521  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [PMC] Premine Coin | Rare | Mining Transaction Fee Proof of Concept on: June 19, 2014, 10:08:58 AM
Is PMP going to get a new thread once it's ready and live?

I'm not mining Cash any more, but I still have my stake. A few thousand coins.
523  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Reviving An Old Coin. on: June 16, 2014, 09:52:17 PM
Name some of the dead coins, you think that had (real) potential, but died.

Based on your answer, we then can discuss.

That's an oxymoron, no coins that had real potential died. Only the shitcoins died.

Is that strictly true? It's difficult now for any coin to get noticed, and there are many reasons a coin can lose favour.

The problem with me suggesting coins is that of course I will be completely biased. The point would be if enough people agreed a single coin was worthy of revival, then it should be revived.
524  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NXT under serious attack! Sell now! on: June 16, 2014, 05:39:11 PM
SELL!!!!!
Did you even read anything besides thread title?

Can you spot sarcasm, DubFX? Wink

Everyone knows you need six exclamation marks to show people you're being sarcastic.  Wink
525  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Reviving An Old Coin. on: June 16, 2014, 05:37:34 PM
What's the point of this?

What's the point of releasing a copy/paste coin, and having it mined, pumped, dumped and die off?

It seems people are only interested in new coins now. There are so many now it's difficult to keep track. What's the point of that?
526  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Reviving An Old Coin. on: June 16, 2014, 03:52:11 PM
Has anyone considered trying this?

So many coins out there which had potential that have fallen by the wayside, all in the name of the new "next big thing" to be released.

Collectively, I'm sure if enough members decided on one coin to revive, and focussed on it, it could be done. The coin would have to be old enough to essentially be dead and no longer listed on exchanges, with a fairly low difficulty and with as few coins as possible mined. Publicly available source in case a fork is ever needed. Little or zero premine, ideally, and enough members to work on promoting the coin.

A vote would be required to decide, with a large enough selection list to mitigate the chance of someone mining it in advance before a decision is made.

I think that would be the general criteria.

527  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [PMC] Premine Coin | Rare | Mining Transaction Fee Proof of Concept on: June 16, 2014, 02:05:35 PM
Is there an ETA on when the exchange of PMC to PMP will happen?

Do we also have concrete terms of the exchange rate?

1 for 1...

500k for exchange + 500k more for more givaway.... AND, Nullu, we need YOUR help with the giveaway...
Also all PMC will not be exchanged, I am sure of it. So after the exchange period is over ( there will be plenty of time )
We all will decide what to do with the remaining PMP in the exchange batch.... destroy? Foundation? Charity? Or even give those away as well...

I'll do what I can. I'm probably going to keep some of my original PMC, say 25%, and convert the rest.

Only destroy the PMP if it can be provably destroyed (like sent to an address black hole, which I know is feasible). Charity would be a good PR move, if we can get a charity on board to sing our praises about it.

2,555.102 EBT = $1 USD

WTF?  Is that correct?  Last time I checked it was around 5000 EBT per $

Hate missing buy opportunities.

To those who held when everyone else started dumping the moment it got listed on Poloniex;

Good call.

tx42 is correct. EBT has stability and consistency, and just as importantly, an active dev team who are continuing to improve the currency. I like the new changes to the coin, and I'm very interested to see what happens from here on out.

I honestly believe EBT has a great future.  The cryptocurrency market is so saturated with "the next big thing" pump and dump currency. Anything with a modicum of stability is worth holding on to.

Have the devs still got the premine? If so, they need to be got hold of so that can be handled by someone else within the community that can be trusted.

Design number 3 for me.

i just see not much people taking interest there Doesn't seem like a lot of people are jumping in... We'll see whether this takes off. Huh  Cry Cry

The coin is going through changes and adapting to the market. I hold a sizeable stake in the currency. If I didn't believe EBT had potential, I would have sold it long ago.
534  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Amazon and Cryptocurrency News (This changes EVERYTHING) on: June 02, 2014, 01:16:04 PM
It's a shame Bitcointalk isn't interested in coin publicity.

This is quite clever.
535  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [PMC] Premine Coin | Rare | Mining Transaction Fee Proof of Concept on: June 02, 2014, 12:14:07 PM
Since no one suggested anything and I got tired of waiting I whipped up a logo.

For reference, old logo:

Thoughts, suggestions, comments appreciated.

The problem I have with both of these logo's is that they don't work well for the small versions. There is no instant recognition. You have that with the BTC an LTC logo for example. That's why I like the mobile wallet logo.

Maybe you, or someone else, can make a logo which cointains both the 'phi', since it is easily recognizable, as well as the 'Premine' text, since it makes sure people know what it is about.

If we can't decide on it now, I think it is best to keep the current logo.

I agree. It needs to be simple yet stylish, so it works with smaller resolutions. It has to be professional, though.

Why not host a logo competition? We are giving away coins of PMC+, right? We can set up a small bounty and see what people come up with.
536  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] ★★ EBT Coin - Pure Proof of Stake - Critical update to 3.0.1! ★★ on: June 01, 2014, 11:29:08 AM
Coin seems alive to me Smiley

EBT is alive. Adoption of the security update is nearing 60%.

At about 75% adoption we'll make some announcements relating to the direction of EBT. As a preview, we can disclose that EBT holders will be among the first to experience some new in-wallet uses of cryptocurrencies.

EBT is under constant development and monitoring. We have been keeping close track of the performance of the block chain and of any threats. Currently, like most other coins, there may be some periodic attacks on the EBT network, but they have not significantly effected the block chain. The only evidence of attacks that we have at this point is some unusual variance of block times, although this variation may be from normal network activity. Currently, the mean block interval is 80 seconds, which is almost triple the target interval of 30 seconds, giving the team a small amount of concern.

The block interval has been high since the PoS switch, which was expected because of a minting rush from very mature coins followed by a vacuum of stake once these coins minted. The mean block interval has stabilized greatly in the last week or so, although it is not yet ideal. If the mean block interval does not stabilize to close to the target of 30 seconds soon (within 2 weeks), we will add additional block consistency checking and more tests for misbehaving peers, to reduce the opportunity for denial-of-service attacks.

Very glad to hear EBT is still going strong, which to me signals that when the cryptocurrency market finally picks up again, it'll be the coins with devs who stick with their cryptos that will come out on top.

I've been out of the cryptocurrency scene for a couple of months now, just due to a general lack of apathy with the amount of coins that are on the market now. Whatever coin is popular now will likely be dead in a month, so I've just given up hope on new coins. I should get myself a stash of a couple of X11 currencies, but other than that I've lost interest in mining.

what happened to creditcoin_CRD ?

He ran off but left the premine Grin

In all fairness to creditcoin_CRD, he stuck with Premine for a long time, despite when things were looking grim. Without him there wouldn't have been any PMC at all, so much respect to the guy. I hope he returns to contribute to the project someday.
538  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [RE-ANN][FCK] ★FCKBANKS REBORN ★(New Devs and team) ★ on: May 30, 2014, 07:48:42 PM
Although I have been a long time supporter of this coin and the new devs, the current situation with no news at all is simply not a positive development. A lot of people including myself have been putting countless hours into mining and keeping a pool available for others to mine, and at some point would love to see FCK moving somewhere, even if it's just a little bit at a time, but now it seems dead in the water. I don't want to sound dramatic but at some point someone has to decide what to do, take over, decide what algo to go for or leave it as it is, get the website done etc. etc...... anyone ?

It's a shame development has died. It is indeed a great coin. Perhaps someone should take the reigns to keep the fire burning.
539  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] ★★ EBT Coin - Pure Proof of Stake - Critical update to 3.0.1! ★★ on: May 30, 2014, 07:17:04 PM
Well, I've made over 20k in interest on my EBT after not opening my wallet for a couple of months.

Proof of Stake is definitely an advantageous way of mining if you're in it for the long haul, and have generally lost interest in mining in general.
540  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [PMC] Premine Coin | Rare | Mining Transaction Fee Proof of Concept on: May 29, 2014, 07:43:34 PM
I agree....  the so called 'airdrop' of the rest of the coins will not happen right away... and TheMightyX has come up with a tiered system to drop those coins anyway with will make it a longer process... I think Nullu shoud be in charge of the Airdrop..

Phase one is simply the offering of swapping PMC for PMC2 ( or what ever it is named )

This phase should be long enough to get the word out AND we need to destroy any remaining coins NOT swapped in...
( People like public destruction of coins for whatever reason )

Then after some time ( another month perhaps ) we start the second phase... which should/can last for 6 months
Also we should put a bunch into a faucet that can be hit daily etc etc.... that would be up to Nullu...

We could map the number of coins swapped out for PMC2 to an equal number earmarked for giveaway as well.. or not... there are a lot of possibilities...

I'd be happy to keep a proportion of the coins safe until the time comes to distribute them. As long as we have a well thought out plan on how it's all going to happen.

What went wrong with the initial distribution was too many coins were given to too few people too quickly. I like the idea of phases, and a well-thought out approach to distribution.

I think you and Kbroadfoot have shown yourselves to be pretty decent community members and I don't think anyone will have trouble trusting you guys with a portion of the funds.

I'd like to get the details hammered out today. I'm on IRC now, will leave it open and check back every so often.

I'm in IRC now. I'll be on the channel for a couple of hours.
