381  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Do you guys ever get GPUs that need heatsink reseated? on: March 07, 2018, 12:07:13 AM
I have some cards that run hot like that. I just let em run hot, they will last long enough to become obsolete for mining either way.

I used to run my Fermi core GTX at 95c 24/7 and the card lasted 6 years before I decommissioned it so I dont fear heat as much as most people here do.
382  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Lost my job - Need Ideas on: March 06, 2018, 11:01:28 PM
You know, I see you saying this job wouldnt pay enough, that job wouldnt pay enough. Your income right now is ZERO. Any of those jobs will bring you temporary relief, even if it wont work out in the long term. Dont be afraid to take a job you dont plan on having long, just to keep the income flowing. You may have to jump around between a few jobs before you find one that suits you long term. Do not be too proud to work a lower paying job just to get something in your pocket.

3 years ago I was broke and destitute, with friends paying my bills to keep me from becoming homeless. I ended up taking a job I was way overqualified for just so that I could have something. I showed the people I worked for what I was capable of and now 3 years down the road I am making 5 times the amount of money I had when I started. You never know where a basic ass job will take you if you have the skills and determination to make something out of it.

P.S. Stop being a pessimist about your situation, you will not succeed with that attitude. You just have to keep your head up and try your hardest every day to resolve the problem.
383  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: apw3++ came with a broken pcie adapter on: March 06, 2018, 10:36:22 PM
L3 is low power enough you can just use a splitter, thats what I did.
384  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Remotely manage multiple Antminer S9 in different locations / networks on: March 06, 2018, 10:09:37 PM
How about a $35 RPi and some free software at each location?

http://www.pivpn.io/

Run your own VPN server at each location so you can connect remotely to each network.
385  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S7 hash board rebooting constantly Edit: Found something else interesting on: March 06, 2018, 08:23:27 PM
So In other words just let it mine until it takes a crap completely some day.

I am just saying it is probably a good idea to temper your expectations of reliability and quality with used miners, they live hard lives. If parallel miner is willing to keep swapping I would obviously keep trying until I get a working one.
386  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Remodeling my mining farm-- open/closed frames? Intake or exhaust on ceiling? on: March 06, 2018, 08:21:54 PM
The general rule when dealing with miners is the primary goal is to exhaust the heat. All ceiling fans are going to do is mix and warm the air even more. Pictures will help quite a bit and give me a better idea of what you have going on. Intakes can be passive and screened/covered so no weather ever gets in.
387  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer s9 setup and questions on: March 06, 2018, 06:35:46 PM
Even if the miner overheats it just stops hashing. It does not power down in any way. You are either not describing the situation properly or it is not heat related as the antminer physically CANNOT turn itself off. Even when you ssh in and shut down the controller things are still powered and fans are still spinning....
388  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Immersion cooling - silicone oil on: March 06, 2018, 06:33:09 PM
You will spend so much on this immersion cooling idea you will never make a profit on your machines.

Also, nothing im reading about the fluid you have chosen states that it is safe for this idea.

389  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer s9 setup and questions on: March 06, 2018, 06:30:17 PM
What do you mean it turns off? The only way an antminer is turned off is if the power supply shuts off.

I am guessing you are using an APW3 power supply and you are running it on 110v, thus not giving your machine enough power to remain stable.
390  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Multiple instances of bmminer possible? on: March 06, 2018, 06:28:29 PM
If you want to mine to multiple pools, you need multiple miners, thats how it has been for a long time. The last miner I remember offering load balance was the cointerra miner but it didnt work worth a crap back then either.
391  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: DragonMint 16TH/S halongmining.com on: March 06, 2018, 05:23:43 PM
They just launched a Decred ASIC - 2100GH/900w -- Shipping in 2-3 weeks

https://halongmining.com/shop/dragonmint-b29-blake256-miner/?bundle_quantity_11=1

$10499

At least shipping is free! Monero, LTC, and Ethereum payment options too.

Let's see if it makes waves like the A3 did. Will Bitmain have a response?!

I ended up purchasing some units with bitcoin. I'll let you guys know how this turns out.

If bitmain has a response, it will be to put out functional gear, not just sell a spec sheet like Halong has done.
392  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S7 hash board rebooting constantly Edit: Found something else interesting on: March 06, 2018, 04:49:36 PM
Ok I tried 600. Lasted 18 mins and dropped chain 1 and 2 to 30 degs and 1.2 Th/s . This is ridiculous. These things are suppose to be tested before shipping. This is the second one that’s having this issue. It’s a different psu than the one I was using on the first S7.  I guess I’ll email parallel miner again and see what they say. Idk what else to do.

You should also keep in mind S7s are years old and have been ran hard every day of their life. As someone who has managed thousands of s7s I can tell you from experience we can test a machine for a week on the test bench with no problems, take it out and put it on the rack and boot it up with a failed board or other strange problems. That is just the nature of the equipment, and you cant blame someone selling used equipment for issues with this hardware because it is just naturally that spotty and inconsistent.
393  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: NVIDIA GTX1070 8GB OC Settings - 30.25 MH/s on: March 06, 2018, 12:01:46 AM
Settings for 1 card to not work for all.

Way to stick a referral link in there btw :/
394  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Brand new S9... 1 board..1/2 chain DOA any suggestions on: March 06, 2018, 12:00:02 AM
So DHL charged me CDN $300.00 to send a single S9 back to Hong Kong for repair...OUCHH...
Shame we can't use the Bitmain coupons for shipping.

Why did you ship it to Hong Kong and not California? If you are in Canada shipping to Cali must be cheaper. I am in the pacific northwest and I can ship a single s9 to the repair depot for like $30
395  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: DragonMint 16TH/S halongmining.com on: March 05, 2018, 11:58:07 PM
You can pretty easily tell that bitmain cares not at all about halong mining being a competitor. I mean just look at how they mocked Halong with https://tulipmining.com/

Bitmain is over there doing 2 billion USD a year in miner sales. They have no competition when it comes to larger customers. I mean if you have the money and rep, you can call bitmain and have 6000 s9s delivered before Halong even finishes shipping singles to people, and at a WAY better price.
396  Other / Meta / Re: Adding Merit was the most correct action against spam, let me explain why on: March 05, 2018, 10:43:49 PM
Signature campaigns helps promote a lot of projects, if this will be eliminated I don't think crypto currencies will continue to grow in the future. We must accept the fact that even if signature and other campaigns creates too many spammers this also helps the community to become more popular as people starting to learn the idea of cryptos and digital economy.

If you think this forum is what is driving crypto innovation I think you are a bit off the mark.

Until this merit stuff came about I didnt even know sig spam was a thing. There is an option in the forum to turn off signatures, which I do on every single forum I sign up for since they literally add zero value to the experience.

This site should not be about making money by spamming, it should be about sharing knowledge. Between the sig campaigns, the bounties, and the entire marketplace section where I would say at least 90% of what is posted sounds shady and illegal as hell, this place is already a toxic wasteland. Merits arent helping that because they serve no real purpose. Forum ranks are meaningless too, some of the most well known legendary posters are idiots who spread misinformation and argue about things they know nothing about. No merit system will fix that.
397  Other / Meta / Re: Adding Merit was the most correct action against spam, let me explain why on: March 05, 2018, 10:14:28 PM
If the problem is sig spammers, just disable signatures and ban bounties....this forum isnt supposed to be about making money, its supposed to be about spreading knowledge.

Administrators need to address the core issue directly rather than adding this convoluted system that has added literally zero value to the experience here.
398  Other / Meta / Re: Should Legendary/Hero/Sr Members be de-ranked? Additional user ranks? on: March 05, 2018, 10:08:40 PM
Why all this focus on merit and ranks when its all useless garbage?

Until they stop this sig campaign garbage and stop letting people sell accounts the forum will always be filled with crap.

This board should be about crypto and not about how much money you can make spamming sigs and other garbage.

Its like putting a sign in the middle of the city telling all the bums where to come scavenge change.

399  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is it possible to mine to an internal Nicehash address? on: March 05, 2018, 09:31:59 PM
It only takes a few minutes to setup a wallet. Have him install coinomi on his phone. Why do a bunch of work to get around a problem that takes under 2 minutes to resolve?
400  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S7 hash board rebooting constantly Edit: Found something else interesting on: March 05, 2018, 09:28:24 PM
The only time I have seen s7s act this wild was when one of my techs tried to run a voltage modded s7 at full speed. Try running the whole system at 600 and see if it still acts the same.
