3101  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do Europeans deposit/withdraw into Mt. Gox? on: January 27, 2012, 04:02:37 PM
yep wire is working very well & fast, I've just sent another & as it's now Saturday early a.m. in Tokyo it will be interesting to see when this one clears in to Gox from their bank, also I've edited my post above to apologies to Gox as I'd made an error re stating the amount of my previous wire incorrectly when asking them to watch out for it's arrival
3102  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do Europeans deposit/withdraw into Mt. Gox? on: January 27, 2012, 06:40:41 AM
I can confirm that my wire was credited to my Gox account well within 24 hrs of having been sent, because of the posts above I had also contacted them & requested that they make certain there would be no problems, but support just returned a list of questions about the transfer when I had already given them plenty of info to ID the wire, luckily it went through automatically & fast

Next up I hit Gox's 1,000 BTC daily withdrawal limit for verified clients, I asked for this to be increased & am very pleased to report that it was almost immediately - great customer service as it should be

Edit: I owe & gave Gox an apology, I'd stated the amount of the wire incorrectly when I contacted them & also they responded & raised my limits within 3 minutes of me asking for this so all round it was great customer service & wire possessed in record time especially when compared to some banks
3103  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do Europeans deposit/withdraw into Mt. Gox? on: January 26, 2012, 02:17:57 PM

But both are not working at the moment according to MtGox support. Had an open issue with MtGox support last week and finally diverted to another exchange.

Quote from: Mt.Gox Support

Paxum and International wire are the best choice at this point in your case. We are currently looking for other alternative as well.

Mt.Gox Support, kindly state whether this is the case or not for you receiving wire funds in Japan as there is no indication on the deposit $ instructions page on your site atm & as I just sent you a large amount today please respond accurately & urgently as I have had issues with your service in the past which I expected you to have permanently resolved by now, many thanks

also anyone else recently wired funds to them I'd appreciate any feedback please
3104  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do Europeans deposit/withdraw into Mt. Gox? on: January 26, 2012, 09:57:56 AM
I use XEtrade, very easy to set up, a few hours ago I sent Gox some & was charged a £12.55 wire fee & the rate of exchange was the usual mid market rate minus 1.4%

If you happen to visit the States then you can open up a $ bank account there quite easily & then send money as above to it with no fee at all, then to Dwolla & on the Gox for just 25 cents, first method is the fastest though

Also if you happen to be in the UK then you can send funds free by 'faster transfer' to Intersango's Lloyds account which will be with them in a few hours, their BTC buy & sell prices are usually not as competitive as Gox being a smaller exchange but good if you're in a hurry

Edit: Intersango have no fees atm & I believe are owned by BTC developers or similar so very respectable
3105  Economy / Speculation / Re: [Poll] What do you think the price will be 7 days froim now? on: January 22, 2012, 09:35:33 PM
BTC a virtual currency being fought over by bots, seems appropriate, I wonder if one could pitch this to the Tee Vee as a concept/competition, open for all bots to enter, Anthropomorphic them somewhat to at least robot like level - the TA bot, the GS & MS bots (will arrange for Bitcoin to be made illegal or compulsory whilst playing), the Mystic bots, Voodoo bots, 100% Bull bots, bear bots, momentum bots, MIT bot, etc., give them each (or let them put up) a $100 & BTC 25 float to start with & let the wars begin, first bot to $1,000 or BTC 250 wins all the other looser bot's stakes, adjust for 2nd, 3rd place & wooden spoon prizes if needed, can use all exchanges & Bitcoinica (any number of accounts there), executed positions shown once a day, active (& cancelled) ones not revealed until after game ends

let loose the bitcoin bots of war (catch phrase)

I just sent an unrelated book today to a friend of a friend for a friend who works for the studios in LA at a high level & know also a sometimes successful screenplay writer, may just see if they'd fancy a bite

edit: there would only be one episode though I see because the manipulator's bot would win every time as he swung $250,000 back & forth on the exchanges & Btc-ica to guarantee it

*crumples up draft pitch & lobs it in to the bin
3106  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoinica "zhoutonging price" formulae (unofficial) on: January 22, 2012, 12:39:49 AM
many thanks

yep, I do have FF & added all the add ons that I enjoyed with my old Windows comp, then imported the bookmarks from Safari which has them in neat folders which is what I really liked, so I guess I'm best deleting FF & reinstalling to then get the whole new Safari bookmarks & folders imported, not sure once I do that I can keep adding folders though or adjusting their contents - will need to check it out again & it means that I'll have to install all the FF add ons again I guess

re 3 - thanks again I shall also add web of trust, the others already

re 4 - I use LastPass Pro with a Yubi key so that's covered

re PS - yep, I don't mind where it is, I just want to be able to keep sets of bookmarks in folders like Safari does

Many thanks again for helping me try & work this out, tomorrow i'll reinstall FF & try out the BTC Zhoutonging warning script, though hopefully not in rl
3107  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoinica "zhoutonging price" formulae (unofficial) on: January 21, 2012, 11:09:15 PM
many thanks, I have Firefox + greacemonkey & Chrome, just haven't been using them hardly since I moved to Mac for the first time a couple of months ago & tend now to just stick with Safari because my Bookmarks are there & don't migrate/update to FF or CRM except for when I first loaded those browsers & are now out of date for my needs, I like the extensions available in FF a lot but have got used to having the bookmark folders above the tabs bar now & find them even more useful, I will check it out on Chrome tomorrow - thanks again
3108  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoinica "zhoutonging price" formulae (unofficial) on: January 21, 2012, 10:28:49 PM
nope I'm using Safari on  Mac & when I save the page it's just a webachive & doesn't do anything but display the same page of code as the original, I tried dragging it in to Apps & on to the browser but just the same, so I guess that I need to be using either Firefox with greacemonkey extension or Chrome to make it work, by walk through how you do this I mean for someone who only downloads via clicking the download now button on sites & knows next to nada about how the Internets & computers works, i.e. one of the non geeky 99%
3109  Economy / Speculation / Re: Sleepless? Tired? No time for family? on: January 21, 2012, 06:27:38 PM
Ah. And I forgot:
Any need for a Bitcoinica-Alarm?

absolutely essential I'd say  Wink

& glad that you like & had considered before the ZT-ing alarm/calc  Smiley

edit: plus Khou is most generous with rewarding apps that help Bitcoinica's clients
3110  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoinica "zhoutonging price" formulae (unofficial) on: January 21, 2012, 06:20:24 PM
Work great here too, thank you. Could you make it also work with session login with www.bitcoinica.com? Thanks.

Thanks. I've updated the script to work with www.bitcoinica.com. Please re-download it.

could someone walk me through how to download it (on Safari if that makes a difference), I went to http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1127246/bitcoinica.user.js & see the script but have only ever downloaded things by pressing Download here buttons before, I could save it (the page?) & try & open it or something by I expect that's not how it works, sry for my tech noobness & thanks for any help
3111  Economy / Speculation / Re: Sleepless? Tired? No time for family? on: January 21, 2012, 06:05:19 PM
how about making a Zhoutonging calculator, as per formulae in his thread

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=56797.0;all

entry field 1: Long / Short

entry field 2: Current Bid (changes to Ask if you've entered Short)

entry field 3: Net Value

entry field 4: Maintenance

entry field 5: Amount

entry field 6: BTC Balance

The calc then does the formulae:

F1 = Long
F2 - (F3 - F4) / (F5 + F6) = ZT

F1 = Short
F2 + (F3 - F4) / (F5 - F6) = ZT

refinements, to be able to also enter any Limit & Stop orders that you have between F2 & ZT

a couple of alarm fields perhaps & an appropriate sound effect for hitting the ZT price

I see that M4v3R has posted a script for this, but I like Jessi stand alone alarms/calcs without needing to keep the Bitcoinica page open, please to feel free to use any of my complementary feedbacks as testimonials etc & thanks again for your fab progs Smiley

3112  Economy / Speculation / Megadumb on: January 21, 2012, 11:52:54 AM
Megaupload's loads of $M seized & assets frozen but not one Bitcoin was, I wonder if any of them had any - probably not as they didn't bother to protect so much that's already been easily traced & locked down

"So if we post this image, are we too in breach of copyright?"

edited to add the above image, also

re comment below about seized cars not being protected by buying them in BTC from Mr stating the bleeding obvious, that just happened to be part of the title of the link & sorry if you confused that with what I actually said, my OP is about seizing of $M cash & investment instruments & another $39M or so (too tired to check) being frozen in Hong Kong

re cars being seized, they've been charged with a/multiple criminal offences so I assume the authorities regard this bling/booty as the potential proceeds of crime/s (which includes what one may spend one's alleged ill gotten gains upon) & hence will be subject to forfeiture / restitution to said victims of their doings if they're found guilty of said crimes so get impounded until proven otherwise - normal practice I would have thought just about everywhere in the uncivilised world
3113  Economy / Speculation / Re: We Should See Some Big Movement Tonight on: January 21, 2012, 10:08:22 AM
I wonder if we'll have another New Year's rally or strong price movements for the lunar year of the dragon kicking off on Monday

3115  Economy / Speculation / Re: Remember remember the thread of the year, and what greed can do on: January 20, 2012, 12:26:40 AM
hmmmm

nice & all that, but perhaps more for the retiring old miners to contemplate their upcoming melding with & enjoying the infinite, rather than enterprising teens like Zhou where they're be looking out over their potential new future IPO's demesne of potential infiniteness too
3116  Economy / Speculation / Re: Remember remember the thread of the year, and what greed can do on: January 19, 2012, 11:58:48 PM
in Singapore peeps live on the edge

... hey cool, the moment I previewed that the jessi alarms started to holla bull roars *goes to check if I'm now in the black again

& yes, it's so - actually I was a little while back as I'd over compensated for Khou's spreads ~ nice
3117  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you think Bitcoinica should switch to TradeHill? [Edited] on: January 18, 2012, 08:18:07 PM
I like Intersango as it's easy, free & quickish for me to deposit £s there being a Brit, at least when they have a bank account that hasn't been pulled out from under them at no notice, otherwise I go via XeTrade (1.4% less than mid market exchange rates & no fees) to my US bank account, 1 day or so & then Dwolla for 25 cents to Gox & atm I'd rather hold $s or BTC than anything € or in too close a proximity to it - I vote for these 2 as I like Gox's BTC & $ redeemable codes, Yubi keys etc & sometimes better the devil you know

I do though really like the idea of Khou setting up an exchange, completely independent from Bitcoinica or I'd feel that I had too many eggs in 1 basket (actually they're all in Khou's basket atm anyway for super margin to guard against any more shocking price gyrations) & I expect such an exchange to be superb for innovation, enthusiasm, professionalism & shaking up the Gox, I needed 3 votes really

as for TH I never found an easy way to get funds to them without fees or complications that I didn't want to get in to & haven't looked in to them enough to try & gauge their staying power or accountability
3118  Economy / Speculation / Re: Vote for Bitcoinica Leverage Change Proposal on: January 18, 2012, 12:37:04 PM
I have 10:1 leverage (or at least I did until it got pulled & then I searched the forum for why as I didn't see any explanation where the leverages available on Bitcoinica show), I rarely use though more than 2:1 with plenty of margin to account for just the sort of large price change that's happened & I'm personally fine if peeps want to make those swings using 10:1 leverage or whatever, if it can happen it will & though it's sad to be on the wrong side of these swings (which I have been sometimes) it quickly helps to teach one about leverage, volatility & risk tolerance & one can arrange a very low risk strategy for taking advantage of these - I voted no changes because I like the kinda Wild West anarchy of these relatively early BTC days, once it gets high & stable with large market cap then we will maybe even look back fondly to the Khoutonging era, anyway I don't know enough about Bitcoinica to state for sure that it wouldn't be better to implement these lower limits & if it helps keep Bitcoinica afloat then I'm all for that, whether it can be enforced I doubt but as Khou lost money by it being the way it was then he's every right to adapt the rules of his house in order to keep it profitable, trying to protect newbs & incautious/unlucky players from being Khoutonged is just folly in my opinion & a red herring
3119  Economy / Speculation / Re: New Support Price, Before We March Back Up? on: January 16, 2012, 10:08:50 PM
'Advance, and never halt, for advancing is perfection. Advance and do not fear the thorns in the path, for they draw only corrupt blood.' So said one of my favourite poets Kahlil Gibran.  Grin

edit: thorns = spikes down

edit 2: corrupt blood = peeps who have over done their leveraged longs on Bitcoinica with insufficient margin

hey Naima can you post the ID & PW for your LR account too pse, you know - just so we can see if the $990 arrived there or not  Wink

after reinstalling the operating system, I lost access to some of my old account ...  Sad

that's a shame, sounds like ur karma may have pwned you if what you say is true then, the curse of the Gox (for trying to pull a fast one on them) is not to be trifled with obviously
