381  Other / Off-topic / Re: Is it about morality or productivity in choosing to work from Home on: May 19, 2023, 10:33:58 PM
This is not a question of morality, but a question of "carrot and stick". Some workers need a carrot and will be disciplined to work from home, others need a stick in the office, otherwise they will not work effectively. Covid is over and the company must do everything to effectively manage employees, and this is easier to do in the office.

This situation is a case to case basis as there are jobs that you can do at your home.
Whereas, some positions need to be in the office to perform the needed tasks.
So it is not a question of morality, for me, it is how you can accomplish your job given the environment you are in.
There are so many home-based jobs now as you can achieve the same productivity at home.
However, there are some jobs that you can't accomplish at home like the laboratory jobs, or other hands-on jobs where you need company resources.

I wonder why Elon Musk did not raise the difference in employee's wages as morally wrong.  Grin  It would gather him more attention than his argument of working from home as morally wrong.  The way he explained the reason why he thinks it is morally wrong can be compared to saying that the fishermen fishing on the water is morally wrong when the farmer are on land cultivating the crops.  Honestly I find it funny how he come up with such idea.
382  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: In the market, following in the footsteps of Whales on: May 19, 2023, 10:05:35 PM
EWhales are the leading buyers and investors in a possible coin, which might be bitcoin or an altcoin in the sector; they regulate volatility by holding many trading positions in the market.

They are also the leading reason why an altcoin become worthless due to their pump and dump schemes.  Right after the whales had sucked out the support on the coins after they dump their coins for profit, they will move on to another possible prospect and never look back leaving the coin economics in devastated condition.

It is usually suggested to follow the trade mark of these top whales, as this is the only way to earn an excessive amount of money with cryptocurrencies?

If you can have an eye and ear of this whale group then it would be great to follow their movement.  But if we don't have the fund to move the market, we will never follow the examples of these whales, all we can do is just ride on their strategy if it happen that we know their plans and future actions.  Sadly that information is not available in public so more often than not, we are too late to react and always 1 step behind.  So instead of following this whales, it is best to learn trading technique.
383  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to get satisfaction from payment schedule of this forum? on: May 19, 2023, 09:38:33 PM
I am new here!
Therefore I don't know how to work here?
How many days are required to get paid?
How much payment I will get for each post?
Hehe.... You're not even up to a workable stage....
Alot needs to happen for you to be able to get paid in here ....why would you call this minor incentive a job ?? It's not static and reliable in anyway.
You need alot of posts and activities first; you've only got only 8 and that's not even enough. Then, finally and most importantly, you need merits... - that qualifies anyone to Thier next rank. You'll only have to apply for a slot in any casino of your choice and if you're being selected based on your post qualities, then you'll wear the casino's signature and avatar.

He can join the bounty campaign on the altcoin section by utilizing his social media accounts to join the campaign.  That is one of the few that @OP can take advantage in order to earn from this forum.  He can then prepare his account and join the discussion to  get merit and fill the activity to rank up.

The problem with the bounty campaign is that the value of payment is unpredictable.  He can be lucky and get huge amount or got unlucky to be paid with worthless token.  I think it is not bad to join the announced bounty campaign in this forum while he is ranking up his account.

Aside from that @OP can sell services or merchandise to earn in this forum.
384  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to Save Bitcoins for Future on: May 19, 2023, 09:07:57 PM
because I am not regularly using the wallet, I just keep it for a long investment (just plan to open it again for the next 10 years), so in that situation, I don't need the bootable Linux. I just hear that OS like tails are always updated regularly, so rather than update all the time, better for me to just keep that seed on the paper.

The reason you create the bootable drive is for security purposes because Windows is pretty much spyware. You only use the bootable drive temporarily to generate the wallet securely, not necessarily to use it.

This method suggested by mk4 is way safer than using the window OS.  Lots of hack and malware infection happen in windows environment and rarely I have heard linux being infected by malware.  Aside from that, it is also important to make sure the environment or OS system we are using in creating the wallet and private key extraction is clear of possible trojan viruses and other malware that can sniff our private key.  So  a fresh install OS is way better than using the OS that is exposed to a lot of sites.   Who knows that system is unknowingly infected by some hidden new malware that cannot be detected by AV and Internet securities.
385  Economy / Speculation / Re: Know your time to HOLD on: May 18, 2023, 08:12:29 PM
My take on bitcoin in 2023 by the way it bought and was pumping pumping and pumping was like it will never stop. I thought it was my year to make my money and keep much of Bitcoin in my wallet. But the dullness of over 2 months has changed my mind. The scenario poured coldness in my mind but again let me know that bitcoin behaves like an asset and asset has the time to buy and sell not the way I thought it will always be be buying.

Bitcoin market movement is really unpredictable, so we cannot justify anything just because our first few prediction happen.  Worst, if we are following technical analyst, Bitcoin is known a shamer of technical analyst.  There had been lots of prediction that bitcoin price movement had countered.

I have waited for the price to reach $25k for me to start pumping my money, it never reach there. I grows impatient daily, I won't wait more than 1st of July, any price I see it is what I buy.

I don't like to sound desperate, do I sound desperate or determine to make money?

Why not start now?  It would be more troublesome if bitcoin price goes up by the time you planned to buy it.  You can always have the opportunity to DCA if ever Bitcoin price goes downward.  But you will never average down if bitcoin price starts climbing up.

You don't sound desperate  since your plan is to hold Bitcoin for years.

386  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scammer Alert! Brokerstorm scam my money on: May 18, 2023, 07:49:48 PM
Warning: Be cautious of engaging with the company BrokerStorm. It has been reported as a potential scam. If you are considering registering with this company or if you are already registered, I strongly advise you to exercise caution and immediately withdraw all your funds.
Please take a moment to review the following sources for further information:

You may have chosen a gambling board since the accusation is about a casino, but then just as Cantsay pointed out that you need to move this thread to scam accusations under reputations, that is why, the warning can receive the right audience and attention unlike in here that you may only get comments from gambling board lovers but in reputation, non-gambling board members will also see the warning too.
For me though, I think the information is well received on this board, the site in question is a gambling casino and not like the op is making a scam accusation against the casino, this is rather a warning to all gamblers to stay away from the referenced casino, and this board, together with gambling discussion is the best place to reach out to gamblers which happen to be the ones who truly deserve to see this warning.
Several gamblers don't visit scam and accusation/reputation board, or does that once in awhile, like myself, so I think here is the best place to have this thread.

I also thought that @OP is about to state how Brokerstorm Scam his money (as the title stated) but I found out that @OP is simply giving a warning to members of the forum and the readers of these thread about the people who are scammed by Brokerstorm.  I was click baited by the title.  Cheesy

Anyway, it is true that there is no need for this topic to be moved on the scam accusation, and there is also no need for scam accusation format since I think this is just a normal reminder topic created by @OP to be vigilant and avoid Brokerstorm services.
387  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Third graders and Bitcoin on: May 18, 2023, 07:28:30 PM

The people in Congress don't understand the basics of Bitcoin, their tweets are pieces of evidence of it. But if the kid is really interested in Bitcoin, nothing stops them from reading or watching youtube discussions about it.

I wonder what would be the ground for this kids to get interested in Bitcoin?  Aside from watching animated movie or cartoons that discuss about Bitcoin, I do not see any possible interest this kids may have.  Yes they may know Bitcoin by name but I doubt they will dig deeper than what they have watched in animated film or clip.  Unless older people drive this kids into learning more about Bitcoin, kids will always take interest in fun activities and will often deviates from serious things since their nature at that age is to explore and have fun.  I doubt kids at that age finds fun in exploring serious matter about Bitcoin.

I don't think it's appropriate to teach children before the age of 10 about Bitcoin and things related to trading and the like, there are much more important things for children of this age.

Also, I do not know what the legal position is towards teaching minor children things that may be prohibited in many countries and involve risks, such as Bitcoin and trading.

Don't forget the parents' attitude towards this as well, I'm sure many parents of young students will not like this.
But that's if it's about investment. Teaching kids what money is, how it works, and how it can be used is IMO totally normal and can be done at a very young age. Kids need to understand money, what it can buy and what reasonable spending it, and getting some basic notions of different kinds of money (including Bitcoin) seems like a very neutral and age-appropriate topic to me.
Oh, the op mentioned that it was a maths lesson, and I've remembered that I teach the basics of maths and logic to a 7-year-old, and one of the official books for the subject actually has tasks that work with money denominations (like dollars and cents), how they add up etc. So money can already be in the program, and mentioning Bitcoin is just a reasonable addition from a teacher in such a case.

Yeah this is also another reason exchanges and trading platform allow 18+ people?  And reason why kids needs parental consent when parent used their kids name for investment?  Because kids are not supposed to deal with investment at that early age.  They are incapable of weighing pros and cons of the complexity of trades and investment.  Adding and subtracting with numbers are way different in equating the possibility of profit in a trade.  Yes mentioning Bitcoin as an example or as unit of measures in an example mathematical computation is ok, but teaching kids about economics of Bitcoin at such young age will only burden them.
388  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Happy to start bitcoin lifestyle. on: May 18, 2023, 06:32:17 PM
The most favourable investment is bitcoin, and I call it the most favourable is because it gives choice of what you want to invest, time, period, management and operations. I would love to take this opportunity to the next level, I don't investing any cash entering my hand even if bitcoin is going down or up, I still prefer it to others.

Im just curious, how can you make it to the next level if you don't invest money in Bitcoin?  You stated that you are not financially invested in Bitcoin because you prefer others to do it.  So since you wanting to take the opportunity to the next level, then you should involved your own finances to engage with Bitcoin investing.

I have seen a lot of testimonies of bitcoin despite the challenges it has faced but still good to mingle our mind with bitcoin lifestyle and love it, advertise it, campaign hard for it and trade cautiously. Bitcoin have touches lives my won't be exemption, I must learn, grow and earn from it.

Why not create a scenario where you yourself can be one of these testimonies.  What keeping you from investing your money to Bitcoin when you already have heard great success of people who are invested to Bitcoin.

You should also consider the risk in bitcoin too not only the positive side. Bitcoin is like any other investment that you can think of,but bitcoin with little stress,as long as the know the market analysis and can keep your coins safe, you will make profit. Bitcoin is not a get rich quick investment, you must be patient and strong to hold for long. Long term investment is the best for bitcoin.

@OP is so hyped that he forget about the cons of bitcoin investment.  Although, I think he will learn it as he engaged with Bitcoin economics, hopefully he would not learn it the hardway.

despite the challenges it has faced but still good to mingle our mind with bitcoin lifestyle and love it, advertise it, campaign hard for it
Bitcoin doesn't need any campaign before it can be recognized, it's adoption is a gradual process. A valuable asset speaks for itself due to the potential benefits that it has. For example investors have understand that bitcoin is a store of value and it is inflation resistance. This has made so many people to invest their funds on bitcoin and some government are looking forward to legalize it.

Bitcoin had already made lots of campaigns in its early years.  The advertisement and online banners can be considered marketing campaign.  It may not be directly came from the developers themselves and most of them are made by community, supporters and company that is involved in Bitcoin Industry.  Bitcoin needs awareness campaign and marketing and advertisement is the answer to it.

Genuinely want to know what prevents your friends/gf/ colleagues from investing? Did you have any barriers when you first started?

Lack of knowledge and trust is the obvious reason why people are hindered into investing to Bitcoin.  Another one is lack of money to invest.

If you are asking us about our biggest fear, on my part when I was starting with cryptocurrency, my biggest fear is to suffer losses on my investment.  Since I am new to the industry, I am yet aware about the market practice.  An indepth research will not remove that fear, after all researches never remove the risk involved in an investment.  It can help minimize but will never remove the risk in investment.
390  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What a shame on: May 17, 2023, 03:53:04 PM

I read some comments and I am disappointed, many people are just buying Bitcoin but they don't understand that Bitcoin gives power to the people through decentralization, for the first time in history the government is unable to be in total control of something, that's Bitcoin.

Government cannot censor the Bitcoin network because it is decentralized and there is no base of operation where they can barge in and confiscate everything and imprison people who are on the vicinity.  But Government has the power to ban Bitcoin and implement law that can arrest people who are engaging with Bitcoin trading.  That is the sad reality. Government still has the authority in its jurisdiction.  Besides, the government can control the centralized exchanges where most people are trading Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency.

Our freedom with Bitcoin is limited within the Bitcoin Network, when it pass through centralized exchanges to convert it to cash or trade it to other cryptocurrency, the freedom is compromised because centralized exchanges are subject to government regulation.

391  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So when bitcoin version 2 satoshi? on: May 17, 2023, 03:08:41 PM
Bitcoin's distribution has been pretty fair — it's accessible to anyone that's heard of it and at the same time got interested in it.

If you want distribution to the point that even your grandchildren's grandchildren will have access to newly minted bitcoin, then you're pretty much describing a protocol with endless inflation. Might as well use your local currency?

Yes sit down and play a game of monopoly from 10 years ago and save the money from a already won game and play it with your grand kids who start with 0 while you start with the 95% of the supply, your grand kids that are not even born yet will love playing the game with yah.  Roll Eyes You only already own boardwalk and parkplace and they will lose in 1 roll.  Roll Eyes

You can always invest on newly created cryptocurrency,   I bet there will always be a newly created cryptocurrency even after your great great granddaughter bear his last child. Leave bitcoin be, if you don't want a 95% mined cryptocurrency you can always check the altcoin section of this forum and or join a tg that announces newly launch project.   I do not think Bitcoin developers will recreate Bitcoin, if they plan to, I think it won't be called Bitcoin anymore since there is only one Bitcoin, any copy or fork will be an altcoin.

Quote
You know fiat can buy it all and the central bankers still win.

I hope the central bank will think like this, buying all Bitcoin and see if they can really accumulate 100% of actively circulating coins.

When Bitcoin was created everyone had fair distribution to mine as many Bitcoin as they could. Even with slow systems people could mine enough bitcoins. In the early days of Bitcoin the miners could mine many blocks of Bitcoin per day even with simple Pentium grade computers. Here is the post of Theymos that you must visit to see that how well was its distribution. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php? topic=43.msg371#msg371

It's distribution was fair and those who adopt it earlier made enough Bitcoin because of their own intelligence and early adopting of a great innovation. Thus, it's totally unfair if someone claims that Bitcoin distribution wasn't fair.

For OP it is unfair because Satoshi doesn't wait for him to know Bitcoin before start mining and launching it.  Grin  @OP if you think Satoshi is so unfair for you then you can always skip investing in Bitcoin and you are free to choose any cryptocurrency that is yet to be launched so that you can feel your sense of fair mining.  Nothing is forcing you to engage in Bitcoin investment so feel free to look for alternative if you don't like the system when Bitcoin was introduced to people.
392  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Some people started their BTC journey when things were more hopeless on: May 17, 2023, 02:42:28 PM
Just like what Nathan Rothschild stated,  "the time to buy is when there's blood in the street".  This is taking advantage of the market crash hoping that the market will recover one day.  This is what they called contrarian investing[1] meaning the worse off the market, the better the opportunities in the market.

This is one of the investing strategy on a proven cyclical market just like Bitcoin.  Bitcoin is the best investment venture for the contrarians because as we observe, Bitcoin is cyclical and they can often apply the ideology stated by Nathan Rothschild during the bear market and take profit when Bitcoin bull market rally.  This is why aside from DCA, whales tends to scoop large amount of BTC in a conservative way when market is crashing.  They take advantage of the fear of people and panic selling of weak hands to accumulate more BTC.

393  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How much does Bitcoin affect other cryptocurrency? on: May 14, 2023, 10:54:29 PM
The prominence of bitcoin and its being the first cryptocurrency with a large market cap go without saying when it affects the entire cryptocurrency market. The price movements of altcoins closely resemble Bitcoin's performance, and Bitcoin's market sentiment often spreads to other cryptocurrencies. This correlation is closely tied together by factors such as market sentiment, investor behavior, and the liquidity provided by Bitcoin. So, once the price of bitcoin rises, it can cause altcoins to rise quickly, and vice versa, when bitcoin falls, it can also cause altcoins to fall deeply.

This happen because Bitcoin has direct impact on the whole cryptocurrency.  When Bitcoin is doing well it can attract new investors which can even give new investors to other cryptocurrency which can give an increased demand to other cryptocurrency.   Although some altcoin market move independently in most cases, they are still affected when Bitcoin become bullish because the hype of Bitcoin is spread out to the entire cryptocurrency ecosystem.
394  Economy / Gambling / Re: Slot Educational Parade on: May 14, 2023, 10:37:02 PM
That parade is one creative way of warning its community on the effect of gambling but why is it that I think that it would have rather a reverse effect that instead of making audience see the negative effect of gambling, they will be enticed to play gambling because the slots game is greatly highlighted while the effect is overshadowed by the slot presentation.  It would give a better result if the coordinator of the parade give readable hand-out on the negative effect of gambling.

I believe that kind of gambling awareness parade will not give a satisfactory impact on preventing people to gamble.
395  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to know a good bitcoin investors! on: May 14, 2023, 10:08:01 PM
I am not getting what you want to express exactly. A Bitcoin investor should be well-experienced and well Patience. Otherwise, they won't become a Bitcoin investor at all. I am talking about personal investment actually, not institutional investors. Because institutional investors are well-planned and won't regret their actions. Please write well instead of botted your thread. So we can realize what you want to explain.

As far as I know Bitcoin investors are people who spend money to acquire Bitcoin in aim to make profit from it in the future.  Whether they are good investors or not depends on their action but I do not think you can only be label as Bitcoin investor if you are well-experienced and have good patience. From the context of the meaning of investor

Quote
in·ves·tor
noun
a person or organization that puts money into financial plans, property, etc. with the expectation of achieving a profit.

It does not say that they need to be well-experienced and have patience in order to be identified as one.  Of course there are these labels to investors such as good investor, bad investors, newbie investor etc...

* they're risk managers

I don't think they are risk managers, because anyone who understands the high risk of investing in bitcoin would never invest on this coin. As we know cryptos are a high-risk investment and when we talk about risk it means the bigger risk is equal to biggest profit or bigger loss. so, those ones who know about risk and investment they would put bitcoin in the last spot of the investing options. And I know this because I had this conversation with some experimented Investors, and they just don't like cryptos because the risk doesn't worth it.

They can be, since they are able to minimize the risk involved in a certain investment.  If someone understand the high risk and is able to mitigate this high risk can be said to be a great smart or wise investor.  One of this kind investor is warren Buffet where he invested on the failing company and be able to rake huge profit from them.
396  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie should learn from this fast confirmed transactions tricks on: May 14, 2023, 09:46:46 PM
That is because the Bitcoin network is starting to normalized when you share your experience with your colleages.  Right now the transaction fee is almost back to normal with at least 15 sat/vb being accepted on the blocks.  Viabtc accelerator won't process any transaction that has too low transaction fee.  It so happen that your friends transaction fee is acceptible in the network thus I don't see any magic when you say Viabtc accelerator do the trick.
397  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My experience with memorizing seed phrases on: May 14, 2023, 09:18:41 PM
Interesting thing about memory, it's easier for me to repeat them in the sequence that I was always repeating (seed 1 -> seed 2 -> seed 3 -> seed 4) than to repeat only one seed that isn't the first. Also I can't repeat the words starting from non-first word or in an order that isn't original. So to me it's more like keeping in memory one big 48-word seed than having 4 seeds of 12 words each.

This is because our brain can easily recognize patterns.  The way the seedphrase is memorized and practiced, our brain conceive it as a pattern so when we try to make it in random, the pattern in our brain is broken thus we have hard time remembering the next word.

So in summary, I think memorizing a seed is easier than most people think, and there's no need to come up with songs or rhymes or other stuff, they can probably even make things worse. But in general memory is not reliable, even in long term, so this shouldn't be viewed as a reliable backup. It's just a nice extra layer of backup that doesn't require any complicated setup, and its strongest upside is that it's always with you (until your memory fails).

I agree, if our brain develop a pattern on the seed pharse it is much easier to remember because it all needs is the initial string and the next will automatically follow.  But obviously people brain has limit.  Memorizing is good for those who have high retentivity but bad to those who are not.  There are also cases where the brains deteriorates and start forgetting things.  This is disastrous to those who rely on their memories for important things.  So to be sure about not forgetting things, a more reliable back up is needed.
398  Economy / Speculation / Re: It was easy to know the SELL of this week with a simple chart analysis on: May 13, 2023, 10:45:24 PM
They are all waiting for that $12k price but i think $20k will be the lowest price for this down trend, just take it or leave it. Bitcoin is down, many are still wondering for the real bottom and i guess doing DCA right now is a good idea, hard to tell where the price is heading actually. TA might tells us a strong support, but then again it can still break so be cautious and know when to buy and sell.

I am in doubt that the Bitcoin market will touch $20k, I also think that the market will start to recover since the problem with TX fee is somehow diminishing.  This may change the bearish sentiment into bullish because transacting with Bitcoin will go back to normal again.  But in case it did @OP would benefits a lot in this scenario since he can reaccumulate his holdings and will have a better position and more holdings assuming he shorted and use both the fund and profit to reaccumulate Bitcoin if ever it dips more.
399  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Internet is one limitation of bitcoin on: May 13, 2023, 09:49:20 PM
I don't know much about this issue and I'm only speaking according to what I know.

In my opinion, the absence of the internet will disrupt transactions or invest in BTC, because without the internet, it will be difficult for us to buy and sell BTC.
I think in this case we have to make a wise decision and in this case you are the one doing it so I think you have to do your own research or like other friends suggest it for you, so you can make transactions using BTC etc.
honestly without the internet we will not be able to transact using btc.

All digital transaction is limited by having no internet and Bitcoin is not different from them.  Since Bitcoin thrives in an online environment, it cannot perform its function when deprived of the internet.  Although there are some ways of transferring Bitcoin outside its standard means, it is more troublesome and possess risk in the process.  The good thing is this limitation is shared by many other digital  system like e-banking, CBDC  and other online commerce, it is more likely that this limitation can't be exploited by the anti-Bitcoin group.
