We're 5th now. Not far from 4th. Keep voting and we could be listed soon. Smiley

Diff going up up up.

Better get your fcks while you still can. When these are over 10 Satoshi each you'll wish you mined them right now.

Think prices are good now?

Wait until the next block halving.  Smiley

Looking at the exchanges...price of 0.0007 after yesterday dump at also 0.0002 is very good.

We have stability, we need popularity Smiley

Some people are obviously trying to drive down the price, but the coin is too rare to be pushed that low. The more it gets dumped the fewer overall weak hands there are. These people are going to be crying when the value rockets.

I remember a guy on these forums posting about how he dumped Litecoin for a few hundred dollars, and if he held on he'd have $80,000 or so worth.

I have more than enough other coins to play speculation games with. PMC is a long-term investment. Just look at how active our developer is. Look at how active the community is. Things are happening every week. Anything under 0.001 right now is laughable.

I guess it's always the case that some people don't know what they have until it's gone. I won't pity them when we see 0.01.

So this requires a hard fork?

If not, will PoS already start to work during PoW phase? (Since it's >20 days long)

No hard fork required. PoS is already in the coin as far as I'm aware. Minting may not start until after the block halvings. So 5 weeks from when Mint launched. I believe your coin still mature (age) until then, but the devs would need to clarify these other points.

PoS works by working out how old your coins are. The age resets when they move. Age starts from when the coins enter your wallet.

Coins that have matured will go into Stake in your wallet and you are effectively PoS mining with your stake. Think of it like a hashrate, but the block rewards depend on the size of the stake. After that those coins move back to your balance, their age is reset and it goes on like that. The more you mine now the more frequently you will mint due to the spread of different coin ages,
1266  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MINT]Mintcoin, Energy Saving Coin With a Fast Distribution *Wallet 1.3 on: February 20, 2014, 08:14:43 AM
So after the PoW phase, (3 weeks) then block reward is only 1 coin.  And then all PoS minting.  But to mint PoS you only need to turn on your wallet once every 20 days.  So who will be running the block chain (securing transactions) after PoW phase?

this is what i was wondering too.
i assume its still PoW from miners, but with no one mining (or very few) it would be very easy to 51%.

someone please correct if I'm wrong

PoS takes over as the dominant mining process, and as coins age at from the point they were mined, someone will always be minting somewhere to generate new network blocks. To 51% attack with PoS you'd need to hold 51% or more of all Mint,

I think I'll have a play on Wix this weekend. I actually learned HTML and CSS last year. Pity I found it so boring.  Cheesy

For PMC to really take off the dev(s) have to do a few things.  The first is to make the website look like this http://unobtanium.io/.  Also, highlight there's only 500,000 coins, 0% inflation, etc.

The biggest issues with all the coins mined now is that most all of them, like 98% will end of worthless because mining continues and all the miners dump the coins on the exchanges.  The difference with Premine is there will never be any more coins and there's only 500,000 of them.

These few key points really need to be highlighted on the main page.

Also, link the Window, Mac, Linux wallets on the main page, as well.

Other suggestions welcome.

That looks like a simple Wix.com website...and that's not a bad thing.  It looks very inviting.  Wix.com is really nice for the average person to design a nice functional website, IMO.

Yep. I agree website needs help. Any web devs out there?

If you liek money HMU.

Well before you pay for anything I'll take a look a Wix.com. Only pay if it's custom developed web code. Smiley

I also know a web dev. I'll have a chat with him.

I agree with pretty much everything you said. We need a slick website and we need to be shouting about the huge benefits PMC has over other coins. Thankfully we have a great developer who listens to the community, so we need to keep the ideas coming.

1271  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]TrollCoin A must have for every Troll! Come meet Doge's evil twin. Such Fat on: February 19, 2014, 11:52:54 PM
OK, so I've emailed about 20 exchanges as of today, bribing, offering handies, and about any other troll-esc activities I can to get us on an exchange. That being said, we need to boost this hash. If anyone has any suggestions I am open to ideas. I know you dedicated Trolls are happy with the low diff but in reality we will eventually just burn out.

That being said, we have several things in the works and plan on pressing on. Even though this is a TrollCoin, it is a legit TrollCoin, herpes. We'd love to really see it as a yang to the oh so powerful doges ying and have the Troll aspect to their oh so cute fluffy whatever the f that thing is.....so we need to press this and keep on keeping on. We need to crush that thing with a sledge hammer and stir fry it with some rice for dinner and put that dog out of it's misery. It is the Trolls time to shine.

I did suggest that the coin be promoted towards trolls; I'm not versed in trollonomics, so I don't know where they hang out these days, but if we want Trollcoin to be..well, in the hands of trolls, then to me it seems to make sense that we get a few hardened individuals to go spread the good word, so to speak, in those places trolls reside.

Under proverbial bridges and the like.

People "tip" one another for good deeds. I'm not sure tipping people for trolling is the smartest idea in the world, but at least it'd be fitting to the name.

Personally, I'd much rather some sort of Troll army that used its trolling abilities to poke fun at other altcoins. It could be a force for good by weeding out scamcoins and crapcoins and putting people on the right path of Trollcoin.

fck and bank card, is it just me or it doesn't fit together?

Perhaps not. It was just an idea.  Grin

It's not like you could use it at a bank. It would be cool to have a card with a QR code/wallet address on for real world exchanges though.

No, what you talking about?  this is awesome.  In canada you can use virtex to do debits with bitcoin/cash at an atm machine, or something to that effect, and this is perfect.  fck banks indeed.

In fact for my own web dev business card i have also used a bank card image with my contact on it, chip and all

Well there are plenty of online companies that can produce proper cards with embossing on and whatnot if we wanted to create some. If it wasn't too expensive, and if the devs could handle it, then we could do a group buy to cover the costs of getting them printed maybe.

We'd probably need a few hundred people at least to make it worthwhile, though. I still think it needs a QR code or something to that affect to have any future usability.

Unless it was more like a fancy paper wallet. You could do that in the style of cheques which anyone could print off.

Just me fooling around with a card template. I liked the idea of a fckbankscard. (Yes that is my wallet address) Cheesy

Pity we don't have QR codes. Be pretty nifty to print these onto card to keep in our wallets.  Smiley

I got the wallet working, but the official faucet kept giving me an error. I also probably didn't create a particularly strong password.

Any recommendations on what level of password strength/entropy are required for a sufficiently strong password?

I'm merely curious about NXT. I'd like to see what I could do with it. I actually know some Java but never really had any incentive to keep learning it.

subscribe to reddit.com/r/NXT and post in the tip-bot thread, and i will send you some NXT to start.

Very well. I'll create a more secure password and do that.  Smiley

Just need to finish up on some work and I'll get right on it.

Maybe we could collect some coins to sponsor some of the MadBitcoins shows?
http://www.youtube.com/user/madbitcoins

That would be cool, but he doesn't have a great many subscribers. Props to what he does, but it seems like an expensive way to reach a small audience. PMC shouldn't have to pay to be spoken about like that. It should be interesting enough on its own merits for to be talked about. I guess it depends on how much PMC we're talking. Anything over a couple of hundred would be too much.

Burden of proof is on the person making the claim, not those challenging it.

It is obvious that no one has any way of answering truthfully to my comments, so I deleted them. Carry on with your PONZI PYRAMID SCAM COIN. The value of 21BTC is a made up number to imply a value, that is why the "IPO" was not publicized.

I wasn't actually defending nor criticising your points. I was simply suggesting you back up your claims with sources.

The huge centralisation issues caused by some stakeholders holding an extremely large amount of NXT is a rather big concern. Other than that I know very little about NXT.
1279  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NXT ?? on: February 19, 2014, 10:27:45 PM
I heard about nxt just several days ago and get to know more about it.

The founders control over 51% of a POS coin. Sounds like centralization to me. The video they have on Vimeo, is clearly made by a 10 year old without proper spelling checks and they obviously did not want you to hear their voice.

Lol that's so much bullshit in one post...

Try to point out where I am wrong, show proof!

Burden of proof is on the person making the claim, not those challenging it.

moneysupply: 15 billion, reward halving again soon. Figure price will be at least 20 satoshi's in 2 weeks™

After next block halving range is likely to be 8 to 16 satoshi range. As supply reduces price is driven upwards. 100 satoshi potential within 5 weeks. I absolutely believe this likely by community support.

For that to happen sell walls will need to move up and buys will have to buy up the current walls. If it becomes rare enough I believe it could be possible. There's a lot of coins on the exchanges right now. One of the disadvantages of the speedy block halving until the minting process is that you need the distribution to be quick, however I believe the current prices are misleading, as this is what happens when a coin is released on exchanges early on; it gets dumped. It's true of any Cryptocurrency.

What people aren't taking into account is the scarcity principle. If enough people came along and bought up the current Mint with a few BTC, what do you think will happen to the price? It will go up. But it would then go straight back down. Why? Difficulty and coin generation.

But..

Once the block rewards reach 1 (or end entirely. I'm still not sure sure on this point), there will be no more huge influx of mined coins to dump, so the downward pressure on the price will decrease significantly, and with the increased scarcity, the value of holding mint due to the minting process, and the inability to crash the price as it increases due to an inability to mass dumping, it all adds up to a coin that looks worthless now, but I assure you it will not in a few weeks.

I feel loathe to explain this as I'm still mining as much Mint as I can before this happens, but I just wanted to explain exactly what's going to happen before it does happen. If only to say "I told you so".

Enjoy these early days.
