541  Economy / Economics / Re: In your country, today is money the real root of all evil? on: February 04, 2023, 11:37:07 PM
As Dave Ramsey says, the money will make you more of what you already are. If depressed, you will become more depressed. If you are an alcoholic, guess what? But if you have a big good heart, you can even change the world. So it's not the money that's the problem, it's people's intentions and values that drive their actions with money.

I hiighly agree, it all depends on the heart of who is holding that money.  It is the person's intention on what to do with the money.  It was stated that it is the love for money that makes people wicked and do dirty things to acquire them.  Money is just a tool, the evil one is the person using that tool.

This is highly misunderstood verse from the Bible because people tends to cut phrases and forgot the lines before it or don't even bother to understand at all.

543  Economy / Speculation / Re: Enough? on: February 04, 2023, 10:16:47 PM
If you ask me, I can say that 0.1 BTC is not enough for me since my goal is to have at least 1 BTC in my wallet.  But still just like many replies here, it is up to you whether 0.1 BTC is enough or not.  If you will struggle after accumulating 0.1 BTC then I think better to stop when you fulfilled it first.  Look for an extra job and see if you will be good if you will start accumulating Bitcoin again.

@OP, you know that people's mind works in a way when a goal is achieved, another goal to surpass what is currently met will eventually form.  In the end, 0.1 BTC might be a starting amount for you and you might aim for more if fund is available.

548  Economy / Economics / Bitcoin Mining is Good for Environment on: January 26, 2023, 11:51:44 AM
I really like this video released by Altcoin Daily titled: Bitcoin Mining is Good for Environment.

It discussed on why Bitcoin mining is doing good in:

Global Scale (county by country)
US Scale (state by state)
In general (argument by argument0

It explain that Bitcoin mining is doing good in Global scale for the reasons:

1.  Bitcoin Mining is helping 1,600 families in the mountain of Malawi, Africa get cheaper hydroelectric energy.
2.  The Tecapa volcano in El Salvador produces more clean sustainable geothermal energy than the local community can use.  Mining Bitcoin with the extra energy helps lower the cost and balance the electrical grid.
3.  In Lebanon the local currency has lost more than 95% of its value, pensions are worthless, banks shutdown, and ATM are out of cash.  People are surviving by mining Bitcoin.
4.  Tepco, Japan's largest power company is mining Bitcoin - helping energy costs for consumers, increase profits, and decarbonize the energy grid.
5.  Mining Bitcoin enable a defunct hydroelectric plant go back in operation after 9 months of shutting down due to not generating profit.
6.  North Vancouver is set to become the first city in the world to be heated by Bitcoin mining.  Bitcoin mining to create heat for the city using sustainable energy and Bitcoin mining to lower the coist.
7.  Bitcoin is used to crowdsource solar panels in Zimbabwe.  1905 individuals across 95 countries funded the Nhimbe Fresh project, a grower of berries and vegetables made up of 250 small farmers and this is made possible thanks to Bitcoin.
8.  Exxon Mobile is using Bitcoin mining to reduce harmful emissions.

US scale

1.  Bitcoin mining is cleaning up toxic waste in this Pennsylvania town and saving taxpayers $5Billions
2.  Governor of New Hampshire recommends the Dept. of Energy to review how Bitcoin mining can help stabilize the electricity grid, build more sustainable generations project and lower costs for consumers.
3.  Governor of Texas says, Bitcoin is good for the power grid.  CEO of Texas' energy grid, Brad Jones explains Bitcoin is helping the energy grid and is driving more renewable into the system.
4.  A company want to build a massive solar project in Montana for cryptocurrency.
5.  Bitcoin mining saved the oldest hydroelectric energy in the US by being turned of forever.  Built in 1897, Mechanicville Hydroelectric plant could no longer to make a profit and was scheduled to shutdown but Bitcoin mining saved it.
6.  US house committee on Financial Services wrote a letter to the EPA, saying that digital asset and its related mining activities are essential to the economic futere  of the United States.

Arguments in general

1.  Bitcoin mining keeps room warm during the winter and lowering energy cost
2.  U.S. Congress testimony
3.  Bitcoin energy is renewable
4.  Bitcoin mining recycles harmful methane emissions into profit
5.  New research data shows the global Bitcoin mining industry produces less CO2 emission than computer games and holiday lights.
6.  Bitcoin is estimated to use 58.9% sustainable energy according to the latest date of BMC

It has been proven by data that Bitcoin mining is good for the environment, it helps the community and countries to even energy grid and lower the energy consumption.  In terms of global consumption, it is also proven by data that Bitcoin mining only uses 0.17% when compared to global total energy so it is somehow negligible.  So I think this information about Bitcoin mining using lots of energy from the global energy is all fallacy and myth.  I think this misconception are being spread out to bring FUD and destabilize Bitcoin economy.

549  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Errol Spence vs Keith Thurman on: January 23, 2023, 09:10:55 PM
I think there's no title that will be defended by Spence on their upcoming fight, right? Please feel freely to correct me if ever I'm wrong because to be honest, I'm really confused by their mandatory fight as their fight has been mandated to be fought at 154 lbs. where Spence has no belts. In addition, I'm under the impression that Thurman have no choice to agree because his time will be wasted if he won't be having any fight this time as his original mission is to chase some belts.

Since the fight is agreed on the higher weight Division, and not on the title's division, so yes there is no title defense which in contrast to the order released of the governing body of title defense.  I am still in confusion why does the fight like this happen in the higher division and why does the  boxing council accept this kind of arrangement when they are the one that ordered for that fight to happen.  Is boxing turning into a circus now? Where there is no rulings anymore and the boxer is freely able to decide the category to fight?

551  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cheat the Lottery Winner on: January 23, 2023, 08:52:21 PM
Quote
The DA’s office said the victim asked Argueta to claim the prize on his behalf to remain anonymous, promising $50,000 of the prize.

Argueta, who lived in Virginia at the time, agreed to claim the prize on the victim’s behalf and drove to New York to receive the winnings.

At the time, though, the New York State Gaming Commission was not accepting winning tickets in person, so Argueta mailed the ticket to the commission on Nov. 13, 202, instead.

Within weeks, Argueta reportedly went to deliver the NYS Lottery paperwork to her cousin, which said the price winnings totaled $20,000. Along with the paperwork, she handed her cousin an envelope with $13,436 in cash, and said the rest was held for taxes.

The victim found a press release from the NYS Lottery website saying Argueta claimed the $1 million prize and received a lump-sum payout of $537,440 after taxes, the DA’s office said.

The DA added that the victim called Argueta, who said she did not have any more money and if continued to call her, she would take legal action. In May 2022, Argueta forfeited $317,857.13 in winnings from her bank account, which were returned to the victim.

The valuable lesson that can be learned from the story above is that if you want to remain anonymous for your lottery winnings, do it yourself, and don't entrust money-related matters to other people (even if that person is someone close to you)

if i were am victim, i will not reconcile with that cheating cousin, unless she returns all my winnings that she has used, how about you?

The valuable lesson of the story is, anyone can be corrupted when it comes to huge money.  so never trust anyone when it comes to huge money.  If you have something to do, do it yourself and never entrust withdrawing a huge amount of money to anyone.  They can screw you big time if they get tempted and run with your money.  It is lucky for the victim that the suspect did not withdraw the whole amount and be able to salvage the remaining amount on the cousin's bank account.
552  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will crypto banks replace traditional banks on: January 23, 2023, 08:15:59 PM
I can say crypto banks can be an alternative but I do not think that it will replace the traditional banks.  One of the major reason is the government and the financial institution.  They will never let crypto banks to dominate the market, these two entities will always try thier best to put everything under their control.  With that in the financial system, financial institution will make sure that their traditional banks will not cease to exist.
553  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Basra Stadium Stampede (football match). on: January 22, 2023, 11:42:16 PM
We can't blame the football fans, if the organisers have arranged it in the better way this could've been avoided. When a football match is being conducted, surely the organisers will know about the expected crowd.

Organizers as I stated have the problem here.  They probably deploy too little security personnel to watch over the security of the vicinity.  It is either of small number of security personnel or the security personnel have their lapses in security giving an opportunity to ticketless fans to enter the stadium.

Football fans won't directly get into these kind of activities. In the past there might be some fans who used loopholes to enter the stadium and watch the game. The same might've got spread and at the time it is impossible to have control. Hope these kind of stampede won't happen again.

I think this had been a practiced in that area, and probably this is not the first time the ticketless fans are able to enter that vicinity.  I believe it has been a long time problem that there are security lapses during the events making these ticketless fans enter the venue.  It's that the result of that security lapses happened  in this event causing a stampede that cost several lives.
554  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I turned over $1.344M with Sportsbet.com - https://imgur.com/a/gFB14gl on: January 22, 2023, 10:59:19 PM
If the story is actually true, then that's a fantastic result for the player. Still, I think this is purely about advertising he wants to make for the sportsbet site.
Why would someone post how much money they won on a gambling site? If I had won that much, I would prefer to keep it to myself. I certainly wouldn't want other people to find out that I would have won that much money. You can only risk it that way. Well, maybe people think differently. 1.4 million is a lot of money, by the way. Will gambling sites actually pay that to players?

I think you are confused.

The picture is from MY betting account.

I posted it to show you how greedy and pathetic these gambling companies are.

I turned over close to $1M in a single month and these vultures refuse to give me a bonus.

Woah, congrats! But did you able to withdraw all of it? There's a thread in this forum that I read last time I don't if I remembered it correctly but the casino refuses to give him the amount that he won because it is too big, that's a quite good also you are a really good gambler I think they should give you bonus as well, you might be an ambassador if they want since you are an active gambler and very good one you can get other gamblers by showing your betting account and bonus if you want them to be referred but then they don't give you, what if you ask their csr? Do they really not give bonuses?

It isn't a win but rather a total wagering amount.  @OP is just whining about not getting bonus despite him wagering more than his friends.  He thinks he deserves the bonus but the gambling platform deny him of that bonus because he is winning at the time the bonus is airdropped.
555  Economy / Gambling / Re: What do you appreciate more Desktop or Phone on: January 22, 2023, 10:44:14 PM
I am strongly in favour of desktop applications or even web based, as I think that phones are usually to small and I do not really trust much the apps, but there seems to be many people who would rather use their phone. Is that because they do not have access to a desktop computer? It may also be a regional issue, the same as people that do not use a browser?

I'm using my mobile for most daily tasks and also gambling. Not sure what exactly do you mean by "people that do not use a browser"? You mean like mobile app users? Not all websites have mobile apps, besides mobile apps consume lots of space on my mobile and I hate those push notifications so I'm trying to use websites instead if possible.  Cool

I appreciate both Desktop and phone.  they have their own advantage and disadvantages like phone can be portable while pc can't be.  On the other hand we can do more things in PC while we are limited on phone because of its limited features.  When it comes to gambling, it is always good to have a larger screen which is provided by PC while it is also better to have an access to the game wherever we are which is provided by mobile phone. That is why I appreciate both devices since they cover my different needs.
556  Economy / Gambling / Re: bc.game dice is better than stake.com dice on: January 22, 2023, 10:28:56 PM
This kind of condition is what gave birth to multiple casinos as competitors, if there is no comparison between the two we won't know which one is better at providing a better game experience and quality even though it is the same game.
Stake.com is a big casino indeed, but they there are not still 100% the best in terms of games quality and reward, casinos differ from one another and the earlier we get used to that affect the better for all of us in the gambling market looking for better services, so ops I give you a big head up even though you may not be accurate in your judgement.

True, but the term is "better than"  then providing his bet history is just a personal belief.  Every player have different experience and different result in every casino.  One may experience a good winning in a casino than others in one point of time and experience the other casino to give him a better result in another point of time.  Gambling result is random so I believe we cannot use that as a proving factor why x casino is better than y casino because who knows, you the experience might be the opposite the next time you play with those casinos.
557  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How Visible is your trading plan on: January 21, 2023, 11:37:35 PM
Indeed we need our trading plan very visible so that we can check its accountability, objectivity, consistency, and derive learning from them.  If we are able to see our trading plan, it will help us in terms of information and effective decisions and since we have records of everything, we can achieve a better result in the long run.

I just realized that my trading plan isn't visible as I think it is, so I guess I need to have a closer look in it and record everything and learn from every information I can get.
558  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Basra Stadium Stampede (football match). on: January 21, 2023, 11:21:07 PM
I also think that this is more on the organizer's fault.  Their lapse on security resulted in these stampede.  they are blaming the ticketless when they have the authority to stop them and even put them in arrest.  With a strong security line up, I doubt this ticketless will do things they did that causes the stampede.  So I think organizers should always take priority of their client's lives, planning ahead and patching holes that can cause tragedy like this.  So for me it is the organizers poor crowd management and inadequate safety measures.
559  Economy / Economics / Re: A True Leader With Economic Vision. on: January 21, 2023, 10:40:37 PM
For me a good leader has the following characteristics:

  • Vision
  • Emotional Intelligence
  • Decisiveness
  • Adaptability
  • Communication
  • Self-awareness
  • Empathy
  • Mentorship
  • Empowerment
  • Responsibility
  • Charismatic

and most of all
  • God fearing

I believe a leader must have this characteristics, it might not make the leader perfect but at least he has the characteristic to bond people together.
560  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: It's a good idea to just register on casino on: January 21, 2023, 10:30:30 PM
There is a counter argument where we are talking about a situation on how registering would give you more money in some cases so it would be smarter to not register on places that you do not gamble, just in case if they ever offer any promotion for people who would like to register and get something.

I am not saying that you should not register anywhere, if you want to gamble at some places then you should be gambling there and register for it but if you have absolutely no intention of gambling in a place, maybe not registering there and waiting for them to have some sort of bonus to people who would register could end up being better for you in the long run.
Actually, I have been registered to multiple casino platforms that have surfaced here on the forum and I have been receiving multiple emails from some of them about bonuses however I don't think that those bonuses that they offer really do hold great value as a gambler since most of them has a crazy requirement which only active users can only achieve those requirements.

It is much better to stick with the welcome bonuses given by these casinos rather than wait for those random bonuses they offer that won't actually make you go back to gambling on the platform.

Same here, I am also registered to different casino since everytime I read about a casino in this forum, I always tried to check it and compare the casino where I always play.  It is true that every new casino offers a good or reasonable bonuses but there is always a catch on there.  It is either I need to deposit a certain amount or need a wagering requirement in order to make the bonus amount mine.  Worst is that the wagering amount is too high for the amount to beat except if we are lucky.
