421  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: With gambling, it's probably easier to quit cold turkey on: December 10, 2023, 08:38:21 PM
Stopping gambling outright might help some folks with addiction issues, but going cold turkey isnt necessarily the best or most practical choice for all.  There is no one perfect way to beat a gambling problem that will work for everyone - different strokes for different folks, and all that.

Some people might find it easier to slowly cut back on how much they are gambling instead of just slamming on the brakes and  that could mean betting less money over time, playing less often or switching up the kinds of games they go for.  Taking baby steps might make it easier to deal with the nasty withdrawal stuff and lower the odds they will backslide. I think the best way to quit gambling is to find an approach that works for you individually, because every single person is different.
422  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is the absance of Bitcoin affect the crypto Industry? on: December 10, 2023, 08:20:26 PM
Id say Bitcoin is still a big deal.  Folks say it is gone the way of Windows or flip phones - important once, now old news.  But thats bunk.  Windows still runs a crapload of computers and what it did back in the day shaped computing big time.  Same with Bitcoin - it put crypto on the map and  theres lots of hot new cryptos making waves, but Bitcoin laid the tracks they all ride on, right?

Things keep evolving but you gotta respect the OG crypto that started it all.  Some folks are too quick to dismiss it just cause flashier options came along.
423  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: USDM to USDT on: December 10, 2023, 08:07:58 PM
This is my first time hearing about USDM, so I don't know if this is what the OP is talking about.
https://www.coingecko.com/en/coins/usd-mars#markets

If so, then I think you would probably advise you to stop using this stablecoin if possible, because it does not guarantee value compared to the fiat it wants to be tied to. And like @Husires, it's good advice to keep your stablecoins safer.

Hello

i am not sure about the mars on the end of the USDM for coingecko or not. Wether that makes a diff or not.  Or how it would exactlly work. I guess I would send the USDM from Multi to the USDM on coingecko, then re import it into pancake?  is importing into pancake the same as pasting a deposit. address?  I see there are several videos from google, on how to work with pancake

CoinGecko is just a data aggregator platform that gives information about various cryptocurrencies.  You dont send anything to CoinGeck, but you need to use an exchange, either decentralized (DEX) or centralized (CEX) to exchange your coins. On the other hand, PancakeSwap is a decentralized exchange (DEX) that operates on the Binance Smart Chain (BSC).

The first thing you need to do is definitely identify which token you are actually dealing with because the USDM ticker can mean several different tokens on different networks. You must identify the correct smart contract address.
424  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Air gapping on: December 09, 2023, 05:32:08 PM
Removed the WiFi card and Bluetooth. Format and reinstall the computer OS. That will let you to be 100% sure that your device is 100% not having malware.

I was thinking to remove the WiFi card and Bluetooth but my laptop Is inbuilt so If I want to remove this things i will have to unculple the laptop which might lead to damage.

A lot of older laptop models have WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity through modules that plug into the motherboard.  These things are usually pretty easy to get to if you pop off the access panel on the bottom.  If you can tell me the exact make and model of your laptop, I might be able to give you more specifics on how to remove that particular module.  Though if you're unsure about tackling this yourself, it wouldn't hurt to have an experienced technician help you out.  They'd know the best way to safely detach those parts without damaging anything.

If this could be possible it will be less stressful than the above option but how do I get a tails USB ?
Have anyone tried it before? To share the experience

You can download Tails OS and installation instructions for USB from their official website: https://tails.net/install/download/
Be sure to verify your download before using it.

I gotta say though, no software in the world can truly guarantee that your device is 100% air-gapped.  Your best bet is to just manually disable/remove the hardware if you really wanna go that route.
425  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: USDM to USDT on: December 09, 2023, 05:12:53 PM
Does anyone know a trustworthy exchange to convert USDM to USDT.
Can not do on trust wallet. Coinbase does not accept USDM. And Multi-banks exchange only sends USDM

I also never heard of Multi-banks exchange, but I found USDM/USDT crypto pair on DeGate DEX. Yo should check it out if it is the same token you are talking about. Compare contract addresses to be sure.

426  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: First winning can be a trap on: December 09, 2023, 05:03:07 PM
Yeah, what you are talking about is the classic gambler's fallacy.  The idea that if you win once, you got some kind of inside track or better odds for winning again.  But that aint how it works at all.  Each new bet, each roll of the dice or spin of the roulette wheel is totally independent from what came before.

Just because lady luck smiled on you last round doesnt mean she will be grinning at you next round too.  Yet so many hopeful souls fall into that trap, thinking they are on a hot streak or something, so they keep plunking their money down.  but the odds are still the same every time, no matter how you slice it.

The casinos and bookies absolutely love it when suckers believe in stuff like the gambler's fallacy.  Makes it easier to rake in all that sweet sweet cash.  So if you are just getting started gambling, keep your wits about you and don't buy into any supposed hot hands or lucky vibes.

Is it possible that a third party can start using the account?

Well, I suppose someone could start using your forum account if they got your username and password.  That might happen if you shared your credentials to someone or got tricked by one of those phishing scams.  It is possible alright.  But should you let other folks use your account? I dont think so.  These accounts feel personal, right? They are tied to one person.  Not like a business you pass on to your kids and  most folks here want their account to stay private.
428  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Less profit on: December 08, 2023, 09:12:49 PM
Investing carries risk, but we all hope for rewards.  Still, best to avoid fantasies of massive profits.  Slow and steady may win this race.

Thats why I prefer a long view - compounding modest returns over time suits me fine.  No interest in hopping onto the latest hot shitcoin.  I will pass on that rollercoaster, thanks.   Cheesy

Steady as she goes works well enough.  If I stick to reasonable expectations and dont get impatient I can slowly build my portfolio.  No guarantees, but a sensible plan improves the odds.
429  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How do you withdraw your cryptocurrency from an exchange to a bank account on: December 08, 2023, 08:45:37 PM
I feel for you having those crappy bank experiences.  Some of them act so sketchy about crypto,  and this can be frustrating. Have you given Revolut a shot? Last I checked they do stuff with cryptocurrency and operate in the UK and  might be worth looking into if the banks near you wont get with the times.
430  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Investing - DCA on: December 08, 2023, 07:46:44 PM
Thanks for your input - I do a fair bit of reading up on the alts and will likely invest a small % in the future, but I'd like to maximise the amount I invest in BTC to ensure I get a decent holding. I had ADA, XRP,XLM,DOGE,SHIB and a few others which totalled like £300 or so which I sold and purchased ETH (small gains).  I intended to invest weekly and split across my portfolio, but wasn't confident of the risk / reward etc..

I would suggest putting all your extra money into Bitcoin.  Since you are new to crypto, the more well-known BTC is a safer starting point than less proven track record of some altcoins.  But like with any investment, be sure to do your own research and maybe start small.  No matter what you decide, only invest what you can afford to lose.  Crypto tends to be volatile so approach with caution until you better understand the risks and potential rewards.

With this logic Stalker22 should get red tagged for impersonating a stalker.
With this logic KTChampions should get red tagged for impersonating a champion.

With such logic, suchmoon's feedback suits you well.  Wink

suchmoon    2023-11-01        Seems to have been dropped on the head a few times in early childhood. Troll or idiot or both.

This maybe sound harsh, but I want to know and learn about this system that's why I ask.

No, you dont. You just like trolling with your throw away alt account. However, if you have any normal questions about my feedback, please feel free to ask. I will be happy to answer them.
432  Economy / Reputation / Re: Nutildah's bounty cheaters & ban evaders thread on: December 08, 2023, 05:11:12 PM
Why this may have happened?:
I already told that I was new and didn't read any rules about forum and bounties. like do not edit the post, etc, etc.
so for quickly do it like a shortcut, I copied that scammer's post somewhere And posted in my post, then after finding out that I have posted another twitter link then I replaced it.
~

Your explanation makes no sense at all.  Even if we suppose that you copied someone else's application by mistake, the issue still remains where you copied that Twitter link since I cannot find it in that form anywhere. And then changing it to a made-up Twitter account is also confusing.  Using fictional accounts for Twitter and Facebook makes me scratch my head and  i would love to understand the thought process there.

Why did you use a non-existent Twitter and Facebook profiles?

433  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: User protection funds, Should more cex adopt this culture? on: December 06, 2023, 06:41:25 PM
It is definitely been a tough year for the big centralized crypto exchanges.  Between dealing with regulators breathing down their necks, the crazy volatility in crypto markets, and some high-profile hacks, these companies have had their hands full!

But one thing that really bugs users is the lack of transparency from some of these exchanges and  when something goes wrong with your account or a trade you can feel totally powerless getting any real help or answers from them.  And that doesnt exactly inspire confidence!

Security is clearly another huge issue plaguing the industry too.  The CEXs have gotta keep working to lock things down and protect user funds better.  Bitget's new protection fund seems like a good effort on that front.  But one fund isnt gonna be any kind of cure-all here.

The exchanges need to tackle the deeper problems undermining trust if they really want to assure users and give them confidence again.

Theres definitely still work left to do on that front!
434  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Mixing Services on: December 04, 2023, 08:35:06 PM
Look, I get why you asked, but this stuff is pretty sensitive in terms of privacy and security.  If I didnt know squat about locks, I shouldnt be telling folks how to secure their doors and  that make sense? Put yourself in their shoes.  If you used some privacy service and found out later the person behind it was clueless how would you feel? These coin mixing things are trying to hide trails.  I couldnt forgive myself if my newbie clumsiness undid all that for someone.

Friendly advice;  if you want to develop something, why not try something you are actually familiar with?
435  Economy / Economics / Re: Being rich = not looking at price tag on: December 04, 2023, 04:30:01 PM
Do expensive things always reflect their true value? No, I do not think so.
What something is worth is highly personal and depends on one's interests and means.  For example, someone obsessed with art can spend a small fortune on an original painting by a renowned artist, even if critics dont deem it a masterwork.  Those blessed with financial means, whether born into wealth or recent beneficiaries have the luxury of buying costly items on a whim.  Some may simply enjoy surrounding themselves with finer things  simply because they can.  Others employ extravagant possessions as status symbols to flaunt affluence and standing.  For them, emotion often overrides functionality where price tags are concerned.  But just because one can afford something doesnt intrinsically make it worthwhile.  Beauty, like value lies in the eye of the beholder and bank account of the buyer.
436  Economy / Reputation / Re: Is forum reputation enough to influence mixers? on: December 03, 2023, 10:36:34 PM
Since mixers will be soon be rejected on the forum due to the heat they are bringing from the government, do you think that the reputation of the forum and the rejection of these mixers from the forum will be enough to force them to change the way they mix their coins?

How do you think they can change the way they mix the coins? They dont have much of an option.  Mixing coins is their core business, and that part will never be able to comply with government requirements. Unless you think they should do some sort of KYC verification of their users or something?
437  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is the difference between a BTC Mixer and No KYC casino on: December 03, 2023, 08:41:54 PM
Mixers promote the privacy aspect, while casinos do not. But there is a bigger question around what truly separates mixers from other common ways people try to obscure their coin trails? I guess this ban caught many off guard which suggests the boundaries and distinctions around privacy versus illegality remain blurry here.  Ultimately, we lack clarity on what crosses the line or why this particular practice went too far when plenty of other obfuscation techniques persist.  It seems an area of crypto desperately needing thoughtful guidelines that protect privacy without enabling crime.
438  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Please help verify if this a fake crypto exchange website on: December 03, 2023, 08:11:05 PM
Hello, I am trying to figure out if this website mercadobitcoinaps.com is real or not.
~

Well, right off the bat, that domain name oughta raise some eyebrows.  No self-respecting exchange would slap together such a silly, meandering URL and  meanwhile scammers snatch up every cheap domain they can get their hands on if it is even tangentially related to a legit brand - in this case, Mercado Bitcoin.

And another telltale sign here is an exchange demanding upfront payment for some kind of penalty or fee or whatnot.  They could just deduct charges straight from a user's balance instead of hassling folks for more money.

So, definitely a scam. There is no doubt.
439  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What are the alternatives of mixers with the legalities? on: December 03, 2023, 07:42:56 PM
It's not a perfect method but a simple way to get rather anonymized coins is to use 2 exchanges not requiring KYC. You can send your BTCs to the first exchange, converting your Bitcoins into another cryptocurrency there and then sending those coins from this exchange to the other one. On the second exchange you can convert the altcoins into Bitcoin and withdraw those funds to a fresh new BTC address. Those BTCs won't be connected anymore to your former BTCs on the blockchain. You can also use LN to send Bitcoins through the Lightening Network from your wallet and then withdrawing them from a platform or a submarine swap provider to an address on-chain.

This could work to cover up where your coins are actually coming from, and it does not cost too much (based on the transaction fees you pay), but there are some drawbacks you should know about.  Pretty much every exchange, even the anonymous kinds keeps logs of stuff like your IP address and the wallet addresses from where you put money in or take it out.  So if someone was really determined to track you down, they could get the logs from both exchanges and connect the dots right back to you.

It'd simply be the pain in the ass of removing the software that's corrupted on the computer it was used on if I'm not mistaken?

Yeah, removing corrupted programs is a pain, but it is nothing compared to the nightmare of losing all your coins for good.  If that messed up software wiped out your wallet, leaving you with zero balance - now that would really suck! Thats like the worst case scenario when it comes to crypto fails.  Utter agony.  So while removing crappy corrupted stuff is annoying, be grateful it is not as bad as it could be.
