561  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: POS earnings on: September 08, 2020, 01:06:09 AM
but i then came across some new coins like Swipe, which i'm confident that it does not generate that much in transaction fees, and yet the rewards are high?

Let me explain in simple terms. When it comes to rewards, POS is like POW but you just need to hold your coins in a wallet that can stake. In general, the rewards doesn't necessarily comes from transaction fees alone, rewards can also include new coins that is mined from staking and is added to the circulating supply. Though reward distribution method varies from different projects.
562  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Money from bank hacks rarely gets laundered through cryptocurrencies on: September 08, 2020, 12:35:12 AM
Hmmm. I don't know about that. I think the only thing that differentiate cryptocurrencies and traditional ways is time. traditional ways are proven to be one of the safest and known ways to launder money for those hackers but that doesn't mean cryptocurrency can't compete. It's only a matter of time before hackers starts migrating to using privacy cryptocurrencies to launder money once it gets more known and developed.

Not an anti-crypto btw lol. Just stating my opinion.
563  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH's fees on "De-Fi" platforms are ridiculously high on: September 07, 2020, 02:50:54 AM
My thoughts, you will need ETH 2.0 phase 1 & 2 for scaling with sharding. Currently phase 0 (PoS) is not even implemented. I bet phase 1 & 2 will get delayed a few times and will take a few years.
Maybe with luck ETH 2.0 Phase 1 takes place in 2022.

Link : https://consensys.net/knowledge-base/ethereum-2/faq/

Which means it takes years before the network congestion and high utilization (95%) can be fixed.
Off Chain outsourcing is not the answer, that just increase the risk that users and developers will leave Ethereum all together for another decentralized platform.

DeFi project hypes will most likely end by the time Eth 2.0 is implemented just like how ICO ends because of too many scams being created. There's really nothing we can do right now but wait, leave ETH for now, or use centralized exchanges that acceps DeFi projects. But to be honest, this fees are getting too absurd. It's not only affecting DeFi but other ERC-20 tokens too.
564  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Electrum update: A trader lost 1400 BTC on: September 07, 2020, 02:35:59 AM
Hardware wallets even the cheapest ones are a little bit more expensive however I agree with you, a person that installed in a computer with no Internet access one of the many different flavours of Linux which he downloaded and verified himself and that installed a wallet like electrum there and verified the wallet as well and then wrote down his seed words in a piece of paper could store a lot of money safely as long as he followed the same steps over and over again.

Hardware wallets are convenient but they are unnecessary for the ones that know how to take the right precautions, but in this particular case it would have helped this person as it is obvious he could not secure his coins properly.

I think the issue here is that the merchant is ignorant from securing his coins. If he doesn't know how to distinguish fake wallets to a real one, it's most likely that he isn't aware from the fact that there are hard wallets that will help him secure his coins. He's probably also afraid to use wallets that is unknown to him.

Ignorance can really bite a person hard.
565  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BSV twitter account banned on: September 06, 2020, 01:54:51 AM
I hope that the BSV folks will not take it personally as Jack Dorsey is also a known bitcoin guy.

There's a legitimate reason if their twitter has been banned. Maybe they can appeal to twitter and reinstate their account, is that possible on twitter right?

Yeah. I bet OP is being bombarded with messages right now from those BSV folks. I doubt that they will be able to appeal this though since this is a clear violation of twitter rule under Impersonation policy. They will most likely make new twitter account or use other twitter accounts.

As of now, halos testing and researching palang ang ginagawa patungkol sa mga cryptocurrencies.

568  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Bangko Sental ng Pilipinas on Crypto adoption on: September 05, 2020, 03:03:18 AM

As far as I know, matagal ng legal ang Bitcoin dito sa Pilipinas.

569  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC is Going to "DEAD....!" Need Discussion..... on: September 05, 2020, 02:32:30 AM
You know what's a more healthier discussion? Is about the development of Bitcoin that would help it's user and future users. Stop comparing and discussing the price of Bitcoin in 2017 and the current price since 2017 was the year where Bitcoin was overhyped as an investment by a scammer and the year of airdrops and ICO where it's still a thing full of innovation and not scammers.
570  Economy / Speculation / Re: There Bitcoin goes again. on: September 02, 2020, 12:18:45 AM
Good price to pull some profit from Bitcoin in my opinion. Most traders and holders are probably thinking the same and most likely will watch the market a little bit and sell which will reduce price at $11,000 level again (Not unless Bitcoin can hold the $12,000 which then we will have a prosperous year even with the pandemic).
571  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin's Case As A Hedge Asset Continues To Grow on: August 30, 2020, 11:37:51 AM
If they are going to use Bitcoin in order to prevent their assets devalue because of a certain currency, then Bitcoin could be consider a hedge too I guess. From what I've seen so far, Bitcoin is being used to flee from a failing economy or currency anyway and so far, it is working. Although Bitcoin is a currency, if people starts using Bitcoin as hedge, then they will inevitably use and understand in time it which is good for Bitcoin in the long run.
572  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: is defi reason for skyrocketing fees? on: August 30, 2020, 09:20:29 AM
Yes it's DeFi. If you can't handle the fee right now, you better avoid ETH for now because I find Ethereum fees lately too absurd to trade anything even if investing in DeFi projects looks promising. Or you can wait for Eth 2.0 and hope that it will fix or lessen transaction fees.

There are ways to avoid this though by using centralized exchanges that handles DeFi or any other projects that is base on Eth since fees there are different when trading.

574  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will 2021 be the year of Litecoin? on: August 29, 2020, 01:44:15 AM
As far as I know, there's just not enough development going on in Litecoin. The developer said that development is still continued but Litecoin has always been silent. I can only see Litecoin having higher price when Bitcoin pumps as almost all reputable altcoins do.
575  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New NEO DeFi Token - FLAM on: August 28, 2020, 10:03:05 AM
What are you views and thoughts about flamingo finance? There's not much info out there about it yet.
Atleast something trending launching on Neo, It always feels good when other tokenization and smart contracts platforms are used by new projects because mostly we see ethereum based projects, I hope flamingo finance will fo well and make the Neo community proud too.

Not to mention that Ethereum based projects are affected because of the expensive fees. I've not heard about this project yet but if it's worth a shot, NEO might be have some gains because of this since they are the one who he advertising in their twitter. It also seems that they are trying to encourage new DeFi projects in NEO.
576  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What happens to Bitcoin in the long term? on: August 28, 2020, 08:54:41 AM
However, isn't it that LN is also one significant reason for miners to have a lower transaction fee revenue? As LN transactions are off-chain transactions the fees would instead go to LN nodes rather than to Bitcoin miners. What is left for the miners are only the fees paid upon the opening and closing of LN channels.

Accordingly, "miner revenue from transaction fees with active use of LN is lower than today’s levels until a threshold of 20 million LN users, each transacting 10 times/day, is breached."[1]

[1] https://medium.com/@matteoleibowitz/bitcoin-disinflating-to-death-b4ba7b691969

Then that means we just have to bypass that 20 million users even further. Even with small fees, it's still significant if fees pile up to the point that it's profitable to the miners. Let's also remember that Bitcoin won't be staying at it's current price anyway. Who knows, we might see Bitcoin at around $100,000 someday which will boost miner's profit even if it's just fees.
577  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: DITO stocks - dapat ba mag invest na DITO? on: August 28, 2020, 07:34:17 AM

As far as I know, hindi din sumisikat itong website na ito. Pero it also means nahahanap sila ng bagong paraan para maka scam.
579  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Bitcoin Exchange Rate Calculator on: August 27, 2020, 04:34:20 AM
Okay din to pang small time projects. Mas maganda sana kung magagawa mong mag lagay din ng mga presyo sa iba't-ibang exchange or Iba't-ibang currencies like USD o EURO, at least sa Bitcoin muna bago ang altcoins.

Sa mga hindi nakakaalam, may simple calculator din sa google, type mo lang "PHP (or any currency) to BTC price" at lalabas na agad although hindi siya ito masyadong accurate.
580  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I can't wait until I can pay using bitcoin at the supermarket on: August 27, 2020, 03:29:11 AM
Let's just wait until it happens. Or Why not you're the one who first initiates a move in your area? Like introducing to your friends, neighbors, and businesses. Then if bitcoin is already an option payment recognize by many people, it might be an option to some supermarkets to accept it as well.

Unlikely that this is going to happen because of the absurd fees that we are having right now. Today, I had to send Bitcoin with a 2 dollars worth of fee on a single transaction and it took a lot of time to finish. Now imagine supermarkets doing this and customers sending with this kind of fees for every transaction they make. We'd have to wait for lightning network or a Bitcoin development that would fix or at least lessen the fees to be feasible.
