561  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [OFFICIAL]Bitfinex.com first Bitcoin P2P lending platform for leverage trading on: June 03, 2014, 08:27:39 AM
IS there a history page for trades on DRK?
Unfortunately not, either we find the time to put up trades history for all pairs or third parties pick up on this.

Could you please contact those girls over at SierraChart and BitcoinWisdom and have them add DRK? If you do not want to then I can post in the SierraChart forum (paying subscriber) and e-mail bitcoinwisdom.

There are many arguments for and against DRK here but at the end of the day.. if I can trade it and make a profit then it's all good.

I'm adding them to http://www.bfxdata.com now, not a girl, but I'll add it anyway Wink

Great, thank you! :-)

Is this still for sale?

I bid 3.5 BTC granted it is in the condition you state and still has a BTC loaded on arrival.

NWO already payed the sum, I shipped the coin today.
Thank you everybody for your interest and inquiries.

563  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [OFFICIAL]Bitfinex.com first Bitcoin P2P lending platform for leverage trading on: May 27, 2014, 04:23:29 PM

I'm talking about taking margin upfront as long as
tradable balance (aka leveraged free margin) allows
to cover the expected swap interest.

Suppose i'm holding a fully leveraged position (can't place margin orders),
knowing that i will be closing it and reentering the market at the later time.
Hence i'd like to secure some margin right away, while rates are still relatively low.

RIght now i have to place multiple tiny swap bids, clogging the order book and everything.

Or is there any other reasons why taking more margin than tradable bl isn't possible atm?
Essentially this is leveraging for swaps. I.e. the same 2.5:1 limit can be applied or not.

Okay, so you mean to take a swap before you need it, at a time when you're not yet able to use it, so that it's reserved at a low rate for when you want it?

I don't know; I suspect that's not something the system will let you do, but I don't see what the harm would be in allowing it. Might have the potential to be abused by someone seeking to manipulate the swap rate by taking up the cheap liquidity without any intent of ever using it - being able to keep up the fee payments is a much lower bar than having enough funds to back up a margin trade.

Although, if you want to take advantage of the cheap swaps that are available, you should be able to 'refinance' by cancelling your existing swap; it'll automatically take the cheapest offer to replace it.

Exactly that is possible, and makes sense.
Either reserve funds beforehand, or get them on-the-go. Either way, you pay the rates for the whole time, "used" or "unused". It now makes less sense, as the longest time you can get funds is only 30 days.

564  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory - Discussion Thread on: May 27, 2014, 03:41:12 PM
Good morning!

Quote
I had Armory segfault problems, it works now after a 'git pull'.
Now it says one of my wallets are corrupt, but the "repair tool" is grayed out here. Suggestions?
It is still scanning the tx history for another 15 mins, so I can't say if the balance is as I expect.

Now, after a restart(?), the wallet fix tool opens.
Somewhere it says that you don't have to enter the passphrase for wallet fixing, but then it fails to run the fix tool.
When entering the passphrase, it works, until it hangs at "18 of 107 address entries". After that, I have to forcibly end Armory.

Is this of any interest? Or shall I just grab a backup and forget about this?

Ente

Any suggestions on this?
There's no new git stuff to pull, and I'd prefer to not use a backup, as I would lose the descriptions of all tx (I guess).

Ente

Sorry Ente,

I totally overlooked this.  The latest version (0.91.3) shouldn't freeze any more.  I think that's on the testing branch.

Uhm, general GIT question: Is it possible to accidently commit changes to the GIT project, with no account and all?

My local copy diverged from the GIT version, and now I get confused with all that stuff.. oops

edit:
I think I didn't actually commit any garbage upstream.. oops again.
The testing version scanned through the corrupted(?) wallet, I sent you all info via the report function.

565  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory - Discussion Thread on: May 27, 2014, 03:32:36 PM
Just a future note, when the time comes, please have a build of armory for the mac OSX system that has no plugin capabilities as I look to armory as a fort knox for my bitcoins and a plugin system would make it very unsafe.

They don't need to create a plugin-free edition. Per default you have no-plugins. And if its "fort knox" for you, then you work with a watch only wallet anyway.

With a watch only wallet, your private key is not on the online computer, so there is no thread to it.

Plugin systems bring a whole set of new problems. Armory was a secure wallet but now people like you will make it into some Facebook wallet kinda sad. Stop requesting things that compromise the secure.

Calm down.  I still have control over this, and I wouldn't implement it in a way that would compromise its security.  The goal is to make the app extensible OPT-IN without requiring new builds all the time.  This is important for users that want things like, special export capability to read the wallet history and export in proprietary formats they need (perhaps, exporting each wallet with exchange rates and queries to other LAN resources).   But nothing would be enabled by default, and it would be very isolated.

The plan to was to allow the user to add extra python files that describe extra tabs on the main window, and those python files must be signed by ATI and/or you must sign them yourself with one of your local full wallets.  Without it, Armory will refuse to even parse the file.  There would be a way to disable these checks if you want to use "unsigned" extensions, which some people would optionally do.  But the idea is that nothing will be enabled by default, and most of the app will not be affected by the simple ability to add a new tab to main screen.  You will have to do something explicit to enable them.

In this case, the term "plugin system" is used loosely.  Usually plugin systems do have a high degree of "threading" through the app to give plugsin the ability to modify just about any part of the app (add menu options, extra functions to execute when you send transactions, etc).  Instead, this will simply be a way for users to add new tabs that enable new functionality, without having to build Armory yourself.  We consider this important especially for business users which want to be able to tie in some application-specific functionality that needs access to the wallets, bitcoin network, blockchain, etc.

I like! I like a lot!
Addons, in python, and ATI/self signing, that sounds great!
I already have ideas for "addons" :-)

Thank you, Bruno, Rassah and the rest of you, for keeping this up and running!
After the excitement and novelty some years ago, now is the time for stamina and commitment.
Thank you for keeping this rolling!

ALso, I noted there seems to be a shift here. The organisations contacting BTC100 often already know Bitcoin, and already love Bitcoin. It does sound like they only hesitate to put a Bitcoin donation option online to first grab that fat donation from BTC100.
It used to be the opposite, us contacting NGOs who never heard of Bitcoin, and providing an incentive to opt in.
Is it time for readjusting?

567  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Unresolved Bitcoin armory Problems! on: May 27, 2014, 10:23:48 AM
Hi,I have had an ongoing problem rendering my armory useless, armory support have not been able to offer any useful help either! My armory has failed to initialize for over a month now despite having installed the latest version. Also my bitcoin Qt is out of sink and over a month behind,(also the latest version) and once again armory support are unable to offer any solutions! As a result of all this of course I am unable to retrieve my wallet which is frustarating!

 Any suggestions most welcome.

Well, the bitcoin-core [ aka QT] problem is a problem on its own, and should be resolved first. Else, even with a fully working Armory, you won't see your current balances.

Is there a way to require a password on Armory start?  What if somebody gains access to my computer, opens Armory, and can see all my transactions and also the notes that I have entered to go along with those transactions?

I dont know a way directly but you might use a truecrypt file container. It has plausible deniability too. Make sure to backup the file container, for example to external harddiscs. And you might have lie the file container in google drive dir on your pc. That way your wallet is backed up in he cloud too in case you lose pc and backups.

I like your thinking, Sebastian!
Create a tiny 10mb container file, and have an almost empty wallet as a decoy in the "outer" part, and the real wallet in the "inner" part! This helps against a rubberhose-attack in most cases.
And yes, those will come eventually.

In reality scammers are kind of a good thing. Don't get me wrong, it's completely deplorable and I don't condone it, but it's a bit like the jungle. Imagine a monkey population, they live in the threes, but occasionally they go down on the ground to find certain plants, in some areas, or based or certain sounds and smells, a predator can be spotted.

Some small apes are killed or eaten in the process, but the other wisen up and stay away from the predators, and learn how to protect themselves and not to take too big risks.

Or it could be like being a small fish, you hide under a stone, and you want to swim to a stone that looks attractive not too far away, and in the corner of your eye, you see a big fish - but you assume it won't harm you, so you take the chance and swim. You get eaten. Your brothers wait till they can't see any large fish, and swim safely over to the other big stone.

Live and learn.

It gets a bit more complicated when the "dangerous factor" and "the factor training/warning you" is the same thing ;-)
But yes, it has some resemblance to evolution. And the community already did react, evolve, with escrows and audits and full disclosures for example.

I suggest SebastianJu, as he is a highly trusted and reliable escrow.

Bump.

No need to bump, these will be sold out fast! Would you think about doing a two tone pin? The same layout and style but have the BTC and the outer part black? I think that would be freaking awesome!  Tongue

What are you cruel guys doing to that poor silver? Covering it with gold, and now painting it black? Yuk!  Tongue
