Can someone explain whats going on?

With good information pls

Let it stop please....

Market makers realizing that wall street schmucks and institutional investors are not as dumb as they look. Have to lower the price enough to entice and entrap. They can wait much longer than most can remain solvent.

Big decision time. Going lower from here to complete the bart is risky but probable.

Price is going to $.01 guyz.

Let me save you all buy buying your bitcoins for $.02. Leave you with your dignity.

*sniff* *sniff*   Alas, fair thee well brave sailor. By..buy..bye.  /s

Time to go test that $6k floor again I suppose. Bummer.  $6910.5 would complete the bart. Pretty much dipped out at this point. #dyor

Yes let's herd all the crackpot loop-de-doos into one action-packed thread.

Where the hell have you been? This thread has been packed with the crème de la crème crackpots and nutjobs for 5+ years.
You rang?  Roll Eyes

-----------------
That was a well played bull trap. *golf clap* Now is the same going to happen to the bears..or have we entered the long slow death. Hmm..I am starting to think the latter.

Same things seem to keep happening, every time there is a move the market exhausts itself before completing the jump to get out of the rut its been stuck in.
Its really quite unhealthy.

The lower low has invalidated the EW count I was looking at. I think downside risk is significant at this point and I am looking at $7.5kish.   Upside potential seems marginal for now and until we (if)break above $8.75k it appears to be more sideways. Keep shaking..I am sure a few more satoshi will rattle free. I know..here is a plan..lets drive down the price so we can let bankers and wall street goons have a great entry price. Ya..they are the same guys that have been screwing us over for decades but who cares..we are bitcoiners...we have magical internet money.

I wonder how long until Google and Facebook roll out a (centralized but they wont care)crypto. Pretty sure at that point this space will be relegated to a niche market. A quaint plaything of the rich and disenchanted.

Have you guys seen the latest season of Silicon Valley?

This episode gave me goosebumps: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=28IpiLraUoc

One of the advisers of the show was on consensus talking about blockchain or crypto.

Its really getting cray cray how mainstream is adopting crypto. Did you see Billions with the 1 mio usb stick? I do enjoy that show.

Been thinking about 280 trillion dollars of global wealth. This is by far a more significant number than what I used doing those back of the napkin calc's before. I used 80t...so times 3x what I was doodling with before. Someone mentioned it at the time..thanks.

Quote
Global Wealth Report 2017
9/2017
According to the eighth edition of the Credit Suisse Research Institute's Global Wealth Report, in the year to mid-2017, total global wealth rose at a rate of 6.4%, the fastest pace since 2012 and reached USD 280 trillion. This reflected widespread gains in equity markets matched by similar rises in non-financial assets, which moved above the pre-crisis year 2007's level for the first time this year. Wealth growth also outpaced population growth, so that global mean wealth per adult grew by 4.9% and reached a new record high of USD 56,540 per adult. This year, the report includes a focus on Millennials' wealth position and provides a comparison with earlier generations

.05% of 280t=140b or almost exactly bitcoins MC.

Percent of global adoption..what did we say?  About .05%? With a upwards limit of perhaps 5% aware of bitcoin and actively trying to accumulate..somewhere in there. Hmm..one order of magnitude larger. So..140b becomes 1.4t becomes 14t and so on. I think the cryptocurrency MC as a whole could reach 5 to 15 trillion within the next several years..say 2025. I feel this is a extremely conservative estimation. These first couple of jumps are going to be something else to see. It all seems to align, its almost as if..  Well, its very interesting to me to say the least.

Retesting some of these short period fibonacci lines. Hodling at the .5 retrace for now. Going deeper towards that 0.786 fib might cause me to reconsider things.
A following sea and a bit of swell might cause a bit of unpleasantness until we clear the channel. Probably just some chop as mentioned.

To end on a positive..check out this TEDtalk if you have time. Its about happiness. I was surprised at some of the figures and it changed my perspective somewhat.

The more I learn about TA the more I think it's all bullshit and not much different than astrology.

finding it very hard to comprehend narratives about the just and legal way courts, ministers and legal authorities are affecting the market.

One reason Bitcoin was created because the banks around the world stole everyone's money 2008 GFC

yet here we are quoting these authorities as gospel

With so much corruption it is easy to ascertain what those in position of market manipulation are doing, they nearly all tied at the hip and benefiting of each others knowledge

I dont think the deal with the banks is new especially.   Bank failures have occurred previously, boom situations that blew up even but the most obvious difference now is large central government.   The banks are a side story, the main reason why banks could not be allowed to fail in 2008 was because they are backstopping the government debt that has become so common.   Is that what made the Lehmans CEO so damned determined to carry on, he calculated on this effect.  Certainly debt influence is evident in Japan and USA and many other western economies with faltering GDP growth for many years.

Im told China has a debt problem, they have a lower working population occurring every year but I dont think thats going to be a near term failure for them.    But the banks I dont see as the primary cause of past or future failures, I think its something like 90% of mortgage debt in USA is operated by government.   Part of the story for 2008 was loan rates set low by Federal reserve dictating its central interest rate from coast to coast.  It was wrong to do that in some areas, maybe overall it was wrong but nobody can challenge a bank of that power and size.
Like that line I heard, when the dot com bubble burst the prices for houses in silcon valley went up.  Im not blaming the banks for that strange price movement, I blame the system of subsidies that comes via central government

It might have banks dealing in it but its the government allowing that debt to occur and accumulate further.   The normal process is for debt to get called out, rates rise and ratings reduce for those with poor history.   Theres a kickback effect to poor returns that restricts further growth of those negatives.
Government is not a competitive market, it can become massively wrong because it goes unchallenged.   I dont care who in politics is right or wrong but the system overall of untested debt, non competitive market and unilateral laws is probably allowing a greater future failure to build up.    That means 2008 is going to reoccur  in some shape or form.  Those events were just a tremor compared to future failure seems likely, going by trillions owed and trade deficits etc.

Hows that pair into crypto I dont know.   At least one view I heard is crypto relies on loose dollar and cant survive without it.    Or it might thrive with the world aware and accepting debt must be ended/paid, leading to devaluation of dollar and higher prices for everything priced in dollar

Dragon slumbers softly near lair.
1h

Couple of things of interest. A small "tweezer's" early this morning has us in a nice little consolidation phase. I do not expect this local bottom to last long, perhaps it might be a good area to look for a dip to buy into. ymmv and please dyor.

4h

Combined with what I have seen on the daily..I am feeling more confident about this being one of those upward wave A scenario.

Daily

There are continued bullish signals such as the doji candle we saw on Saturday to the crossing of the tenkan over the chikou(lagging span crossing over the conversion line). Things are looking up. While not as strong as a upward movement as some would like to see..I will take it as a positive. Momentum can take awhile to shift direction..be patient.
3830  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 20, 2018, 06:08:44 PM
These areas continue to resonate with me. A sharp downward consolidation followed by sideways and upward accumulation. We are either at the end of a long generic whip crack or at the beginning of a upwards wave A(?) if your into that EW stuff. You could even call it a cup and handle if you look at it just right..   Grin
Not the greatest SL but maybe a bottom perhaps? It feels like a bottom. I think the time for cheap corn is getting close to the end..we might not look back once we pass into 5 figures.

It looks like we might be testing the upper $8k's soon.  Hodling here at $8.5k or breaking above $8.65k on the daily candle would be confirmation imho.

Thank you for that fine look deep into my personal psychology Jay. /s
There is no rage quit and many of you...perhaps all..mistake my disappointment for anger over which way the market decides to turn. I have told you before and will tell it to you again..I day trade very very little. When and if I do have to sell coins its only to cover operational costs for certain things at a very fundamental level. I am not trying to promote my "book" to anyone or hope to influence market direction to make a bigger "bag".  Muh bags are just fine thank you very much. I can only wear one pair of pants at time just like everyone else. Material things have less and less relevance in my daily routine as the years go by.

When my disappointment shows, it is due to having a moment where the entire world is watching bitcoin and it just slips away. The call to arms was issued...the sword raised high.

I cant for the life of me understand why anyone is selling coins at all for under $10k tbh.. I think most are in agreement the potential value is far in excess of that.

When things tend in a direction I have indicated of course I feel satisfaction and gratitude that the majority feels the same way. I honestly just try to tell what I am seeing and feeling. I have no idea why I have this need to "save" you..  It is a mental sickness I am sure.  Charts go up and charts go down..its in the nature of things.

So this brings us full circle..its not the why or how of price direction that causes me pain..it is the fact that if I post something here..and someone takes that as the gospel..and then..markets doing what they do..it goes another direction..that is what I stress about and lose of sleep over. Its that simple.

With that in mind I think its best if I get back to the basics and accept my retirement with as much grace as possible. I am supposed to be enjoying my golden years and limiting my stress intake, its not happening mucking around here. There are many out there with much more talent to show you what anyone with half a brain can see on the charts.

Now..with all that off my chest...I can get back to being a happy grumpy old man. Summer and the Fall are my time for travel and being out and about..the time for a good soak approaches.
...that is what I hand meant when I said see you next year..and who said I was referring to a terran calander.

Be kind..be thoughtful..give freely.
I am still observing.

Could you please post one of your TA charts that actually got the price right in, let's say, the last 6 months? I'd  be glad to see if it's worth watching you or if I better scroll down these huge charts

No..I cant. Fear not..see below.

I am feeling something from your posts, Toxic poxit.

Seems like every few days your chart prognostics are shifting with the prevailing winds.

UP then SIDEWAYS then UP then DOWN then SIDEWAYS then UP then DOWN then UP then SIDEWAYS and now seemingly DOWN.   Cry Cry

Kind of like rollercoaster.....

Makes me feel like this:

snip

Are you looking to me to post charts that you can make investment strategies from? I thought this was a speculation forum. [redacted]

You want me to give my honest opinions? They change as does the market. You want me to be a cheerleader...see above. Bitcoin is doing what it always does. What ever the fuck it wants. I think the consensus is a non-issue so far and many are waiting around for a pump to acquire more coin. Markets do not work that way. If everyone thinks it going up it most likely will not, instead it will do the opposite and pull the rug out from under you. Just to mess you up. Surprisingly, I am somewhat comforted with the fact there has not been a huge pump and dump so far...it shows sign of a maturing market. We are still not there imho though..hence..
I will see you all sometime next year. ciao.

Good morning. Still hodling onto hope that a small mercy pump might happen for Consensus. But that is all it would be, a local pump. Nothing fundamental indicates a need for the price to go upward for now. We should know within 24 hours which direction the market will decide to go. I am looking closely at 9:00am tomorrow for some reason...wishful thinking on my part perhaps.  Must likely when despair is at its height there will be a surge upward to close longs. Otherwise I am seeing sideways and downward tendencies starting to develop. Bitcoin continues to be the safest and most secure store of value for now. Thats about it. #dyor.

The only good news I have at the moment is we are still well above the downward trend line that has plagued us all spring. I think once people figure out there is not going to be a massive pump we will retest that zone.

Thoroughly testing resistance and support at the $8.35k range.

I like this chart by @CryptoTrooper  I think that third red area might be a shorter one like the first however.

Was that a Bat signal I spotted on the hourly?

I think we are at the cusp. What happens over the next several hours will determine the course of the rest of the summer. Its rare to have such a obvious defining moment.

At the very least I believe we will retest the the tenkan(blue line) on the 4hr and quite possibly  kijun(red line).

This in turn might cause the trailing chikou(green) to cross above the tenkan creating a cascade upwards into the kumo(red cloud). All sorts of interesting things could start happening then.
