Don't blindly assume that all scientists agree here but climate change is real, it certainly appears as though this number has been fudged with by only taking the extreme weather.
This. Huge money has been spend to convince the world the climate is changing. You need to wonder what the motive is. That's the "right" side of the false discussion, as said. Comes from right-wing think tanks, Cato Institute etc... Divide and conquer. Machiavelli. That humans have impact on climate is obvious. That the cost is to be externalized to the public is not.

The public discussion of climate change is a classic Machiavelli. The "right" denies it exists at all. The "left" want to fight it by higher taxes etc. What is beneath the surface is once again the socialism for the rich. Those who cause pollution must be the ones who clean it up. But this cost is to be externalized to the public. This is the point that is never discussed. And this scheme has been going on since the beginning of the industrial revolution. Because of that, corporations were never incentivized or forced to develop cleaner technologies in the first place. Climate problems wouldn't exist in the first place if we weren't so dependent on oil. In fact our cities, our whole society is structured to promote today's car culture, to depend on oil. All this also protects the power of the military-industrial complex. Hemp has always been suppressed and demonized as one of the most promising and powerful alternatives, it would be too disruptive not only for the fossil fuels industry, but also for a lot of others. http://www.hemp.com/2011/04/hemp-to-potentially-replace-reliance-on-fossil-fuels/http://grist.org/business-technology/hemp-wonderplant/

people have to overcome the brainwash of 2000+ years of religion.
the world is not black and white.
BTC is a disruption. That means it's "evil" for some, and good for others.
and even for those who see it as "evil", it merely means it is a catalyst for change in their lives (if BTC makes many jobs of today obsolete).
about the "prophesied" "666" totalitarian digital currency, well...
Centralized, controlled digital currencies will come either way, no matter if there exist other P2P crypto-currencies like Bitcoin or not.
What they want is a digital currency system that automatically does tax deduction every time you buy something.
What they want is a digital currency system that can instantly intervene and prevent an Arab from buying alcohol in an US liquor store, or an US-American from buying Opium in an Arab bazaar.
What they want is a digital currency system that can lock you out if you're a dissident.
BTC is not that. And even if it becomes like that, the technology behind it is free, so there will be a fork with better privacy options that will be as rogue as Bitcoin today. History repeating.

this just came in http://www.latimes.com/science/la-sci-sn-immune-system-weight-loss-20140605-story.htmlWhen it comes to body fat, beige is the new brown- Scientists describe how white fat begins to behave more like brown fat. The "beige" fat burns more calories
- A new approach to weight loss may harness the immune system, not the gut or the brain
- Exposure to cold turns some white fat cells into high energy consumers. But the big chill may not be necessary

That's similar to one of the definitions of spirituality that I like.
Spirituality is everything that wouldn't exist in a world that consists solely of machines and robots of maximized "rationality" and efficiency.
They'd have no purpose for art, music, dance, everything that makes life "lively" and worthwhile for us humans (with a soul).
In fact the robots and machines should come to the seemingly only rational ultimate conclusion: To immediately suspend everything they're doing and just freeze in order to stop raising entropy and contributing to the heat death of the universe.
But somehow there seems to be more to life, to existence, which is hard to grab and hard to explain.

MaidSafe also will have some proof-of-resource coin.
Still not convinced such an approach can be 100% secure.
