The eye thing is kind of awkward for me. Any reason you put it there? Looks clean though!
I agree about eye, made it less active for convenience. "M" crossed out or closes the eye (supervision). It represents the anonymity of transactions in the system. From simple to complex:) I like the no1

Because it is not a bitcoin clone and so it is not as easy to use it in an exchange. It needs some more skills. Also because people doesnt know it yet and havent asked many exchanges to add it. I guess we should start asking exchanges to add it... Finally it is so new that there int a GUI nor a pool yet for it...

Thank you. How will I know if its fully synced or track its progress?
when you open daemon it says how many blocks you need to download and it also says with green letters that you are sync. If not change the vocality of daemon by typing set_log 2

what is wrong? Error refresh failed: transaction extra parse error. Block received 0 thanks when did you download and from which link?

THank you guys,
I think I cannot download the blockchain in windows, when I enter the "refresh" command in wallet, all I get is: "refresh failed, deamon busy, Blocks received:0"
I also get yellow color in the deamon window.
Any ideas?
First you have to finish downloading the whole blockchain. You must be synced. Then open the wallet. If problem persists just close everything and try again. Sometimes its quite annoying. It may take 5-10 times closing and opening in order to work. Although i believe that if you let blockchain sync and open wallet a couple of minutes later you wont have a problem... P.S. You must close deamon with "exit" unless you want to download blockchain every time

Wow, every time it gets close to gaining, it just crashes out. Sorry but to many people want huge gains.. just not enough people backing it up for the ride : /
no worries. it is just daytrader scum making a quick 20%, they can't keep it down forever. so daytraders are scammers but when you guys mention huge volumes you dont realise its because of them right? Maybe you would like a coin or market where you just put some money and they give you back the money instantly with like 1500% profit. Sounds nice right?

What a waste, we could have been at 40k now if scumbags didn't sell their coins.
why didnt you sell? Waiting for more than 35% profit? That is called greed... Sold at 37k bought at 30k right now. I didn't know it would dump again like this ! I'm glad there are still people who think 40k is a high price. means I still have a few more weeks to build my position Since you havent already built your position means you also believe that

That was a clear steady panic sell. Not a dump. There were 50BTC worth of coins for so much time as a warning...What did you expect?

After a block is found there are many many messages declaring that
"block with id= "number" already exists."
Are those the so called orphans? Or just my bitmonerod declaring to other peers that this block has just been found? Or others declaring me that this block has been found?

I just wanted to give my respects to the dev of this coin.
BRAVO!
All those people investing in coins like these deserve to get scammed!

I'm trying to install Monero on a 1GB digitalocean VPS. I've followed all the instructions from here: http://monero.cc/getting-started#linux-tutorialWhen I try and run 'make' I get this error output which indicates that my VPS 'CPU you selected does not support x86-64 instruction set' Does that mean 1GB digitalocean has too weak a CPU to even experiment with? monero@Monero:~/boost_1_55_0$ cd bitmonero monero@Monero:~/boost_1_55_0/bitmonero$ mkdir build monero@Monero:~/boost_1_55_0/bitmonero$ make mkdir -p build/release cd build/release && cmake -D CMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=Release ../.. -- The C compiler identification is GNU 4.8.1 -- The CXX compiler identification is GNU 4.8.1 -- Check for working C compiler: /usr/bin/cc -- Check for working C compiler: /usr/bin/cc -- works -- Detecting C compiler ABI info -- Detecting C compiler ABI info - done -- Check for working CXX compiler: /usr/bin/c++ -- Check for working CXX compiler: /usr/bin/c++ -- works -- Detecting CXX compiler ABI info -- Detecting CXX compiler ABI info - done -- Boost version: 1.55.0 -- Found the following Boost libraries: -- system -- filesystem -- thread -- date_time -- chrono -- regex -- serialization -- atomic -- program_options -- Found Git: /usr/bin/git -- Found PythonInterp: /usr/bin/python (found version "2.7.5") -- Looking for include file pthread.h -- Looking for include file pthread.h - not found -- Could NOT find Threads (missing: Threads_FOUND) -- Configuring done -- Generating done -- Build files have been written to: /home/monero/boost_1_55_0/bitmonero/build/release cd build/release && make make[1]: Entering directory `/home/monero/boost_1_55_0/bitmonero/build/release' make[2]: Entering directory `/home/monero/boost_1_55_0/bitmonero/build/release' make[3]: Entering directory `/home/monero/boost_1_55_0/bitmonero/build/release' Scanning dependencies of target version make[3]: Leaving directory `/home/monero/boost_1_55_0/bitmonero/build/release' make[3]: Entering directory `/home/monero/boost_1_55_0/bitmonero/build/release' fatal: No names found, cannot describe anything. Probably you have to edit the makefile but i dont know what exackly it needs. tacotime had said before that this may help : CFLAGS=-march=corei7 or corei7avx . also CXXFLAGS I didnt test it cause difficulty went up fast so i didnt want to use DO...

In the windows wallet when I try to refresh I get: Error:Refresh failed: transaction extra parse error. Blocks received: 0 Bitmonerod is still mining and synchronized. I can't get any of the new blocks from bitmonerod to synchronize my wallet with the blockchain. When I replaced the wallet from a backup file refresh is working till it gets to some recent block and then it gives the same error, but Blocks received: 3200+. When a new wallet is created it gets 18194 blocks before giving the error. Is the linux situation the same? What about other windows users?
Same problem here. One of my machines has this error: Error: refresh failed: transaction extra parse error. Blocks received: 18194Created new wallet, same problem. Copied blockchain from another computer, same problem. Rebooted (its windows), same problem. I'm going to check out other computers now. Yes, all computers affected and the new one I just brought up a few minutes before this problem happened. Looks like a network issue. Sorry! This is my bug with merged mining. Please wait about an hour - I'll call TFT to fix this. Can you please explain how this happened?

Something is wrong. I can't get into my windows wallet anymore.
Error: refresh error: transaction extra parse error.
I got the same error in Linux a few minutes ago... I have a feeling that this is not good

Smooth makes solid points, but as I already argued upthread, nobody is willing to actually navigate the illegal/evil marketplaces on the deep web to check for BCN's presence.
If BCN is in fact used for black trade (snuff films, illegal pornography, etc.), how much of that do you think would really surface to bitcointalk?
Bytecoin is the result of careful production and has too much utility to simply be a premine scam. My personal opinion is that BCN is definitely used for something, but nobody will come out and say exactly what that is without taking great risk.
I have navigated and there is none. You would knewif it was. You wouldnt speculating... And why noone is willing to navigate deep web? Its not even illegal to browse... P.S. If BTC is in fact used for black trade (snuff films, illegal pornography, etc.), how much of that do you think would really surface to bitcointalk? On the news?
