Does litecoin support Segwit addresses? I'm using the nano ledger to store mine and I tried sending some from an exchange to my ledger litecoin segwit address but it wouldn't because it was an unrecognised format. Can anyone help?
It does, but your exchange probably doesn't support the new M type address (starts with M) that Leger uses. What you need to do is to convert the M type address to the old legacy 3 type address. Some background: At the start Litecoin used the same 3 preffix for multisig addresses as Bitcoin. It was later decided to use a different prefix, so we can tell if a multisig address is for BTC or LTC. Both addresses (3 or M) have the same private key, so they are basically the same address. Their public keys (address) look completely different because of the different prefix (3 or M). You need to use a convert tool. Don't just replace M with 3! https://litecoin-project.github.io/p2sh-convert/In any case, try your first transaction with some change you don't care about

I mistakenly sent LTC to BTC address is there anything the LTC devs can do with this wrong transactions? Will it be rejected by the LTC blockchain because the transaction is erroneous? Please help... here's the TXID: ca46709a5ebc97d932423c41da78b4b047e43bff5e0e426d041cf5dfd6db9f85 The transaction is valid. But there is a chance to get the coins back if you are the owner of the BTC wallet. If you have access to the private keys of the BTC address, then you can generally create the same private key for a LTC wallet and access your LTC. The procedure is different depending on what that BTC address is (HW wallet, desktop wallet, exchange address, ...). Google has many answers If you don't own the BTC address, consider this an expensive lesson, sorry... No...it's okay to comment such. Maybe an instance like this could help the LTC blockchain. Maybe the devs can create a program that if ever LTC will be sent to any other BTC/altcoin addresses (erroneous transaction) it will automatically comes back to the sender's wallet. They did provide a solution. It's called an M type address. It helps differentiate between LTC and BTC multisig addresses. What you are talking about is not going to happen. It violates the basic principles of Litecoin. There is no Undo. It's kind of the whole point...

of course they are here to stay. But in no way is btc technologically crippled. You've been drinking the alt kool aid on that one.
it does not support any realtime service protocol and so can never deliver native API services it can only support a deflationary monetary system, no inflationary ones and so is useless as a trading currency it has no native fungibility maintenance governance is by contention only, which has already lead to forks in the community as well as the chain itself it's one of the most centralised assets in the financial universe with 98% of the supply being held by less than 0.1% of the world population it's slow at confirmation (a good thing IMO, but if you're trying to top up your credit card when the shop's closing in 10 minutes, forget it) the Lightning network will not fix this as it only works for off-chain transactions plus... thisI'd better stop there for now cos my "koolaid" tank seems to keep topping itself up and I might get a bit sick - No realtime service protocol? No native API services? No ice cream dispensers? Worst crypto ever! - Yes, that's the basic monetary system of bitcoin. Useless as a trading currency? You spelled too precious wrong - Not yet! Confidential Transactions are in the works. - Yes, that's how decentralized systems work. What's your point? - Sure, that's not good. But I'm unsure how to solve this by creating an altcoin... - That's what LN is for. It's meant for small and fast payments. Being off-chain is what enables the whole thing anyway. I dont agree that the next ATH is coming just because a diagonal line was broken. How many times did that happen in 2014? Rally to 12Kish maybe.
Shhhhh! Don't scare them! I need someone to buy my coins at 12k before they plummet to sub 5k

Days of "only bitcoin" are coming soon, just wait and see. Bitcoin is about to start its super bull-run, and once it does, alts are gonna suffer. You might then pick up some of your favorite alts and enter them, but entering alts right now isn't the best thing to do IMO.
Bitcoin is about to take-off, there's a huge probability of it right now, it has broken the downtrend, once it does, proud owners of alts are gonna cry, again.
I truly hope so There could be room for two https://coinmarketcap.com/historical/20130428/

ETH has me super pissed. It should be worthless but instead it's up like 80% from its low.
Ripple, BCash and EOS up 15-20% in the last 24h and you get annoyed by ETH? Interesting... I'm not following ALL the shitcoins, but now XRP has me even more upset. Thanks. Sure thing. You're welcome. Sorry I made you look one row lower on CoinMCap

I'm sure you were trying to make a point with this statement, but somehow forgot to actually write it down. Care to enlighten me?

I've seen this dumb meme a lot lately of "why do taxes exist when they can just print?". Probably because chance of hyperinflation would be 10x higher, duh? Did you people just fall off a turnip truck? That and they want precedent for extracting from you when they're inevitably forced to go back to sound money (physical silver and gold).
We both agree that the current system will eventually be replaced by something that is based on sound money (after all fiat money is the historical anomaly). I΄m not one of these hardcore libertarians, who is dreaming of a world without any taxes. I just happen to disagree with the current level of taxation in my own country (I live in one of the European countries, that is rather wealthy for now, but has a ridiculously high level of taxation) and most other countries. There is this weird phenomenon where the state grows continously, but never shrinks. This obviously leads to an ever-growing demand for more money where the state needs to extract more money using taxation and a growing deficit. If your politicians also follow a ridiculously stupid immigration policy, which exacerbates the whole situation even more by introducing hundreds of thousands of people, who won΄t be living off productive work but off government transfers the outlook is pretty grim (you are probably able to guess my country right now ). The immigration numbers suggest it's Germany, the rest could be almost any EU country.

Litecoin is a peer-to-peer cryptocurrency and open source software project released under the MIT/X11 license. Creation and transfer of coins is based on an open source cryptographic protocol and is not managed by any central authority. Litecoin is not yet dead and still fighting.
Remember kids, this is how shit posting to get merits looks like

This coin is quite interesting, I will wait for the next announcement, of course with more detailed information, about mining and swimming pool, does this coin hold a bounty or signature campaign ... Hopefully worth the investment. What?? Although you are a newbie, your question sounds ridiculous. Perhaps you ask Bitcoin to make a bounty or signature campaign? Nevermind them, it's just clueless n00bs who got in at the ATH because their hairdresser/mechanic told them about an ICO.

I have some internal conflict here... I have ALWAYS been pro free speech, but this racist shit is getting, at the very least, too much in every sense. I don't even fucking understand what's the point of it beyond just pissing people. I don't like it. No.
There is no conflict. You are not for free speech. Funny how banning racism would imply to ban judaism. http://judaism.is/who-is-human.htmlBlasphemy!

oh guys I so believe in Litecoin. Even now it's super popular, what will be later? can't guess. such a good coin
You are right because LiteCoin always follows after Bitcoin. LTC is like younger brother for BTC. But LTC has more opportunities than BTC: it has higher speed and lower fees. But, does it have electrolytes? EXTRA BIGASS FRIES At least someone got the reference...

I'll look into it

Another Litecoin debit card on work! Charlie Lee on Twitter: "Seems like another Litecoin debit card in the works. Not hyping... Just excited to see so many companies supporting Litecoin! 😁" And is Wirex this time, maybe we'll get trough! Another good news for Litecoin: KorbitBTC will launch LTC trading! More info here https://twitter.com/SatoshiLite/status/986135546215845888 ! what kind of fees would a 'debit' card have in this manner? My bank account debit card has no fees if I use it with the bank, but that will not apply in this case. (I just don't know enough about debit cards outside of the one my bank gives me) brad The spending fees are 0 or small for payments, but they take 1-2% on the crypto->fiat exchange rate

Did you guys see WAX just announced EOS as their contender instead of Ark, this is really unfair EOS doesn't even have a mainnet yet while Ark is going to release their v2 soon.
in cryptocurrency world, hype, self pump, insider pump, whale pump, fake volumes is real and development is later or never at all. all the shits eos, cardano, neo, tron...know how to hype, ark don't. ark is drifting into the black hole and will be forgotten. you say but ark have mainnet, well, if ark team and people can't hype then the mainnet or tech is not going to be worth much, people will just copy and claim it their own then hype it. of course wax is going to pick the best hype like eos, not something like ark. it's all about hype and fake volumes, everything is later or don't exist everyone is going to claim they have the best tech and development including ark Sadly, this is all true.

Can I store xmr on Kraken to be credited with new monerov (xmv) This is getting ridiculous! Seriously. It has been written several times on this page that: "Regarding the Monero V fork: we do not have a formal statement. " They don't plan to support it right now. If you want to know which exchanges will support the fork, all you have to do is visit the official page: https://monerov.org/updates/Mind blown...

Could somebody explain me - why we need a lot number of cryptocurrencies?
Simple, we don't. Most will die out, and we will have a few major ones + some utility tokens that will actually be useful.
