After discussing what we could do for our Hero early adopter customers, in recognition of the fact that you guys got us to this point, we have decided to give a special status of Hero to every leonArdo customer going forward. It won't just be that you have a Hero badge in your version of margin, but it entitles you to a 50% discount on all future margin terminal subscription payments. The offer will kick in if you sign up for a subscription within a month of your free period ending.
We wanted to also make the point that switching to a subscription based model is absolutely necessary for us. We are a real company, with real employees who have families and mortgages and have to be paid at the end of each month. If the market only saw month on month growth then it might be possible to survive by sticking to the lifetime license model, but this is not the case. Catastrophic events like what happened in mid January, where a lot of cryptos lost up to 70% of their value, have a huge effect on our revenue. This puts everything we have built up in danger and if not dealt with could mean us having to close for business - which would also mean no updates for leonArdo. This was not a decision we took lightly, rather one we couldn't avoid.
I can accept this. Love to support the project, it's wonderful. Will Margin be a desktop application or a web app? will remain a desktop application. But the website supporting it will be much more full featured and allow you to add new exchange keys and immediately have them activated for example. Thanks for your support!! Jonathan |

leonArdo is rebranding as ... We are excited to announce the upcoming rebranding of leonArdo as margin and the release of a new website. This entails a number of changes for our existing hero customers and we want to run through them here.
We will switch the existing early adopter lifetime license model to a subscription-based model. Although we saw incredible growth last year and grew our team to 9 people, in order to be able to add all the great features we have in our pipeline and maintain a sustainable software company, necessitates this change.
Hum .. while i can see why this change is necessary, it will put me "out of the game" sadly. Considering my actual holdings and volumes i usually do and the taxes i will have to pay if i reach anything near the point where i could afford the payments for the new subscription model, it would mean that i have to quadruple my holdings for the very first three months - each month! - to just get to the point where i could afford the payment for the license compared to what i have now. It's a bit sad, not to say very sad. But .. well i can understand it and can see why you need to switch to that model. (To be real, i always wondered how the whole thing could work for you at all _and_ even make you able to pay for any additional staff.  ) We will see how things go forward. But i have a important question nonetheless. Will there be any way to get at least updates to API changes on the existing supported leonArdo exchanges at all? Even if that will mean we have to pay for updates, that would help a lot for us existing customers. Greetings, hacky P.s.: If you wonder about taxes, i'm a german citizen and while most of us nearly could ignore taxes at all, even over here, things change and it is already clear for us germans, that taxes are the same as if we just would do "classical" forex trading.. Which makes things not just pricey but even means that you need to have some distinct holdings and usual volumes (incl profits) in the first place... Well, luckily, as long as you stay below a minimum profit of 600 euros per year, you don't need to pay tax on this at all .... but, in december 2017 i had to be very careful to _not_ get over that point......... And it was leonArdo which enabled me to get to that point in the first place.. P.p.s.: Good luck to margin software and your staff anyways! I'm happy for you guys to expand and see the need to change up. The new features this will bring will be amazing I'm sure, you wouldn't do it otherwise.
While I will not be joining in on this journey I am happy to stay on the old leonArdo system because I am a small time investor and do not see a subscription model working for me (I'm not a Hero early adopter, just normal early adopter).

So leoNardo team after just a few weeks, I got my Ultra/Lifetime license and I thought I was covered,
you're telling me what  ?That, I also have to pay for a subscription plan to get updates now ? I remember back in December, telling us to get extra exchange licenses or ultra before the last price increase. Why am I feeling like an idiot  ? You changed the rules and left already customers/early adopters out of the 'new' margin product ?
Actually from updates.... and what are you going to do with leoNardo ? Are you going to support it (Bugs, exchanges etc) too in the future or not ? I guess not. Obviously, as an Ultra/Lifetime license holder, I have no intention to pay for any subscription, in case I was not clear.You should treat better those who bought licenses and supported leoNardo. However, you talk about us changing rules. What rules did we change exactly? You bought a lifetime license and you can keep leonArdo for life. We have had an early adopter lifetime license for over 3 years and at some point we had to change to a subscription based model. Otherwise, we could not sustain our compan, leonArdo would end in any case and there would be no updates. Rather than that future, we want to build a sustainable company. >>Are you going to support it (Bugs, exchanges etc) too in the future or not ? We cannot support two code bases I'm afraid. How do you enable the display of buy/sell vertical column chart at specific prices on the right side of the main chart?
On a different note - what do you get for the 'Starter Plan'?

You can configure leonArdo by clicking in the top left hand corner and choosing "Add Tools Window". The Starter plan allows you connect to 1 exchange on which your balance does not exceed $3000. How would multiple APIs per exchange be utilized?
Some customers have asked for this. Some want to be able to run more than a single instance of margin connecting to their exchange account on different machines. One example would be someone who is running margin on a machine at home 24/7 and wants to check in on things at work using a different machine. But there are other cases. Will probably do the same as well Bummer I am sorry, but if we didn't take this step then we would risk not being able to stay competitive. This was necessary to ensure that we could expand and do all the things we want to. We think that the Starter plan which costs $180 a year is reasonable for small investors. What does it mean for existing customers?First off, you can, of course, keep your existing version of leonArdo for life. You will also be able to use margin on the Standard plan for free for 6 months as a non-Ultra customer and for a year as an Ultra customer. At the end of that period, you have the choice to revert back to your old version of leonArdo or to support our project by adding a subscription plan.

Hey Hacky, couple points there. Yes, I was glad but also a bit surprised to hear the Pi being recommended as the ideal platform but OTOH, the thing about such SBCs, as you've hinted at, is that they are so affordable that you can use them as single-purpose machines which helps a lot with a lot of applications, including leonArdo. We definitely don't recommend doing anything besides running leonArdo on a Pi. I have the nagging feeling, however, that us strongly recommending swapspace for the Pi also has something to do with things running so smoothly there. We're still seeing those memory fragmentation issues that drive up memory usage over time, so having basically unlimited swap space will help on every machine but on the Pi, it's an absolute necessity to have ample swap space. So bottom line, just install swapspace when running leonArdo, because why not. The Pi 1 and Zero you mentioned don't support ARMv7, so they don't run leonArdo anyway! But yes, part of the reason why we didn't even consider them is the fact that the resources will be even more restricted and the Pi 3 is really affordable anyway. I haven't looked into the RK3399 you mentioned but if you're looking for a board that you can buy right now, the Banana Pi M2 and M3 have SATA and they're proven to run leonArdo. I also just got a Rock64 on my desk and while I haven't gotten around to testing leonArdo on it, with Gigabit Ethernet and eMMC I think it's quite promising. Excited to try it anyway! General note in case anyone's still reading: we're always interested in hearing your stories with different setups, especially when they're ARM! But be aware that ARM is such a diverse ecosystem that you never know how things turn out and while we want to hear how things go for you, we can't really support you with anything but the Raspberry Pi. So ARM is very much a "only if you know what you're doing" kind of affair!  Best, Christian |

Make sure to inventory and count your coins (literally) from time to time. This morning I came to realize I had been "gifted" with IGNIS (for which there was no buy history) on Bittrex, which I promptly sold. I reported a week or so ago of being jilted out of monies there over a month ago. The buy showed up in my history on the site but failed to accrue the amount in my wallet and leonArdo stopped because it could not set up the sell. After weeks and weeks (Bittrex) support has stopped sending me emails asking if I have resolved my problems?? I do not claim that one exchange is more accurate than another, but it is our responsibility to know where our coin is. (I am writing this here to remind myself) We are working on reporting features. Just a quick question: Are you sticking to the recommended and supported # of trading pairs? All the best, Rene Recommended and supported number of trading pairs?' When choosing currency pairs leonardo shows a suggestion regarding the save amounts of pairs for different exchanges (e.g. 20 on Binance). Since I am running Leonardo remotely, would it be possible to add some sort of remote notification (simple email would be ok) in case of events like succesfull trade, errors, stopped strategy, etc. ?

I have the same issue.
How long have you been running Leonardo continuously?
I am thinking something is not working right with Leonardo anymore and its miscomunicating with API.
My Leonardo has been running for days and I was having the same errors daily lately.
I rebooted Leonardo and it started working fine.
But I still think Bittrex API is crap.
I get the error ((Code: -1021)) with Binance which causes the Margin bot to stop running within a few hours! Hi, can you send the logs and a screenshot to support@marginsoftware.de? All the best, Rene |

I have a suggestion which would be very cool for BB: introduce a backtesting to automatically find the best (more profitable) configuration for BB for each timeframe (daily, weekly, ecc.), so to offer the option to set automatically all the parameters for likely optimal BB settings.
Ideally such backtesting may continue and keep adjusting the settings while the bot operates.

Ah well .. another problem i have.
Whenever i minimize the main leonardo window ... when i get it up back on screen .. it changes the chart to some semingly random pair on that exchange.
That happens to me for each single leonardo instance i have running on _every exchange_ i have in my slots (Binance, Bitfinex, Bittrex (untested), HitBTC, Poloniex and Kraken.........)
Anyone else with this "problem"?
