I have an extra controller board given to me by a regular poster in this thread.
Let the bidding begins  Grin
How much do you think it is worth?

is this with beaglebone in it?
is it in working condition?

Yes, I am using it now with my Upgrade modules.

This is absolutely FABULOUS!
I'm IN!!!!

I've been mining since the 3rd January and so far everything has been very good.

What do you think the safest die voltage level is while keeping the SPI voltage on automatic? I have an October 4VRM rig with 4 modules. I know my way around a linux system and can program pretty easily but when it comes to electrical stuff I'm kind of in left field. I just don't want to blow up my Dad's rig.

I know that is all that matters to you.  Which is why it is improper for you to try and browbeat a pool op in lowering or getting rid of his fee's.  He knows what his costs, R&D, and reinvestment costs.  We, especially you, do not.

Slush is not a free pool.  The last I heard anyway.

I doubt the pool operator will change anything only because I like it to happen  Grin
But why should he stop people from expressing their views?

I meant Eligius pool (I sometimes mix these 2).
386  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [3200 TH] BTC Guild - Pays TxFees+Orphan+NMC, Stratum, Private Servers on: January 15, 2014, 12:20:07 AM
I also have no problems paying fees if they are reasonable - anything above 0.5% for a very large pool is unreasonable in my opinion as the costs associated with running such a pool are much smaller than the revenue generated even at 0.5%.
But that's just me Smiley

Again, this really isn't the place for your anti free market rhetoric.

Create a thread just for this and I would happily post in to debate this subject with you in a civilized manner, as would many others.  To try and keep debating this in a pools support thread is improper.

I was under the impression that this thread is not support only, but general discussion of the pool and its services. At least I see nothing mentioned in the title, nor in the 1st post for it being support only thread.
Maybe the admin can clarify that.
387  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [3200 TH] BTC Guild - Pays TxFees+Orphan+NMC, Stratum, Private Servers on: January 15, 2014, 12:16:23 AM
I called subsidy.

They could not do that if they did not have their own high end ASIC's and people paying for their other products and services.  If I were a paying customer I would not be ok with it.  But I'm not and I guess it is ok with they paying customers they do have.

All I am saying there is no such thing as something for nothing.

Why is that so hard to comprehend? Smiley

The fact is people who mine with their own equipment pay 0 fees. Whatever I mine with my share of the pool I withdraw at 100%.
That is what matters to me and I assume a lot of other people.

Btw how does Slush provide 0% fees. Who is subsidizing that?
388  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [3200 TH] BTC Guild - Pays TxFees+Orphan+NMC, Stratum, Private Servers on: January 15, 2014, 12:09:44 AM
if we want to protect the network, miners should have a choice, eligius has 0 fees, ghash has 0 fees , btcguild has fees up to 7.5%

You do have a choice.  Choose between a 0 fee pool or a fee pool.

You do NOT have the right to tell a person what he should charge for a good or service.  You do have the right not to buy or use that good or service though.

Also Ghasheeo is not 0 fee.  Others are paying the fee for the freeloaders.  If I were a fee payer I would be irritated by their allowing freeloaders on my dime.  Of course the extra hash rate does lower the variance, that is important to many.  Still that is that pools choice.

I don't see how people using the market service and paying fees there has anything to do with the pool being 0 fee.
It's 2 different services after all. How hard is that to comprehend?

If you're purely connecting your hashing power to the pool, yes it is a 0 fee pool.  However, if you by GHS from their market, you pay a transaction fee on that market, then you pay per share your Gh/s generates as a maintenance fee for using their processing power.  So, in essence, some people are paying for their hashing at the pool and others are not. Currently, those that are using the cloud hashing are paying a fee of 4.55% for PPLNS compared to the 3% paid at BTC Guild.  I for one have no problem paying fees because someone has to pay to keep the servers going to process all the shares that we submit.  Below is a link to the fees ghash charges.

https://cex.io/maintenance
I am only referring to people who point their own equipment to Ghash.io by choice.
I also have no problems paying fees if they are reasonable - anything above 0.5% for a very large pool is unreasonable in my opinion as the costs associated with running such a pool are much smaller than the revenue generated even at 0.5%.
But that's just me Smiley

Miners do have a choice.  You get what you pay for, and the miners have spoken.  There's a reason BTCGuild is as big as it is.

M

Exactly, I couldn't agree more.

Now, if the people pleading poverty could kindly leave the thread. If you can't afford to drive, then you're walking or taking the bus.

Can't you read the sign? ---->  No whining allowed.

Cheesy

You like telling people what to do, don't you?

I seem to recall that you used a significant number of pages of this thread trying to bully, cajole, insult, argue and brow-beat the pool users and pool operator to bend to your will and reduce the pool fees.

Unlike my post above, you didn't make any joke of what you were doing, you were caustic, unmannered, aggressive and a selfish bastard. If this were my thread I've have banned your ass pages ago. You've contributed nothing to this conversation, all you've done is try to leverage your own interests and attempt to persuade others that a 'race to the bottom' in terms of fees is in miners interests. It's not and you saying it doesn't make it so, however many times you say it.

I automatically assume that people who use insults to backup their arguments are are usually not very intelligent.
The good thing is this isn't your thread, so you don't make the decisions around here no matter how much you want it  Grin

392  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Hacking The KNC Firmware: Overclocking on: January 13, 2014, 01:36:31 PM
Hi,

I am using Oct Jupiter with 0.99.1-tune firmware. After I pressed "Reset factory settings" on Advanced tab, I can no longer access Advanced tab at all. Instead I have browser message with "Fetch advanced configuration/status failed." and "OK" button. Restarting, flashing to earlier firmware and flashing back to 0.99.1-tune does not resolved the issue. Jupiter itself is mining away nicely, but I can't access Advanced tab anymore.
Any one had similar problem?

DIFF....35.22%    10d 6hr 31m 6s    WTF?
http://allchains.info/

Isn't it fairly inaccurate for a little while as the new diff settles in? Meaning by tomorrow sometime it should level out some more..
If you don't know the answer of this question, then you should not be called a miner.
Come on guys, don't let the bar drop so low...
Just think of what would happen to the difficulty if hypothetically all miners stop hashing tomorrow.
394  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [3200 TH] BTC Guild - Pays TxFees+Orphan+NMC, Stratum, Private Servers on: January 13, 2014, 04:37:42 AM
Merged mining, as you mentioned earlier, many of us just send our altcoins to BTC-e. Do you know if we need a separate address for each type of coin sent there? or can we use the same address for all of them? I assume that all these can be sold there? Since they aren't being made yet, no rush on an answer. Thanks man, you ROCK!!! Cool

I don't believe BTC-e has trading for any of the other merged mining altcoins.  I think cryptsy is where people trade them?  I really haven't bothered looking into the sheer volume of junk coins out there, but the new server is being designed in a way it can handle all these chains at once.  IXC/DVC/I0C/GRC will all end up running on a separate server from the pools themselves that way there's no impact *at all* to regular performance.

I've previously been against the near-valueless coins because of the HDD/CPU time spent processing blocks on those chains could negatively impact performance.  While it wouldn't be a huge impact either way, they also add so little that the tradeoff didn't seem worth it.  With the new code, I'm making it so that tradeoff no longer exists.

For the time I mined 80BTC and also mined 2BTC worth of NMC.
So for 2 months of mining (November and December) I got enough NMC to pay my electricity for 3 months.
You still think that is nothing?

You should have added them long time ago, as obviously adding them now will have less of an impact because of the ever increasing difficulty.

"any of the other merged mining altcoins"

I need to sleep now. I misread what he meant for which I apologize Smiley
Btw they are worthless now, but that can easily change Wink

Just in case anyone is interested in calculating their actual power consumption, you should know that the amount listed by bertmod or the new 0.99.2 firmware does not include all factors like fans or PSU inefficiencies. As you can see, my Jupiter shows 1140w on the Advanced page, but my kill-a-watt meter shows 1300w at the wall. I would recommend multiplying the amount you see on the Advanced tab or from bertmod by 1.15 for a realistic estimate.

what kind of Jupiter are you running?

my Jupiters are drawing from 570W to 590W at the wall all with 0.95 firmware.
BTW. 240v power supplies V1000 cooler Master gold

I just took a 1000w evga (1000 G2) to the CES with me based in Cyper's recommendations for the brand. I couldn't source the 1300W one in time as Cyper has probably bought the entire UK's supply of them before Christmas.

The lads gave me 2xV850s to use, but I got totally fed up with dealing with unpacking 2 power supplies and anything that takes me near the baggage limit. I realise not a concern for you, buuuut each v850 is over a kilo, and the leads aren't light either.

Plus the red EVGA leads which you have 6x 6+2, with 6 separate 8 pin ports on the PSU (4x a single Pcie and I think two were doubles) look neater and sexier than the mess of leads the coolermaster has when on camera. On top of which and this is a biggy, they are longer and better shielded. That said the Molex which is much longer than the coolermaster offering which further bunches up the pcie leads is still shorter than the pcie leads and that is then the determining factor in the distance in separation if the device and the PSU.

In any case they are very reasonably priced 80 plus gold rated and carrying one PSU over two is muuuch more fun. I'm still getting forearms like Popeye lugging Jupiter around, however the final bonus is the set up and clear up time is so much quicker.

Most of the above probably doesn't concern most of you, just thanking Cyper for the recommendation and can confirm I really like the PSU. I can imagine the 1300w would be ideal for any 6 board Nov Jup mods (that are totally unofficial, right? Wink). Really impressed with the EVGA brand for such a compact high rated unit that is pretty much half the price of the next worthwhile offering, and has 6x in dependant pci-es, but it does look like the 1300w version is sold out everywhere for the foreseeable future (in the UK at least). The 1000w one I have was like only £20 less, but I had to order and have delivered quick this side of Christmas.

I did see a 1600w PSU which I believe took 10 PCI-Es and was only £200 somewhere. No idea but prob should look into that as it would be ideal for a GPU farm...

I might have purchased the last 2 from scan.co.uk  Grin
The 1300W is the way to go - it is so much better value for money and the cables are indeed very sexy  Cheesy
According to the tests it can deliver up to 1430W of DC power with a still great 89.64% efficiency, so it is over-designed Wink

Btw check yours if it needs to be RMAd - http://www.evga.com/articles/00803/
They offer advanced RMA (KNC should take note here  Wink ) where you receive a new one and then you ship the faulty one back.
And you get a free EVGA T-Shirt too, so at least KNC took note for this one  Grin

Your tempature is a little high

Put some extra cooling at Jupiter

Please do not post misleading information. 58 is anything but high temperature.

Can kncminer-0.99.2-tune.bin solve dead Die problem for Nov. miners or it is just for Oct. miners?
It seems kncminer-0.99.2-E.bin does not improve so much for Nov. miners!

It seems that if you read the changelog and apply some thinking you will answer your question.
