People don't write smart contracts on Lisk in JS. They either develop a blockchain with special transactions (e.g. to send a message), implement a back end function (e.g. to calculate a random number), or connect to/implement directly other services (e.g. to use smart contracts, oracles, storage). Hello everyone, It seems like I am currently in a zone of China with faster internet (I am sitting in the train), or I am just lucky. (I need a VPN to access e.g. BTT and it is usually unusable slow.) I hope everything is fine. In times like these we need to unite and try to help each others. At this stage it is all about cryptocurrencies, blockchains and blockchain/decentralized apps. I wish the best for the Ethereum and TheDAO community.

It can be a major selling point but that does not mean the technology is realised and/or plausible. I have not seen a sidechain release in the wild at all.
This is my thread's point: has Lisk implemented Sidechains already? What is the roadmap? Is a blapp running on a sidechain as we speak? @LiskHQ @charleshoskinson @BigCabrito @karmacoma would be nice if you could chime in ~CfA~ It's working in an alpha state. Check out our documentation and SDK, you can simply spin up your own sidechain on Lisk. https://lisk.io/documentation?i=lisk-dapps-docs/READMEhttps://github.com/LiskHQ/lisk-sdk

@Limx Dev

i don't know why anyone is worrying, i mean even with the dump the LSK/Fiat value still averages out pretty much unchanged with the BTC rise.
It's manipulation. Always the same people.

Lisk hires Ricardo Ferro as a Tools DeveloperIn the first quarter of 2016, Lisk was created by the two crypto-enthusiasts, Max Kordek and Oliver Beddows. By the end of April the team had expanded by incorporating Joel Fernández as the community manager, Isabella Dell as a system architect and François-Xavier Thoorens as a core developer. Today, we are announcing the further expansion of the Lisk team by including the developer Ricardo Ferro, who released the Lisk Paperwallet a few weeks ago. At Lisk he is the tools developer, working on various usable tools and services for the Lisk ecosystem. Ricardo FerroRicardo is a full stack developer with over 15 years of experience in web development. He has worked with a multitude of web technologies, lately his main focus is on JavaScript and NodeJS. Working since 10 years in a traffic monitoring company as a developer and team leader, he has build up an astonishing portfolio of skills. He is a developer at heart and loves NodeJS, that is why he became extremely intrigued by Lisk. I welcome Ricardo to the Lisk team! After Oliver and I used the Lisk Paperwallet we immediately noticed the great code quality and wanted to have him in our team. I’m very happy that he accepted our offer and look forward to a great collaboration. Kind regards, Max Kordek Blog Post

Jedenfalls RT Ja.. Rocket.Chat kommt da irgendwie nicht hinterher. Wir schauen was wir machen können.

Hey guys, - I'm preparing myself for tomorrow's second community meeting. A LOT of questions were asked! Looking forward to it. Please attend or read our summary at the end on our blog. A lot will be answered, e.g. the always occurring question about bounties/rewards. - My Chinese visa was accepted last week. Yesterday, I booked the flights and I'm ready. I will stay in Shanghai for the first few days and then head to Beijing in order to attend the conference and many, many meetings. We will also do a small community meeting in Beijing, hope to meet some of you. My 80+ sheet presentation for the conference is finished, hope it will be a blast! A lot of cool concepts will be announced in it, like our concept of "blockchain services" which we are already pitching in interviews. - As you may have noticed there wasn't a lot of visible progress in the last week. That was because we properly designed our internal structures. We now have proper internal communication and organisation channels in place. Please note, this early in the game we are still refining our organisation. That's why the start is a bit slow, but once everything is in place progress will be more frequent, more visible, and bigger. - If everything works with my Russian visa I will be in Moscow end of June / early July. I'm trying to take a look at the WAVES office, looking for interior inspiration. - In July I will most probably (it's not 100% certain right now) be in Berlin again. Expanding my network there, startup and blockchain related. Cheers! Max After 1 week away on vacation, im looking forward for the community meeting! Dont forget the Websummit in Lisbon on 8-10 November! Would be awesome if Lisk was there and i can show you around my awesome City I had a meeting today with the awesome Jenny from WebSummit. I will contact you as soon as I can.

Good news! Japanese exchange coincheck may be adding Lisk trading soon! self.Lisk Submitted 9 hours ago by nyanpi I live in Japan, so today I decided to message coincheck, a large Japanese crypto exchange that currently only offers BTC, ETH, and DAO trading to ask about possibly adding Lisk to their exchange. Well, I got a reply back almost instantly: 貴重なご意見ありがとうございました。 社内でも検討しておりますので、取引ができるよう準備を進めたいと思います。 Translation: "Thank you for your question. We are already considering Lisk and are preparing to offer it for trading soon." Super stoked about this!
Thank you for your efforts.

Echt klasse!

I received private messages from users asking if Lisk has anything to do with DL(i)sk. We don't, it's a fork of our code and the team took our name for inspiration.
Good luck!

I'll update it and see if I can deploy it to the mainnet. I think it shows the potential of Lisk quite good.

Lets not forget all the times the Facebook CEO made a fool of himself with his comments. Luckily he has learned as time went by. I hope Max will as well for the well being of all of the investors of LSK.
I learn something new every day.

Hello everyone, I am a long time reader of this forum..invested into ETH back around Sept of last year. I am wondering is it worth selling some of my ETH or all and buy LISK?
I have some questions regarding this project first thank you, :
1. What advantages does LISK hold over other crypto coins in terms of value - coin supply etc ?
2. What advantages does LISK hold over other coins in terms of tech? - how innovative is this coin? - as innovative as ETH?
- sorry for stupid questions. This is my first Post here on BTC talk and looking forward to building a strong community. I really like the idea and name of this coin. Just have some questions that need answering first.
Thanks so much guys.
Hello LiskKing, 1. In comparison to other crypto coins on the market we have the huge advantage of a strong leadership and $8M in fundings. Only a handful of projects have this, I think right now there is only Waves, Ethereum, and all Ethereum sub-currencies like DigixDAO. That means we are in the same comfortable situation as other top projects. We can properly develop and promote our platform for many years. An advantage in the coin supply is not relevant. We have 100,000,000 LSK right now and it's rising slowly after community delegates are in the top 101. I don't see any advantage in a coin with 10M or 1BN coins. If we speak about market cap and volume we have a lot of advantages. We are in the top 10 that means we get a lot of attention and publicity. Everyone into altcoins knows Lisk and developers see Lisk as a big enough platform to build on. With a daily volume of a few millions consistently since launch we are also a good project for traders. I think these numbers will only grow the more users and apps we get, but that is of course only speculation. 2. In my opinion Lisk is extremely innovative on a meta layer. So innovative that it attracts a lot of hate and FUD. We are utilising sidechains as the first cryptocurrency ever, we are the first platform ever for blockchain applications written in JavaScript. It's important to know that Lisk is using the best parts of other projects (DPoS, sidechains, JavaScript) in order to build an innovative mix. In itself these parts are not extremely innovative, but sophisticated technologies. The real innovation will come with the blockchain apps build on top of Lisk. The Lisk platform is an enabler for innovation by using technologies which were built by the brightest minds on earth in the past years. Additionally, we put a lot of our focus into the mainstream and consumer market. This might not manifest itself at this moment, but in 1-2 years people will see how all the different puzzles come together. JavaScript: Opens up blockchain technology and decentralization to the masses. Sidechains: Makes an app independent of the system and lets the whole system scale massively in an easy way. If it's not enough the complicated stuff can always be integrated later on. Web user interface: Changes can be introduced very quickly, new features can be added easily by nearly every web developer. Application directory: Establishes Lisk as an alternative to Apple's App Store or Google's Play Store, giving the users a direct overview of all apps running on the Lisk network. DPoS: Makes the whole platform and ecosystem self-sufficient. In a more centralized (but therefore faster) way than a DAO, projects can be funded, causes can be supported, and the community as a whole with the 101 delegates in front of them can decide on where to spend the money. In the coming years the decision process can always be switched out for a completely decentralized solution. It's important to know that Lisk is just at its beginning. We launched two weeks ago and a lot of work until now just went into managing things and getting the necessary processes in play. Once everything is established the development will be faster and more efficient. Additionally, there might be a lot of uncertainties at this stage. But that's always the case for new and innovative projects. E.g. if someone says that an app can only be done with smart contracts, we can integrate them into our sidechains. If someone says that there is no synergy between Lisk apps, there can always be bridges built creating synergy. A lot is moving, the current technical state about Lisk says nothing about the future Lisk. Thank you so much for your detailed and thought out response sir. You are welcome.

@LISK HD (MAX) When is the big announcement? i don't know, but it had better be good - Peter and the wolf comes to mind. reputations are on the line here. all ive heard is two advisers name will be given. it must be a really big deal if they buildng this kind of hype. if not imafraid it could crash We said nothing at all about the announcement itself. Just that we announce something bigger this week to which I'm on a personal level really looking forward to. All hype is generated by the community, not by us. People need to calm down. This is just the beginning and everything done at this moment is to get the foundation right. We need a strong one to build on.

access denied, when i turn on forging... umm what did i just do? /facepalm
Anyone figure out why it states access denied when you try to enable forging via login.lisk.io? (The web wallet) Never saw a solution posted for this... You need to setup your own server to forge. login.lisk.io doesn't allow it due to security reasons.
