I am just here to publicly say... i barely know who Johnny Depp even is.  I have never seen of those dress up pirate movies.  I could not pick Amber Herd(?) out of a lineup, and I have no idea what the court case was about at all, other than someone shit in a bed.

I could not care less about that stuff, and I sort of think it's bread and circuses.

Seems like most folks liked the outcome.

I honestly think we are about to see the pendulum swing back from this post-modern madness we have come to where people are using emojis as their pronoun, and we have to "believe all women" etc.

In the US them coming to try to take the guns will probably be where the pendulum starts back over in fullness...

WHITE HOUSE TO CRAFT BITCOIN MINING POLICY ADDRESSING ENERGY USE: REPORT
The Biden administration is reportedly crafting policies intended to lower energy consumption and emissions from bitcoin mining.

https://bitcoinmagazine.com/business/white-house-to-reduce-bitcoin-energy-use-report

Oh gawd, what retarded bullshit is this going to be? crafted y the biggest joke administration of all of history, and y a bunch of wokeist ill  informed policy creators.... messing with something they have exactly zero understanding of.

Great.... this will be shitty af most likely.

It will be no less than an attack.  Bitcoin screws with the plan.  They need to hobble it.

It's cute they think they can.
483  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lightning Network Observer on: June 02, 2022, 12:41:22 PM
Shower thought. I saw this roulette game built on top of Lightning, https://lightning-roulette.com/

NO KYC, No registration required, No privacy-leak risks. It's just the casino, you, and the Lightning Network. It's like DirectBet, but off-chain. What if NO KYC services built directly on top were the value proposition of Lightning? Many people in the community don't like KYC, no? Would that help onboard more users?

One of my first channels I ever opened was to them! Wink  I don't play much just because I am not a great fan of -EV games...  But it's fun to dump a few sats at it from time to time.  But it is STILL open and has routed afew million SATS.  Not my busiest channel, but been up since 11/2019!

And yes.  If the lightning network can work, I believe we will see non-KYC types of services a major driver.

Well would ya look at that?!?  I am having dinner tonight!

I was thinking a poker game that is 100% lightning would be cool...  My original thought was all the hands would literally pay out to lightning addresses each time.  But I suppose that would never be foolproof.  Someone DID make one that works in a more standard fashion.

OK.  I missed my chance.  I was going to point out early this morning that this price action is very likely to be a rally in a bear market, and MAYBE a bear market bottom.

ALTHOUGH we will need to see uppity (as one wordy man calls it) with VOLUME eventually.  We did NOT see it this time, for example.

But on the flip side this debart also does NOT have the volume that would favor a bear.

That said... if we keep knocking on the floor, eventually we are gonna break it. Sad

Do not shoot the messenger....

https://youtu.be/Z0W9k-TNm28

Do not fucking @ me with some blah blah attack on Ted.... not interested..... just sharing for prosperity, info and interest.

Cruz is one of the most intelligent lawyers in congress.  He is my senator, and I have voted for him for years.  He figured out how Bitcoin would be a positive for (green) energy.

In the MIDDLE of the Covid debacle he filmed himself going to businesses that were suffering to support them, like a hair stylist.  This was the make the point that we should let the free market do it's thing and let people take the risks they want to and are comfortable with.

So having known him for a decade I am COMPLETELY NOT surprised that he gets bitcoin on a very deep level.  He also seems to be a bit of a maxi.  He does not talk a lot about "blockchain" or "defi" or whatever.

He is America's version of Bukele, I think.  Even better, in my opinion than Lummis.  Perhaps Lummis gets it on the same level, but Cruz communicates that well.

So all you lefty grumps can kiss my hind.  I am super proud of my Senator and will keep voting for him.  And I am NOT a right winger... I want people in government that want government to have LESS POWER.  He is one of them.  His love for Bitcoin PROVES that in my opinion.  I would vote for any democrat that shared that view.  (Tulsi Gabbard?)

That video was edited by an idiot.

OT: https://www.cnbc.com/2022/05/31/jim-cramer-charts-suggest-a-very-nice-summer-for-stocks.html

Everyone here knows that I fkn hate Jim Cramer...but here he is actually talking about Larry William's stonk market predictions. And Larry is actually pretty good with his market predictions.

Two takeaways:

1. Larry Williams is expecting a summer mega bull run in the stonk market that could last at least until September.

2. We know that the Bitcoin market is somewhat correlated with stonks right now, and in this case that could actually be a good thing. We might come roaring back into the lower $40k range, perhaps even higher into $50k-ish territory. It would also firmly signal that the bottom is in.

So a relief rally that is more than just a relief rally might actually float all boats, including Bitcoin.

Let's see how things play out.

I love bullish Torque.  Still apocalyptic, but with gainz! And I think your scenario as started is a strong possibility.

I have often doubted this trajectory as I believe the powers that be (whoever they are) have the ultimate goal of destroying the market.

But the light bulb that went on for me that supports this theory is there is more than one way to skin this cat.  It is easy to think of the destruction of the US financial system as a collapse.  A contraction.  An erasing of value from the ledgers.  But perhaps the way to this end looks more like Weimar than 1932.  That we might see them inflate the thing to the point of exploding rather than try to crash it.  In fact the explosion will be the crash.  And the advantage they will have is they will know when and where to go to avoid the destruction that this will ultimately bring.

Knowing WHEN that singular evaporation of value is coming is not something we can do... so we have to front run the evil fuckers to the exit door.

Lucky for us we built our own exit door.  And they hate it because they do not control it.  AND they are realizing they too will be forced to use it (in part).

So we get to sit here in the cheap seats as they progressively become the front row center to watch this tragic comedy unfold.

It's tempting to buy a little APPL or TSLA or something.. lol.  But nah...  yall have your fun... I will be over here waiting.

(oh.. and pardon me for interrupting all the shit slinging going on in here.  Tragedy of the commons...  WO is a great place where many interesting and bright minds come to mingle... was, and still is.  sort of.  It is also full of autistic shit slinging monkeys... I dunno may be I am one of those too...)

Ken Griffin (Citadel)  – Bitcoin /regulation and various

https://youtu.be/73IeQW_E10w

....another one bites the dust

That is a fucking boss fight.  He's almost as big as the government.  But nowhere near as big as the Fed.  Says he does not understand the intent of new regulation... that's odd.  He's almost certainly involved with creating it.  I hope there is honesty in what he says in that segment.  If so the west still has some little glimmers of hope.

https://www.nasdaq.com/articles/the-tokenization-of-the-world-starts-now
Everything is going to become tokenised imo...

I am personally here for it.

Would be nice if they could dismantle the stockmarket/shares as we know it today, remove all the middlemen and democratise access ....

It might be just a dream, but it would be a good imo.

....is this the same thing as BTC ? NO ! , I do not believe anyone thinks so, and I do not think anyone should be confused by the two. Only BTC is BTC, and only BTC can be taken seriously for doing what it does out of ALL of the cryptocurrencies... it has won the race, and likely that will never change, least not for a long long long time.

.... will this "tokenisation of everything" look like "shitcoins" today ? I hope not.

..... a man can dream.

.... things do not stay the same...... just think, once upon a time, BTC did not even exist.....now look at it.

.... I personally hope to see , what we now call "shitcoins" to flourish, to innovate, and to fix problems that exists in the world... completely different problems that BTC solves, and has no intention of solving. (like replacing the stock market, this is not something that "BTC solves" it does not want to solve, and it has nothing to do with BTC)

.....Rome was not built in a day.

I think the most straightforward way for this to happen in a trust minimized, or trust distributed fashion is for it to be built on a Bitcoin sidechain.  Something like Liquid would be perfect.  It could be tweaked for more or less decentralization.  But I think one sort of new "bank" idea would be companies that develop and maintain BTC sidechains where tokens can be issued etc.

The tradeoffs are worth considering.  Do we need to most highly secure immutable chain for this?  No.

For example, if a company wanted to issue some sort of expiring coupon for good or services, or promotion, then once the promotion is done then all of that info could even be trashed.  If it was a fedarated sidechain that kind of database (blockchain) management would be handled by the fedaration, which would then collect a fee for the handling.  All this nonsense never touches the BTC chain, or at most puts a hash opf a transaction in an OP_RETURN.

An example where one may do that...  Title registration.  Want to record ownership of physical property on a blockchain?  Again a distributed layer two could be used  It would inherit the BTC security.  This could also be a fedarated chain.  Pehaps a group of title companies, banks and even governments.  We don'ty all need a copy of this, but it is good if it is distributed in a fashion that creates enough redundancy for it to be resilient to all sorts of problems.  And APIs could exist that query it from a WEB interface or the like.  You could even have free/paid tiers of access as well as a way for the owner to prove ownership for free.

Honestly, we have two camps out there right now:

1.  Throw everything on ETH or Chainline, or BSV(omit) or whatever train wreck layer one people are dreaming up!   Tokenize all the things!! File storage on the blockchain!!!

2.  All of that is stupid!  The ONLY reason for a blockchain is bitcoin. Decentralization HAS to be a wide as possible!  Blocks should be smaller!  Etc.

Both camps miss the point.  BITCOIN will back all of this.  But we can shovel all the garbage we do not need to have on the base layer onto these sorts of things.  Also centralization to differing extents in different uses has tradeoffs that we likely WANT.  For example the companies and governments involved can spend the money and resources to spin up these giant databases that we do not need everyone to have a copy of etc.

This is the reason why, when I played with Liquid I saw so much potential.  Back gets nuanced tradeoffs.  And he understands how to build a PRODUCT on top of Bitcoin while doing the least amount of footprint on the main chain, but gaining a lot of advantages.  Don't like their service?  Too expensive?  Too centralized?  Well find one that fits your needs better... Or build your own!

Anyway.  I think this is part of the "suddenly" we end up in sooner or later.  People will eventually stop playing stupid games on fat layer one chains, and start to realize the field is wide open for all kinds of layer 2 build.  When the product is understood it will become very compelling for the customers.

When I mine via p2pool using the monero gui wallet, how do I know when I actually mine something? Will it appear in the Transactions tab?

Yes.  P2pool will send you a transaction for every share you find.  It will be small amounts of Monero but there it will be in your transactions.

You can also see the shares you have found on this site (this is for the mini pool)

In summary, by using PayNym (BIP47) codes, your payouts will automatically be sent to a new address of your wallet every time. Enhancing privacy and minimizing hassle.

BIP47 is one of those no-brainer sorts of obvious improvements to Bitcoin privacy.

I cannot figure out why it's not integrated into every wallet and system ever. Ever.  Ever.

It does more to increase privacy and break chain analysis tools and is absolutely compatible with the current chain, and all future ones, it is optional etc etc.

For the life of me I can;t figure why no one cares.   Perhaps it's just because it is not a Bitcoin address per se, but a pointer to a series of them.  Therefore it has to be implemented in all the wallets etc by choice.  But I personally think it should be used as much as possible.  Here... send old caps some sats! On the other hand, I guess it is time to sell all the bitcoin:

Some of you may remember that a few months ago I invested into Bitcoin heavily at the price of $36,850 per Bitcoin and was quite positive about the outcome. I am sad to say that the last few weeks have been difficult with the price of Bitcoin going down by a lot. I am still optimistic that Bitcoin will recover but seeing the price going down each day is a big contributor to my mood every day. I try not to look at the price but when I have invested this much money into btc it is hard to not look at the price. My wife has been great during these times and she has been the one person keeping me getting up every day. I read comments in this topic and most are positive and give me a bit of hope. I have not sold any of my Bitcoin yet and I do not intend to. My original goal was to keep it in until I could retire on it which I am prolly seen as a older gentlemen so it is not to far fetched but I was certain at the time I invested at the right time and now I am looking at a big drop and feeling the effects of that. I might stick around a bit and try and get involved in discussion a bit more then I have because I think most are positive and that could help.

Much respect.  And here is to having found a good wife, I did too.

Look.  No one but you can tell you what is right to do with your resources.  And nothing is more useless than the words of a random internet stranger... So here come some useless words!  WOO HOO!

It's a simple fucking equation.

If bitcoin does not fail, it is horribly undervalued. Never fear.  You made a good choice as long as you do not need those funds right away, or even in X years, where x=as long as you can hold.
495  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 25, 2022, 06:43:17 PM
It feels to me like we're back in an accumulation phase with this sideways movement.  I'd be extremely bullish but there are a few factors to consider.

1)  We are at the point in the cycle where another drop is to be expected.

2)  Mtgox coins are still hanging over the market's head.

3) Leveraged long positions on bitfinex are at an all time high meaning a lot of selling needs to take place to cover those positions.

Those are 3 factors that shouldn't be ignored by anyone looking to invest.  It is still quite likely that there's another big drop in store, even if the market is feeling particularly bullish.

#3 is the worst one...  I think we might be just about to see those things closed out one way or the other...

I had promised myself I was not come here to post for a while...  But this price action.

We REALLY need to see some volume right here with a decisive break above the top resistance.

I would give this a better chance of being a headfake before a big dump, but if we can see that volume come in?

Kind of a hail mary.

Somewhere between 30500 and 31 is the target...  I do not think we will see it.  But I would love to be wrong about that.  Maybe Klaus Schwab just keeled over on stage or something... c'mon corn! Wink

I'm starting to miss the old WO: fine dining reports (and dick pics haha NOT  Grin) by El Duderino, gentlemand and his humor, endless dramas of Bawb, even the retarded fucks like old nazi roach (are you reading this now, you old nazi prick?  Grin), mindrust and his confusion and short-sighted moves. LFC_Bitcoin's bullishness, lastofthev8s etc etc etc... even annoying trolls like gembitz (no thanks, just kiddin). Trains, rockets, hulks....  where are they? Just think about it: we'll reach 100k and beyond but things are not gonna be the same. People change, times change, we are getting divided by pandemics, wars etc. This old WO is lost, it's gone forever. Prolly nothing, just getting old and sentimental. No more Lambos, hookers and blow.  Cool

It so happens that I visited Biltema today in order to buy a lightbulb, and as usual I bought me some food, so here you go, a picture of my fine dining.

Always cherish the Biltema dinner pics.   So yeah... the old WO is still here I think...  I am probably personally adding more noise than signal.  That is something that can be corrected.

OK.

Bob.

Listen.

You've added enough shit to the ranch for now.  The drone fleet is big enough.  You need no more purple paint for the time being.  Enough selling for now!

Thanks!

On to the squiggly lines...  This little prickly bit?  Meaningful?  Headfake?  Doom to come?

I think it is a fairly easy thing to fortune-tell.  Bitcoin has to get back over 30k.  If it is rejected on the way up??  down we go.. 26ish?

Our beloved crazy bull Americanpgasus (katiecharms) has made a dire prediction.  I hope (s)he is wrong, of course.  But there is no doubt we are at a very interesting threshold in the market overall...

https://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/uv6f5v/crypto_has_never_existed_through_a_global/

I personally think if the world macro environment is indeed imploding, that although "crypto" stands to lose violently, I would not be surprised if Bitcoin does better than the average of assets at worst going down less than most other things.  And I think Monero could be a stand out in the rubble as well... but possibly to a lesser extent than BTC.

Fact is value will flee to places.  Gold, land, and to some extent Bitcoin.  Andaltcoin value ought to go away like a fire, I am afraid.

On the other hand Bitcoin (and therefor Monero) might see a rise because of the above...  hard to say.

Beloved?

Fuck that bitch manipulator.

It's apparently looking for a reentry it can pump and dump as is its modus operandi.

I get a kick out of herm.  But I take your point.  He was always full of shit, and it's sad he made so much money then she blew it all...  I honestly think this latest thing being posted is wrong.  It's a coinflip at the moment.

Honestly without AP and his overtly grandiose posts on here and on /r/Monero, I probably wouldn’t have stayed around and learned more about XMR (and Bitcoin for that matter) back in 2015. Whether you like her or not now, she has a way of thinking outside the ‘norm’ and is fun to read her posts. Would be happy to see her share her views on this thread again like the good ole days. Smiley

By the way, where is aminorex through all this? Haven’t seen him around in quite a while. Tongue

I believe he still posts a little on twitter now and then.

As to AP... I meant full of shit in a loving way (in case he ever comes here to read this. lol).
