421  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: why does coins change price constantly? on: June 12, 2018, 06:34:57 AM
It's all about the free market. People buy/sell coins and this causes the coin to increase/decrease in value.

Think of it like when you're going to your local farmer's market - if a lot of people have tomatoes to sell then the price of tomatoes is low but when only a few people sell tomatoes the price is high.

Also, another thing is that when it comes to altcoins, their price is linked to bitcoin's price (since the main way to buy them is through BTC) and these price fluctuations you see for BTC will be translated to the alcoins too.
422  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETC prediction on: June 12, 2018, 06:28:13 AM
There was a sharp spike yesterday after ETC was listed on Coinbase Smiley I see a 20% increase after everything settled down.

I'm not sure what would be a correct prediction for it but I hope it's going to break out of the bitcoin price limbo and we will see some increases that are not linked to the bitcoin price.

Thankfully, we saw that yesterday but it's been only one such event in a very long time.
423  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ETC] Ethereum Classic: Immutable Smart Contracts on: June 12, 2018, 06:18:58 AM
ETC has been announced today as the next listing on coinbase, watch it moon 200% overnight.
I think you added an extra 0 there buddy Cheesy Although, I would be willing to wait more than a night to see it double, just saying  Grin

It's nice that ETC is getting some attention from the Coinbase listing but I would like to see a well organized marketing campaign to increase the attention for it.
424  Local / Discutii Servicii / Re: Kraken exchange on: June 12, 2018, 06:13:12 AM
Eu folosesc Revolut.

425  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coins to buy on the dip? on: June 11, 2018, 02:58:37 PM
I would go for IOST, DGB, XVG. These three have a lot of potential and I believe they will skyrocket in the next months Smiley

Also, I would go for IOTA & EOS these have good projects behind them and it's just a matter of time until the price for them will increase consistently.
426  Local / Discutii Servicii / Re: Kraken exchange on: June 11, 2018, 01:46:55 PM

427  Local / Discutii Servicii / Kraken, Bitstamp exchange via Revolut & Mr. Tango on: June 11, 2018, 08:41:51 AM

428  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [CryptoNight] Forked coins, ASIC resistance and current algorithms on: June 08, 2018, 01:52:12 PM
You have a neat list that is probably worth some merits (would give some if i had any left). Might i just make some little recommendations that could potentially make it even better?
  • It would be useful if there was a link to the coin's website / ANN thread / or any sort of reference
  • I know price is volatile and what you post today may be invalid tomorrow, but at first glance the price of a coin could be a good way to filter which coins to research first
  • If no price, maybe a link to an exchange where it's available
I appreciate the kind words Smiley

It would be useful if there was a link to the coin's website / ANN thread / or any sort of reference
I'm adding a reference to an official statement saying it is ASIC resistant when new coins are added in or when users propose new coins. No proposed coins are added to the list until they get double checked by me.

I know price is volatile and what you post today may be invalid tomorrow, but at first glance the price of a coin could be a good way to filter which coins to research first
Price is not relevant to this list since it's not equal to profitability that may interest miners. As you said, it won't be possible to maintain something like this due to volatility.

If no price, maybe a link to an exchange where it's available
I could add the link to CoinMarketCap where you can find the exchanges but still this is something anyone can do easily.

Thanks for the other guys who proposed new coins, I will review and add them to the list if eligible.
429  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining profitability ASIC vs GPU on: June 08, 2018, 08:22:11 AM
The coins you're mining with ASICs may fork to implement ASIC resistance and you may end up in having a big loss as ASICs don't come cheap.

The gains are indeed higher for ASICs but the risks are higher too.
430  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin forecast on: June 08, 2018, 08:19:19 AM
Don't forget that you should always invest as much as you're willing to loose. The crypto currency market is a very unpredictable market that can go up fast but can also go down fast.

The question you should be asking yourself is: Am I willing to loose $5k?
431  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Rehab for crypto addicted. on: June 08, 2018, 08:14:43 AM
It's weird they seems to be treating this as gambling addiction. I don't think the two of them are anything alike.

Maybe they could be treating depression actually, this may be true if someone invests a large sum of money and then looses everything.
432  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [CryptoNight] Forked coins, ASIC resistance and current algorithms on: June 08, 2018, 07:56:58 AM
I've added in a new coin that has forked to implement ASIC resistance. It is called: FONERO (FNO) and it is a fork of Monero (XMR).

They're announced this in their announcement thread here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3109546.msg34310632#msg34310632

Do you have any other news on coins that may have forked?
433  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Where to invest long term aside from Bitcoin? on: June 08, 2018, 07:46:15 AM
If you ask me, I don't see bitcoin as the best investment opportunity if you're looking for major increases on your investments.

I would go for ETH, IOST, IOTA, EOS to name a few, these have a good perspective on increasing a lot over a time frame of a couple years.

If you don't care about large increases, and a steady increase over the years, then bitcoin is the right fit for you.
434  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will hit 25k by the end of this Year? on: June 08, 2018, 07:40:04 AM
The stock analysis firm Trefis seems to have adjusted their predicted BTC price for the end of the year from $15,000 to $12,500.

I think this is one of the first realistic predictions of bitcoin I have seen on the market Smiley

Usually everybody either say BTC will be worthless or it will be tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Read more about it here: https://cointelegraph.com/news/stock-analytics-firm-lowers-btc-year-end-price-prediction-by-nearly-17
435  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Stellar Holdings (HOLD) Revamped - POS/MASTERNODE - on: June 08, 2018, 07:32:14 AM
Thanks a lot for the update! After 3 posts requesting a simple thing, I finally got what I was looking for.

Vlad, Please join the discord.
There is ALL the information there.

This strategy of begging people on joining your discord will not get you far.

You're just annoying investors.
436  Other / Meta / Re: 28 activity in 7 days on: June 07, 2018, 11:19:38 AM
I have reached to 28 activity in only 7 days.I have registered in this forum 30 may and yesterday 6 June ,I have reached to 28 activity.
As I read ,14 activity has been counted in 14 days.So how can reach this...
Is there any modifications in rules ??
Most probably you joined when one 14 days period was about to end and continued to the next one. So, you have posts in both periods thus you are now at 28 activity.
You do imagine this metric is not calculated based on when a particular user joined BCT but is a general time frame for all of the members here. The current 14 day period started on June 5th and the next one will start on June 20th.

I managed to get 28 activity in just two days, and I discussed it in another thread here. There is a fairly detailed explanation in that thread. A search will probably find it. It discusses the operation of the activity cron job.
As activity is calculated based on a formula that takes the minimum between your post count and the time you were active, what probably happened was you were active but you did not have enough posts. So, your activity was determined by the number of posts you had at that point, afterwards you created more posts and the activity increased based on that.

Here's the formula as posted by theymos:
The activity number is determined in this way:
time = number of two-week periods in which you've posted since your registration
activity = min(time * 14, posts)

I hope this clears everything up Smiley
437  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Stellar Holdings (HOLD) Revamped - POS/MASTERNODE - on: June 07, 2018, 08:18:07 AM
Vlad, Please join the discord.
There is ALL the information there.
I not interested in joining any discord channels. I just want to move my coins to a wallet or to another exchange that supports it.

Why can't you provide something like that for people to know what to do with their coins?
Does that imply you don't have a wallet and that's the reason why you're trying to get people to stop posting here?
438  Local / Romānă (Romanian) / Re: Terminal cumparari crypto monede on: June 07, 2018, 08:02:46 AM

439  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: A library of valuable crypto articles on: June 06, 2018, 03:18:21 PM
Glad to see you have included a lot of interesting articles here Smiley I appreciate the effort, merited! Smiley

I think you can also include posts from this forum as I believe this is the best resource for crypto currency on the web Wink
440  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: 0XBTC is rising! on: June 06, 2018, 03:09:54 PM
The trend is looking good but this is still too early to tell if it will have any success since I see it was listed two days ago on coinmarketcap.com ...

Usually there's a fast high after the ICO but after a few months the coin usually goes under the ICO price and goes back on a bull trend if the team is actively working on it.

I've recently read some news saying that the real test for any crypto currency is if they survive after 1.5 years. So, you need to be patient.
