541  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: bloody market on: September 22, 2020, 07:38:22 AM
is the uniswap airdrop the reason for the bloody market as we can all see?? millions of dollars wer airdrops to over 80k ethereum addresses and more are still being given out for free..

will the market pickup anytime soon?? is it safe to buy ethereum at this price.. ?? or I wait ??

I don't think Uniswap airdrop had any effect on yesterday's crypto price drop. Even UNI makes the value of transactions in the crypto market increase because UNI transactions alone in 24 hours reach 2 billion dollars. Maybe yesterday's crypto price drop was due to negative news sentiment but I think it's temporary

The thing we are talking about is the price not the amount of transactions. Base on your statement, UNI has been doing a lot of transactions lately, it's plausible that a lot of people are exchanging their tokens to sell in different markets which in turn had an effect in the overall market of cryptocurrencies, especially Bitcoin. There's no doubt that UNI's airdrop have value and people, especially airdrop participants, are not going to miss this opportunity to profit big.
542  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When we think that crypto is being used by criminals to move tons of money on: September 22, 2020, 06:36:29 AM
There's no doubt that banks or fiats are still the number one thing that is being used for fraudulent activities. From the fact that banks are making a big profit because of this and allowing such activities, criminals tend to cling to this.

But we still can't deny that the use of cryptocurrencies are increasing when it comes to illegal things.
543  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Craig Wright To Face Trial on: September 22, 2020, 05:34:48 AM
To be honest, I don't really expect anything much about this trial since all the previous trials has proven that he can lie and extend this facade for a long time. He will probably find or forge another way to get away from the laws again.

Well, he owns at least $11 Billion in BTC as he claims. He could therefore afford to hire the best lawyers in town to take care of the cases. For him, he could spend his days doing what he loves, stress-free. Or does he own them? Either way, good luck to you, Satoshi. Grin

But fortunately enough, he doesn't own any of those coins lol.
544  Local / Altcoins (Pilipinas) / Re: Another Sad Story of Losing $80K worth of Crypto Because of Fake App on: September 22, 2020, 12:26:25 AM
Isang beterano sa crypto world ang nabiktima ng fake app. In his case,  he downloaded a fake version of Exodus wallet.

You cannot let your guard down talaga...grabe, no one is immune to the scammers kahit beterano ka pa.

How I Lost $80,000 Worth Of Ethereum In 2 Minutes

545  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 22 Bitcoin interesting facts on: September 21, 2020, 08:51:06 AM

9.If you lose your private key (Bitcoin wallet), you lose your Bitcoins.
You store your Bitcoins in a digital wallet. You can log in and check your balance. One thing, though, you have to be very careful when it comes to storing your password and key, which is what allows you to access your digital Bitcoin wallet. If you lose this access, you’ll lose access to your Bitcoin wallet and the amount you have inside.

It's thought that around 20% of the entire Bitcoin supply is 'lost', primarily due to misplaced or stolen keys, or laptops or computers that have been discarded.

This is one of the things that I don't like about Bitcoin. I think that a solution needs to be created for this situation. We should reach our wallets somehow when we accidentally lose our private key.

This key feature is essential to security and decentralization. It gives a sense of importance to the wallet which helps people/users reminded that their private key is a very important thing that they need to secure properly. I don't think it's a problem that should be given a solution. This is part of decentralization. It's not like users aren't given a choice. There are various ways to secure a private key like for example, writing it down, printing it, or if you are crazy enough, tattooing to your body (not recommended of course).

547  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Kraken becomes first exchange offically declared as a US bank on: September 21, 2020, 06:48:28 AM
Change is inevitable I guess. With banks implementing cryptocurrencies into their system, the level of adoption would surely rise especially that kraken is one of the most reputable exchange internationally. This also serves as a way to lessen the stereotype that cryptocurrency is a scam so I'm pretty excited on how this news will impact the future development of both banks and cryptocurrencies.
548  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: The bounty scam will gradually go away on: September 21, 2020, 04:16:55 AM
I doubt that scammers will let go of bounty scams because of how profitable and easy it is to them to do. Though I'm pretty happy that a lot of campaigns or projects are willing to pay BTC/ETH or reputable cryptocurrency now but only few do this. Nevertheless, It's still good to see it especially to those campaigns that actually pay in cryptocurrencies that we can sell any time, not useless tokens that doesn't have any value. I hope this continues though.
549  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why has no-one done a crypto Ebay? on: September 20, 2020, 12:50:54 PM
We might have near zero fee (assuming that the cryptocurrency used is not Bitcoin or ETH), but isn't this more dangerous that centralized platform? because we can't deny that even centralized are prone to fraudulent activities, what more if a decentralized and anonymous platform for ecommerce is created? decentralized ecommerce platform will be hard to implement to be honest.
550  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Etherum Fees Double In a Week As DeFi Heats Up on: September 20, 2020, 12:11:18 PM
I saw that some Dapps required more than 100USD fee to process a smart-contract transaction. This could be a huge problem for developers that start looking for alternatives - PolkaDOT, Tron or QuarkChain.

This is really alarming to be honest. just a few weeks back, I had to send 7 dollars worth of gas fee using Metamask and it really hit me hard. Though fees might peak sometimes, it's still a good thing that it seldom happens. As of now, it really subsided significantly $2-3 and I'm still hoping that it will lower more when hype is done.
551  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: [WARNING] Ponzi Website na may FALSE Endorsement ni Carlos Dominguez on: September 20, 2020, 10:39:30 AM
Actually last month pa ito pinag-usapan (reference: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5271276.0). So far, wala pa naman akong na encounter na ad patungkol sa website na ito kaya curious ako, saan mo nakita ang ad na ito or saang website mo ito nakita? Para maiwasan or at least maging aware ang mga kababayan natin.

552  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why government Don't kill btc? on: September 17, 2020, 03:54:57 AM
They can't do anything to Bitcoin. Even if they ban Bitcoin, there's still a chance that people would still use it secretly to transact. Also, why would they kill something that they would benefit from? just look at countries that is utilizing the potential of cryptocurrencies, they are taking advantage of the technology and because of it, it is helping their economy and their country grow.
553  Other / Archival / Re: Bitcoin’s Hash Rate Reaches New ATH on: September 15, 2020, 04:22:56 AM
Honestly, these metrics like hash rate, price etc shouldn't be the primary focus in my opinion. Adoption rate is the metric that matters the most if you ask me. If adoption rates rise over time, other metrics like hash rate, price etc will definitely rise with it.

However, the volatility factor is the main reason that adoption rates of crypto like BTC are still low currently which is why the volatility factor needs to go down over time.

Is it though? I don't think people are mainly focusing on hash rate since most people doesn't even mine at all. Though having this kind of topic is interesting. Having more hash rate means Bitcoin mining's still profitable resulting into more miners coming in and attacks nearly impossible to do.

555  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Changelly Big fees! BECARE! Don't use as their fees are horrible and insane! on: September 11, 2020, 11:52:20 AM
-snip

Man, I just used Kucoin exchange just now and they are only asking for 2.5 dollars and it's literally instant. I don't know why Changelly exchange is asking for 20 dollars because that is really absurd even for the current gas fee today.

I'd recommend OP to find a better exchange since there's a lot out there that is reputable enough and doesn't demand much.
556  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Another DeFi exit scam just made off with $20M in investor funds on: September 11, 2020, 11:38:32 AM
Now this is where it starts. Just like how the ICO hype was in 2017. People will keep investing into DeFi projects because its trending while scammers will take advantage of this and exit the market if they found the chance. This year really is becoming like 2017 minus the pandemic.
557  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: PLEASE HELP ME on: September 10, 2020, 07:40:29 AM
You will not be able to do anything about it except move all the assets you have to another wallet, because your wallet has been purely hacked by someone else because of your negligence in the past even though you don't remember who gave the key. your personal beforehand.

Alright, thanks for the advice.

Also remember that you have to be fast in moving your coins because the hacker might be watching it to see if you are going to send some eth gas into it. It's also possible that he has a program that automatically sends tokens to the hackers wallet if there's gas in the hacked wallet.

I don't know if you have valuable tokens in there but if there isn't then just completely make a new wallet and secure it properly.
558  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Polkadot is the Real Ethereum killer? on: September 09, 2020, 08:17:10 AM
Many have been called the Ethereum killer but they don't mean shit. I don't know why this suddenly moon this year even though it was created way back with Gavin Wood as the founder. The only thing I can see is that for a new coin (not project since this was created 3 years ago), it's too overpriced and overhyped because of the new denomination which makes this project 100x smaller compared last time making it have an unusually large marketcap.

I'm really expecting this to dump hard this coming months once people realize this.
559  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: China Can Reverse Bitcoin Transactions? on: September 09, 2020, 03:30:31 AM
Quote
“It’s not hard to imagine a dystopian future. A U.S. defense payment to an ally could be blocked or reversed”, says Larsen.

Does Larsen foresee a future in which the US government itself would be using Bitcoin?

It's most likely that he is saying that to scare newbies even further since a lot people have been imagining that the US might even use Bitcoin at some point in the future. A statement that is too absurd but people will eventually get tired of this anyway.
560  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETHEREUM 2. is not the solution of high gas fees on: September 08, 2020, 06:15:13 AM
Secondly, the Ethereum team should change their coding and algorithm which is very difficult.

So basically the solution is Ethereum 2.0 then? Because that's what they are doing right now which is still far from being done. Ethereum 2.0 will most likely takes years before it is implemented so I kind of agree that Ethereum 2.0 will not solve the current gas price but will help in the future. As a user, we could only wait for the gas price to subside as there's really no other solution to this.

Now please analyse by yourself and think what if the de-fi experts are right then there will be two solutions of this. One,  the upcoming projects can use any other network instead of Ethereum.

In this case, some projects are actually using Tron, Waves, and even NEO for launching their projects because they are faster and cheaper than ETH.
