food/oxygen for 36 months.
I dont want a round trip but that option should be available to any that want to come with me..and I expect a resupply mission every 24 months for sundries and victuals.

This crash is your opportunity to create intergenerational wealth.

If you do not exhaust your fiat, you will soon have more BTC than you could have dreamed of.  Don’t get bull trapped.  If you are currently trapped, this candle is an opportunity to exit before the next leg down.

now THIS is the sort of capitulation talk I'm looking for

ikr

Carry on.

there is a thread in the speculation subforum called "meme speculation"

Why was it locked? Went through couple of pages.. it looks fun..

Sadly, there are quite a few locked threads on this forum that deserve some necro love. Perhaps start a new one..everyone enjoys memes.

Still no sign of a bounce. Somebody sacrifice a goat.

**Edited: CFTC has rescheduled the date for this event from Feb 6th to Feb 14th, 2017.**

Might hold off it looks like. Now we have all the makings for the perfect storm next week. Stocking up on popcorn, tums, hookers and blow. See ya.

Does anyone do fundamentals analysis of bitcoin and/or other cryptos on YouTube?

Ideally rational people who don't think bitcoin will replace fiat.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-C4zLSlBaMs

Some interesting points imho.
4258  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 03, 2018, 07:25:28 PM

That was the first link I really looked at. I have zero desire to run "unofficial" releases like that, and would like to be 100% in control of building things from scratch via "official sources", for something critical like a bitcoind and lnd server.

I'll hack around later. My partner is fighting a wicked-awful headache today and I think I want to crawl into bed and cuddle all afternoon, and sleep. Stressful week, yo.

I hear you..doesn't sound like a bad way to go. I found that guide useful getting all the dependencies set up tho. Just getting to the point where its up and stable in the VM is a pain.

@LedgerHQ https://twitter.com/LedgerHQ/status/959766958601273344
To mitigate the man in the middle attack vector reported here https://www.docdroid.net/Jug5LX3/ledger-receive-address-attack.pdf … (affecting all hardware wallet vendors), always verify your receive address on the device's screen by clicking on the "monitor button"

https://support.ledgerwallet.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000641713-Basic-security-principles-must-read-

verify.your.receive.address
Some oft overlooked advice about seeds.

Never take a picture of your recovery sheet (as it would go in the cloud and could be accessible to hackers).
Never enter your 24 words on any computer or smartphone.
Keep your recovery sheet in a safe place, protected from light, humidity and fire.

Additionally, it is critical to make sure that you have generated yourself the 24 words. Never, ever, use a preconfigured device. Never, ever, use a set of 24 words which has been given to you by a third party. The basic principle is that you must be the only one in the world to have knowledge of your 24 words.

On a related note, got to bed about 4am after a late night hacking with my new bitcoind server. Got it up and running last night, and ports properly forwarded from the firewall, and sitting at about 111 connections now since the new box went online.

Had a whole mess of issues between the Lenovo Hardware RAID shit, and Linux Software RAID having issues booting off a RAID volume (hardware or mdadm created - no dice on either)

Ended up just doing 1 drive for the system, and 3 drives as an md RAID5 for the bitcoin and lnd shit.

Setting up Lightning from the official lnd github page is proving to be a disaster  (https://github.com/lightningnetwork/lnd/blob/master/docs/INSTALL.md)

Code:
bob@xserver:~/bitcoin-0.15.1/bin$ sudo apt-get install golang-1.8-go
Reading package lists... Done

Reading state information... Done
E: Unable to locate package golang-1.8-go
E: Couldn't find any package by glob 'golang-1.8-go'
E: Couldn't find any package by regex 'golang-1.8-go'

Sheeit.

Did you try this Bob?

OT
I am expected a nice surge...even tho I have been saying that for a week now. This sell off caught me off guard and it was glaringly obvious in hind sight. Fundamentals are still fundamental...and a 61.8% fib retrace is not out of the ball park here.
I was only able to sell a small amount at around $8550 on the way down but was able to grab a nice pile at $8129.99.
Looking to exit at 14.75k with the coins I have in play if this rebound happens. I think this is going ping pong bullishly into next week for the New Year.
