4701  Other / Meta / Re: List of demoted Jr. Members who were ranked up again on: September 25, 2018, 06:40:45 PM

Yeah, I am also one of them. Normally I didn't post long posts before due to 5 reasons

1 It takes time to prepare good posts
2 I am not very good at English writing
3 I didn't care about my rank it was Jr. member and It was enough for me.
4 I believed senior users only exchange merits among them (I know that is wrong now)
5 I could still get knowledge from the forum without posting

So I didn't post much

But suddenly I was demoted to a newbie. It is really a shame. demoting from something, not only for this forum, It is for whole life. I don't like it. (I think everyone in the world ) So I just Started to create some post with my knowledge. It is pleasure to state here Now I have 4 earned Merits and I am back to jr.member. And I feel more confident with merit system and Now I know If someone really want to rank up it is not a big deal here.

You've brought up a good point. Not sure if its what you intended to do, but just because a newbie suddenly starts posting meaningful content doesn't mean they are going to continue to do so once they have received their targeted merit. Of course, a lot of newbies right now are creating threads in an attempt to get their merit to join bounties again, but not all newbies will have these motives, and it might just be the case that they don't want to be known as a newbie, and decided to ramp up their content creation.
4702  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cloudbet's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: September 25, 2018, 06:37:09 PM
Its exactly why so many people are predicting them to win it. They haven't even clicked, and are still turning mediocre performances into wins. That's the winning mentality they have, and as soon as they click I would be worried about facing them. You only have to look at the Reddit of their opponents, and its literal fear of getting smashed, and losing goal difference. A lot of saints fans thought it would be a lot worse. Seemed like Liverpool took their foot off the pedal in the 2nd half to account for their up and coming fixtures which at first looked a little daunting.
4703  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cloudbet's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: September 25, 2018, 03:39:58 PM
Chelsea game against Liverpool I think there will be no story here, Liverpool will have an easy win. Chelsea just run the ball against West Ham and did not create any real threat during all the game. If they play like this, they do not stand a single chance against a super Liverpool in this beginning of the EPL.

I wouldn't be too sure. They have a cup game tomorrow, and will both be able to figure each other out. If Hazard shows up to the game usually the rest of the team does. Don't forget Liverpool haven't exactly been clicking. At least their front 3. That's the scary part though. When/if they click it could be devastating. Liverpool have just been grinding out results which they never would of done last season.
4704  Other / Meta / Re: [Guide] Reporting effectively on: September 24, 2018, 02:44:54 PM
I wouldn't worry too much about your report percentage. Especially, now that you've lost some Wink I've probably got the most bad reports on the forum still. 200 odd.
4705  Other / Meta / Re: [Guide] Reporting effectively on: September 24, 2018, 02:29:34 PM
Now, all these posts technically answer the question OP has posted, but they certainly don't add anything new or original to an already 30 page discussion. In my opinion, all these deserve to be trashed, but I can only assume posts like these aren't being trashed, otherwise they wouldn't be literally everywhere.

What's the stance on this?
You've probably got your answer since I haen't checked this thread in a while, my bad. However, if a thread is a breeding ground for spammers it will either be removed or locked. Depending entirely on the content, and how bad it is, and who is dealing with it. There's not real way of putting guidelines to it. Its really down to the discretion of the mod. The thread that you linked though as been trashed.
4706  Other / Meta / Re: My Hero account Badjacks99 was hacked. on: September 24, 2018, 02:22:04 PM
This is exactly the reason why online wallets/exchanges shouldn't be used. I haven't used coinbase, and doubt that gambling sites will allow you access to the private key, but the very least you can do is contact them, and see if they can help you out. Maybe, you'll get lucky.

But, without a signed message you aren't going to get your account back regardless of the proof provided.
4707  Other / Meta / Re: Writing a welcome message on: September 24, 2018, 02:20:14 PM
I also believe the message is too long.

Most new members (esp the ones who don't care about bitcoin) are not going to read it.

Make it around 1/5th the size and post a link to the full thing.

I'd even go into making bullet points or a checklist. So that its condensed down. I fear that including a checklist would just result in them ticking it like the normal TOS checkboxes that no one ever reads, but at least physically, and away from the internet checklists can be pretty effective.
4708  Other / Meta / Re: Why my main account was banned 7 days on: September 24, 2018, 02:14:56 PM
Your main account? Do you mean all of your accounts are banned, because logging into your other accounts, and posting with them outside Meta about your ban is ban evading. If you do other more than 1 account, then don't use it outside the purpose of talking about the ban in Meta.
4709  Other / Meta / Re: When everybody says “Merit” I'm asking: What about Activity??? on: September 24, 2018, 02:11:38 PM
Getting merit is very hard to get and can make you really quit. In my opinion, I think they must review the post of others that is good and maybe there is chance that can be ranked up as Jr member who is deserving even though have no merit.

Its really not that hard, and for sure anyone is capable of getting 1 merit. Sure, if you have hundreds of alt accounts I imagine its going to be a pain in the arse to get that 1 merit, but anyone that doesn't have alt accounts I imagine are going to be pretty much unaffected.
4710  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk.org YouTube channel? on: September 24, 2018, 01:52:38 PM
We all know that almost everything is already in YouTube. Probably some parts of it are talking about BTT, how they make money of having and account etc. Probably the best thing in my opinion is to make a video about the rules and have an official video to help and understand what to do and not to do, although it’s pretty obvious already but you know that some users are lazy to read. (Sometimes it’s me also)

Although, creating a video for the rules would be a decent idea, and could be implemented along with the registration message. Its not something that a lot of people will be that interested in. Bitcoin news, and other things are just going to get more people coming to the forum. Whereas the rules are for existing users or users already looking to sign up. Its a good idea yeah, but not for the angle theymos seems to be looking at, and thats driving more people to the forum.
4711  Other / Meta / Re: When everybody says “Merit” I'm asking: What about Activity??? on: September 23, 2018, 11:53:55 PM
It has been discussed before that activity shouldn't be counted in certain sections. Certainly, the bounty section. I would probably agree. But, it wouldn't help with the spam problem. People posting there have no issues with not receiving any activity from posting there. They are only there to collect their money. Activity isn't really the limiting factor anymore when it comes to ranking up. In almost all cases the merit requirement will be the hardest to fulfill. There's only a select few which would find activity a limiting factor rather than merit.
4712  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cloudbet's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: September 23, 2018, 02:51:28 PM
I was kind of watching whilst doing other things. They seemed to dominate the first 10 minutes or so, and threatened a few times. But, then West ham started to hit a few counters, and it eventually turned to a pretty boring game where no team had any real opportunities to score.
4713  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk need AI to control comments? on: September 23, 2018, 02:50:00 PM
Nah - the forum needs "H.I." - Human intelligence. Just people that post because they want to communicate intelligently with other human beings. Without meeting signature quotas and without regurgitating things that have been said hundreds of times before. To get rid of the shit-posters .... and they are working on it.

Unfortunately, there's not a lot of this going around. I think we'll see a great decline on the bounty spam, but we'll still see posts like this where people are posting topics in an attempt to get merit. Newbies have already identified that you'll likely get more merit if you are the op of the post, and this is exactly the reason why the forum has been subject to mass openings of new threads since the introduction of the merit requirement for jr members.
4714  Other / Meta / Re: Discover new title(rank) introduced by Jet Cash- "spambies" on: September 23, 2018, 01:29:27 PM
I find really annoying people who constantly bash newbies without giving any real solution to the problem they complain about.

I don't seem to get the utility of this. How would a derogatory rank name help in any matter?

There's been several solutions proposed the last few months/year. One of the solutions is the 1 merit requirement which recently got implemented. I can understand why people are getting frustrated with all the spam. These people who own hundreds of accounts to claim bounties are raping the forum of quality content, and flooding it with their spam.

Yeah, you get a limited number of automatic picks if you forget to makes your own. I guess they have all ran out. Not great since we are only on week 6.

It seems I keep overestimating United. In my head they are still this great team that beats everyone and is a guaranteed 2nd place at worst. That's just not the case at the moment.

Honestly, the way they are going. They aren't even going to get top 4. They look clueless in areas. Pogba had a decent assist, and Fred finished nicely. But, they are just so timid in attack. Lukaku just isn't a top 6 striker in my opinion.
4717  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cloudbet's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: September 22, 2018, 05:46:22 PM
Ooh damn I didn't hear about this story. I just know a few days ago he opened up about it, and that he had depression. Honestly, my knowledge of it is limited to the headline, because I didn't read it due to data issues, and haven't really been bothered to look at it as its likely just the newspapers spinning a headline off. I'll have to look into it later on.
4718  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cloudbet's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: September 22, 2018, 01:51:16 PM
Fulham did well I think. They were on the ropes for much of the first half, and only really threatened on the counter. I think Watford will be the more of disappointed with the result than Fulham.

Wasn't Zaha from United before? I didn't recognize him from his face and I looked him up and he recently complained about being alone in his time at Manchester and was even loaned out after Ferguson bought him. Didn't even realize until I read him up now that he's no longer an England player (how is it possible people switch nationalities like that??).

He reminds me a little bit about guys like Jermain Defoe. Always reliable to score, and always gets bought by teams like Crystal Palace. I thought Benteke would also be that type of striker but good luck to him. I have a small heart for those type of underrated goal scorers.

Yeah, he recently complained that the Man Utd board didn't give him sufficient support during his transfer to CP. Zaha is pretty damn good, and I stand by my previous statement he'll likely find his way into a top 6 team. He's always got the unexpected in him, and I feel he's not getting the support he needs in the Crystal Palace squad. Fortunately, their style of play suits him down to the ground though. He's very effective counter attacking.

Watford have had a really impressive start to the season. They are looking pretty good against Fulham, but they do look vulnerable on the counter attack. I'm thinking a score like 1-3 to Watford looking at this game.
