5181  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread on: September 18, 2019, 10:01:40 PM
I was expecting lots of goals from the PSG - Madrid fixture, but I'm not so sure on that now, may just back the French side to grab all three points.

I was right that PSG would come away with the victory. And it was quite an impressive one, with notable absentees on both sides, Neymar, Mbappe, Cavani, Ramos, and the current balloon d'or holder Modric, all didn't feature in tonight's game.
There were lots of goals, although they all came from the home side, with Di Maria hurting his former employees.

I just don't understand why referee didn't gave penalty when Juve player touched ball with hand.

It's not a foul anytime the ball touches an outfield players hands, the rules are meant to be interpreted accordingly. In my opinion, that's was not a pen.
5182  Other / Meta / Re: Posts about things that belong in multiple places. Should there be a way to link on: September 18, 2019, 09:43:36 PM
Should there be an "approved standard" way for someone to post, a link from one board to another to say, "this is important here / but it's also important there go to this post to discuss more"

I don't know about an "approved standard", but put can manually include links of similar posts to yours which is in another thread, if you feel the discussions would be more appropriate there. This would redirect those who visit your board to the other.
But as you said;
I think that where I have it is better, but I do see the argument for having it under service discussion.

You feel your post is in the more appropriate section, then this would need the other user to redirect.
I doubt the moderators would take action on this, there are usually sufficient boards to cater for different kinds of posts
5183  Other / Meta / Re: On Post Bursting and Other Facets of the Term on: September 18, 2019, 04:51:15 PM
Post bursting is not a problem until they are on topic and making some relevant content to the discussion but likely others said most campaign managers against the post bursting since its kind of activity to finish the post quota to get rewards.

Somewhat, post bursting is not the problem, most campaign managers believe that you should take out your time to read a post before replying to it, majority of posts made already have discussions going on in the thread, so a user should take out time to read and ensure their contributions is relevant.

Same way we have a cool down time for merits awarding, searches and reports. All this measures prevents abuse of the system. (Or errors of double spending, in the case of merits).
5184  Other / Meta / Re: The future of Bitcointalk: Low Ranking Top Merit earners in the past 30 days on: September 18, 2019, 04:42:49 PM
So: here it is Smiley

Well, that waa quick and also a very impressive work.
It's also interesting to see users who have gotten positive trust despite the duration of time they have been registered for.

I can do weekly updates if desired.

I would surely desire to see that, I can not speak for other members though. Highlighting the exploits of good, low ranked posters seems like a good way to encourage them.
5185  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: France: We can't allow Facebook's Libra in Europe on: September 18, 2019, 08:45:16 AM
In the end, it all comes down to information. Information on individuals has become a very huge market since the turn of the millennium, and the more personal the information, the better.

With libra coin, Facebook cooperation would have lost of data on users (much more than they already do), and user privacy would be major concern. The government do not want this kind of data, except they are the ones controlling it.
5186  Other / Meta / Re: [TOP-200] Members who support newbies - Thanks! on: September 18, 2019, 08:18:31 AM
I agree with the second part of what you wrote, but I can't bring myself to lower my standards that much when it comes to low-ranked members.  While not all of them are spammers, I do think that the vast majority of their posts are of very low quality and are made primarily for bounties or signature campaigns, which has been the case for years now.

Only a handful of bounties accept newbies for signature campaigns and a much lesser number than that are worthwhile.
Imo, a user should at least get to member rank before engaging in signature campaigns. It should not take a committed poster too long to get the requirements.
I also generally lower my meriting standards when considering posts made by newbies.

Could I suggest that in addition to the list of member sho most support newbies, we could make a list of newbies who received the most merits in a month, or just the top receiver. This would help users looking for newbies to merits and would hasten the ranking up of deserving users.
5187  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread on: September 18, 2019, 07:45:43 AM
I don't usually play safe just like last night putting my money on over/under goals with low odds .. guess the result is that i lost them all .

The matches which promised lost of goals on paper last night, ended up disappointing, producing little or none.
That's the unpredictability of football.
Salzburg were the surprise package with 5 first half goals.

I was expecting lots of goals from the PSG - Madrid fixture, but I'm not so sure on that now, may just back the French side to grab all three points.
5188  Economy / Gambling / Re: BSpin.io | Bitcoin Casino | Instant deposits | Slots, Games and Lottery on: September 16, 2019, 07:22:23 AM
The minimum withdrawal is a little too high and I had to deposit bitcoins in to be able to pull the funds I had out. It looks like a strategy to encourage or coerce gamblers to reinvest their funds in order to grow their profits.

The zero coat of withdrawal is quite commendable and would encourage more visitors. This is a policy I hope most other sites can adopt.
5189  Other / Meta / Re: Is Satoshi dead? Will the inner-gang come forward? on: September 15, 2019, 05:40:32 PM
I'm theorizing that Satoshi was killed fairly recently (in the last 3 months).

We would have to reconsider what a theory is at this point. You would need to submit a little more relevant observations, for this to even be an educated guess.
5190  Other / Meta / Re: [REPORT] Fake Conversations Alerts on: September 15, 2019, 05:27:26 PM
If the scammer is posting some suspicious links then you can report him to the mods /he can even get banned for this/ but that's all.

Whether or not the scammer gets banned, any reply which contains suspicious links should be deleted on sight, or once the attention of a moderator is called upon, through reports. Cause AFAIK, the newbie warning sign is shown for only threads created by the accused user and not replies on other threads. This should be a measure to protect newbies in the forum.

A ban would be decided on the discretion of the moderator, considering the possibilities, such as the account being hacked or a user inadvertently promoting a malicious site.
5191  Economy / Economics / Re: INFLATION IN THE UNDERDEVELOPED COUNTRIES on: September 13, 2019, 08:49:41 PM
...and they make sure that they extract as much raw resources as possible from these countries and then refine or manufacture goods from this raw material and then sell that at inflated prices back to those countries. <This offsets the import and exports between 1st world and 3rd world countries>

A clear case of this, would be my nation Nigeria. Nigeria is one of the highest producers of crude oil in the world, and yet do not have the resources to refine the amount needed for the nation and definitely can not independently export to other nations, despite having discovered petroleum over half a century ago.

Developing countries would need to begin to act independently inorder to boost their economiiand livelihoods of it's citizenry.
5192  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: September 13, 2019, 08:09:46 PM
So in your opinion, is it likely that the current Coach will still survive? Because the problem is the Council with the club. If the problem is the Council, I don't understand to that extent. What I see is a coach who is unable to bring back Manchester United to compete with other big clubs in the EPL.

I didn't imply that he current coach will not be axed, it's very likely he would lose his job if Manchester United fail to achieve a minimum of 4th position this season or a league or cup trophy.
I was suggesting that at some point, the club needs to try fixing something else if constant rotation of managers and players is not getting the job done.
5193  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: More good news for Waves and... on: September 13, 2019, 07:47:26 PM
This do proves out that not all news related to partnerships or adoption or integration would give out significant positive impact on the said coin being involved on.

There are many dynamics to the decided value of a cryptocurrency. Demand and supply majorly determine the market value, and a things being equal, a positive news would increase demand for a certain product, however, this is not always the case.
5194  Other / Meta / Re: [Suggestion] Troll Score on: September 13, 2019, 07:20:36 PM
What defines trolling, and is it against the forum rules? This would be key questions to answer before the administrators consider implementing your suggestion.
The bump score is meant to reduce bumps which are as a result of incentives, or a single user creating multiple accounts to give a thread more visibility (than it deserves)

I could be wrong in this case, but the trust score, could be useful to qualify the general interactions of a user (since flags are now exclusively for scams), be it positive, negative or neutral.
5195  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is utility token trading actually dead? on: September 13, 2019, 07:09:33 PM
Utility token should have a use case, and should be relevant in the functioning of the platform on which the project is built, this is the only way to ensure profits/revenue accrued in the business would be reflected in the price of the tokens.
But there are lots of nuances to the value of a cryptocurrency, and as stated above, speculation does play a huge role.
5196  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2019/20 on: September 13, 2019, 05:54:05 PM
...

I just checked the odds from some betting sites, and many have actually increased the odds of Barcelona winning that fixture, hence giving them a lower chance of winning the game.
This offers the other players a chance to prove themselves and we get to witness an example of Barcelona after Messi.
5197  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: September 13, 2019, 04:08:07 PM
If there are no developments at all for Manchester United until the end of this season. Change of coach will occur in Manchester United. solskjaer Many have bought players on the transfer last summer and it did not have a positive impact on Manchester untied.

They have tried four different managers since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson, and at least two of the were world class managers. They have also spent lots of money on the pitch acquiring talents and boosting their squads.

The problem may not be the managers or players, the team may be to try a change in management. The board could be the problem with the club.
5198  Other / Meta / Re: How can we protect Newbies from getting scammed? on: September 13, 2019, 03:59:50 PM
The forum should do more to protect the space and new members

The forum is already doing a lot to protect newbies from scammers, but it is important to note that not all newbies on the forum are new to the cryptocurrency space i.e. they may not be complete novices.
It's almost impossible to fully protect the public from getting scammed.

When getting into Bitcoin, and when one has actually purchased or earned some bitcoins, they should be able to protect themselves from some basic scam attempts.

I'd still like to see that welcome message implemented, to see how much it improves the firumy
5199  Economy / Economics / Re: Advice on how best to protect your capital on: September 13, 2019, 06:29:01 AM
Moreover, many hackers are currently getting smarter in committing fraud and traps.

Just like malwares and viruses are getting updated regularly, and we have to also do same to our device protection apps. That's the same way we have to regularly be on the lookout. Scammers regularly change their strategies. As a long term investor or a trader always be up to date with the happening around the cryptocurrency space

P.S; I'd be locking this thread now, as it seems to have run it's course. Thanks to all for the advices and suggestions.
5200  Other / Meta / Re: Make your topic title, posts more attractive on: September 13, 2019, 06:22:48 AM
If one is lazy enough to ignore that thread, s/he will be lazy enough to ignore another pinned thread if there is a special thread for Topic title style guide.

I totally missed it on that thread, although I have seen the post quite a long time ago on the actual board it was posted in.

I also have a feeling like only good posters care about their topic title.

Some others care, but in the wrong way, some use it as click bait to attract other members to view their project's information offering bogus promises, while some use it to attract users tk their threads (possibly for merit gains).
