Russia’s Central Bank: Bitcoin Users Can Face Jail Time MOSCOW, January 27 (RIA Novosti) – Russia’s top monetary authority slammed digital currencies Monday, warning that Bitcoin use can lead to criminal charges in the country. The anonymously produced “virtual currencies” can be intended by its producers for money laundering and terrorism funding purposes, the Central Bank said in a statement. This means that Russian digital currency users can become involved in criminal activity simply by using the Bitcoin and its analogues, the regulator said. Digital currencies also lack any backing and are used for financial speculation, which increases risks for users, the Central Bank said. Moreover, Russian legislation directly prohibits the issuance of surrogate currency, the statement said. Money laundering is punishable with up to seven years in prison in Russia; funding terrorism – with up to 15 years. Russia’s legislation does not state a punishment for issuing surrogate currency. http://en.ria.ru/business/20140127/186966541/Russias-Central-Bank-Bitcoin-Users-Can-Face-Jail-Time.htmlRussian exchange indefinitely down and not answering their emails and support tickets in 5...4...3...

Caution: Some alpha male reported high levels of gamma radiation during betacoin mining. Last I heard, he (possible psi) was deltaing the elliptic curve via adjusting some pi setting, albeit I don't have one iota of a clue if this omega solution of his would work, for it's all...wait for it...Greek to me.

At the very, very, very least, if all goes according to plan, 2014 will be the first year that Bitcoin makes a Super Bowl presence, even if not seen on national television during the game. Ideally, we would like to have as many photos as possible of the banner being displayed inside and out of MetLife Stadium so that others could use the photos down the road to further Bitcoin awareness.

I will be at the Super Bowl if you are still looking for someone to wave the banner at the game.
Finally, some good news, albeit I've encountered an issue on my end due to the printing of the banner by my local printer. The banner was supposed to be finished today, but received a phone call stating that it'll be delayed till Friday due to lack of employees Monday and Tuesday because of the extremely low temperatures here in Northern Illinois. I cancelled the order, for fear it'll be too late to receive, then still have to ship to a yet unknown Super Bowl XLVIII attendee. I came here now to express the above, but was greeted by your wonderful post. But, there's still a solution if you're so game: I'll send you the graphic file, whereupon you'll have the printing done locally, of which I will pay FULLY via BTC for the printing of the banner and whatever other charges associated with doing such amounts to. For reference purposes, the cost associated for doing such here in Illinois is $54 USD for a one-sided, three foot square banner. I ordered two banners with the intent of sewing them together, thus making it a two-sided banner, but feel free to forego the two-sided option unless you feel advantageous. After posting this, I'm going to PM you so that we can work out all the details if you're still inclined. I took the liberty and read some of your post history, and feel very confident with you, not taking time to do any further vetting. I'll assume you'll do your damndest to somehow get this quasi-Bitcoin-themed banner broadcasted on FOX and seen by it's 100M+ viewers during Super Bowl XLVIII. As I've mentioned, afterward you'll get to keep the banner to do with it as you wish. Bear in mind, it'll be worth a helluva lot more if all goes to plan. Thank you, bud. ~Bruno Kucinskas

I propose that 100 Satoshis, i.e. a micro-bitcoin, henceforth be known as one Finney in Hal's honor.
I support this proposition. 0.000001 = A Finney / Pronounced a 'finneh' (slang) eg. "Got a couple finneys from rain yesterday"
ALL IN FAVOR, QUOTE THIS MESSAGE
No other name will do. I'm in. I vote yes, and not because Phinnaeus Gage is bias.

"... Virtual coins not legal tender, and not a form of electronic money... Ergo, don't use Bitcoin because it's not a form of electronic money to purchase eBooks, for they're not a form of real books. Also, don't pay for pay-for-view concerts with any currency, for they, too, are not real concerts. The following is NOT a real goat: "I see what you did there!" <not a real quote>

First part was quite positive
I like the part about mega VCs investing in massive data centers to mine bitcoins. They're concerned about money laundering via bitcoins, but when given an example, nobody flinches. Care for another example? Have you noticed all those Bitcoin Miner product sites lately? Not the ones discussed on this forum via threads introduced by their owners, of which are then turned into some sort of flame war or scam thread, but the other ones. The handsomely built ones, with all the bells and whistles, with order pages in place. Those, those that you'll never hear a single complaint about by nary a customer. Why? Because the owners are their only customers. The above hit me like a ton a bricks only a few minutes into that first video. Every one of those sites that I eluded to above can easily transact, then covert to fiat directed to their bank accounts, a quarter to a half million dollars in sales and, get this, the entities could all be registered and totally in compliance. For those playing at home desiring to know exactly how the above is played out, simply ask, whereupon I'll pen a detailed post outlining the simple procedure. ~TMI BTCITW What you describe is not bitcoin specific and it already happens everyday. Its what we call "money laundering" .... Notice how ppl clean their money thro their own business? Kinda funny when you think you found a loophole tho..... The second market guy said it all correct " i dont see how or why mining would need regulation?" Thats it about mining. Stop making you sound like you've just invented a wheel. I'm not trying to make it sound like I just invented/reinvented the wheel. Ready for some more butthurt? Consider all them alt coins. Surely, no one would argue that nary a one of them is used for laundering fiat. Try following that/those public blockchains. Fiat ---> Bitcoin ---> Alt1 --> Alt2 --> AltEtc... --> BTC --> Fiat

"But Mr. Lawsky said such companies would still need to show they are following anti-money-laundering rules, because, "if there's a choice between preventing money laundering and innovation, we're always going to choose squelching money-laundering first."
That must be the most disingenuous BS statement I've read in a long time. It would be nice to see one of the presenters throw in a mention of HSBC and JPMorgan et al and ask the regulators to explain why they allow the too big to bail criminals openly get away with money laundering and in particular drug cartel money laundering.
You've got to look at who is speaking and then decide on probability of anyone dissing HSBC and JPMorgan ...... 0% Ditto on this. We should have had Andreas Antonopolous in the sessions, he wouldnt have pulled any punches. He's also a fantastic communicator who explains not only how bitcoin works but also the future benefits. Most of the people in session 2 seemed to have a sketchy idea of what bitcoin is, including Charlie Lee, he may be a great coder but we need great communicators in these sessions before law makers and politicians.Tit-for-tat! Benjamin M. Lawsky's asking the questions. BTW, Lawsky? Seriously? Hell, Carlton Banks should've been on the panel.

There's something about this Lawsky guy, but I can't quite put my figure on it. It seems as if he's been appointed to speak for some other entity due to his voicing on the subject being carefully phrased. And I'm not just talking about him being personally carefully choosing the words.

I am not really sure if this is a good idea It's a risky idea if they have a gun. Usually attempted(failed) suicides are pill related. If he/she has not thoroughly researched suicide he/she will probably just swallow some pills and alcohol, pass out, vomit, wake up in a pool of his/her own puke. If he/she is foolish in the pill he/she attempts to use for suicide, he/she may be left with some permanent damage. If the OP does read this after waking up in vomit, seek medical attention. They can purge your system if you act fast. Been there, done that--TWICE! Damn, I miss their pussies! Luckily, for me, I've yet to meet a goat worth killing myself over, albeit one came pretty damn close once.

Praying for you man.
~Isaiah 41:10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Belief in God/Heaven and Jesus just encourages suicide. Don't encourage him. Seeing the fibonacci sequence in nature helps me realize we were created by intelligent design. From flowers, sea shells, spider webs, oak trees, pinecones, pineapples, all the way to galaxies. AWESOME! If I were a Supreme Being, I would have created a more complex system oppose to using an easy one for all-things-considered to develop. "I am God! Look at me!" "Whatever, Dude!"

How so? Come on man.
The popular Christian belief is that Jesus died for ALL of your sins. <opted to not change the glow from red to yellow>Suicidal individuals that believe they will go to heaven, are more likely to commit suicide. When dealing with suicidal individuals, avoid anything that may have any good after death experiences(most religions). Take the person to a morg and let them touch a cold body instead. Nothing like seeing a real dead person, to scare the suicidal thoughts right out of someone. Letting them attempt suicide also works pretty good, alot of really anguished thoughts cross a suicidal persons mind while attempting suicide. I recommended the book and method as it takes ALOT of prep, during which most people would come to their senses. You've heard of suicide-by-cop, so is this the first suicide-by-Romans (or is it suicide-by-Jews, for I'm not that versed on the verses?)?
