If you take the religious nonsense out of Russian Politics, they are doing a lot better job in the world then the US.

Are you sure about that? They totally failed as USSR, every one of their puppet regimes that they turned communist is a failing third world country (except for China, which only started crawling out of that dirt hole after becoming much more capitalist), and Russian GDP is about the size of Italy, with 70% of their country's income coming from oil and gas, and very little from actual high tech / high intelligence sectors that make real money in today's world.

So what do the Snr's and legends think is going to come of this tech

Looks like just an encryption layer on top of existing centralized-server based communication mediums. BitMessage aimed to replace the actual communications channel with a decentralized peer-to-peer model, not just add encryption.

Isn't Bitmessage incorporated into Open Bazaar?

If you look at some of the videos on OpenTransactions, FellowT mentions that different encryption methods can be used for messaging and Bitmessage is one being used, at least that is my understanding, so is this thread a discussion solely about Bitmessage and its future, or its use within OT? Its a thread that was started in May 2013, and a lot has happened since.

Pretty much everything about OpenBazaar is a carbon copy of OpenTransaction, One Works through browser, the other a desktop client

I think this thread is mainly about OpenTransactions. Also, OT and OpenBazaar are very different from what I have seen so far. Sure, maybe you could make OpenTransactions do everything OpenBazaar does, but you would have to change a lot of the code and write a lot of your own, since one is specifically designed to issue digital tokens and trade them around, and the other is specifically made to market and sell physical products.

I blame the United States for most of the worlds problems, and guess where I live? Yep Texas, the only state that was once a country.

I would blame USSR/Russia for most of the world's problems. They have invaded or tried to subvert WAY more countries than US did. Hell, a lot of the countries US had wars in was specifically to defend the country against Soviet invasions.

Some men are burly manly types, some are slim feminine types. Just like some women are very delicate and girly, and some are tough tomboys. People just range on a scale, and some like others of the same sex who happen to be on the other side of the scale.  It's just the way it is
426  Other / Off-topic / Re: Scientific proof that God exists? on: September 20, 2014, 09:43:37 PM
They have not observed the big bang have they?  But they believe it as fact, when indeed it isn't a proven fact.  It is even taught as a fact to students today in many schools and that, to me, is a travesty.  It needs to be taught as it really is, a theory!

Didn't we already explain in another thread a long time ago that a scientific theory is tantamount to a fact, because it is based on observable evidence and fact? You are thinking of the word "hypothesis," which is where someone just says, "I think this is how it is." A scientific theory is "this is how I observed things to be, and this is the simplest explanation." Like the earth rotating around the sun is a scientific theory (heliocentric theory) based on our observations. We observed how things move around in the sky, and sent satellites to space to verify observations, and the theory of "earth is rotating around the sun" is the simplest explanation we have for what we have seen. Keep in mind that we have never actually went to the sun and watched the earth rotate around from there just to be sure. We never needed to. Likewise with big bang, we can observe the universe expanding from a point, and can see background radiation far away in space that fits the simplest explanation of "everything came from one point." If you want to add your own evidence of a creator, you have to actually present the visible (or at least testable) evidence, not just something you think is true.
427  Other / Off-topic / Re: Scientific proof that God exists? on: September 19, 2014, 05:39:39 AM
The evidence for God is great. The fact that most of people in the world believe in God or a god, is in itself great evidence. The machine quality of the universe suggests a Maker.

Most people in the world believed the world was flat. That didn't turn out to be great evidence.

That was 500 years ago. Five hundred years from now scientists will be amazed at the silly things scientists of the 21st century believed.

Smiley

But pretty sure they won't be thinking 2,000 year old beliefs are LESS silly  Wink

Kinda pointless, cant prove such a thing scientifically.

Yes, but some people are going to keep on trying, just like some scientists keep on trying to prove something as silly as evolution.

Smiley

Scientists aren't trying to prove evolution. First, they don't have to, and second, that's not how science works. Christian "science" gets an idea or an assumption and tries to prove or disprove it. Real actual science doesn't start with ideas or assumptions. It tests and collects data, and makes conclusions based on that data, whatever those conclusions may be. So, for example, christian "science" will start with the assumption that the earth is 6,000 years old, and will look specifically for evidence to support it. Actual science will make no assumptions about the age of the planet, and will take all evidence into consideration, regardless of what it says about the earth's age. That's why scientists don't need to prove evolution. The evidence they collect just keeps pointing to it already.

But I didn't realize the place would go to shit so badly...

Rassah!  Long time no see!  You don't seem to hang out on Adam's thread do you?  That is the hangout for many of us as of late.

I miss our philosophical discussions though.  I saw the title of this thread and it appears that I have missed out on hours of fun debates. Wink

I figured anything I said might be said in vain though.  Undecided

Was that supposed to be a joke about "reposting lies and going to hell?"

If there is no God there is no heaven or hell so how could anyone go to hell by reposting anything if there is no such a place?

Hi! Yeah, definitely!

Adam's thread?

Not really a joke. If they are christian and believe in hell, then that claim will have meaning to them, even if it doesn't to me.

This is only possible because we mind our own businesses, and don't fuck with each other other than minor quarrels that is common all over anywhere there are neighbors.

LOL the US is the greatest invader of the world stealing resources all around the globe from oil in middle Est to dimonds in affrica to fatten its citizen pigs.

The US doesn't own oil companies, or the companies that invade and take over other country's resources (you're thinking of Russia and Gazprom probably). Our oil companies, like Exxon, aren't owned or controlled by government, and don't care who runs the country that holds the oil they want. They'll just make deals with the country whether it has a president or a dictator, and US can't really do much about it (other than impose sanctions).

Meanwhile, dollar dumping is being accelerated by the biggest energy superpower Russia, and the biggest economy, China...

Good. As China dumps the dollars, the huge debt that USA owns just keeps decreasing in value. And also USA can turn around and pay back that debt that it owes to China with the same dollars they dumped  Wink
433  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Donetsk, Kharkov, Lugansk - way to Russia. on: September 19, 2014, 03:39:28 AM
Let's see, there was Napoleon, the Crimean War invasion, WW1 Germany, WW2 Germany... I think I counted your countless invasions. Looks like four.

You forgot Mongol invasion (XIII century), Polish, Lithuanian and Swedish invasions (XVI-XVII century). Let's count again: that's eight major invasions. There aren't many nations with history so tough and bloody as Russian.

Well, if you want to go that far back, Ukraine was invaded in 968 invasion by Petchenegs, in 1220 by Mongols, in 1240 by Mongols, in 1385 by Mongols (again), in 1399 by Timurs, a couple of invasions by Poland from one side and Russia from the other through the 1600's, 1700's, and 1800's as Ukraine kept getting occupied by one or the other, in 1812 by France as Ukraine was occupied by Russia, in 1919 by Russia again at which point it was subjugated to 72 years of Soviet Russian horror, then its invasion by Germany in 1941 AND Soviet Russia at the same time, where BOTH Germans and Russians were shooting Ukrainians, and then finally some peace until this latest invasion, except for that holodomor thing that killed off an estimates 3.5 to 6 million Ukrainians. Russia had it VERY easy compared to Ukraine, and after all the invasions, fighting, division, and occupation, it's amazing that it's still standing as its own country.

Also, in your latter list most of the alleged Russian invasions were either: part of wars that weren't exclusively initiated or solely carried out by Russia, response to previous aggression, or in worst case weren't invasions at all - for example, telling that Russia (you mean: USSR?) invaded Yugoslavia in 1944 while it was occupied and tormented by Nazi Germany is a blatant lie.

Sure. They freed it, and turned it into Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. At least with that one they let them keep their independence, sort of, so I'll give that one to you. Many of the others they "freed" from the Nazis ended up part of their own country.

Seems to still work for me. Also, probably won't be an issue for this specific project, since OpenTransactions can have its own bitmessage stream separate from the rest of BitMessage (like a separate fork of bitcoin)

Luhansk's electric power station went offline after explosion.
http://krasnodon.biz/na-luganskojj-tehs-progremel-vzryv-oblast-ostalas-bez-ehlektrichestva/

This station generated almost 98% of electric power used by region.

P.S. According to ukrainians, Krasnodon started receiving the electric power from Russia. Luhansk line isn't completed yet.

Ukrainians following the "Scorched Earth" policy practiced by Russians during Napoleon invasion?

President’s Human Rights Council mid-point estimate: 55 percent of polled voters for annexation, turnout 40 percent, 22.5 percent of total Crimean population voting in favor.

For those still doubting there are nazis in ukraine, the german television surely spotted them..

No one is doubting there are nazis in Ukraine. There are nazis in practically every part of the world. What people are doubting is that there are nazis in control of Ukrainian government, which are claims made exclusively by Russia, and why Russia is so concerned about nazis in Ukraine when Russia has more nazis than any other country in the world.
439  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Donetsk, Kharkov, Lugansk - way to Russia. on: September 18, 2014, 03:59:14 PM
This is just another part of Russia's hybrid war tactics. Criminals are not soldiers, they do not wear Russian uniforms, but they can still attack the 'enemy' country with their criminal behaviour. It makes great propaganda because Russian media liars can cry wolf that the "Ukrainian junta is oppressing ethnic Russians! Cry Innocent Russian civilians are being targeted for no reason! Ukrainian nationalism and Nazism is getting worse!"

What if the criminals get extradited to Russia? Nothing.

Then they will cry "Ukraine is doing ethnic cleansing against Russians!"

Hmm... I see there's a full-out war going on here... Shocked

I guess the truce is observed here just as well as by the Kiev coup-government's ground troops in Ukraine...

AND the Donetsk and Lugansk junta troops in Eastern Ukraine. You HAVE heard that they are firing on Ukrainian troops still, too, right?

As for my daddy? Certainly not the US.  Grin I've been steadily moving all of my assets that were US dollar-denominated bonds to Northern Europe, Russia and BTC. Nothing patriotic or personal, just business, looking at the the way the events are playing out.

Oh, come on! Put your money where your mouth is! Move them into rubles and Gazprom  Grin

If you want peace, prepare for war.

So Orwellian of you! (Book 1984)

Russia know it better than most, being the target of countless invasions of varying degree of success, form and scale.

Let's see, there was Napoleon, the Crimean War invasion, WW1 Germany, WW2 Germany... I think I counted your countless invasions. Looks like four.

How about the countless invasions of other places by Russia? 1792 invasion of Poland, 1809 invasion of Sweden, 1808 invasion of Swedish Finland, 1809 invasion of Sweden, 1853 invasion of Moldavia and Wallachia, 1855 invasion of Ottoman Turkey, 1877 invasion of Ottoman Bulgaria, 1878 invasion of Ottoman Turkey, 1914 invasion of Germany, 1914 invasion of Galicia, 1919 invasion of Ukraine, 1920 invasion of Poland, 1939 invasion of Manchuria, 1939 invasion of Poland, 1939 invasion of Estonia, 1939 invasion of Latvia, 1939 invasion of Lithuania, 1939 invasion of Finland, 1944 invasion of Romania,1944 invasion of Albania, 1944 invasion of Yugoslavia, 1944 invasion of Bulgaria, 1945 invasion of Slovakia, 1945 invasion of Croatia, 1956 invasion of Hungary, 1968 invasion of Czechoslovakia, 1979 invasion of Afghanistan, 2008 invasion of Georgia, 2014 invasion of Crimea, and these are just the unilateral invasions, where Russia invaded by itself without any allies, and doesn't even count Russia's secret invasions if importing thugs and weapons to destabilize countries like it did in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Belarus, Spain, China, Korea, Vietnam, Zimbabwe, Cuba, Mozambique, Angola, Somalia, Egypt, Syria, Salvador, Nicaragua, Chile, Dominique, Nicaragua, and more recently Chechnya and Eastern Ukraine.

A bit more difficult to count that second list, huh? But that's typical Russian for you: take the bad thing that your country has done, and claim that it was actually done to your country by others.

Since when has the Azov battalion become an "independent" group? It is funded and sponsored by the 3rd richest man in Ukraine (the oligarch Igor Kolomoysky). Azov commanders take their orders directly from Kolomoysky, who is a close associate of Poroshenko. And yes.. they have neo-Nazis from all around the world, especially from countries such as Belgium and Sweden.

Wait wait wait. So you are telling me that a hardcore Jewish guy who is very pro-Israel.... is funding neo-Nazis? Who told you this, and why would you believe it?
