461  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Someone just paid 83BTC for transaction fee, on: November 25, 2023, 06:57:53 PM
To the people who believe this was done to launder money: what money are you talking about? There is no concealing of financial activity, we can all view the transaction where he pays the miner 83 BTC. I'm not into the law, but isn't this counted the same as if he had sent him 83 BTC in a regular transaction?

Not the same. Since it was a transaction fee, it is difficult to prove whether there was intent or an accidental error. Therefore, it becomes legitimately earned money for the mining pool, regardless of where the money originally came from. Much like mobsters used casinos to launder money.
462  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Onekey wallet connect windows electrum app on: November 25, 2023, 06:24:30 PM

Any ideas to solve this problem?

It is hard to help when the question is broad. Maybe if you describe your problem in a little more detail someone might be able to help you.  Like whats the actual problem you hit when trying to hook up OneKey to Electrum? Did some error message pop up? and what steps you have taken to troubleshoot so far? The more information you share, the more likely we will find a solution to your problem.
463  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Doubt about non air-gapped HW on: November 25, 2023, 05:16:32 PM
...The big brands bring in security experts and use special hardware like secure elements to try and make sure nothing leaks out that shouldn't.
The security of hardware wallets mainly depends on the firmware.
~

While firmware plays a vital role in securing hardware wallets, it is not the only factor that matters.  Physical security, side-channel attacks, and other vulnerabilities can also compromise these devices.  Ultimately both hardware and software defenses are crucial - a flaw in either enables assets theft.
ographic operations can also unveil secrets and  no one vulnerability rules them all.

Rather, hardware and firmware security intertwine inextricably.  Though firmware drives functionality, physical tamper-resistance and side-channel protections remain critical.  Perhaps firmware deserves more weighting given its flexibility in updating vulnerabilities.  Yet a weak security modulus still renders firmware updates meaningless.
464  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Slot games are a waste of time and money (most of the time) on: November 24, 2023, 10:03:35 PM
Slots are unpredictable beasts.  Cheesy  I have had some crazy times with those.  Luck comes and goes, I guess thats gambling.  This one night sticks out where I just kept feeding the slots and nothing was happening and  down a decent bit of money and getting frustrated, I decide just a few more pulls.  Well, would you believe it - jackpot! Biggest one I have seen.  For a minute I felt on top of the world.  Then after the excitement wore off I realized I probably used all my luck up in one moment.  Havent played slots much since.  Moral is, walk away when you are ahead.
465  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Doubt about non air-gapped HW on: November 24, 2023, 09:32:54 PM
-How safe are these wallets that generate the seed while they are connected to the computer and online?
-Which of these wallets would you recommend?

Hardware wallets tend to have some pretty hardcore security stuff built-in to keep your keys and seed phrases locked down tight.  The big brands bring in security experts and use special hardware like secure elements to try and make sure nothing leaks out that shouldn't.

But you still gotta be real careful what wallet you get.  There are some smart security experts out there trying to poke holes in these things and figure out if seeds can spill; if they found something like that about a wallet company people would know and nobody would buy them.

When deciding on a wallet, it really comes down to your specific needs and the features you're looking for. You can find a solid overview of pretty much all the hardware wallets out there on this site: https://thebitcoinhole.com/hardware-wallets
466  Other / Meta / Re: These degenerates don't wanna quit.. is there a way out? on: November 24, 2023, 08:34:12 PM
Use a strong password.
Keep your email account safe.
Beware of phishing sites.
Do not share your credentials with anyone.
And, quit your bitching! No one will hack your account if you take enough care of your security.

Edit: signing a massage on my with my address?? Does that help?

Yes. It helps in case you lose access to your account for any reason.
467  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: coin memes don't have a project? Is it worth buying for the long term? on: November 23, 2023, 10:02:44 PM
~
Even though there is no clear project, many people are still interested in meme coin because they have increased by thousands of%.
Are meme coin worth buying in the long term?
What is your reason for buying meme coin?

On the surface, I get the appeal - who wouldnt want their $20 "MemeCoin" investment to suddenly be worth millions? But when you peel back the shiny hype and hopium, most of these things have all the staying power of a snow cone in July.

Look, Im not saying theres zero chance of striking gold with some ridiculous meme coin.  But putting any serious money into most of them is less investing and more flushing money down the slots and praying.  If you have some cash burning a hole in your pocket and dont mind rolling the dice, fine.  Just dont mortgage the house betting on PooPooPeePeeCoin making you a millionaire.  Odds are you will end up nothing to show but a vacant expression and a lot less money in your bank account.
468  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Weak or wise? on: November 23, 2023, 09:48:03 PM
~
Do you accept to be a weak trader or a wise trader when you exit a trade taking some profit, but not the entirety of what you want on your TP?

You know, getting out of a trade when you have made your target money instead of waiting around for the perfect trade thing isnt actually a bad move at all.  I do not think it means someones a weak trader or anything.  If you think about it, pulling some gains off the table shows you have got your head screwed on right when it comes to managing risk.  I mean, the markets can turn real fast so locking in those profits means you dont end up losing your shirt if things go south.  This game aint always about nailing the perfect trade anyway and  more like its about using your wits  to make the right calls.  So I would call that smarts, not weakness!
469  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is\will Bitcoin become unaffordable to use? on: November 23, 2023, 08:52:40 PM
But even a $5 fee to make a simple transaction seems high. Even if it was only $1 it would be high.
If Bitcoin is meant to be an alternative to fiat, wouldn't the fees need to be only a few tenths of a cent to make it an everyday currency to use?

I see what you mean about those transaction fees - they really can be annoying! But let me play devil's advocate for a sec.  Keeping Bitcoin's whole system secure and running actually takes a lot of power and work behind the scenes.  So even if a 5 buck fee feels high just to send some Bitcoin to your buddy or something, there is more to it than meets the eye. Bitcoin still stands as the most secure decentralized digital currency out there, but that heightened security comes with higher costs.  There are ways to cut transaction fees, sure, but using Bitcoin's main blockchain to buy a cup of coffee isnt the most practical route.
470  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Often Do You Check Your Seed Phrase. on: November 22, 2023, 08:48:36 PM
I understand that several thread has been created concerning the importance of keeping our seed phrase save but the question now is this, how often do you check your seed phrase?

I understand the temptation to frequently check one's seed phrase, given the warnings about keeping it secure.  However, in my view, constantly verifying it is often unnecessary.  If you are confident in your initial storage methods and there have been no changes to make you doubt that security revisiting the phrase frequently seems excessive.

Personally, I stored my phrase very carefully when I first created it.  Unless I have a specific reason to question whether it has been compromised, I dont feel the need to keep inspecting it.  Sure, checking it occasionally as a precaution is reasonable.  but doing so too often crosses over into paranoia in my opinion.

I am sure we all want to protect our assets.  But there is such a thing as going overboard.
471  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you believe in psychic betting? on: November 22, 2023, 08:38:27 PM
Haha, well those are definitely some pretty crazy stories about how people try to get gambling tips! I gotta say, I am more of a logical data-driven guy myself when it comes to placing bets.  Basing things off dreams or animals seems kinda out there to me.  But to each their own I guess! Folks have all kinds of different ways to try to get an edge.  At the end of the day, no strategy is perfect so maybe some of those wild tactics occasionally pay off for people.

Hi everyone can you share Useful Links for Beginners !  Kiss

By helping me you will help other people too
Thanks in advance

This board is actually a great resource for crypto newbies.  If you browse through the different threads here, there are tons of useful links people have already suggested.  We shouldnt need to keep repeating the same stuff over and over for each new person - take a little time, like 15 minutes, to explore what was already been posted.  Show some motivation to find answers yourself first before asking to be spoon-fed info.

473  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to see the whale transaction? on: November 20, 2023, 08:30:56 PM
How can I see the transactions?

Figuring out who the big players are with crypto takes some digging.  You have to poke around the explorer for whatever coin you want to track down the whale wallets.  Watch those addresses and see where the money is moving so you can get an idea of who the biggest fish are and then follow the money trail right to the crypto moguls.
474  Other / Meta / Re: What is this glitch? on: November 19, 2023, 05:44:36 PM
I am actually a little skeptical about downloading any extensions or apps that are directly related to Bitcoin Talk or wallets due to security reasons.

To be honest, I have not tried that extension the OP mentioned. It does not seem like it is even supported anymore anyway, so I probably will not end up using it. But you cannot judge all extensions equally. For instance, I have never had any issues with the BPIP extension. It was created by a respected member of the community, and lots of other users have tested it out too.
475  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Crypto terms used by profetionals on: November 19, 2023, 05:14:38 PM
What is?
~

I get that you might be new to this stuff, but asking for definitions of basic terms without trying to figure them out yourself first wont win you many friends here.  We have all had to put in the work as newbies.  Search engines and forum archives are your friends - use them before asking others to explain everything.

I dont mean to be harsh.  But taking some initiative to educate yourself shows you respect people's time and  post thoughtful, specific questions after doing your own research.  That is the best way to get helpful answers from this community of experienced people.  We have all been where you are. But with a little grit and patience on your end, you will get there too.

Where do wrongly transferred bitcoin goes ? if mistakenly sent to a wrong address can it be recovered? If it lost does it add any value to bitcoin price?

It goes to whatever address you sent it to. Unfortunately, it is usually not recoverable. The scarcity could theoretically drive the value up: fewer Bitcoins in the market mean a higher price, assuming demand is constant.

I came across a weird glitch. Can anybody explain what it is? Have any of you guys faced it before?
~

What kind of user scripts do you have running in your browser? This is not the usual forum layout that most users see. So it appears something might be messing up with the layout from your end.
477  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The people from Bitciontalk are a good company to keep. on: November 18, 2023, 08:49:58 PM
Being around other investors here has kept me excited about, for sure.  There is just this cool energy when you are with like-minded people. Their dedication can really push you when stuff gets difficult, and everyones combined knowledge helps make more solid choices and  I feel finding this place can totally change things for investors going it alone in the market.  It brings a sense of community and support that can be super valuable.
478  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The most important thing in a betting site on: November 17, 2023, 08:53:16 PM
When it comes to finding the right betting site for me, the most important things are definitely knowing I can trust them with my money, having confidence the games are not rigged, and being absolutely certain the odds are legit and fair across the board.  Of course fast payouts matter too - no one wants to wait forever to get their winnings! But for me it is really about being able to relax and enjoy the entire experience without any worries from the moment I sign up to the second the money hits my account after a withdrawal.  I want a smooth, seamless betting journey that gives me total peace of mind from start to finish.  At the end of the day, that sense of security and fairness is priceless in this industry.
479  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can a mega winner say no to public presentation? on: November 17, 2023, 08:38:34 PM
Yeah, I have seen the big celebrations for jackpot winners before.  It can be quite the spectacle, right?  About your questions - I think it really depends.  Some platforms might make you do publicity.  Others let you stay anon and low-key.  And getting extra money to do interviews and stuff? That wouldnt shock me and  its good advertising for the casino or website or whatever.  Just imagine if someone hit it big.  That gets more people to come try their luck.  So yeah, handing over some extra cash to show off and share the story makes sense.
480  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why are there fewer women Than men involved in Bitcoin? on: November 17, 2023, 07:48:00 PM
~
What could be responsible for this?

There is probably a bunch of reasons that more men end up in finance and tech compared to women.  Part of it is probably just because those areas have traditionally been more male-dominated, so it is kind of a cycle that is hard to break out of and  theres also definitely some social and cultural norms going on that kinda pushes ladies away from those kinds of jobs.  For example, in many cultures or families, there is this traditional expectation that the man is supposed to be in charge of the big money decisions.  And that can go beyond just the family and make women feel like maybe finance isnt for them.  Plus women not seeing a lot of other women in those fields or having the same opportunities probably has something to do with it too.  A lot of it is probably just perceptions and stereotypes about what kinds of careers are appropriate for women versus men.  So yeah, no single reason, but its an interesting thing to think about why we dont see more gender balance in certain industries.

Definitely room for improvement there!
