401  Other / Meta / Re: Why so secure on a forum? on: July 18, 2015, 07:45:45 PM
TBH, 45 seconds feels a bit much for stopping a bruteforce attack.
5 seconds maybe sounds more reasonable, and even lesser would work. Bruteforce attacks work only when the attacker has the hash.

Let's assume a 6 character lower case only password.
There are (26^6) combinations, and it will take (26^6)*45 seconds to check them all
That's 440 years. Changing it to 5 seconds will reduce it to around 49 years.
Something stronger, like 8 characters (still less), upper and lower case and numbers will take millions of years.

So the question is still, why?
402  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BTC wallet question (Greenbits wallet) on: July 18, 2015, 07:28:24 PM
Hi, Muhammed Zakir
Why you say:

Don't use Blockchain.info wallet ?!?

there are problem with this wallet?

It's online which means it is not fully in your control.
I don't agree with Muhammed Zakir, I think it is perfectly usable for small amounts.
Use it if you prefer it for convenience, but don't put majority of your funds there. Have a wallet normally installed on your own computer with majority of your funds or a paper wallet or something.
403  Other / Meta / Re: Dark theme. on: July 18, 2015, 07:13:49 PM
*snip*
And yes, Epochtalk will support themes.

What's Epochtalk Shocked
Is that what the new forum is called now?
(or is it some wordplay that I missed or something totally different)
404  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestion for the trust settings on: July 18, 2015, 07:08:28 PM
If you choose to see the untrusted feedback along with the trusted feedback, there are chances that most users will have -9999 trust ratings (specially the DT members) as many scammers do leave them these ratings as a revenge feedback. It's better to have your personalized trust system where you add your own trusted users in the list. The Default list is also good enough but when you deal with anyone, do check if the untrusted ratings mention about scam attempt and the reference link mentioned.

You clearly have no clue about what you're talking about.
Toggling that setting allows the feedback to be seen, but doesn't suddenly give them trusted status.

I don't think making untrusted feedback visible is completely necessary, as even before I toggled the setting, I tended to click the "Show Untrusted Feedbck" button on each page.
OP, I think you should look a bit more thoroughly, even to the point of checking the reference links and thepeople giving the trust in an attempt to check if the trust is valid and if it is possible that the trust givers are alts.
405  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Verify a public and private key pair on: July 18, 2015, 05:34:45 PM
Is there a tool to verify a public and private key pair? I am thinking about a small Python or Java based tool, where I can provide the private key in order to get the public key or something else.

I am asking because I created a paper wallet on what the public and private keys were printed. Before I send Bitcoins to the address I just want to check if the private key fits to the public key.   Cheesy

That is what importing an address is.
And if you ask anybody paranoid about the security of their paper wallet, they'll tell you to never type down a private key on an internet connected device.

What's the solution if you really really want to verify it, but still want to be 100% sure that there is no means for someone to remotely access your wallet?
Import your wallet on a device not connected to the internet, and then format it. (Sounds overkill right)

The easiest I could think of would be an android device. Download a bitcoin app, put it in airplane mode, confirm that the address you get from your private key is the same, factory reset your device.

Whatever small Python or Java based tool you're thinking of would be the same as importing your private key when it comes to how vulnerable it is. Maybe more if you don't audit the code and someone else slips something malicious in.
406  Economy / Gambling / Re: Recomended poker rooms on: July 18, 2015, 12:57:33 PM
I would recommend Betcoin.ag mostly , you can play WPN tourneys if you are a betcoin player
but honestly if you don't have a problem with verifying your account and if you are in a country where gambling online is allowed then don't play at btc sites
non of btc poker sites can make you totally happy with their services and usually there is a lack of players

Not needing to verify yourself is pretty much the best part about Bitcoin sites Tongue

Also, on topic, can anyone suggest any really really low stakes poker sites or ones with frequent freerolls?
I'm currently using pokershibes (dogecoin based) and converting BTC to doge as needed. The main reason is that there are tournaments with buyins of 0.1 mBTC equivalent in doge and rooms with 1/2 doge stakes (60 satoshis!)
Looking for a poker room where I can play for ages without risking anything.
407  Economy / Gambling / Re: ♛ BitCasino.IO - 700+ games / 63,900+ BTC Jackpot / MICROGAMING, NETENT, BETSOFT on: July 18, 2015, 12:02:43 PM
And are the games provably fair? I'm not finding any details about how to verify the fairness.

NO, they are using game providers such as NETENT , MICROGAMING and the others so there is no way to "verify" by your own

OK. I'm surprised people still play at such places after provable fairness was invented.

The people who play there would be the same people who go to casinos and play slots, or roulette or most non-skill based games with large house edges.
I could imagine a lot of people would like the flashing slots over dice, finding it more entertaining to watch.
The bonuses (hidden behind rollovers) are enticing too (to those who don't see the little *).

I found this old post and it seems like most of the game will not count for the rollover and this is weird because only slots count the most. Slots have a high house edge so higher chance tol ose your deposit bonus

Heh, I got around it in the end. The poker on the website is quite easy, so I built up a bit with poker.
Then went to slots, lost some, but progressed towards the rollover.
And finally withdrew 0.19 BTC, after starting with the free 0.01 BTC and fulfilling the 35x rollover Smiley

That's the advantage of poker on the site.
The games are really easy.
A lot of the players keep shoving with sub-par hands, allowing you to make quite a bit.
409  Economy / Gambling / Re: ♛ BitCasino.IO - 700+ games / 63,900+ BTC Jackpot / MICROGAMING, NETENT, BETSOFT on: July 18, 2015, 09:31:29 AM
I've been playing only Poker on the website, and it's not as great as I would've expected.
Tournaments exist only at certain times of day, between 1 PM and 6 PM most of the time. A small amount of tournaments are outside that range by a couple of hours, but are infrequent. Definitely needs more tournaments.

Multitabling support is bad. Only one table can be seen at a time, meaning you have to flip between tables rather than viewing multiple at once. The website occupies only a tiny amount of space on your screen anyways, so this seems weird.

Other than that, the rollovers don't have much information either. I'm playing with a 10 mBTC free bonus I had got, and I have no clue about my progress to withdraw. I don't know how much I have gambled, and don't know how counts towards the rollover. More information regarding rollover progress needs to be provided.

Where can I find the minimum number of players needed for a poker tournament to run?
I can't see that anywhere.
Thanks!

Look forward to trying out the poker Smiley

I guess we have too many Patrollers and not enough dedicated board moderators. We discussed this a while ago, sometimes I don't have any reports to handle but Cyrus had 100+ reports. I proposed to reduce workload multiple times but got no answer. Well, Admins know better.
This. Anyone who says that we have enough moderators is wrong. It's possible that there are too many people patrolling newbies at the moment, while boards such as local ones do not have enough moderation.
Let me just show you a picture that I just took:
*snip*
I've scaled it down so that it can fit. There were a few more in other sections in the Chinese board. It took a while to report all of them.

I was just reporting them too.
Does multiple people reporting the same thread make any difference, maybe make it a higher priority in the queue?
I assume the mods will anyways delete all upon seeing that all are similar.

Wait, is it in eBook format or a physical copy?
If Physical, do you offer international shipping?
414  Economy / Lending / Re: [CLOSED] grtthegreat - .25 btc loan on: July 16, 2015, 08:38:30 AM
It seems the scammer who made this request took control of the account but didn't change the password. Then about 2 hours later BTCBLOGGER changed the password and locked the scammer out:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1120052.msg11876162#msg11876162

Of course there's no way to know for sure but personally I don't think BTCBLOGGER made the loan request.

C' Mon, really? You really think that's what happened? Why don't you think he would do this when this is something he'd exactly do? He has a history of pretending to do the right thing in public but behind the scenes he's trying to rob people himself. What sort of hacker doesn't change passwords? That's the first thing you do. Anyone including the original owner can then just re log in but that person who did just happens to be btcblogger?

The only two things that could be assumed are altruism or extreme stupidity.
If he wanted to scam, why would he specifically say that he had access to the accounts.
I don't know, there is a chance he expected this plan to work, but its hard to comprehend that someone would ever think that.
415  Economy / Services / Re: 123giftcards.net A website that buys your giftcards for BTC on: July 16, 2015, 08:26:09 AM
They just link to Gyft if you choose to buy though.
And a lot of the gift cards on Gyft can't be bought for BTC. One example is iTunes. Try buying an iTunes gift card, and they will only accept CC or Paypal.
416  Other / Archival / Re: delete on: July 16, 2015, 07:11:47 AM
That's not how this works.
That's not how any of this works.

I admit, Quickseller is pretty active, and does quite a bit of scambusting (I remember when he used to just be an account seller Tongue)
But I don't think the forums will take into account our opinions when deciding new moderators.
And I'm not sure about the extent to which scam busting and moderating are similar. Moderators don't delete scammers threads, ban scammers or anything of the sort. His reports sound quite impressive, but that's for admins to consider, not us.
417  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: Dadice account level 8 low price on: July 15, 2015, 04:38:36 PM
Level 8 Dadice Account for sale , faucet every 5 minutes = 2000 satoshi (0.000125 BTC)

Price 0.02 BTC
or 5€ paypal

PM me

2000 satoshis is 0.00002, nowhere close to the 0.000125 you mentioned.
Were you referring to something else when you said 0.000125??
418  Economy / Gambling / Re: try your chess skills for bitcoin on: July 15, 2015, 03:37:12 PM
I'm a chess player myself and if we aren't playing with bots here, there is a higher chance of winning if you are good with chess.
I sure would be playing such if someone could just confirm users playing with users here in bitcoin community. Smiley

How? I say "hi enhu, let's play a game".
You play against "jambola2" on the website.
I open up a chess program in the background, type in every move you play, and destroy you.
You might decide to put negative trust on me for botting.
But what proof do you have? I may be a GM level player.
The only thing you could do is decide to play with people you trust a lot. Then it becomes more of a question of why are you using this website? Play on a free website and directly play the person you're playing with. You won't have to even pay the house rake.
419  Economy / Services / Re: WTB VPN subscription on: July 15, 2015, 02:59:42 PM
You can directly buy PIA access.
They accept Bitcoin, and charge 3.33$ per month if you buy a yearly subscription.
(If you use this link sent to users whose subscription has just ended, you will get it for 20% off, for only 2.66$ per month if you order a year.
Also, they have a 7 day moneyback plan if you don't like it.

(Warning: Moneyback is not tied to BTC, but tied to USD. May be lesser if BTC rises in the 7 days)
420  Economy / Services / Re: [Work] Free - Paid Services available! on: July 15, 2015, 12:55:39 PM
Can you make me an Avatar?
I was thinking mostly of plain text. "Jambola2 is our overlord" or something like that. If you can think of something better, do it!
I want to start some sort of campaign where I make people wear it for satoshis.
I'll pay you 0.005 for it  Tongue
