361  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: biggest misconception about Cryptocurrency? on: December 27, 2023, 11:43:34 AM
What do you think is the biggest misconception people have about cryptocurrencies, and how would you clarify it?

I think people who think that it's a get rich quick scheme. Just right now, I have a convo with my wife and she says that someone is trying to borrow money, a friend of her and says that he need crypto as she needed to finished some task? before she  can get her crypto.

So I said that it could be scam if that is the case. I haven't talk to the lady as I don't know here. It was just a friend of my wife who she teaches some side hustle and perhaps it's very slow to her that's why she goes into crypto thinking that he can earn money very quick. But from the sounds of it, she could have feel victims to scams already.
362  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: December 27, 2023, 10:13:56 AM
Biggest upset today!

Kings fall to the struggling Trail Blazers. Final score 113-130, it was a blowout win by the Trail Blazers, and I'm one of the victims who bet on the Kings thinking they'll get the win and cover the high spread.

Looks like the Kings are tired of playing on the road, LOL... Losing to the Blazers is embarassing, especially that they are building their team to be a playoff team.
Unfortunately, the same for me, I confess that I was surprised with the defeat of Sacramento
Sabonis and Fox had an excellent performance, in fact they carried the team on their shoulders, on the other hand, the Blazers had an interesting performance because most of the players, including the reserves, scored relatively well in that game.

I believe that a crucial point that also favored the Kings' defeat was the 3-point shots, they only had 23.8%, while the Blazzers had 40.00%, which in my point of view was a high percentage of success.

Yes, another great upset and too bad for basketball fans who bet on the Kings as we thought that this is going to be an easy game for the Kings. Sabonis and Fox have a great game, but if you don't have the support cast, even if this two scores 50 point apiece it will be not enough.

It's Blazers homecourt and they take advantage of it by shooting hot in the outside.

First quarter was close until the Trailblazers put up a show in the second quarter and never look back. Although they allow Sabonis to bully himself inside, but the team really give everything to pull this upset.
363  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How many hours is the best time for a gambler to last while gambling? on: December 27, 2023, 01:50:35 AM
I don't think that there is such numbers for gamblers, I mean if we have the money to gamble, then we are going to play as long as we want isn't it? So maybe a minimum of like 2-3 hours for recreational gamblers.

But for those who have serious problems in gambling, this can go on until they've lost everything. But wait, they will surely has to find another way to continue with their addiction so they will comeback in the next couple of hours and then continue their playing for more.

So no time limit, maybe even for those weekend gamblers who just want to have fun with friends and be entertainment, it could still consumed hours.
364  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Inoue vs Tapales for Unified Super Bantamweight Title - December 26 on: December 26, 2023, 04:11:47 PM
Yes, everyone thinks that Tapales will not last that long, but he did and that is already a big accomplishment for his endurance and really willing to win this fight. You can see that he was really hurt and trying to get up from the canvass. But the pain though, it was very tough to see fellow Filipino again falling to the Monster.

But it is what it is, so history has been made today by Inoue. Let's see if Inoue is true to his words that he wanted to remain in this division and clean it up.
Agree, well. Disappointed but not surprise.
I didn't comment this before but i really have a guess that Tapales doesn't have a much in this fight. Based on his previous fights the agility to match Inoue's, doesn't have a signature killing punch to match the Monster, like i gave him 7/10 rating while 10 is the Monster. But unfortunately it happened just what i thought. Thing is I didn't made a bet because of busy holidays, which is the saddest part.

Yes, I think we all agree that as much as we gave Tapales a slim chance to win, Inoue should be the clear winner and so it did. But you have to give respect to Tapales that even if he goes down in round 4, he manage to stay in the pocket and take the best shot of Inoue.

But I guess it's too much even for the likes of Tapales, those body shots have taken a toll on him.

So who's next for Inoue now? is he going up to another division and make himself a 3 weight class unified champion and separate his name from Crawford?

366  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: December 25, 2023, 07:38:51 AM
Christmas day match-up, a lot of good games to watch,

Nuggets vs Warriors - GSW a change team after the Draymond incident, winning back to back.
Lakers vs Celtics - Lakers have the homecourt advantage
Knicks vs Bucks - Knicks looking to bounce back, will be at MSG
Suns vs Mavs - Suns on a losing streak, and we all know that there's no love lost between Luka and Booker

All Christmas Day matchups are exciting to watch maybe with the exception of the Heat and the 76ers. Jimmy Butler is unsure but Joel Embiid cannot make it because of an injury.  We can watch them all matches because they do not have similar playing time. It will be a day loaded with entertaining NBA basketball.

The Suns and the Mavs are the last match, and it is perfect. Luka and Devin are bringing their high energy on the court. Dallas has a higher rating but they are playing a much more comfortable at home team.

It's going to be Luka vs Devin Booker again as we want to see this game. They have been at each's other for the last couple of years specially in the playoff and I think Luka has the advantage.

And Suns has been struggling even with Durant, I mean as we have observed getting Bel and KD and along Booker, it's all offensive and they don't have that much defensive that's why teams are defeating them easy and it could be the case here. But Phoenix Suns is the favorite as per sports bookies, so who knows that this could be another trap for bettors.
367  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Know when to ride and stop! on: December 25, 2023, 03:01:38 AM
Don’t increase your bet when you are losing because it will just amplify your loss immediately once you are in bad streak. Always test the water before you increase your bet.  Wink
I mostly agree with this part because losses will always come and you only need a bunch of back-to-back losses to burn most of your bankroll.

The unexpected win streak is the part I struggle to take advantage of because I prefer to risk the same bet amount no matter what, and I overthink that the next round could be the start of a losing streak.

Also, congrats on capitalizing on those winning patterns while playing with a small bankroll.

That's the classic martingale style though, trying to double your bet after each lost. But we all know that it's not for everyone, I mean we don't have the capital to make that kind of run specially if you are losing that's why I don't used that strategy.

As for the suggestions of the OP, not saying that it's not true, but the thing is that it's going to be very difficult to control, whether you are winning or losing. When you are winning you feel that you are unstoppable and very lucky and you want to stretch it. When you are losing, you want to recoup and change everything and hoping that lady luck will be on your side.
368  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which hosting or domain name providers does shady gambling sites use? on: December 25, 2023, 02:48:24 AM
Today, when I was browsing the service discussion board I found a thread created by a Hero member where he was asking about good hosting providers that doesn't require KYC. I didn't feel to reply there because others users have already answered the question and OP found his web host with the help of those members.

But something came in my mind after reading that thread that which hosting providers and domain name providers those shady gambling websites use. Most of us know the shady websites like 1xBit for their shady activities and we also know that they got license from countries like Curacao but does anyone knows that which hosting providers and which domain name providers such gambling sites use.

All those gambling sites had to use some domain name registrar that registered those domain names for those shady sites and they all need some kind of hosting plains in order to make their site accessible to everyone but the question is that which domain name providers or hosting companies allow such sites to host their domains or register their domain and renew those domains even if they have been tagged for their shady activities.

I don't think that gamblers are going to be interested to look at who is hosting who as far as this crypto based gambling site. I mean literally you can just register any names you want from this hosting company and they will readily give it to you regardless of what niche is it although the name itself could have a hint on what it is or what is should be.

So they don't care if you as owners and registrant of the website run a scam latter and chooses not to play your customers. This is also the same case with thousands of scam sites that we have right now. As long as they pay good money to this hosting domain, even if it obvious that it's shady in this case, they don't care, sad but true.
369  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will it give fuel to skyroket for btc ? on: December 23, 2023, 09:18:35 PM
Didn't click on the link, but it's it obvious though that it will fuel the price of BTC? last month there were news that it was approved or something or that it's ticker has been displayed and then removed:

https://cryptoslate.com/bitcoin-retracts-and-rebounds-after-blackrocks-new-etf-ticker-removed-from-dtcc-website/

Perhaps there are people who just wanted to test and see the reaction of the investors, and it was very positive. And after that the price of bitcoin continue to go up to $40k++. So just imagine if next year, the BlackRock Bitcoin Spot ETF is going to be approved by SEC. We might see the price getting a massive run, that I think we might get closer to our previous ATH.
370  Economy / Economics / Re: Crisis everywhere it's time to come together and unite on: December 23, 2023, 08:56:07 PM
Times like this it's time to join and unite together
So what is the next innovative business we should do ?
Times are difficult and we feel like victims of beyrayel
I see that anyone who bring up some good idea not trusted instantly....but only way is unite together many people don't have income anymore and no money.
So who from us Will create us new currency? And we All use this currency and get some airdrop ?

What idea do you have though? another crypto? I think we have enough already, bitcoin is the top choice for us and then we have the "alternative" cryptocurrencies. And I think crypto market are already saturated, maybe there are meme or shitcoin that will come along to make some money, but it's going to be pump and dump scheme, so it's not good.

I know it's difficult times, but to make money, you have to push yourself. Perhaps a new business will do, or just re-invest your money in bitcoin and let it grow. I think that's the best thing that we can do as far as crypto, invest on solid coins, like bitcoin, accumulate and HODL. No one to come together or work together, there is no secret formula for getting rich in crypto.
371  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does casino streamers have influence in your gambling life? on: December 23, 2023, 08:45:15 PM
I came across on YouTube where a gambling casino social influencer was streaming about a casinos platform.
He literally brought out his phone and was illustrating to the audiences that it is just few steps to take the winning on your games which is making choice of your predictions, choose amount to bet and also indicate his hashtag referral code and click on confirm.
Immediately you get credited directly to your account that just you won.
I just smiled but I want to ask, how many of you guys develops interests on a particular casino platform due to the influence of the casinos streamers?

They can only have influence in your if you wanted to, so in any case if you don't follow streamers (and I think this is the case for us, because I believed that majority has been gambling for years before this streamers surface to the picture because of the internet).

So in my case no, I didn't go into gambling because of them, or using any referral code or links or whatever from influencers. Maybe there are some members who did, but not sure if they got some benefits from doing it except making money for this influencers.
372  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you have a "gambling problem" which you can sometimes control for years? on: December 23, 2023, 01:37:02 PM
When you can control your problem for a long time, it is not a problem anymore. Yes I used to have that problem with gambling and solved it long time ago and nowadays I don’t even remember having that problem anymore. It is just a memory which happened very very long time ago. I had the same thing with smoking too. Unfortunately, this problem came back to me a few times but I solved this one too. (At least for now lol)  It is under control right now but who knows when will I want to smoke a cig again and lose my control. This is what most addicts have in common. They can’t quit. They only take a break. You need to have a very strong will to have control over yourself.

I think everyone of us here might have gone to this experience, but we don't want to admit that we have the "gambling problem". And perhaps like you, you have gotten control of yourself and so you have prevented from falling into the addiction case.

But for the majority, it could be we have been addicted, but sooner or later found the strength to fight it out and get control. Or really go to the pains of seeking professional help or reach their family before it's too late. And it really take a lot of courage for anyone to admit that they have an addiction before it's too late.
373  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: December 23, 2023, 09:26:33 AM
Jordan Poole was given a tribute by the Warriors before the game. Just a season ago, he was touted to be another Splash brothers, but it was a massive U-turn and they have to make a decision to trade him.

And Kuminga is the star in this game as he just bullied everyone inside including Poole. The usual Curry and then Klay hitting some good 3 points in the 4th quarter. Now it seems that their mentality as a champion is back and already move forward with the Draymond Green drama.
374  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Exploring Lucrative Crypto Earning Opportunities: Recommendations Needed!!! on: December 22, 2023, 09:36:27 PM
Here's me making a request: Who knows a very rewarding campaign out there with good reward that I can take advantage of this holiday. P/S: I've explored the bounty section for some but here, I need recommendations for the ones you've personally tried that works. Thanking you..

No one, there's a lot of bounty campaigns, perhaps giving good bounties, but we don't know if the tokens will have a value in the future and that is the risk involved for being a bounty hunter. Heck, there were even projects who suddenly exit scams and everyone was left with nothing, except bounty managers being red tag.

So in that case, it's risk to join them, others might recommend you this and that project, but still you need to research and not just easily jump on that project.

It's not like it's 2017 again that even a airdrop is going to be worth hundreds or even thousands of dollars. DYOR (Do Your Own Research).
375  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: December 22, 2023, 09:25:45 PM
I just took the Bulls at -4.5 and I was right about that it's a good bet as the Bulls is riding high on a momentum win and beating the Spurs by almost 20 points.
Great decision, betting against the Spurs is the easiest way to win actually. As of now, they are again on a losing streak, currently at 3 but this will increase like the last time.

There could be some games tomorrow night that might be "easier" to predict,

Sixers vs Raptors
Nets vs Nuggets
GSW vs Washington

Sixers vs Raptors, I'll pass, the spread is too high, and I believe Raptors are capable of covering that and even upsetting the Sixers on the road.

And this;

Nets vs Nuggets and GSW vs Washington... I'm all for Nuggets and GSW here, with the spread of course, which is -4.5 and -12 respectively.

Yeah, I think the Nuggets against the Nets, we can take that handicap for the Denver, opening line is -2.5 for them, but I think risking higher at -4.5 is better as we all know that they can easily covered that. Thing with Nets is that they are a good team for the first 3 quarters and suddenly have difficulty to sustain it and so Nuggets might take advantage of it

Of course Warriors playing at home and then against their former player in Poole, gonna be fun. But Curry and Thompson will lead this team and also their new found Draymond Green in Trayce Jackson-Davis. So maybe a double digit win for the Warriors.
376  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Teofimo Lopez Vs. Jamaine Ortiz WBO Welterweight Title February 8 on: December 22, 2023, 09:09:23 PM
I thought Lopez has already announced his retirement from professional boxing? These boxers announcing retirement cannot stick to their word probably because of money and the desire to fight.

Ortiz is probably an easy opponent for Teofimo. Teofimo is still quick, so in terms of points he may outscore Ortiz. In terms of powerful punch that will bring the fight to an end anytime within rounds, Teofimo has also more power than Ortiz, so I think Lopez is still at an advantage. But I voted Lopez by UD.

I didn't think that you will believed his retirement announcement though? I mean he is still very young to retire and you can see from his personality that he make controversial statements and probably his retirement announcement is just one antics on his fight. I guess he already proves that he has power in this division and now he beat the unify champion in Josh Taylor. So this is his first time to defend his belt, so I think he will be the favorite and has all the advantage and possible that he can KO Lopez here although I think Ortiz could be bigger fight night if there is no rehydration clause.

Just crazy to hear that Teo is retiring,

Quote
A complete shocker it was not. More like the pre-ordained ending of a not-so-elaborate publicity stunt, at best.

Yep, that’s what it was.

In an announcement that surprised very few people, Teofimo Lopez declared his retirement null and void and called out archrival Devin Haney in yet another profanity-laced social media tirade, just hours before a generous deadline given by the WBO for Lopez to confirm his retirement was due to expire.

https://www.ringtv.com/655887-teofimo-lopez-un-retires-just-in-time-to-keep-his-belt-and-risk-it-against-devin-haney/

Although the article says that he wants Haney, not going to happen obviously as he Ortiz in mind at least early next year. And maybe him and Haney can talk about that fight. Both of them have belts so inevitably they will have to face to unify the belt as this is not the story, Crawford done it and now Naoya Inoue is looking to do the same against Tapales.

Teo is just 26 yo, he was just saying he wants to retire but at that age, it's a prime age.

Ortiz hasn't fought at 140 yet, he is good but this is risky for him and Teo will probably be able to play around with him. Teo capitalized on his win over Loma while Ortiz was defeated despite Loma's age. For Teo, this isn't a real big fight but it will still be interesting to watch.  It'd be a surprise to see Teo lose.

Teo is the champion so he really need to win this fight to be able to land that big fights against Haney or Ryan Garcia. Retiring is not an option of him, he might have just to used that to bring hype on his name or try to force Top Rank to give him more money.

That is right, we haven't seen his 140 lbs version, all we have seen is his 135 lbs version of him fighting Loma. And in his last fight at 135 lbs, he struggles and that's why he move up to 140 lbs and it was good that he was also a Top Rank boxer that's why he was given this opportunity to fight for the belt eventhough this is his first time at this weight class. So Teo better capitalized on this and defend his belt with a win.
377  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: December 22, 2023, 03:30:37 PM
Awful night for me in NBA as I had Clippers to win at 3.03odds and I was to tired to search more about their record of 9-0 win streak before this game. Apparently this 9-0 record they had was in top 4 of best franchise run ever and that should have been enough for me to switch sides and go with OKC. Then , I had faith in Portland to get another home win but I guess this team really is one of the worst teams in NBA right now...Sad(

Did you know Kawhi Leonard is not playing? And even with Leonard on the court, I am not placing a bet because the Thunders have the advantage of playing at home. They are becoming a genuine team to beat this season. I cannot recall a match the Thunder lost in their court without giving a challenge. And I am not placing a bet on the worst teams because they do not care about winning anymore.

It was an entertaining match, a battle between number 2 and number 4. Until in the third quarter when Chet Holmgren made a tricky dunk, and it ignited a 13-0 run. The ten digit lead went on until the remainder of the match.

Didn't watch the game, but if we look at the betting line, we would wonder why the OKC is the favorite in that game. And so with Kawhi not playing, it's might be easy that the OKC team will win and that's what happen.

As for the debacle of Lakers, they don't have the same energy when they are playing in the in season tournament.

And then there are rumors of trade as well that might be putting pressure or at least players that are supposedly involved in that trade are being bothered by that news.
378  Economy / Speculation / Re: What are we expecting between now and Bitcoin halving? on: December 21, 2023, 09:30:28 PM
Up until now I have just been buying throughout the bear market and not sold anything , my portfolio is currently 26% in profit which I am happy with but wondering if I should keep holding till past the bull run or take some profits now.
Next year halving will happen but it is not exactly when the Bitcoin price will be bullish. It may also be that Bitcoin starts to become bullish after the halving event ends or may take more time. But it is certain that the market will go back to a bullish movement. If you are holding Bitcoin then I would say definitely hold it because investing in Bitcoin will definitely give you good returns in due course but if you are holding any cryptocurrency other than Bitcoin then there will be fear. Altcoins can take you from profit to loss at any time. So do market analysis and take appropriate decision. If you invest in Bitcoin, you will definitely have the right way which will be supported by all.

Base on what we have seen before, right after the halving, we might not see the impact of it. It might take weeks or months before the price will slowly rises. Last halving, this was the case until Elon Musk influence the market and then the price goes to $50k. And then the following year we reaches new all time high at $69k.

So that might be the case here, although different scenario as we have in mind what could be the factor that will push the price for this scheduled block halving. And this is the approval of  the Bitcoin spot ETF that majority of us could excited as it will push the price to 6 digits at least making us the winner and giving us huge profit.
379  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which type of gambling have more gambling addicts ? on: December 21, 2023, 09:13:32 PM
It's the games in the traditional casinos that are more addicting because a player has more interaction with real people. You could talk to fellow gamblers who can eventually become your friends. I think it's the interaction with people that makes gamblers come back and you get to share experiences on table games.

We all know that before the advent of online games, traditional base casinos are really taking over and raking billions of dollars annually. Yeah, the ambience, and environment and then free perks that they offer. Too good to be true to pass and that's why we wanted to go and play on slot machines on those casinos.

The online casino games will be the second since you are offered unlimited rewards, and you can win big up to the jackpot especially the slot. But even in offline casinos, the slot is already addictive.

But now, we have online games, so everyone is exposed even those who didn't think that they are going to fall as an addict. That is the scary part though, and with that, I would say that online games right now could have more addicts because of the easy access to everyone.
380  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Teofimo Lopez Vs. Jamaine Ortiz WBO Welterweight Title February 8 on: December 21, 2023, 08:57:48 PM
Anyhow, back to Teo Lopez, he is now the lineal champion at 140 lbs and so he will likely to be the man here unless Ortiz suddenly become a great fighter at 140 lbs.

I'm expecting Lopez to win and then continue his reign and go after Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney.

Looking at the record of Ortiz (17-1-1), i don't think he poses a threat to Teo Lopez. He is not a knockout puncher so even if he hits Teo with solid shots, i don't think he could rattle Teo. Anyways, this is a good fight as to keep the lineal champion busy next year as a fight with Ryan Garcia or Devin Haney is looming in the horizon.

I guess the performance of Ortiz against Loma has somewhat put his name on the spotlight at 135 lbs. He did give Loma a good fight because he is big and we can show that he has power but not a knockout artist.

And so with him going up another weight class, maybe others think that he can have more power here. I'm seeing this fight like the Ryan Garcia vs Oscar Duarte. In paper Duarte was a good fighter, but when he faces Garcia inside the ring, it was a total different story. So this is like a cherry pick for Teo but they need to create hype of Ortiz as somewhat a threat to him or his belt.
