What sense does it make to sell 1 XMR today, if it could be $10 next year?

Plenty when it could also be .01 next year

In the first case you gain 2500%, in the second you lose 100%. I'd give about equal odds for both (with a possibility for the in-between result also). This makes it a very good +EV investment.

What's your best guess for when  1 XMR = $10 usd

I think that I can buy 1000 XMR for USD 10 next month lol

Nice! Are you in for a bet? You send me next month 1000 XMR and i send you 100 dollars.

rpietila speculate a bit about the near future. Not that you are the best price predictor Tongue but i would like to see what you do think. What the rest of you guys think?

I personally think that we are around the bottom. Maybe we have already seen it or it may be at 0.001.
However we dont have that great support right now. So while under 0.001 for me seems difficult it is far from unlikely.

I am seeing a few new members that seem to have joined and hashrate is going up for some reason.
Finally all time low ever for monero is 0.0002 when people traded OTC.

With some good news or a new service or a tiny marketing campaign or fail of competition coin i think 0.001 is secured.

P.S. Previous time i wrote in the forum that i dont see the coin going under a certain price it was 0.003  Tongue
443  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency (mandatory upgrade) on: December 08, 2014, 06:43:42 PM
Just to spread the good news... even though its not big news, its big to me.

I successfully have accumulated 1 XMR by mining with my own Xeon 771-775 sticker-hacked ebay-built rigs on monerohash... after having learned enough linux (or copy and pasting code into terminals... can't tell you how many times I've killed a program by ctrl-c'ing in a damn terminal... btw, thank you all you nice linux people for putting terminal code on the interwebs so I can just copy-paste.. or copy-shift-insert, as the case may be).

and then to see it pop up on my wallet as my client was catching up to the network.

very satisfying. Yay. My very first self-mined cryptocurrency.

now if I could only snipe some 750 ti's.

Welcome, though you're kind'a late...

In 2012 i decided to start mining bitcoins to support the network since i had already bought a few. So i built a nice computer with a nice GPU which was giving me 0.5 bitcoin a day. I think the price was around 8 dollars at the time. After mining for a few weeks i decided to sell the computer mostly because i couldnt stand the noise of the GPU fan Tongue After all i was gaining just a few dollars and i would need  a few months to get back my investment for the computer.

Now obviously i know that i shouldnt have sold that computer...

The problem is that serious old posters doesnt give a fuck that people are getting scammed by most altcoins for so much time.

Altcoins dont need regulation. They only need some serious members posting guidelines, thoughts, explaining etc to newbies. And it is up to them if they want to follow or not.

Personally i only want a damn 'ignore thread' button!
445  Other / Off-topic / Re: cryptocurrency addiction on: December 08, 2014, 05:42:01 PM
Yes OP i feel you. It wastes me too much time! On the other hand i have only won money so far and also got many skills i didnt had before so...

Still i want to manage to spend less time here...
446  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: -> Monero Community Hall of Fame <- on: December 08, 2014, 02:34:49 PM
I just sent 83 more XMR Smiley

I thank the team for being constantly here for the last 8 months solving countless bugs, creating many features and pretty much developing a coin the way a coin should be developed!
447  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Kingdom - 1991 Retro Virtual World(City) on: December 08, 2014, 12:09:13 AM
What I can say will look short on what this project is but lets say Im finding this game an interesting concept as an old-skool rpg fan myself Smiley

I find it extremely interesting too although i just cant start reading! Too many info! I am waiting for the online version and really you guys should make a video tutorial or something!

448  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency (mandatory upgrade) on: December 05, 2014, 07:38:20 PM
Even if we assume that 100% of the emission is being dumped every day thats like 20 BTC worth at current prices. Every day we have a volume bigger than that. Today its already 5 times bigger than that.

My explanation is that many people dump in order to rebuy a bit lower each time since they know that the general feeling is that price will continue to go down.

However there will come a point at which they wont be able to rebuy cheaper. Now if this point is 0.0011 or 0.001 or 0.0005 or 0.0001 i dont know...

Still, the only thing that monero really needs is more adoption. Monero has indeed far less supporters than Darkcoin or other shitcoins... So while dev team is working on things that has promised i think supporters must find more ways to make adoption more widespread. Only when adoption starts getting bigger we gonna see some serious stuff going on.

Illodin you can stop quoting Bitcoinexpress non-sense, as the account is bought by ex bbr community manager and supernet scammer Windjc.

People are often saying things as if they were facts when in fact (lol) they are not. Not saying this is the case in your case (lol), but if you could explain further why you think this way that would be great as I'm not up to speed with supernet scamming(?) and Windjc account purchasing.

First of all, why do YOU think what BCX says is a fact? Last time i checked he said he would have destroyed monero like 2  months ago. lol.
450  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GAP] Gapcoin - Prime Gap Search - New Math Algo - CPU / GPU - Zero Premine on: November 29, 2014, 05:05:48 PM
Well i took the initiative to post about Gapcoin in the first 8 altcoins forums. I hope it wont be regarded as spam. I just want to see more hashrate!

453  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [XPM] Ever heard of Prime Coin ? on: November 26, 2014, 10:21:55 PM
XPM is the first coin that I am aware of that actually solves real life problems with its mining algorithm

There's also RIC and GAP.

I have mined all three of them. Currently mining GAP and keeping an eye on RIC. I am always interested on PoW like those.

I would love to see the communities of such coins united somehow and breaking new records...
