841  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Cinni | PoS | No premine | No IPO on: June 13, 2014, 04:33:19 AM
My hope is that people understand the significance of the 100% true anon transfer feature that we are actively developing on the EM platform just released today.  100% true anonymity is something speculated to NOT be developed until 2015 or later.  This is a BIG DEAL.

Disagree, zerocash ETA is in 3-6 months.

They keep postponing 3 months every time the deadline looms around. It was supposed to be released end of last year, then beginning of this year, now end of this year. Now they changed projects from ZeroCoin to ZeroCash.
And even if they do, who cares, Cinni will have theirs in a few weeks tops.

Who cares if Cinni will have it in a few weeks tops? The are already coins out there with real anonymity and working for months now...

why is there a folder called bitmonero, monero sounds way fucking better.

the name of the coin is monero, it just inherited the bitmonero folder and bitmonerod.exe from the first version.

It will change soon.
843  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - Secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: June 12, 2014, 05:05:53 PM
This coin needs a GUI so bad. Id freaking pay the devs 10 grand to make one

You can send a few XMR to the GUI bounty and i guess you may speed things a bit...
844  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - Secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: June 12, 2014, 02:55:38 PM
Hey guys,

I installed the new 11 june win64 binaries(just copy pasted over my old ones, like I mostly do) and I try to start bitmonerod to sync the network, but it seems like it never syncs, and on top of that, it SRSLY hang my network bandwith, like 90%. what is wrong?

Can you pastebin the output from the daemon?
im sry u mean the .txt file? its mostly this"Sync data returned unknown top block: 81531 -> 81902" and keeps going on.... the real problem is it hangs my network! I was successfully using the last edition like 12 hours ago! and I cant find the old version of exe anymore because OP updated it... :/

That means it's catching up - it WILL use all the available bandwidth till its caught up, there's no rate-limiting on it.

Remember: Monero is still alpha-level software and is not ready for widespread use or in situations where bandwidth is limited. A lightweight SPV-style client will only happen in the future once we've made everything a lot more robust and stable and workable:)

I have been following monero since its launch. This bitmonerod behavior is not normal, after the update it got buged. I will let it update, but filling up an entire 30/2,5 vdsl line for some 12 hours worth of synching bytes is not normal. It is the first time the exe behaves like that. Plz do fix asap.

edit: apparently it synced, but leaving the bitmonerod open appears to have detrimental effect on the network, im not sure whether this was the case before.

Yep i have the same problem. If i run bitmonerod i cant do anything else on the internet...
845  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [MNT] MountCoin // Need help write here // We search a Developer on: June 12, 2014, 02:53:31 PM
so mountcoin dev is just a 15 years old kid. He is a clever kid i might say.But he needs a bit of work to make a simple pump and dump coin. His coins just died yesterday.

Thats a nice lesson for anyone wasting time, electricity, effort and money in retarded clones. They never are more than a shitcoin. it is just the hopes of the noobs that their coin will ever spike and that they will be there to sell...Invest your time, resources and money in something that is good indeed. Stop thinking that you missed the chance just because a coin already went up buy 10x. If it is good it will go another 10x and you will have supported a coin that worths the effort.

For presidentcoin, i have to say a friendly warning. You arent ready to make a coin that work. You are clever but you are still a kid. You just exposed your name, facebook, twitter, photos of your family everywhere on the internet. Hell we can see you neighberhood in those photos... Imagine what would happen if any of your fail coins ever reached an exchange and someone loses enough money because of you...

851  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - Secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: June 10, 2014, 10:54:18 PM
I have a strange issue with monero. May someone could explain me what did I or what could go wrong.

...

I checked the two tx at monerochain and arent there. Have you updated monero to at least version 0.8.8 ?

Now when i had the same problem what i did was to delete the blockchain and redownloaded it. Then i used an old backup of wallet. After it synced the coins where still in my wallet and were sent successfully.

But maybe wait for more replies...

A friend of mine made a simple experimental android widget.

Its v1.0 and not really tested except by me.

It shows:
Price in BTC from poloniex
Price in dollars from coinmarketcap
Volume in dollars from coinmarketcap.
Automatic refresh every 30mins and also refreshing by tapping it.

He will soon add total market cap and total coins. And when we are in more exchanges those too. There are some ideas for more features...

Right now its not on google play store but he will add it probably soon. Added.

If you are interested download it from here: https://mega.co.nz/#!T5gzDRhK!vbPYvTgFStsUEBZUHuI5-13xw2GCLr6vw1LSpDl0sFo

And please make feature requests or tell us about bugs.

Whats the lowest anyone ever bought a lot of XMR? (10,000+)

it was never cheap, the market cap on poloniex started at 800k, so about 0.00180. the IPO were getting it for 0.001 as far as i know. there may have been earlier buyers but as far as i know it was never dirt cheap and available to everybody. this coin is the only unique coin right now, easy 50m market cap.

what the hell are you talking about? There was no IPO. Trades started really cheaper than 0.001...

Overmedication because of the "free market" we all love here is a problem. Psychiatry is not the problem.

Re. Mintpal - for God's sake don't push for it going on there until there's a slick, user friendly GUI Wallet available for all platforms.

It will just kill the momentum - everyone will be tearing their hair out and venting all over the place on Reddit and Bitcointalk squabble threads.

Better work on the infrastructure until it's at least of a (crypto market) commercial quality, then go more public.

There are two thoughts on that. With mintpal the coin will be more known and those that are noobs and cant mine or create a wallet can invest easily before it gets too hard to mine and to pricey.

On the other hand i agree that a gui and some bugs fixes should be fixed before we hit mintpal. At least we need that wiki. Wasnt to be made today?

Last night I downloaded the Windows wallet and left it for 6 hours downloading the block chain.

It started at "56 Days behind" and ended up completing.

Then this morning, when I launch the daemon, it starts downloading all over again !! - 56 days behind.

Any ideas why this is happening ?

why dont you download the blockchain from the OP?
858  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [BCN] Bytecoin (CPU-mining, true anonymity) on: June 10, 2014, 10:18:38 AM
The problem is that the premining is soo big that they cant just sell it. There is not enough buy support to sell it...

It's only a problem for those wanting to sell 80%. Are you on the list?
Otherwise, it's a good sign because dump is not possible.

859  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [BCN] Bytecoin (CPU-mining, true anonymity) on: June 10, 2014, 10:10:22 AM
I, too, think that Monero is just a sad copy of ByteCoin (very poor name and branding, marketing fail during launch too IMO--I don't need to get into that discussion :p).  I also agree that in the end the amount of initial users of this coin doesn't really matter, especially since the coin is so cheap right now (hovering around 5 satoshis).  Such a small percentage of the world even owns the most popular crypto, bitcoin!  It would be so easy for a new bitcoin adopter to say the same thing about bitcoin, being 61% mined without their knowledge.  Fairness is subjective...

ducknote is a funny coin, I actually like it.  I know I just said Monero had a poor name, and some would say the same about ducknote...but I beg to differ.  I think the coin idea is funny in a sort of sarcastic way and the duck is neutral.  Fun experiment none-the-less...definitely open for some meme-age.  Plus, who said ducks aren't marketable?   "AAAFLLLAAAAC!!!"

I enjoy the mystery and seemingly true to its nature history of ByteCoin.  It's the real deal, and does not need hype *cough*DarkCoin.  I think a lot of Shibes have bought into DarkCoin, or so it seems by the nature of its community to some level.  I also am really interested in ducknote and I think that Monero, FantomCoin, QuazarCoin, and DarkCoin will not succeed in the long run.

Just my 2 QUACKS!  Wink

PS: CryptoNote block chains and charts: https://minergate.com/blockchain/bcn/blocks

bytecoin have every cool element to become top notch coin in the market ... it's only have 1 problem, premining, but also due the nature of true anonymity, blockchain analisys resistance, etc .. I think we'll never know who are the big stakes ... In my view that's why bytecoin is not bitcoin competidor, but complements it... my bet is that developers still holding the high stakes .. I don't know why ... if I have a big stake I would sell or give way now 1/2 of it while price is low to popularize and make better distribution, like ..as investing .. and hodl the other half for the time when the anonymous e-commerce will emerge to the general public ...

I'm really not very excited with bytecoins clones ... but they have some legit points made ... I have a name suggestion for the next clone though Cheesy

The problem is that the premining is soo big that they cant just sell it. There is not enough buy support to sell it...
