521  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why most gamblers can never hold onto big bag? on: April 25, 2020, 08:31:29 PM
How come he lost everything one day? Do most of the gamblers lose money in such way?
The thing with most gamblers is that when the funds are less, they go with small amounts, takes less risks and when the funds are big, they go for high rolls and take more risks. While playing high risk rolls, either they manage to win big in a day or go bust in a day. If you take crash game for an example, some gamblers won't risk too much and cash out around 2x while some go for 30x , 50x etc. I guess your friend falls under the second category of players who goes for the high risk rewards while you fall under the first category.
522  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Buying btc from a forum member on: April 25, 2020, 02:06:19 PM
Why don't you buy through some particular exchange instead of any member? Nowadays you can find many reputed exchanges are there in the market like Binance, hitbtc, CoinSwitch, Kucoin, etc. It is always good to invest your money through some trusted exchange rather than a human being. Be cautious and happy trading:)
The exchanges suggested by you might require KYC to purchase substantial amounts. That's why it's better to go for P2P deals with trusted users or use non-custodial exchange like localcryptos.com.

OP, if you planning to purchase substantial amounts of Bitcoin from the said user, it's better to use a trusted Escrow as suggested by others. If not, you should try localcryptos.com/. It's a noncustodial P2P exchange, without the need for KYC. And yeah sellers accept PayPal and other payment methods.
523  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Project Covid-19 : An approch to support the community members on: April 25, 2020, 11:33:58 AM
One thing I noticed, this middle class people who do not have enough savings, never lived in the poverty level or below poverty level, never needed to ask for money because they had/have a decent job but now some of them are in such position that they do not have a job, did not get salary for last two months, their employer is not telling them about the future of their current job and all shit. These people are in deep trouble but these same group of people are too shy to ask financial help from others too. They will not eat for two days but is not going to ask money from you. I discovered it in person.
What you said here is 100% true. A few years back, when I was still in college, we were in the same situation when we had a financial crisis but was too shy to ask for help from friends and family members. We would skip a lunch or dinner for over 3 months until we were able to sell our property and settle the debts.

With the current pandemic situation, many middle and daily workers are suffering without food and other basic needs. While many (including me) gamble away money in gambling sites, there is nothing wrong here, but I think someone who is financially healthy should help those in need at the time of crisis like these.  Personally, I with my the help of my superiors have been helping some of the affected during our field inspection times here in Chennai, India. So, I have sent some sats to you and irfan_pak to help the case.

526  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Has this period killed your desire or exited it on: April 23, 2020, 01:27:55 PM
I am not a gambling addict, but Sports betting, betting on Cricket to be exact, was always my first preference when it comes to gambling. So, if you are asking whether I am ok with not being able to bet on my favourite sport, yeah I can live with it, not a big deal. With the lack of sports betting, I nowadays play dice or card games. But if you are asking whether I am ok with not being able to watch the sport ever again because of the pandemic, No, I am not OK. Nothing is normal in the current pandemic situation. I really wish everything to gets back to normal again, especially everything that's entertaining including sports.
527  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Many cryptocurrencies — how important is that for you in casinos? on: April 23, 2020, 01:14:07 PM
Still playing with bitcoins? Or have you switched to TRON or Ripple?
I prefer playing in Bitcoin most of the time. But if I am moving funds directly from an exchange I'll use Doge to reduce the withdrawal fees. I wouldn't switch to TRX or XRP, as TRX is a self-admitted shitcoin and XRP is centralised shit.

Anyway, every crypto has its own benefits but how important is it for you to have a variety of different cryptos to play in casinos?
Personally, I don't care much about the availability of different altcoins in a gambling site. But, I think having different altcoins is good for the following reasons
- attract altcoin believers
- make very small bets
- reduce txn fees etc

Thanks for taking time to address my query, but I just couldn't find a way to verify the results from the generated SHA512 hash as https://blast.bcintegration.com/calculator/ page is not working. I'm getting '404 not found' error. I guess betnomi has to fix the probably fairness calculator page, so that I could check it  Smiley
Or just explain how the results are obtained from the hash.

Sorry for hijacking this thread with a bit offtopic query.
I could have asked it in their ANN thread, but it looks like most of you guys have been using SwC Poker for quite long for playing tournaments. So, I would like to know if the Android App is safe to be downloaded and used on my Mobile phone? Or you guys just play it in the browser?

For mobile, get Mycelium. I have used it numerous times and I absolutely love it.
-snip-

I wouldn't recommend Mycelium for iOS users. It's a total mess and the developers haven't updated it for long time. BRD wallet and Edge are some good alternatives.

I don't know about iOS, but Electrum is just good for both PC and Android Mobile Users. If you are using Mycelium in Android, you might face sync and other minor issues from time to time. This made me switch from Mycelium to Electrum on Mobile.
531  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is ETH decentralized? on: April 21, 2020, 04:36:40 PM
This is a good discussion why we should believe ethereum is not decentralized.

ethereum isn't decentralized and other myths

Thanks for sharing the article. After reading it, I am a bit convinced that I might be wrong in believing that Ethereum is decentralized. And yeah a switch towards PoS would worsen it further as it can easily be manipulated when compared to PoW.
532  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is ETH decentralized? on: April 21, 2020, 04:11:18 AM
I think Ethereum is decentralized, yeah Vitalik is influential so the majority of the community stood with him resulting in the forks ETH and ETC.

No offense, but you do realize that your statement is actually somewhat a contradiction right?
Yeah it sounds a bit contradictory. But I tried to mean is that only because the majority chose to be with Vitalik ETH is were it is now. Else, ETC would have been in its place. For example, Roger is not the creator of Bitcoin but he was a influential in the Bitcoin community, however the majority stood with BTC not BCH. I think you get what I tried to mean.
The reentrancy issue resulted in the DAO hack and the same issue resulted in the recent dForce hack. They should have fixed the bug instead of roll over but doesn't mean the network is centralised.
533  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is ETH decentralized? on: April 21, 2020, 03:47:39 AM
I think Ethereum is decentralized, yeah Vitalik is influential so but the majority of the community stood with him resulting in the forks ETH and ETC. My current opinion on ETH is that it is decentralised but buggy and the bugs need to be fixed. That's the main reason for the frequent attacks on smart contracts.
534  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Share] Biggest wins in online Casinos on: April 20, 2020, 06:59:59 PM
OP, another addition to the list
- 10.7 Mill Jackpot won this month - https://www.microgaming.co.uk/News/Microgamings-Mega-Moolah-awards-10-million-plus-euro-jackpot

But as some suggested, it would have been better if you compiled the list of the biggest crypto gambling site wins.
535  Other / Off-topic / Re: [POLL] Which browser do you use for bitcointalk? on: April 20, 2020, 05:31:33 PM
Firefox was my first preference and have been using it ever since I knew about the privacy issues of using Chrome. But since Q4 2019, I have been using Brave browser for my Mobile and Firefox for my Desktop. I enjoyed using Brave in my Mobile, but while using it on Desktop I got some lags, so I stayed with Firefox. Btw, I don't bother to use TOR or VPN and I never log out from my devices.
536  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Is DeFi really revolutionary? One attack after another. on: April 19, 2020, 06:28:47 AM
We all know that a few months back we had Flash loan attacks costing millions by exploiting bZx protocol. Now, looks like a DeFi protocol, dForce has lost over 99 percent ($25 Million) of its assets in an attack Saturday night.
More info: https://www.coindesk.com/attacker-drains-decentralized-protocol-dforce-of-25m-in-weekend-attack
So is DeFi really a revolutionary idea as some claim?
537  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns [Last update: 12-Apr-2020] on: April 19, 2020, 05:32:21 AM
The open slots in FortuneJack and Crypto-Games have been picked up. Now only Playbetr is open which will be filled by tomorrow and possibly we'll have an opening in Yolodice as Bitmover left for Crypto-Games. In my opinion, the OP shouldn't be updated for such small openings of popular campaigns, as they mostly get filled in a day or two.

Maybe if you start reading the pinned threads in each board before posting, you wouldn't be facing the current problems mentioned above.

Anyways, start with this - Newbies - Read before posting and How to earn Bitcoins - Part 1

Btw, you don't get paid here for each and every post you make as in cryptotalk, unless you are accepted in a campaign.

540  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: IPL Mutual Pool Discussion. on: April 18, 2020, 03:03:55 AM
According to the directives from the Home Ministry, India have been divided in to three zones. After the current lockdown is complete, indications are that the restrictions will be completely lifted in the green zone (which include districts such as Trivandrum, Shimoga, Aligarh, Gorakhpur, Bathinda, Nagaon.etc). Is it viable to schedule the IPL in these rural locations?

Do India have cricket stadiums of international standards in these rural areas which you mentioned ?  I never heard any international match which took place in those venues in India.

Oh, come on. Trivandrum is not a rural area. It might not be a metropolitan but it's definitely one of the best cities to live and work. And yeah Trivandrum has a stadium called University Stadium. Actually they are two adjoining stadiums belonging to the Kerala University, the oldest one which hosted few international matches in the 1980s is a bit small and no longer used for International sports. The new one was built with international standards in the year 2015 and have hosted a T20 and an ODI match as of now.
