401  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin core transaction is stuck on: December 17, 2023, 09:00:56 PM
i have included my TXID below thank you

9004ca93cf578578463f141a5f3132735a418ae015c176debfebf612b31d4a0d

I checked multiple blockchain explorers and nodes, your TXID doesn't exist. This means you should be able to create a new transaction and spend the same inputs (UTXOs). Make sure your wallet is fully synced. Right-click on an unconfirmed transaction to pop up a contextual menu and check if it has the option "Abandon transaction".

edit: it seems that hosseinimr93 was faster while I was still writing my post...

then another you can also do is to cancel the transaction.

How do you suggest that he can "cancel" the transaction?

If if is Coolwallet then you can import the it to Trustwallet and make the transaction from there and bump the fee.

Why Trust Wallet? Dont you think Electrum or some other reputable open source wallet would be a much better solution in this case?
403  Economy / Reputation / Re: Nutildah's bounty cheaters & ban evaders thread on: December 16, 2023, 09:05:21 PM
Hello, nutildah I have followed some accounts and I can see the activity of BTT accounts between 4 to 6 I think all accounts are managed by one person you can see page 27 to page 28 Links: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5475833.520

You havent given us much information to work with. Every bounty thread is filled with such activities.

You could have at least singled out the accounts you suspect are alts, and explained why you think so.
404  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to learn about Bitcoin ? on: December 16, 2023, 08:59:01 PM
Most of the people here would give you some articles no beginner will read.  Realistically, you may get bored within minutes or the moment you realize how much you have to read.

Here is my advice.  Look up some basic YouTube videos about Bitcoin for starters.  Make it fun, not boring.
~

Yeah, Pmalek's got some great suggestions for YouTube videos that can help him learn. Definitely worth checking them out if thats his preferred learning style:

Jameson Lopp offers some of the best resources you can find online. Start with the beginner courses and work your way to the more advanced guides after that.

If you like YouTube videos, check out Andreas Antonopoulos' Bitcoin for Beginners playlist.
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLPQwGV1aLnTuN6kdNWlElfr2tzigB9Nnj

I would also recommend the @WhiteboardCrypto channel, which offers interesting animated videos with easy-to-understand explanations on various crypto-related topics:

I joined the forum and all I told some people around me about it, the next question is," how much have u earned", I was absolutely discourage as I remained mute till date.

You joined the forum ten days ago. Tell those people who ask you "how much have you earned" to fuck off!

No kidding. They are being rude and disrespectful. You dont owe them any explanation about your financial situation. So, next time someone questions your earnings, you could say its personal or that youd rather not discuss it and  there are polite ways to handle nosy questions.

Could you explain what you mean when you say a good part of the text is lost? Perhaps you could provide a screenshot of the problem so we can understand it better?
You can see the image above, that is from one of the FAQ thread on meta which is translated into my native language.

I get what is going on here.  Seems you run into a bit of a layout problem.  These old forum templates rely on website table structures to display properly.  Downside is, forget one little HTML tag and the whole thing unravels and  bummer.  Not much can be done on our end, far as I know.  Least not until the powers that be upgrade this creaky platform.   Wink

~ google translate these days is too unreliable to translate entire pages.

Perhaps the best workaround is to use the old-fashioned method of Google translate when you encounter such lengthy posts. Simply copy the entire text and paste it into translate.google.com, or you can try some extensions that enable you to translate only the highlighted text, which should not break the overall page layout.

If it's just me, is there a solution? I'm having trouble finding one.

I typically do not rely on Google translate since I have a good grasp of English.  But, there are times when I use it to translate content from other languages into English, like Russian posts for example and  i havent run into any major issues personally.

Could you explain what you mean when you say a good part of the text is lost? Perhaps you could provide a screenshot of the problem so we can understand it better?
408  Other / Meta / Re: How did you know about Bitcoin and Bitcointalk? on: December 14, 2023, 07:43:20 PM
I think I first came across the term Bitcoin from an IT magazine I used to read.  There were these mixed messages. Like some stories talked it up as this total gamechanger for finance.  But then others focused on how volatile it was, and the risks tied up with it.  Kinda typical media stuff - building something up just to tear it down again.

Anyway, I wanted to dig deeper into this Bitcoin thing so I Googled around and  stumbled on Bitcointalk as one of the bigger forums on it.  Lotta hype and arguing from what I saw but there was some decent info in there too.  Felt like an online version of those magazine stories - some believers yelling about revolution, others yelling about scams, your usual Internet drama.  But it got me reading and learning more at least.  Wink
409  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Is Electrum affected by this Ledger exploit going on? on: December 14, 2023, 07:08:31 PM
According to reports, only a malicious version of Ledger Connect Kit was identified. So it is probably smart to avoid those DApps if you are rolling with a Ledger.  Electrum doesnt do DApps anyway, so no worries there.

Ledger just isnt what it used to be. Company just keeps screwing up.
410  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin core can't restore old wallet on: December 14, 2023, 06:35:43 PM
I suggest you try reindex and rescan options.

Code:
--rescan --reindex

Also, it may be worth checking the error log file.

Is that correct, or is he trying to fool me and keep my recovered funds for himself?

What do you think about this? Honestly, since you are asking such questions, I assume you have your doubts. Scammers may be dumb, but they still manage to scam because there are people who are even dumber.

Be smart, do not fall for such bullshit stories!

he wrote his seed phrase on paper and drop it on his table after two months he started looking for the paper were he wrote his seed phrase where he login his trust wallet and two thousand worth of Bitcoin in his wallet is  not to be found,

What are we talking about here?  This person does not need a backup (seed) phrase to access his Trust wallet. Unless he somehow lost his passcode or his smartphone completely, and  that would be really stupid if he had deposited a significant amount of money into such wallet.

Also, the backup phrase is not the same thing as a private key.  Those are two distinct terms that should not be used interchangeably.
413  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The need for mental section or public orientation for new gamblers. on: December 13, 2023, 08:40:54 PM
I have seen a bunch of posts and topics talking about gambling addiction and responsible gambling.  And,  I feel like there is actually quite a bit of content already available if you search around on tips for gambling responsibly and avoiding addiction.  Just use the search or google to find posts related to whatever specific aspect of responsible gambling you are looking to learn about.

For example, some talk about setting a strict budget and walking away when youve hit your limit, rather than chasing losses.  Others discuss figuring out your motivations - are you in it for entertainment or do you harbor unrealistic hopes of big payouts? Getting clear on why you gamble can help keep things in check.  Theres also advice on taking breaks and not letting it take over your whole life.

Anyway, lots of angles already covered if you poke around.
414  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who is wiser? on: December 13, 2023, 08:12:13 PM
I don't think there will be a bigger dump for us to buy bitcoin cheaply. I think DCA is still the best method because the real bull season is not yet here and bitcoin has not made a new ATH yet.
You are making sense from this perspective. First bitcoin is yet to make a new ATH and secondly the anticipated bull run is likely not happening next year. Although, halving will be the first quarter of next year but I have read that the bull run does not happen immediately after halving. It takes more months for the major bull run to happen. If this be the case, theymos can still accumulate good fractions of Bitcoin without fear of lossing and the worse scenario will be that theymos will not maximise his profit but then he might also not lose.
However, if the market goes as speculated by many, Bob will be in better profit than theymos.

Well, what can we really take away from all this? The truth is, there is no way to conclusively answer a question like that.  We wont actually know how things shake out until each investor's investment timeline plays out.  So trying to definitively say whos the wiser one here? is pretty much impossible.  Cause, I mean we just cannot predict which direction the markets will move in the future.
415  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who is wiser? on: December 12, 2023, 10:03:02 PM
It is obvious that miss Alice doesnt really understand investing.

If she really believes putting money into some random altcoin will pan out well, she is mistaken.  With so many altcoins around, just choosing one at random is not a smart strategy at all and  theres got to be a better way to decide which cryptocurrencies are worth buying into.  I would advise her to do some research first before throwing her money around randomly. 416  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Mixing Services on: December 12, 2023, 07:56:23 PM
No big deal bro, it's just a matter of time not yet ban so I can say you are free to talk about it till the due date that was mentioned by theymos.
~

Based on the admin's recent updates, seems we can still chat about mixer services and such, just not openly promote any specific ones.  So if someone wants to have a discussion around the progress of mixer development or other privacy tools in general, that should be fine from what I gather.

Just trying to clarify because I want folks to feel comfortable talking broadly about technology while also respecting the rules against endorsements.
417  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: With gambling, it's probably easier to quit cold turkey on: December 10, 2023, 08:38:21 PM
Stopping gambling outright might help some folks with addiction issues, but going cold turkey isnt necessarily the best or most practical choice for all.  There is no one perfect way to beat a gambling problem that will work for everyone - different strokes for different folks, and all that.

Some people might find it easier to slowly cut back on how much they are gambling instead of just slamming on the brakes and  that could mean betting less money over time, playing less often or switching up the kinds of games they go for.  Taking baby steps might make it easier to deal with the nasty withdrawal stuff and lower the odds they will backslide. I think the best way to quit gambling is to find an approach that works for you individually, because every single person is different.
418  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is the absance of Bitcoin affect the crypto Industry? on: December 10, 2023, 08:20:26 PM
Id say Bitcoin is still a big deal.  Folks say it is gone the way of Windows or flip phones - important once, now old news.  But thats bunk.  Windows still runs a crapload of computers and what it did back in the day shaped computing big time.  Same with Bitcoin - it put crypto on the map and  theres lots of hot new cryptos making waves, but Bitcoin laid the tracks they all ride on, right?

Things keep evolving but you gotta respect the OG crypto that started it all.  Some folks are too quick to dismiss it just cause flashier options came along.
419  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: USDM to USDT on: December 10, 2023, 08:07:58 PM
This is my first time hearing about USDM, so I don't know if this is what the OP is talking about.
https://www.coingecko.com/en/coins/usd-mars#markets

If so, then I think you would probably advise you to stop using this stablecoin if possible, because it does not guarantee value compared to the fiat it wants to be tied to. And like @Husires, it's good advice to keep your stablecoins safer.

Hello

i am not sure about the mars on the end of the USDM for coingecko or not. Wether that makes a diff or not.  Or how it would exactlly work. I guess I would send the USDM from Multi to the USDM on coingecko, then re import it into pancake?  is importing into pancake the same as pasting a deposit. address?  I see there are several videos from google, on how to work with pancake

CoinGecko is just a data aggregator platform that gives information about various cryptocurrencies.  You dont send anything to CoinGeck, but you need to use an exchange, either decentralized (DEX) or centralized (CEX) to exchange your coins. On the other hand, PancakeSwap is a decentralized exchange (DEX) that operates on the Binance Smart Chain (BSC).

The first thing you need to do is definitely identify which token you are actually dealing with because the USDM ticker can mean several different tokens on different networks. You must identify the correct smart contract address.

Removed the WiFi card and Bluetooth. Format and reinstall the computer OS. That will let you to be 100% sure that your device is 100% not having malware.

I was thinking to remove the WiFi card and Bluetooth but my laptop Is inbuilt so If I want to remove this things i will have to unculple the laptop which might lead to damage.

A lot of older laptop models have WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity through modules that plug into the motherboard.  These things are usually pretty easy to get to if you pop off the access panel on the bottom.  If you can tell me the exact make and model of your laptop, I might be able to give you more specifics on how to remove that particular module.  Though if you're unsure about tackling this yourself, it wouldn't hurt to have an experienced technician help you out.  They'd know the best way to safely detach those parts without damaging anything.

If this could be possible it will be less stressful than the above option but how do I get a tails USB ?
Have anyone tried it before? To share the experience

You can download Tails OS and installation instructions for USB from their official website: https://tails.net/install/download/
Be sure to verify your download before using it.

I gotta say though, no software in the world can truly guarantee that your device is 100% air-gapped.  Your best bet is to just manually disable/remove the hardware if you really wanna go that route.
