I will Agree on #XRP it has a lot going on with it and it has been talk of Sir Richard Brenson getting involed with it also not sure how true it is but never the less #XRP is always a good money maker

Probably because he's heavily invested in it!

https://bitconnect.co/bitcoin-news/434/japan-creates-bitlicense-and-becomes-a-legal-currency/
https://blog.indiesquare.me/the-new-bitcoin-regulation-in-japan-worse-than-the-bitlicense-e669618d69e0#.h74uhjvok

Japan's new Bit License coming into effect in March and already dubbed "worse than New York's Bit License".  Need $500,000 and spend $Millions in Japan to be approved.  IOUs and Tokens like CounterParty and Augur are banned.  There will be an approved list of cryptocurrencies and no indication yet if NEM will be on that list or not.

Man, this is not a good move for crypto in Japan.  Really a roadblock for both bitcoin and alts and hard to see the long-term affects of this.

For example, what does Zaif have to do to become complaint just to operate as an exchange?

It would be nice if anyone from the NEM team could chime in on how this may affect NEM's operations in Japan.

I don't think people understand the gravity of this decision.  Bit License applies to everything, not just exchanges.  Someone like Takao Asyama could be on the hook for paying $500,000 for BitGirls, $500,000 for Mijin and $500,000 for Zaif and then another $4,000,000+ for compliance.   Though I'm thinking creative accounting can be done, by putting everything under Tech Bureau, to reduce it down to $500,000 but still.

Question is can Japan's Blockchain Consortium (BCCC) even put together $500,000 to get a license too?  Who will be donating that money to keep it going?  Usually those kind of organizations crumble like an old cookiee when freeloader syndrome kicks in.   A bit more extreme but remember when R3 started holding their hand out for money and then people just starting leaving in droves.

I think Japan has to be careful.
But basically with the price that high, perhaps they are hoping to shut down all cryptocurrencies?
Will wait and see.
Would be a very hard thing to try and enforce, it will just make its use go underground.

Who even paid the $500,000 for butcoin to be "licensed"?

“Only approved virtual currencies by the authority are considered legitimate and can be traded, sold or promoted to the public,” according to the letter of the law. So, in short, if they haven’t heard of your coin before, you are not getting approved.

Good news .. this  ll make nem even more legit.
since nem is well established in japan...NEM COMPANIES LIKE
.HITASHI MINJIN AND OTHER  HAVE ENOUGH RESOURCES TO GET THE LICENSE.

bad news for small startup .

Yes I agree, we are in a good position to get licenced, but hard for the small players to try and enter, bit unfair to those, but in saying that, hopefully it will put an end to all the shitcoins out there, in Japan anyway.

What to do with the silver portion is another topic of discussion, but burning away will not make any significant difference to the value of XEM in the long term for sure.

If we look at an optimistic long term value of 15c, that 200m is only a drop in the ocean. Won't make any difference that will make it go down by even 20%. If it does, blame it on market volatility.

And by the time it reaches 15c many of you will be quite rich, especially those who believe in this project and have been patiently collecting. They deserve it anyway. Likewise, for those who are working hard to put value in the project.

As far as I know, silver coins were planned for early adopters. It's ok buy why not giving the coins an additional marketing function and sell it outside the NEM-circle to achieve more publicity for NEM.
(my idea: 1ounce .999 silver, 24k goldplated, for stakeholders, limited and unplated silver version for public sales???)
other marketing silver coin ideas welcome

Perhaps make them redeemable to all the original stakeholders first, and once the deadline finishes, make the unclaimed ones available to others new to XEM?

Would need to give a decent redemption period to avoid controversy.

Is there any updates with this coin?

Black halo looked so promsing, but have not heard much since.

I posted "interested" in a thread made by utopianfuture when the very idea of NEM was born -- that's how I got my stack. I agree, it seems like it just happened. NEM has gone very far since its birth and it seems to be doing well. A big thanks to the developers who maintain and nurture the core of the movement!

lol, you even got a better deal than me!
For anyone to say that XEM was not distributed fairly has been seriously mislead!

This topic became boring

I am a original stakeholder too, and i am against that silvercoin fund distributed between all/original stakeholders/non original stakeholders/anybody else.

send that coins to genesis acc and let's finally forget about them.

Don`t forget NEM is a serious project now, you cant change any terms without to exclude any legal aspect. By now, nem has still a prolem with original stakeholders which missed the distribution process. Changing one of the terms could harm NEM.

You both are right. Missed stakes should be treated as missed coins/money. If coins will be 'burned' then all XEMs will automatically gain value because there will be less XEMs on the market, so every XEM holder is on plus then. In case of 'distribution between stakeholders', people will have free opportunity to dump it on the market and gain 'free money'.
In first case all XEMs will gain on value, in second case only some of XEM holders will gain...

Im not against "burning" all the XEM from the missed stakes either.
Question is what to do with the silver coin fund? I think a community vote should make it fair decision.
431  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: February 05, 2017, 08:44:42 PM
... I think it's a good idea to distribute the silver/gold funds to the original stake holders we've waited long enough for them ....

I really don't see why original stakeholders should be pandered to in any way whatsoever. They've either blown it or reaped the rewards already. It would make NEM look like a closed shop to benefit a small inner circle. ...

Because when everyone else was laughing at NEM, we stood by.

Everyone had a chance to become an original stake holder, some even got in for free.

Besides those funds were voted on by the community at the time and everyone agreed to hold on to them in a community fund. We all threw BTC at NEM with the intention of having the original funds shared amongst the original investors, this is not a charity.

Now what each individual original stake holder decides to do with their share, is completely up to them.

Also, just because they are not vocal in the closed community that is BTCtalk does not mean those original stakeholders do not exist. Many of them just left it as a forgotten investment and are waiting news from the members who acted as their representatives on NEM ICO.

Yep. Well said, LemonAndFriesOne. I am one of the original stakeholders and I am still here. Waiting patiently. Watching NEM grows and following the news regularly. Since day 1. Do you realize how long ago that was? I'm here for long-term investments. Please, do not disregard the stakeholders that truly believe in NEM and have supported all these years.

Same here, I was here from day one, I bought my stake on the NXT asset exchange when they were listed. Boy it seems just like yesterday! lol

I must be one of them! I was told I was stupid for holding mine!

I think it's a good idea to distribute the silver/gold funds to the original stake holders we've waited long enough for them. we could use it to start up supernodes. I definately would start one. We were here from the beginning testing and trying out the kinks on the early versions. We're not goin nowhere
I along with other true believers want to see XEM (our NEM) succeed. So Let start a conversation about silver/gold funds be distributed to the original stake holders at least to those who can still pvovide their tokens. Thanks DEVS for the great work. Keep strong nembers Grin

I really don't see why original stakeholders should be pandered to in any way whatsoever. They've either blown it or reaped the rewards already. It would make NEM look like a closed shop to benefit a small inner circle. It would be like Satoshi handing out his stash to the handful of cpu miners while everyone else looks on in disgust.

If there is a gesture to be made with those funds then it should be an inclusive one.

Its a hard one, the funds were put aside for all the original stakeholders.
Thats what the silver coins were intended  for.

As others mention, its a waste of funds to share it around all those accounts, when many are dead.
Perhaps a more fair way would be to lower the amount of XEM needed to run a supernode to the original amount of 1 stake of XEM and then put that fund into the pool of funds for supernode rewards?
434  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: February 04, 2017, 08:13:31 PM
Mmhh.... don´t forget the steakholders, they use the xem to support the network, test and use the wallet´s etc.  - .....I personally think, we should use 60 % of this XEM to invest in the future of nem - development, promotion(Fintech Exhibitions), etc.
.... that´s the best way for all nembers ( including steakholders  Smiley ) !

The other 40% = original steakholder (maybe a silver coin)

The other question is : "When"  Huh

Yes i agree!

Anyway with the silver coins, i couldn't care less anymore.

Am i disqualified as a result my recent sex change sweetie?

A ninja distribution of the fund to all original stakeholders with an announcement here would be nice. As you said, a lot are long gone which would be like a semi burn.

Not at all. I support your transition all the way but sadly one's interest in cryptocurrency gets lost in that hormonal swirl. Believe me, I know.

I think we're kind of past doing anything involving original stakeholders any more. It would be too messy and complex.

I think it would be very possible to distribute those funds to the original stakeholders, perhaps make a way for people to claim within a 12 month window, but for all those that dumped its pretty easy to see if any of the genesis accounts still contain funds.

I think the good idea behind this could be to generate more supernodes if sometime needed. With the extra fund every original stakeholder would be able to run one.

I kind of agree with this point.

I want to run a supernode and have now got a nice fibre connection.

I could have dumped my nem on each pump cycle and bought back cheaper, but rather than be greedy and speculate, I was looking long term, yes I could have got enough to run a node (or even several nodes), but I didnt want to take that risk and ive been holding from day one, like a few have going by looking at the genesis block.

Now with the price XEM is currently, its so ironic that I cant afford to buy the difference needed to run a supernode.

If there is enough funds to distribute to each stakeholder, I think that is fair, but could be a cause of controversy, so would need full community agreement.

The dumpers have long since gone.

How would it be messy and complex? If the silver/gold coin thing dosnt go ahead just send out the fund to the original stake holders just as they did with genesis block

People who failed to redeem coming out of the woodwork again. People who don't have access to their stake address any more having a moan.

I don't think it sends a very forward looking message but I certainly wouldn't object all the same. Original stakeholders should be legends of the past.

Im an original stakeholder who claimed my stake and am here loyal from day #1.

Im not going anywhere either.

Dont think "legend" is the right term lol
438  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: February 03, 2017, 05:11:37 AM

Yes this is very telling ...

"We have converts from Ethereum and Bitcoin that were amazed at how easy it is to develop in NEM. For example, we put together a land title registry solution in less than five days, whereas we can see a competition who’d have an army of programmers to do similar things in months using the Bitcoin core technology. We also heard that this similar project would take 1 month to do in Ethereum."

Interesting. Now that I've been exposed to NEM, it might be a viable long term hold worth considering. ETH still does have much larger exposure, and even if NEM is superior in terms of ease of use, I still see a lot more projects being developed on ETH :p

I think the trend will change very soon Smiley

Help! Just checked CMC, now standing at $60M

I also see BTC has spiked this morning.
440  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: February 02, 2017, 09:47:45 PM
that would make NEMs market cap half that of bitcoin. not gunna happen - at least not anytime soon.

It is of course a pipe dream, but Bitcoin is pure speculation with a teensy bit of usage. It looks like NEM is taking the absolute opposite approach and the usage might lead to speculation.

On top of that Bitcoin's market cap is likely to be significantly higher by the time NEM really gets going. If ETH could get around 10% of Bitcoin's market cap while still being a buggy heap of shit that no one uses for anything actually useful then anything's possible when something proven with actual utility, and even some real live users, gets some headway going.

Hey if we reached $1 billion marketcap, I still would be happy! Cheesy

I think this is reasonable, considering what ETH achieved in marketcap.
