5621  Other / Meta / Re: My conspiracy theory about spammers on: March 15, 2018, 10:15:13 AM
Bitcoin Discussion, Economics, and Speculation need to be cleaned in my opinion. The discussions in them should be maintained well and be held in the highest care.
Get reporting then. If we are talking about spammers then report them because that's the only way they are going to get cleaned up because there just isn't enough manpower to enforce the hundreds of spammers per section.

I would probably disagree with your original statement that this is an attack though. This has always happened it's just more exaggerated due to Bitcoin rising in popularity recently.
5622  Other / Meta / Re: Banning system unfair? on: March 15, 2018, 10:11:55 AM
But why banappeals-w6pquw43@theymos.e4ward.com email not replying? I tried to ban appeal but they have not responded for alot of time

It seems that this isn't accurate anymore, although I may be wrong a lot people complain that they haven't received a reply from it for many months but, that might just be because their appeal isn't valid. Doesn't really matter for you though as you've posted in Meta about it so.
5623  Other / Meta / Re: The ICO pumpers problem. on: March 15, 2018, 10:09:31 AM
This is rife at the moment. Just report them when you see them and include in the comment field that they are bumping by just quoting the original topic. Unfortunately by the time the moderators have chance to deal with them another 10 have already done the same. I'm not sure what could be put in place to actually prevent this from happening.
5624  Economy / Reputation / Re: What if bounty Manager very arrogant? on: March 13, 2018, 11:13:27 PM
Finally, I see a thread about bad bounty managers.

For a while, I thought that I am the only one experiencing problems with them. Last 6 months there were hundreds of ICO running bounty campaigns on BTT and they hired just a random people with no skills needed for this job.
In begin of ICO's only high rank and reputable members could apply for moderator. Now I see junior members or even newbie accounts as a moderator.

I had lately problems with rude and lying moderator and when I was searching for help like OP by the ICO team they banned me from all Telegram groups and all future bounty campaigns. Could you believe it?
Of course, I did nothing wrong I just asked questions about delayed bounty distribution.

This is wild west what is happening with bounty campaigns. Old times when the bounty was well managed and paid in time are gone. My last 4 bounty campaigns in a row are not paid until today. Despite is 6 months after the first one and that was Atlant (they will pay my bounty each month for 18 months, just insane, announced the last week). Another one Envion not paid at all despite they told before bounty that they will pay after 2 weeks. Last one Hdac still not paid and in rules, they stated one month for payout.

I don't know OP if fighting with this unprofessional manager will be good for you in the end. But I understand that you are angry and willing justice I felt this way too. Still, when I think about this I am angry as hell.

There should be somebody or a thread where we could report bad managers and somebody from BTT team act like a judge to help us. Because we are left alone with no way to defend ourselves in such a situation.
Heed the warnings signs. Don't invest into their ICO, coin whatever and warn others about it. Only join bounties which are either run by trustworthy people or ones which you believe have a good approach. Really though if you want to have no head aches your just going to have to join ones which are run by reputable members.
5625  Other / Meta / Re: Why my messages keeps getting deleted on: March 13, 2018, 11:10:00 PM
You aren't adding anything new to the existing discussion and aren't making any points either. It's typical of the alt coin section as it's littered with these types of replies. If you continue to post these replies they'll continue to be deleted and more severe action may be taken if a moderator thinks it's justified.

Instead of being a sheep and copying all the other people replying with these nonsense replies actually contribute to the topic. You aren't being singled out here hundreds if not thousands of posts just like these get deleted every day.
5626  Other / Meta / Re: A personal thank you to the mods on: March 13, 2018, 11:06:34 PM
They are getting paid. I'm a volunteer merit source. remember that.
Yeah, they are getting paid. But, it's peanuts considering the amount of work they put in and comparing it to a 'normal' low paying job. I don't see it as a salary and more of a thank you from theymos for helping him keep the site clean. Initially mods didn't get paid and it was purely volunteering.
5627  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: John Oliver explains Bitcoin and Blockchain on: March 13, 2018, 09:38:04 PM
I find that John Oliver appeals to the masses because of his comedic approach rather than other videos about Bitcoin only attract tech savvy people. I'll take a look at the video but, I'm sure that it's as good as his previous work.
5628  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Four factors driving the price of Bitcoin on: March 13, 2018, 09:33:06 PM
There are hacks going around everywhere right so this together with all the distrust from all the governments have had a negative influence on price. But historicaly the price has always been stagnant around this time of year and we are definetly not out of the bubble yet. There is still some money left on the table

Hacks and the sort also bring good media coverage even though I don't believe the saying "Any press is good press" I do agree with it partly. In the case of the hacks of websites then I think it's good press. It get's the name of Bitcoin out there and to be frank Bitcoin isn't being hacked which would be bad press. It's the exchanges and services which use them mostly because a lot of start ups are appearing and accepting Bitcoin and they neglect certain security precautions.
5629  Other / Meta / Re: A personal thank you to the mods on: March 13, 2018, 09:28:49 PM
I really think that a lot has improved since the new system has started. People are trying to make constructive posts and moderators are starting to their job and delete insignificant posts on some threads. Some people who were caught cheating on the forum has their red mark on their profile. I know that the forum still has a lot to improve and everyone is doing a great job.

It's not that they've just started, it's the increase in posters trying to earn merits. They've always done their "job" and have just struggled with the constant battle with spammers and account farmers. It would be interesting in a few months time to compare the amount of people registering on the site now and compare it with the registrations before the merit system was introduced.

Even if account farmers still exist as long as they are contributing to the forum by posting quality content then there's no real issue with me.
5630  Other / Meta / Re: A personal thank you to the mods on: March 13, 2018, 02:10:05 PM
Remember, they are volunteers and are volunteering for several hours a day all for the betterment of the forum. I'm sure they appreciate a thank you from time to time especially because they seem to be abused by the people they are trying to contain.

I regularly look through the modlog and the work they put in is nothing short of great. Don't forget to anyone wanting to thank the mods the best way to help them is by reporting anything that you see that's against the forums guidelines.
5631  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to find good paying bounty? on: March 11, 2018, 11:06:11 PM
It shouldn't be about the pay. You should be supporting the project for what it is and what you believe in. A project which lasts a long time and pays low will likely be more profitable in the long term than one that pays high but, turns into a scam etc.

Pay should be the last thing that plays a part in whether you join a bounty and that's what is wrong with the current situation we have on our hands.
5632  Other / Off-topic / Re: How wars can affect Bitcoin? on: March 11, 2018, 10:58:00 PM
Unless people are looking to invest into something to store their assets in something other than traditional currency to avoid any issues with fiat currencies being affected by war. I don't think Bitcoin itself will take much of a impact directly from war it will be more of the impact it has on traditional currencies and what the people invest into.
5633  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Microchip wallets and Implants😱😱😱 on: March 11, 2018, 10:55:21 PM
Nah I'm alright. I'm not sure why you would want to do that as I don't see the benefits of it, and to be honest is nothing but a gimmick. Just curious how much would this piece of kit actually cost? Would like to hear a medical professionals input on this too.
5634  Other / Meta / Re: THEYMOS , CYRUS = Scammers on: March 11, 2018, 10:49:05 PM
Trying to get their attention via that title isn't going to get them to do it any faster you know that right? If you've sent all the required information just wait and don't expect them to do it within days as there's several other people before you that have been waiting a few months.
5635  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestion: Make report stats public on: March 11, 2018, 10:41:34 AM
When you say making the forum cleaner, you have seen the garbage, report them. if there are too many for you to handle, convince administration to charge a fee per post if a member has 10 consecutive garbage posts. who would determine if they are garbage or not? merit sources. if merit sources are trusted to reward quality, you should trust them with stopping the ones posting garbage.

This would limit too many legitimate users I think personally not everyone can come out with quality replies straight off the bat having just entered the world of cryptocurrencies. If it's literally just posting "Thanks" or "Great project" I would hope that if they had 10 consecutive posts like that they would already be banned. If they have 10 poor quality posts as a newbie I don't think we should be that harsh on them and require them to pay a fee. I've certainly made poor posts in my time here and so as many others.
5636  Other / Meta / Re: Using someones email address on: March 11, 2018, 10:27:33 AM
I'm not sure I understand this. If they use your email addy to join something, won't they have to confirm tha ddress by clicking a link? If they can't receive the mail, then they can't confirm.

Isn't the easiest option just to write to the airdrop and explain the situation?
I'm never participated in a bounty in the altcoin section, but I doubt they even require email verification judging by all the alt accounts trying to get into them. OP, you could report it to the bounty manager and see if they would be willing to verify that you are actually in control of the email and get it sorted that way.
5637  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestion: Make report stats public on: March 10, 2018, 03:39:26 AM
The current moderators are few in number and might have to deal with a lot of posts being reported on a daily basis.

Although, it has been stated by a few moderators recently that their workload is high right now I'm not sure whether they mean that their queues are large or that there just isn't enough time in the day to actually deal with all the posts are they come across. I think it was hilariousandco that recently said he's only dealing with reports in the queue these days rather than finding and dealing with posts himself. I may be mistaken in this though and I'll try to find the post in which he stated this.

Having special privileges doled out to some legendary users and hero members for a start would lessen the load from those moderators and make up for some increased oversight of the reported activity. Since the members who are given privileges also faces risk of losing out on their ranks and merits, it won't be abused by them to carry out any personal vendetta against users who differ with their opinion.
Being a higher ranked member doesn't really mean you know the rules enough in order to enforce them and doesn't make you trustworthy either. The same as reporting a lot doesn't make you trustworthy and judging by how long it takes to handle the reports that I put in it doesn't seem there's too much of a issue with dealing with reports that are in the queue, because it's much less time consuming than the moderators looking for them and dealing with them that way. This could just be because my timezone overlaps with a few others too but, at the most it's a few hours for myself.
5638  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestion: Make report stats public on: March 10, 2018, 03:16:56 AM
Nah, I don't agree with handing out special privileges based on users who have high ranks or even high statistics. I don't think merit is the perfect option either as it was introduced as a incentive and reward system for constructive posts, but just gave that as an example for rewards. It would make much more sense for users to receive Bitcoin/altcoin what ever for their contributions somewhat like how signature campaigns are run. Though, this wouldn't be a great pay and wouldn't be anywhere near the signature campaign rates, just an incentive.

To my knowledge once posts are reported they are dealt with within a few hours at the most. Of course this depends on what time zone you are in and when the moderators are available but, judging by how quick reports are dealt with I don't think it's an issue of not having enough moderators able to act on the reports it's the fact that not a lot of people report.

Take for example: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2166379.msg21740582#msg21740582

If we have a look at the last 120 days from that update we have some very big drops between users. Generally speaking if we had more users reporting then we would probably not see such big drops. I'm not trying to make those who had reported the lesser amounts on that list sound bad either 50 posts is awesome in the last 120 days, but I think if we had a list of the top 100 we would see a few users only reporting a couple of reports in 120 days. This is based on assumption, but that's why it would be nice to have a response on how many reports are posted a day and how many of those are good reports. If there's a lot of posts which are bad then it might be beneficial to post a topic with advise on reports. Again, I'm not saying those that only report a couple of posts are bad, as it's awesome that they are reporting at all.
5639  Other / Meta / Suggestion: Make report stats public on: March 10, 2018, 02:45:05 AM
I think making the amount of reports that a user has reported should be displayed somewhere in the users summary page on their profile. This should be optional and isn't enabled by default to prevent people who are subconscious about their report count or possibly accuracy being displayed publicly.

It seems that this stat is requested from time to time, and by allowing this information to be presented publicly could offer rewards for reporting driven by the community. For example, if someone opened a thread which encouraged users to report posts accurately and reward them with either merit points or some sort of other reward we may be able to clean up the forum and take a little workload off the moderators at the same time, though with the increase of reports this may actually create more workload though if it makes the forum cleaner and more infringing posts being removed then I think it's worth it.

Not only does this open the possibly of community driven projects to increase report count across all users by offering incentives, it also encourages users who are statistic centric. Whatever the reason for the user reporting, as long as they are reporting accurately it doesn't really matter.

I think a system like this could well be the answer to sections such as the altcoin board which is frequently overrun by spam. I don't think adding new moderators is the solution, rather it's increasing the amount of people reporting the posts when they see them and then having the existing moderators deal with it. Obviously, some input from the current moderators about workload would be appreciated and if it's the lack of reports which is the problem.

If there's any other ideas on how we can get more people reporting and helping maybe we can get this forum a lot cleaner and get some of the readability back that I'm afraid we've lost in certain sections of the forum. If this is too resource heavy have it update every so often instead of instantly even if it updates every 2 weeks or month it should be sufficient enough.

Edit: On a slightly unrelated note could we also know how many posts in total are reported a day? Good and bad if possible.
5640  Other / Meta / Re: I've started an english language improvement thread on: March 10, 2018, 01:57:12 AM
I assumed you are Welsh, so I suppose that does mean that you aren't really English!

It's a real problem identifying as a Welsh person and having it as a first language, but whenever I have to state I'm from Wales I'll either get the response "Oh Wales in England so you are English?" or "Basically English then" it hurts every time.  Cheesy Let's not mention how useless Welsh is in the modern day as less than 20% of Wales actually speaks the language and is decreasing every year (don't tell my Welsh friends that), but my family is quite traditional in that sense and I'm still glad I know it. Though, would of probably preferred to have English as a 1st language as I still find myself making basic mistakes when writing in English.

Anyway, I'll pitch in on anything that I can help with.
