Thanks!

I submitted a pull request to help with this.

Wow, that's great info!
Thank you for all the details and work! :-)

Seems I need to get a rasp-pi now, after all :-)
(and will look for a minimalistic tiny display and keypad now)

1263  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Improving Offline Wallets (i.e. cold-storage) on: April 27, 2013, 04:27:33 PM
Here is a proposal for easy to use, cheap, and secure offline wallet with livecd.
Spending your funds step by step:
1. run livecd with preinstalled software
2. insert flash drive with wallet
3. decrypt wallet and import private key required for tx
4. remove flash drive
5. sign tx located somewhere on the local drive
6. connect to the blockchain and to the internet
7. send tx

So in the end, the worst that can happen is compromised 1 private key when connecting with local drive at points 5,6 . But the window of opportunity for attacker will be small, if we won't reuse addresses. And the whole procedure can be made trivial for the user: reboot, insert cd and flashdrive, type the password, remove flashdrive, wait, reboot. And what is more important, it can be made entirely foolproof, if dedicated flash drive would be used.

That's probably the best way for "regular users" with fat wallets. As long as you can trust the (source of the) livecd, it is pretty tight. And has the bonus that it doesn't need a dedicated hardware.
I prefer a dedicated hardware which makes everything quick and easy, once it is setup. I think the "market" for your solution is bigger though.

Alternativ:

1265  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Improving Offline Wallets (i.e. cold-storage) on: April 25, 2013, 04:40:33 PM
no offline system needed. only wallets locked with 2 factor authentication and wallet change periodically Wink

So, two factors, eh?
Like, one password and one pin which comes from a paperlist or fob? Let's throw in a textmessage for good measure.
You have malware on your computer. What will happen is:
- the malware will copy your wallet file and send it home
- it will log all stuff (i.e. passwords) you type in
- it will replace the bitcoin-address you intended to send funds to
- ..and make everything look as it should, boith to your eyes as well as to any anti-malware-program you use

Heck, there are malware which run your whole windows inside its own, invisible virtual machine!

Once you have both the wallet and malware on the same computer - consider it gone. No matter what.

Hab erst jetzt den Galileo-Beitrag gesehen: bin sehr erfreut! :-)

Batch 4.. Over 200 people ordering chips in this thread alone..
WTF, what are all of them planning to do? I seriously doubt there will be 200 different implementations of Avalon-Asic-Boards. Is this a speculative good now? Reselling chips or reselling waiting positions? Are they hoping for open-source boards, or buying finished empty boards later, or what?

I am seriously scratching my head on this one..

Nein ist er nicht.

Date Registered:   April 14, 2013, 11:49:44 PM

Na, vielleicht lässt Theymos ja zwei Titel springen ;-)

Just thought I'd add this one.  Apart from the week total volume trades mentioned above I would not have guessed without looking that every single day for the last seven was pink!  However I'd be impressed if the bears managed to turn today pink too.

It was an awful sight indeed!
Happy about green, happy about the first warm sunny days here, my "long" on bitfinex is green too, life is good! :-)

Interesting double bottom looking situation with unprecedented volume.  $50 is probably the bottom.

Well I actually believe you are absolutely right. To be honest, I never expected the price to bottom again this week, but now that we have a second bottom slightly below the previous one, there are very few people left who believe the price is still too high (as compared to those who hope the price will go down more so they can buy more).

The thing is, all those sheep who are waiting at the sideline with their recently approved MtGox accounts can use this opportunity to ride the next big wave, which will hopefully bring us to $1000 in a few months. It's all a matter of confidence, the fundamental factors have been in place for a long time.

+1

Proudhon, please be frank: are you trolling?

Paradoxon incoming! Oh shi-

If we stay above 50 the next hours I count that as the bottom.
I already doubled down on the way down, so I guess I will quadruple down, huh?
Hope we don't cross 70 yet, before I get home to the seond half of my paperwallet.

Damn, what a ride!

Deadline Dienstag 23:00

1278  Local / Biete / Re: Verkaufe 6x HD6950, Restgarantie on: April 15, 2013, 07:16:36 PM

Could there be a sittiuation, where gox not have the amount of fiat people want out

if this is true , it could be the end(?) of bitcoin

Nah, I don't think so. But the end of gox and hopefully the end of the cargo cult.
Bitcoin doesn't need them to survive.
Finally someone quoting the cargo cult when refering to bitcoin exchanges! Because it is exactly how most exchanges are built, a cargo cult

I read the cargo-cult wiki, but don't get the reference in context of exchanges.
Someone care to enlighten me?

Congratulations, Julz!
