361  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Enquiry about current services used in this forum on: April 27, 2013, 04:08:21 PM
Also another things occured to me.Since I still have questions to ask,I was looking into selling off debts that people owe me (as I'm owed 5BTC from bad loans on top of more substantial debts in real life due to defaulters and I was hoping the BTC world can offer me advice, solutions or a way to offload these debts)

I may have asked this before (but I can't recall as it was made more than a year ago, that query) but since a lot of things have changed on here, what is the best way to go about this as I need to recoup some of the losses (I understand that debts can only be sold off from 2% to 15% of the debt's value at most according to wikipedia and accepted practice in the financial world).

Is this possible?

Thanks

I'd like to speak to you via DM as I have an old GPU that got replaced by my current HD6950 GPU.The old card works fine, only issue is with the fan assembly (Lost an important part when reapplying thermal grease to fix an overheating issue).

Can this be eligible for your offer.I'm also based in UK so you must be prepared to pay for shipping (UK and international) is you do decide to go ahead with any deal. Smiley
363  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Enquiry about current services used in this forum on: April 26, 2013, 01:53:36 PM
That answers all my questions so far.I'm looking to fund a move and I thought selling off some things would help the move go smoother and give working items a second life to people who want them (not many I'll admit, but there's always that one).

Question now,is how to offer an escrow service to help others on here while charging a small comission as this'll help me speed things up a bit for the move.I'll give more info in due course. Smiley

364  Other / Off-topic / Re: [WTS] My soul, 21BTC. on: April 26, 2013, 01:31:30 PM
Are you seriously telling me that it's actually possible to sell your soul? I'm curious to learn more about how it's possible? Why would you (OP) want to sell your soul? I was looking to sell some things on here then I stumbled across your thread.Very interesting. Smiley
365  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The Confiscation Scheme Planned for US and UK Depositors on: April 26, 2013, 01:20:37 PM
So it looks like the UK wil have to resort to seizing a portion of all saver's funds.I had a feeling since news of the Cyprus bank bailout plan that the UK would eventually be hit.Question is how quickly will this happen, what the limits are before your savings are taken off you and what recourse you'll have?

I'll need to get all my money out from the banks at some point (managing multiple accounts isn't easy).

366  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Political Party/Politics (UK) on: April 26, 2013, 11:39:29 AM
There's been a few threads about "what will you do with your bitcoin wealth."

And I've been umming and ahhing, etc, etc, havn't got 'loads' myself (having come late to btc in 2012, and then just for silk road, before I realised what Bitcoin was).

But if Bitcoin does rise in value to a suitable amount by 2014 - I propose a new Political Party (which I'd setup myself if btc increases to a suitable amount that I'd be able to afford to). If it rose to a suitable amount by the end of this year, then I'd start it then.

So, here's me wondering if anyone else from the UK would be interested in standing for office? (as an MP) in the general elections in 2015. And honestly, being a politician is pretty easy tbh, though you get a fair bit of hassle from time to time and I expect the party that we'd create would get some media drama also Cheesy fun fun!

It needs an executive group, ideals, etc, etc, I'd start writing up a mandate if there was interest and btc looked like it was about to enter the singularity (or if it was already in the singularity). Might start writing one up anyway...

Anyway, not to get into it too much straight away, the general gist of the party mandate would be freedom and escape from banking control. Three main criteria, free energy (supporting free energy), natural medicine (ending the farce of a 'drug war', yes this means ALL drugs (but not a free for all), not just Cannabis) and a free economy (I wonder how 'introduction of Bitcoin into mainstream economic practice' would be received).

It is most definitely NOT a 1 man job, and obviously it would need finance backing (this is why I say only possible if btc rises to a suitable amount in value).

Unfortunately I'll only do this if I can afford to, the elite to have it nicely wrapped up that politics in the UK is generally only opened to those with money, and if you want to get anywhere, then definitely only those with money.

And you don't have to stand to be an MP if you still want to help, you can easily just be a party member, or (if/when it happens) just donate.

If there's honest interest then post a reply or feel free to PM me.

We are in the belly of the beast. Who's brave enough?

Can this please be used as an oppourtunity to repeal the Digital Economy Act 2010? As there are many issues, including the restriction, blocking and throttling of P2P applications (bittorrent, file sharing, maybe even Bitcoin since it runs on P2P tech) so I can use the internet more freely?
367  Other / Politics & Society / Re: This is the thread where you discuss free market, americans and libertarianism on: April 26, 2013, 11:27:14 AM
Can this thread also be used to give an easy to understand summary to someone who doesn't fully understand the big deal with libertarianism or the free markets? An easy to understand/brief summary will make an idea more attractive to people not in the know.Thanks. Smiley
368  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Butterflylabs Huge SCAM on: April 24, 2013, 09:36:25 PM
its' all about your perception, imagine that you bought not an actual device but made generous donation for arthouse video production. Main plot is about some geeks who test some blackbox devices. It's very bording and fake, but hey, it's art. Grin

Best post about BFL in this forum. Shipping and sending out demos to propaganda outlets are somewhat different.

It's a matter of perception for me but since my experience with BTC has never been trouble free (like it ought to have been really),it will continue to give me a poor impression as things like BFL not replying to my queries for an ridiculously long time only to find that an order placed will take months to arrive, even with the express delivery. Are these BFL guys actively trying to put people off participating with BTC altogether with their actions?Because that's the impression I'm getting so far.

An ASIC in my hands will be exciting for me but since I'll never get it within 3 weeks from ordering (like I did with the Mugen Power battery for my old N900 phone) I may as well not bother at all.Have these guys actually expanded on production so that deadlines will be a matter of 2 weeks or something similar?
369  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Butterflylabs Huge SCAM on: April 24, 2013, 09:24:19 PM
I have wanted to buy an ASIC for a longtime but repeated issues in this area have convinced me to just give up on the ambition as it's just too much trouble and I have a busy schedule doing things to get into the film/TV industry (get a real job and earn the conventional way without complications) and this situation just adds extra demands on my time which I could do witout (checking on BTC value several times a day to profit, checking on threads like this to check out whether or not BFL ASICs will actually deliver or if they even exist for me)

Are these ASICS actually out now?If so how long can I expect them to ship to the UK as I was hoping to test them out? Has anyone actually got the BFL ASICS in their hands and tested power use/hash power?Would appreciate feedback before committing to a purchase.

The one thing that really bothers me about BTC is the issue of lack of stability and lack of trust in everyone (including BFL).For people like me who are used to living in countries like UK where there are lots of laws to keep things moving along, they will continue to struggle in the BTC world until extensive regulations are adopted for BTC but most people will resist this thereby pushing away users who are fascinated by BTC but aren't happy to accept less than stellar things about it (new technology always has it's issues).

Thanks Smiley
370  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Enquiry about current services used in this forum on: April 24, 2013, 06:21:16 PM
Well based on your responses, the standards on this forum have definately changed.People are more to the point now and troll less (which is better for me but wil take some getting used to)

I'm aware that not everyone trolls aggressively online which is why I mentioned that.Only this forum seems to have this issue form what I've observed.Since I came back, the issue has calmed down a lot which has convinced me to give this place a second chance (otherwise go back to UK only based sites where numerous laws apply to speech if stuff doesn't work out but hopefully it will.It pays to have a positive attitude)

Writing skills I meant as a response to people who still say they're hiring others to write articles for them, not that I'm offering full time services as a writer as my schedule is too busy to allow this.

Video editing services can be advertised in services.

Didn't realise that this was forum policy for bitmit links so I accept that.

Do you honestly think that people are silly if they only want a working HDD just to install their mining software/OS? The SATAII drive will be useful, the other one not so much (as most people don't use IDE anymore for nearly a decade and only those with really old PCs still use them)

I simply wanted to bring the experience I saw outside BTC into the BTC world, that's all.I thought it was innovative at the time. There is a demand for this, just not from users of BTC for some reason unlike other sites that ask people to buy film credits to crowdfund a film.

Didn't really account for shipping outweighing the fan's value (worth about £9 last time I checked and shipping would be UK only to address shipping costs) so thanks for the tip.

I'll give computer hardware a go for the Mi-Fi and computer parts (question is,is the other stuff worth selling here as eBay always has a buyer for everything.People here are much more selective than that.)

It was my understanding that people were looking for DVI adaptors (guess I didn't realise people were still using DVI to VGA on this forum to create dummy plugs)

I only offer as I know there is demand on this forum, just getting the message out is hard.

I would like to know if I've addressed your points properly. If not, please ask me to elaborate. Smiley

Hi
Since it's been a longtime that I've been on this forum,I've seen that many things have changed on here including new standards/guidelines on selling your goods/services.Since one of the guidelines says that you should do your research on what people would want to buy on here,I'm making this thread asking for feedback as to what sells and what doesn't as I'm hoping to sell off a few things (goods and services) as I need to declutter (and give many working items a second life which is good for everyone)

Well can you guys give me any insight on this as I wish to thrive in the BTC world?

Skills/things I can offer:
1.Some writing skills
2.Pro video editing services (as I can work remotely)
3.Tickets since I'm running some of my lotteries again via Bitmit.net this time (as many people raised questions before and the escrow feature will reassure everyone)
4.2 HDDs (one is 80GB SATAII and other one is 300GB EIDE-I know they're old but could still be useful to some people)
5.Selling off film credits for people who wish to say they featured in a film (8 slots left)
6.Case fan (with speed controller/lights kit-Thermaltake orange 80mm fan)
7.Assorted computer parts (More info will come in due course)
8.Mi-Fi (portable 3G hotspot, currently only usable on Three UK network, sold as seen.More on that later)
9.DVI adaptor (to HDMI or Display port,I'll have to check first)
10.Rent out my forum signature for a month and more things will be available in due course.

Please no trolls, only people who are willing to give constructive feedback.
372  Economy / Services / Re: [WTS] Rent my signature for 0.15BTC a month. on: April 16, 2013, 05:16:45 PM
Time to bump and promote other things that I'm offering as well:https://www.bitmit.net/en/user/film2240

Any takers with renting my signature?

373  Economy / Marketplace / Re: [WTB Your Hashing Power] >150% PPS! on: April 15, 2013, 08:21:19 PM
I have around 400MHash/s from my HD6950 gpu.How much power do you need? What's your rep so I know that I'll definately get paid if I sell my hash power to you? Thanks Smiley
374  Economy / Services / [WTS] Rent my signature for 0.10BTC a month.Discounted. on: April 15, 2013, 05:40:08 PM
I'm looking to rent out my signature for 1 month for 0.15BTC as I thought it'd be nice to take part on these forums after a longtime of being absent on here (but then again,I'm also working hard to get into the TV industry and starting off my career isn't easy)

If anyone is interested, please post here and via PM so we can discuss details.Thanks. Smiley
375  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: EasyLTC--The Easiest Litecoin GUIMiner! on: April 12, 2013, 03:57:48 PM
Is this compatible with Mac OSX? As I'd look forward to mining on my MBP's GPU directly instead of using Pooler Miner via a Windows 7 VM (VM Ware Fusion) as I find Bootcamp inconvenient as I sometimes need to edit films in Final Cut Pro without having to restart my MBP (MacBook Pro)

I like this idea.I hope this develops further.
377  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Possibility of a contactless payment phone app? on: April 07, 2013, 02:18:31 PM
I like your idea(s) hope someone helps us americans out too!
I dont think the debit/card credit card method will ever catch on though.
Part of what makes BTC so valuable is because it's 'difficult' to get.
If everyone with a smart phone or debit card could buy it instantly it
will lose its difficulty thus making more people able to get it.

Thank you. When I talk about the bitcoin part,I mean use the bitcoins to top up a virtual debit card (like current solutions in the BTC world do) which is then turned into real money (GBP in my case) not for the buying of BTC as this'll be pointless for what I need it to do.It should be BTC to GBP use not BTC to BTC (PayPass/Paywave readers in shops can't process BTC in UK).

Bitcoins will still be 'difficult' to get (go through an exchange like Mt Gox,send real world money, convert into BTC,then send to an address).I'm talking about adding to the utility of already existing BTC in my possession not the acquiring of new ones.

I mainly propose this to avoid the whole mess I'm experiencing in UK.I thought that BTC is supposed to be a liberator from arbitrary limitations (like between rival banks/mobile phone networks/payment processors in the UK which denies me choice to spend my money however I want) which is why I proposed this.Yes we need rules but they must make sense to all of us (not the nonsense with QuickTap,O2 wallet,Google wallet, etc in the UK requiring certain handsets/SIM cards even though most NFC enabled phones with the 'secure element' could do it)

What's the situation like in the US for payments (cards,contactless-NFC,cashless,etc) as it sounds quite different from the UK to me?
Is it really true that the US still doesn't use chip and pin cards (or even contactless debit cards)?
378  Economy / Service Discussion / Possibility of a contactless payment phone app? on: April 07, 2013, 01:30:26 PM
Hi,
I've seen that a lot of people in the BTC world are offering pre paid debit cards that let you turn BTC into real world currencies (some of these are even virtual debit cards). This has left me with a question.

If it's possible to issue/create prepaid debit cards (physical/virtual) that are reloadable in BTC and can be turned into real money, then why not create a contactless payment app which models Orange Quick Tap (UK) http://www.orange.co.uk/quicktap
or Google's wallet feature, that I could then use to pay for goods/services with my phone?

I'll sum it up for you:
1.I want to make the use of cashless payments everywhere I go in UK and abroad.
2.I have a phone capable of NFC payments (Galaxy S3 LTE)
3.I don't want to carry a wallet full of paper recipts, bank notes, coins or anything else ever again (as it just falls out anyway too often for me).
4.The BTC world certainly has a lot to offer someone like me but BTC must continue to be useful in more real world applications as I can see this taking off.
5.I want to avoid the current mess in UK where most NFC wallet apps are unavailable (Google wallet) or have conflicting standards/arbitrary restrictions over which SIM cards (Quick Tap) and phones I can use.The O2 wallet has no NFC feature and no ETA on when it'll arrive.
6.I want to turn my BTC into GBP by pre loading a virtual debit card which can then be used via the NFC app to pay in places that have PayPass/PayWave readers in the UK.
7.The NFC app must be easy to use, reload and pay with.
8.Security can be addressed like this (to avoid skimming):
a.Turn off screen=NFC chip off (You don't need NFC on when it's in your pocket)
b.Screen on=NFC chip on (only useful when you actually pay)
9.The app must let you keep records of transactions (in place of a paper recipt) you make if you want (otherwise turn it off).

I know this may seem hard but I really think that BTC has a promising future and must not be held back by lack of real world applications in all form factors.Of course I can't program anything (nor should I be expected to) but I can certainly make the proposal/idea available to people who are willing to develop it (no trolls though).

Thanks for taking the time to read this Smiley
