may also be because it seems to take forever to get funds cleared in

If anybody else has any issues with deposits, you can PM me and I'll assist you. There is no known issue so far.

mine cleared after I emailed them
3323  Economy / Speculation / Re: Crash to $2 imminent. Willing to bet. on: September 12, 2011, 06:33:17 PM
I bet on $100 that bitcoin will crash to $2. I am certain because everytime it crashed, it first went up 1-1.5 dollars. Today happened the same, from 4.7 to 6 or more.

I take that bet provided you put  reasonable  limits to it, say that it has been under $2 for more than 1 day @ next Friday, 12:00 UTC.

This is great - looks like, so far, none of the trolls will put their money where their mouth is. How surprising!

in theory its a good idea "the way to instantly pay with zero fees to anyone anywhere in the world" BUT i rather pay the 3% paypal fees and i can use a stable currency and there are professionals behind this and actualy control themes. not something that went from 0.01 USD to 30 and then back to 6... and the sites where you can trade the currency being hacked several times. and who the bleep is mt gox ?? have you heard about them beforfe ? who is behind it ? if they would decide to take all the money and fly to thailand what would you do ? nothing but a stupid face.

and just one THEORETICAL example :

what would be if the developer of this software pumped a good amount of the money into the market initially and caused this hype ? (and holding like 85% of all the bicoins). paying himself for bitcoins he generated with his own software...

i dont get how people can be this naive... you could make some good money with bitcoin mining- yes - but buying bitcoins ? give me a break.

I transferred $1500 from GBP to $ dollars using bitcoin when it was crashing (with almost zero fees) . I maintained my stored value (I was quick). It doesn't matter how much bitcoin is worth if you want to use it to transfer stored value. That functionality is worth a lot.

yes, I too think that this may become a major use for Bitcoins in the future, when I transfered GBP to $ via XE-Trade last week I got mid market rates less about 1.3% (& no fees from them or from either bank), I wouldn't risk doing this though until the Btc price was a lot less volatile, it would take me a couple of hours (4 at weekends) to get the money from my UK bank account to the Britcoin exchange & they don't have the volumes to be sure to buy Btc there fast, when I used Mt.Goxxed UK deposit option it took about 2 days to appear (they didn't mention this) & the Btc rate had then changed from under $6 to over $9, they said they were going to fix this poor service but seem, as of today, to just have removed being able to do this at all within the UK

I transfered bitcoins that I'd bought for GBP at Britcoin to MtGoxxed & that went smoothly, I checked after about an hour (at W/E) & they were cleared, I'm holding them but if this was to exchange GBP to $ then one could sell instantly & withdraw the funds to a US $ bank account, I have one linked but haven't tryed this yet so need to check what the fees would be, but if less than 1% it would be a winner when the Btc price was more stable & if/when MtG allowed UK bank free GBP FPS 'faster' transfers to them
3326  Economy / Economics / Re: It looks like the Bitcoin's value is about to see a major retrace on: September 11, 2011, 06:49:18 PM
I know I'm not selling my coins until it hits $30 USD. It reached that point and then backed down. No one in the right mind is going to sell right now when it's $25 USD.

Actually I could be interested in such a service, albeit from someone with an excellent reputation and real name/address.

żBruce then maybe?
3329  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Hedge Fund on: September 08, 2011, 08:09:45 PM
Exaggerated example trade:
-Customers deposit 1k bitcoins in July
-I think it's a good short, so I sell all their bitcoins into USD -> $15,000
-I think $5 is a good buy, so I trade all their USD into bitcoins -> 3k bitcoins
-Customers want their bitcoin back - I take 10% of their profits: 300 bitcoin; customers receive 2.7k bitcoins

Because that would be only 2k profilt (3k - 1k), you shouldn't you take only 200 coins?

trust an anon 11 posts who even in his example shows that he'll scam you for an extra 100 Btc on a good day, a so called trader who can't do simple maths - this really can't fail to garner "substantial interest" to invest the example given of 1000 Btc with him lol

"Exaggerated example trade:"  no kidding Bruce
3330  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Yubikey use across sites? on: September 06, 2011, 08:27:43 PM
I've a regular Yubikey (as well as a free Mt.Goxxed one) that I got with a Lasspass Pro package, seems it's an open one & any site that wishes to contract Yubikey's service & not order proprietary keys could easily add this double authorisation to their sites, then if you have a Yubikey you just get the site to recognise it (2 seconds) & that's it - wish my banks would do this (will ask them) & Gmail too (even though they have phone DA) because I like the physical key & change phones (sim cards/numbers) when I travel

3332  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who else sold out? on: September 06, 2011, 05:29:15 PM
Technical chart trends point to down:

http://blog.bitcoinwatch.com/

$6 was nearly breached today from $7.5, I think that we may see a slide to $5 quite easily & with Fin CEN, KYC for MSB on 27th Sept being bearish
3333  Economy / Speculation / Re: What's causing BTC price to dip below $7? (Answer inside) on: September 06, 2011, 12:17:56 PM
Less new people are buying btc.  Miners are always selling some.  People holding btc are noticing the slow decline and want to cut their losses or buy back for a better price later.

the last part is exactly my case

& to add to the list are the Mybitcoin thieves who've now finished washing the stolen Btc, have arranged safe enough ways to cash out in bulk & who also see the post Bitcon high dive
3334  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who else sold out? on: September 06, 2011, 10:55:17 AM
My trading history

Bought 3 Aug 2011 Britcoin

1 @ $10.00
5 @ $9.84

Bought 6 Aug

50 @ $8.70
70 @ $8.22
8 @ $8.53

Bought 7 Aug

10 @ $6.58
13 @ $6.56

Bought 15 Aug Mt.Gox

145.19 @ $11.2

Bought 16 Aug

0.525 @ $11.1

Sold 27 Aug Mt.Gox

I wonder if this would be tax deductable, can't see why not

lost faith - nope, lost money - yep
3335  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: HOWTO create a bootable usb Bitcoin wallet in 4 easy steps on: September 05, 2011, 02:24:19 PM
many thanks, when I'm ready to keep my own wallet I plan on following this guide & the other advise that's posted on the forum, for now watching the thread - it's much appreciated
3336  Bitcoin / Meetups / Re: EUROPEAN BITCOIN CONFERENCE 2011, PRAGUE NOV 25-27 on: September 04, 2011, 12:15:05 AM
an option to buy conference entry only? i'm quasi local and the bed & breakfast is uhm, overpriced compared to couch surfing and budget gourmet dining at pubs for dinner. no need to make it "cesky sen" style for free but keep in mind the 26$ entry fee for the August NY gig. there was even a lady present ; )

oranges & lemons, while a low entry fee is essential if you want any general public to even look in for 1 day & is the best way to spread Btc, the NY operation on the other hand was just a cover for a known scammer's pump & dump operation, pumped up with BS hype to over $11, crashed to under $8 with the total lack of any important news releases & none what so ever in the main stream media, easy money for those setting it up, you'd almost think that the 'pedo island cruise' etc was announced there just for the purpose of crashing the price to the max

ps - didn't I see BWanker on your original guest speakers wish list, that'd be fun to see/hear - but still not worth $150+ walk in
3337  Economy / Services / Re: $182.7 million lottery, equivalent to over the max of 21 MM Bitcoins on: September 03, 2011, 03:43:22 PM
Sorry about rude words man, maybe I'm just in a bad mood. But seriously move this thread to marketplace section.

accepted, I've tryed deleating it here but it says you can't delete your own topic, I've tried 'send to' but that's something else so pse report it to the mods to move & again my appologies to those who got bothered by it, I'm awk for a couple of hrs now - to buy some tickets so if in the most unlikely event the Btc price jumps overnight to $1,000 + next week you'll at least know prob why
3338  Economy / Services / Re: $182.7 million lottery, equivalent to over the max of 21 MM Bitcoins on: September 03, 2011, 03:23:54 PM
Move this to the right section, asshole. This forum gets shittier every day.

Ut! not so fast! What's the magic word?
❒ Please
❒ Thank you.
❒ Blow me.
❒ Bkow
✓ Bomf

my apologies to others if this is in the wrong section, mods pse move it as I don't know how, I see plenty similar on general Btc here - or better yet ignore it poster then & save yourself getting potty mouthed
3339  Economy / Services / Re: $182.7 million lottery, equivalent to over the max of 21 MM Bitcoins on: September 03, 2011, 02:54:09 PM
As I recall Euromillions can only be won by someone resident in the EU so uh, yeah.

no such thing, do you imagine that tourists & travellers don't play it when there're here, so please link to an actual fact like on the Euromillions site's terms & conditions before spouting off & as you'd hold the ticket do you think it would be so hard to find a safe way to get it cashed like through a law firm proxy for example even if this was the case, which it isn't
3340  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] BTC Monitor on: September 03, 2011, 12:49:14 PM
If you don't have a wallet on you computer, which also has "some weird progs on it that I don't trust", why are you afraid to run this? Smiley
One more untrusted program won't change anything.

whatever is on it has been there from pre Bitcoin days, this is specifically Btc linked & while I'm sure it is fine or you'd be called out fast, I'm just following best practice here

you're doing the right thing Otoh.  wait...

thanks doc, just because I may or may not have the sniffles or a cat flea or 2 doesn't mean I stop wearing a condom
