541  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mempool and Spam Transactions LOL on: January 07, 2024, 11:08:51 PM
I don't know how you arrived at the conclusion that miners are behind ordinals. I don't actually believe that to be true only there are substantial evidence to support that. What I think is that miners just saw opportunities in it and are benefitting accordingly. They may not be behind it, it could just be the handwork of people that want to leverage on the popularity of Bitcoin to scam people of their money in.exchange for digital jpeg.
Maybe if you've got a funny bone in you then you're going to find it funny, I don't think OP meant any harm or slander towards the miners, it's just that in the past few months of popularity of ordinals they're the most that's benefited in all of this inscription craze because the inscription takes up space in the mempool and with spaces taken up, it makes it so that transactions are being delayed which increases the fee for us who just want to do a bitcoin transaction, I'm sure it's not a real thing that miners are desperately filling up the mempool by spamming ordinals to increase the fees but it's still not that far fetch to think that it can be a possibility right?
542  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What triggers the zeal to invest? on: January 07, 2024, 02:47:16 PM
I think positive news is the likely trigger for someone's zeal to invest, I mean the definition of zeal is close to blind worship or obedience right which means that when there's something good that's happening to bitcoin, the zeal or the hype behind bitcoin investment increases because a lot of people are positive about the possibility that it's going to eventually increase and make them get their money back because they've invested now and they're expecting the price to go up in the future. Another trigger that I think can happen is when someone wants to be financially stable and that they want to explore things that has a potential to make them a profit.
543  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who among you here is gambling at work? on: January 07, 2024, 09:16:35 AM
~
Even if you're working remotedly or not, it is not right for you to combine time with work and gambling because there's an impact between both sides. Even if you're a multitasker, you have to focus on one thing while you're at your working hours. Respect the company rules and have an integrity. Better to gambling if you are on your working hours break and that's reasonable because you are not doing any work related while on your break.
I disagree with that, if you can combine and balance your work with your gambling, it's not like you're going to jeopardize what you're doing at your work, I mean look at me, I'm doing this post here in the office and so far I haven't received a memo yet that I should do this, I even do an occasional esports bet and then watch the match that I've put my money on while my co-workers watch me, even my boss watches sometimes so like I've said already, it depends on what company you're working because in my office, there's a lot of down time so it's not a bad idea to gamble or do some sort of entertainment to pass the time. The best kind of worker to be is someone that's having fun while at work but still gets the job done.
544  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are you willing to bet $50 spin for a chance to win $42 million? on: January 07, 2024, 08:24:10 AM
To be honest, I don't think it's going to be a yes for me because the odds of me winning that $42 million is stacked heavily against me so I don't think that I'm ever going to spin that much just for a chance to a jackpot prize maybe if the odds were 50/50 or something in that level then I would probably go for it, after all it's just a $50 right? What's the point of being to stingy when there's a moderate chance that I can get that win. That's the truth for me because $50 is a big amount of money for me so I'd rather spend it on other stuff or gamble the money although in a way that I'm not going all in with just one bet or spin.
545  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Amount of BTC lost over time? on: January 06, 2024, 02:36:53 PM
That's also the amount that the articles that I've seen discussing about the entirety of lost Bitcoins forever. Like it's 4 million on 2022 and it had increased to 6 million on 2023.

And for this year, I guess that there will be more of it but I'm also interested to see actual data and charts about it. I've tried to searched but found none.
That's a lot of bitcoin if you ask me but I'm not complaining if that's the amount but still I can't believe that there's that many speculated amount that's gone forever. Does that number include the bitcoins that haven't moved in a decade or 5 years? Also, I'm curious as to how they make this estimates because it seems to me that the most obvious way which is checking the addresses that have these bitcoins or counting the current circulation of bitcoin in different exchanges are a little bit too on the nose for me. I want to see a chart for that too but I don't want the complex kind of chart though, something that can be understood by reading a few lines or just looking at the chart and not having a hard time understanding it.
546  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The most logical and profitable game on: January 06, 2024, 09:52:14 AM
What do you mean most logical to win? Do you mean easiest to win? It's probably sports betting. Your bet on a certain sports match is not really dependent on luck. You have actual basis for your bets. So if you're talking of logic, then it's the kind of gambling that has it. Others such as casino games, lottery, slots, etc. These are luck based games. There's no logic in their games. The result is not one that is coming from computation or mathematics. They're just random results.
Considering that OP included in the title that it should also be profitable, I do agree with you that it's sports betting that's the most likely candidate for this given that there's a lot of resources already out there to help you like sports analysts, the current record of the teams playing and the player roster, as long as you know the game and you know who's playing good, you won't be a bad shot when you're playing sports betting and another help that makes it easier is that sports betting companies are also helping you choose which one's to bet with the odds telling you the most likely winners, you can never go wrong but you have to be smart though as you're going to need to pick only the matches that no matter where you bet, you'll always get some wins.
547  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Anthony Joshua vs. Francis Ngannou - March 9 on: January 06, 2024, 09:13:29 AM
With what happened with the Fury vs Ngannou fight, I'm going to bet that this fight is going to be on Anthony Joshua's favor but if Ngannou knocks out Anthony Joshua and makes sure that he's securing a lot more knockdowns than usual then this will probably be a win for Ngannou although I still have a doubt that this is going to be a clean fight in terms of decision so that's why I believe that it's Ngannou's only chance which I do believe he has a higher chance this time because Fury is much tougher than Joshua so Ngannou's power punches is definitely going to shake Joshua even more than Fury. I'll bet on Ngannou just in case the corruption of the boxing federation doesn't touch or affect this match as much as the Fury vs. Ngannou fight.
548  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you think gamblers do retired betting gambles on: January 06, 2024, 08:09:20 AM
Like any hobbies or passions out there, I don't think that there shouldn't be any age of retirement for that because if that's what you love to do and you like to do it without any problems then why not continue doing it right? There's no way that you can just give what you love to do unless it's hurting you. I think that's my take on this question, that money won't be going anywhere and that old man probably got the money to be able to sustain that habit and one thing about all of this is we really don't have a say as to how that old man or any old person do with their money because it's common sense to mind your own business.
549  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: One more filed smear campaign against Bitcoin on: January 05, 2024, 04:11:31 PM
Ask a friend of mine about the recent dump, seems that it's miners selling a lot of their bitcoin that have been on hodl for a really long time. Sad thing that a lot of people have panicked and now they've made a mistake, the prices are stabilizing again and now they either can come back because they've lost value or they're so shocked at what happened. Can't blame them though, they're going to do that kind of thing no matter how much we want to warn people not to panic sell, some people just don't have the nerve to not sell when the price is not looking favorable to them.
550  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did anyone else know there is an Insured BTC wallet? on: January 05, 2024, 02:50:04 PM
Okay, my deposit is insured for $50k. But if I deposit, let's say, 10 bitcoins (~450k) and they get hacked, then it turns out that they will return only a tenth of it to me? What the hell do I need such services for? And in general, what is the point of depositing my bitcoins with a third party? It's the same as depositing your dollars in a regular bank.
My guess is that this is one of those movement in crypto where they try to emulate something that's used in fiat and make it fit into the current cryptocurrency landscape, 50k insurance isn't that bad if you ask me since that's a lot of money but in terms of bitcoin insurance it's never going to work because when the price goes up, the difference from the insured amount is going to be a free bitcoin for the people in that insurance company or to some hackers, I mean the possibility that they might even orchestrate their own hacks isn't that far fetch right?
551  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if Bitcoin ETF is not Approved on: January 05, 2024, 02:14:13 PM
There's still a reapplication right? If there is, then it's a good thing for many people in the bitcoin market because that means that you can still buy more bitcoin so you can get more profit because you've grown what you've accumulated so far, trust me that if I am right about the reapplication then that's a time extension for us. ETF approval seems to be delayed though which means that we can still buy more bitcoin if we have the ability to do so, don't forget to DCA though so you're making great value along the way.
552  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [A POLL] Without Chances of Making Money, Will you still be gambling? on: January 05, 2024, 01:39:07 PM
I don't think that's going to be an option for someone, gambling when you know that you're not going to win with a concrete evidence is definitely a no for me, it's different to when you know that you have a chance, you want to risk it because you might win it unlike with the proposed scenario where you're not getting anything even if you play. I guess it's in our best interest if we're making sure that we're having a chance at getting our money back that a lot are going to not gamble when there's way they can win back.
553  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Rich, average or poor. Who loses more? on: January 05, 2024, 12:01:16 PM
The poor loses more based on my observations and from what I've read in all the other replies, it does make sense that poor people are having the biggest losses because they already have a small amount of money so I don't think that it's going to be a insignificant for them to spend that money in gambling, remember that they're poor and that money that they need is something that they could've used for something other than gambling, they could've used that money to buy more food for themselves so they can survive the day a bit better than usual unlike with the rich where it's probably nothing to them to spend that money in gambling. When it comes to average though, I'm going to say that they're going to have the same loss as the poor but the catch is that they have to become addicted to be able to experience the same loss as a poor gambler.
554  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which one is fun, watching with bet or without a bet? on: January 04, 2024, 02:40:33 PM
~
when you place a bet, it can disrupt your focus on the game, because when betting, only the result, the outcome, is important: winning or losing. Because of this, you may start betting but stop watching the game and instead start checking only the outcome. If excitement takes over you, then this will happen constantly and for various types of games in which the player does not even understand anything. This can happen if the player wants to win back. This is one of the options.

If you look in general, it all depends on the size of the bet; if the bet is too large, then the interest of the game can completely evaporate. I still prefer, if I bet, to make a small bet and fully enjoy watching it.
That's a way to look at things but you have to understand that it's not black and white when it comes to this, there's some people out there that can bet a huge amount of money without having any shred of anxiety that they might lose all of that money but at the same time they're enjoying the game as much as those that are betting small amounts so they can still enjoy the game without being worried that they're losing a lot of money in case the team that they've placed their bet on loses. But still, it's a matter of personal preference and the way we take things, it's so different so we disagree on some things.
555  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you care about what people say about you gambling? on: January 04, 2024, 01:39:23 PM
Some people really care what people think of them because they don't want to be deserted and have no friends when they get old or when they live in a community, that has many good people but it will all depends on which country you are living in because the customs will always be at your side if you follow it unless it is an obvious customs that are against the laws. Suppose you cannot let go of your bad habit whatever it is. In that case, it's better for you not to show it to the people and not be proud of it because when one day you want to change your lifestyle, you can always join their companies and not be left alone and no one wants to have you because you were once a gambler.
That's just how it is, some people grew up to needing the approval and attention of other people and so they end up with having this kind of problem, not being able to let go of attachments and people that are bad for their being is byproduct of how they grew up and what environment they were raised in. But the good news is that it's something that you can easily learn how to not basically give a fuck to what others have to say to what you're doing. Show who you are, don't be too bad about yourself just because you've got a bad habit, just learn not to give a fuck.
556  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Inoue vs Casimero (possible fight in 2024) Let's discuss! on: January 04, 2024, 12:58:21 PM
The only thing that will make that match possible is if there's a lot of money that's going to be involved and the right people will have their palms greased, there's no way that they're going to get that fight again quickly. I mean why are they so quick at having a rematch, didn't Inoue won the last fight with an astounding performance? Are they trying to dethrone the Monster as a champion? As much as I like to criticize what they've been doing, I think the boxing federations that's currently managing and making these fights possible needs a complete rework and clean house because the federation is so corrupt, the right boxers don't get the right fights because of the corruption.
557  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can loneliness make one addicted to gambling on: January 03, 2024, 05:14:47 PM
Creating and getting community support where we stay connected to other gamblers will never be good and we will remain addicted to gambling because their influence will definitely be stronger than staying connected with other people who don't gamble, but this is the challenge in being able to stop gambling addiction. fight loneliness with other better activities so you can forget about gambling and be more active outside of gambling. it helps more with loneliness
Correct, a community that tolerates addiction isn't curing addiction. What should be done in this kind oof stuff is a little tolerance and support from the community which is going to be combined with help and improved rehabilitation system for the community of addicts so they can really recover from addiction or maybe even go there themselves even without the need of the family member persuading them because the system works. Another thing that we shouldn't forget is we have to learn the fact that addicts are humans too and that because they're in that state doesn't mean that they don't deserve the same respect, doing that will eventually remove the stigma surrounding addiction which makes it easy to treat addiction as it also treats loneliness since there's no disrespect and disgust from the community.
558  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does the tension make you take risk that are sometimes worth it? on: January 03, 2024, 03:42:28 PM
I guess sometimes it happens to me, it's one those days you know where it's best if I do what I have to when it comes to it, now that I've read about this thread, I'm starting to think that this does happen to me a lot of times when I'm gambling especially with blackjack when I'm at the number where I could hit a 21 or bust and know that I have a high likelihood that I would win against the house, those are the times that I feel like I'm pressured a lot because there's timers on whether you want another or you'll stay.
559  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Online or offline gambling which is more safer? on: January 03, 2024, 02:38:13 PM
It doesn't really matter if it is online or offline gambling, if they want to continue they would.
In online gambling they would top up every time they would lose, in offline gambling they might borrow money just to continue. So it doesn't really matter if it is offline or online it all depends on how they could control their self.
That's not entirely true my guy, no way that there's a tie between the two when it comes to who's got more addicts subscribed to their operations. There should be a study regarding this, you know some kind of statistics so we know which one's we need to look out for to prevent as much addiction as possible.
560  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling and health concern on: January 01, 2024, 05:39:14 PM
Another helpful to prevent stuff like this from happening to you all is to stay fit and be active, try to do exercises and make sure that you're still using your body to it's maximum potential. A little cardio during mornings would definitely be a big help to every person that's concerned about stuff like this, you can also substitute running with walking as long as you are moving and keeping your heart pumping at just the right beat then you know you're doing fine and diet can help you if you're sitting around all day gambling, might as well make sure you're atleast eating a healthy variety of food to help your body even just a little.
