583  Economy / Lending / Re: Request 0.01 btc loan on: June 03, 2014, 10:36:15 AM
Interest rate? Do you mean if I pass the 1 week deadline I pay interest or do you mean I have to pay interest in general?

Generally all loans (ala bank loans) have you incur an interest payment as a means for the lender to make a profit. I can do this loan right now for an interest repayment of BTC0.001 BTC after a week (10%). Just post/PM if its agreeable.
584  Economy / Lending / Re: Request 0.01 btc loan on: June 03, 2014, 10:32:57 AM
Please PM/post the interest rate. I am happy to fill this loan immediately once you do.
585  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Confusion on: June 03, 2014, 10:31:06 AM
Also do you believe NXT will replace bitcoin or will Bitcoin serve as " digital gold " ?

Any feature that has been added to an altcoin could just as easily be added to Bitcoin if it was deemed necessary. Most of those 'features' are just experimental options that provide niche functionality that doesn't really fit with the notion of a currency. While it can be used for more, right now Bitcoin's main directive is to become a globally accepted currency. On that note, the one thing that other coins can't replicate is the merchant acceptance and infrastructure built around Bitcoin - even Litecoin and Dogecoin don't have remotely as many businesses willing to accept them nor the ability to easily buy them as compared with Coinbase et al.
586  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Btc-Banker.Com new hybrid cloud, safe and profitable wallet on: June 03, 2014, 10:24:32 AM
nobody has come with evidence that we dont do what we promised.

That's because no one has been stupid enough to fall for your SCAM. What your doing is considered to be economically unfeasible, so unless you are operating at a loss - your intention is to act like a ponzi and wait for a large amount of deposits to steal all the coins. Want to prove your not a scam? Please sign a message where you actually have BTC1800 as you claim. If you're legit it shouldn't be too hard - takes about 5 minutes. Else your just a scammer and a liar.
587  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Has Apple opened the door for bitcoin apps? | #bitcoin #apple #crypto on: June 03, 2014, 10:04:13 AM
Well it certainly looks as though its been aimed at Bitcoin - what other virtual currency is big enough to qualify that developers would bother with a phone wallet? It'll be interesting to see what Apple does when the first wallet app gets sent to Apple again for approval. I wonder what made them decide to change their mind...
588  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is BitCoin faucets really worth the time? on: June 03, 2014, 09:59:22 AM
Read this.

Just out of reference - faucets are actually bad if you reuse the address with large inputs later on. If you don't have coin control in your client (only Qt has it) then you won't be able to specify which inputs are going into your transaction meaning that in all likelihood you may be choosing those dust inputs. The problem here is that dust inputs take up space without really adding to the value of the tx so you may have a crap ton of dust inputs meaning you get a nonstandard transaction that either requires a larger fee (usually more than all your dust combined) or you take a long time to get confirmations as some miners don't accept non standard txs.

If you are determined to use a faucet then I would advise you have a single address with the sole purpose of getting faucet payments - that way you can combine them all into a single output if you get enough to be usable without compromising the other coins in your wallet.
589  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Apple Approves Bitcoin Wallets on: June 03, 2014, 08:36:15 AM
I never quite understand the hatred some people have for all things Apple. If you don't like you simply don't use it.

IMO, people hate Apple because of its clear corporatism that is based upon trying to shark consumers with fancy ads, offering literally zero customisation options (you can't even change your own battery), and the fact that the system is completely locked down (unless you jailbreak). Not to mention, Apple consistently tries to ensure you cannot jailbreak. It would be like a PC manufacturer forcing you to use Windows even if you didn't want to. Just because you don't have to buy something doesn't mean what that company/entity is doing is agreeable. If you didn't voice your opinion about matters the status quo would never change and we'd all have the stigma and stereotypes we had a hundred years ago.
590  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Fee Depends on Node? on: June 03, 2014, 06:27:00 AM
I usually set the fee at 0.03 mBTC and ~80% of the time it goes through. When I am asked to set a higher fee, it won't go through below 0.1 mBTC. This happens even with transactions below 1 kB.

I wonder if the minimum fee depends on which node I'm connected to?

Yes and no. The fee is in effect an incetivisation for miners to include transactions in the blocks they find. However, the fee is dictated by the adoption of the reference implementation of the Bitcoin protocal (ie nodes and miners). A single node will not be about to change the minimum fee - it is a consensus from miners and nodes that agree to have a different fee structure that will lead to different fees.

At the moment, the current minimum default fee that is accepted is 0.00001 per kB. Anything lower doesn't really make a difference, usually the transaction will either be considered non-standard and take a while to confirm or depending on the parameters it will be taken as a no fee tx and still be confirmed (depends on your inputs/outputs and size).
591  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Theft from Electrum 1.9.8 wallet on: June 03, 2014, 06:21:40 AM
How can this be? If the thief had the seed he'd take everything at once. Isn't it likely he only had one private key at first and later discovered another key? If so, the long time it took indicates some brute-forcing? In theory that should be impossible, right? Unless he found a way to make qualified guesses.... I am no expert at all on this, so good if a developer makes a clarifying comment.

Highly unlikely that the private key was brute-forced. The private keys in a wallet have no mathematical relationship to one another - they are completely random (most are except for deterministic wallets, but even then you cannot determine the next private key without the seed anyway). If you want to be convinced it is unlikely to happen go search for that Dyson Sphere Sun photo that tells you you "Bitcoin is protected by the laws of the universe".

Far more probable is that his private keys were stolen and that when OP used the same address again the hacker simply stole the coins.
592  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Just-Dice.com : Play or Invest : 1% House Edge : Banter++ on: June 03, 2014, 06:16:05 AM
very impressed with $23 million invested at just-dice

keep up the good work

Only sad thing is that there are no whales (that I can see) who play with anywhere close to the max limit now offered. Also overall bet volume (in terms of BTC) has seemed to be following a downward trend in the last couple of months. Wish there were more players.
593  Economy / Services / Re: NEWBIES & JR MEMBERS Signature PAYMENT - NEW RATES! on: June 03, 2014, 06:10:04 AM
Haha. Blatant alts. Makes me laugh when they post in the giveaway threads and it's blatantly obvious to anyone with half a brain that they're alts - same registered date, practically the same posts/activity and posting style etc.

Yep, this is precisely why signatures were changed to so that for newbs they couldn't have links. It's going to be another useless spam-fest filled with poor grammar and illogical statements that add no value whatsoever. Just a note to anyone considering joining this - there have been signature advertising scams before (and it's more likely for ponzis) so be warned that you may not be paid.
594  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Selling steam games. on: June 02, 2014, 11:25:21 PM
Also I have never used Steam. From what I read: these are not CD keys or something, right? These are sent as gift with that trading system and cannot ("really") be reversed, right? Thanks.

Not true at all. The advantage of doing an in game trade rather than getting redeemable CD keys is that if the purchase is found to be fraudulent then Steam will reverse the trade meaning your not worse off. Except in this case, since you traded with BTC rather than in game items Steam will just remove them from your account and possibly ban it if it thinks you are an alt account. In effect, it offers you no different protection at all.
595  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: PBmining - legit? on: June 02, 2014, 10:11:51 AM
Top contract is $7000 for 50 Mh/s?!?!  You are kidding me?  If that is the case I will set up a cloud mining business with my Antminer U2.  2Ghs /50 Mhs @ $7000 a time = Kerching!

You need to do a little more research. Those prices would be for someone selling hashing power for altcoins with different algorithms such as Scrypt and X11, of which most have not had any ASICs developed for them and hence hashing power is comparatively expensive.
596  Economy / Economics / Re: Why the fuck do we still use cash? on: June 02, 2014, 10:09:24 AM
This is both true and false. Most companies base their prices on their overall cost of doing business. There is more than just the cost of materials; something people often forget about. There is a lot of overhead. If that overhead isn't met, it doesn't matter what the margin was; the business is going to crash.

Nonetheless, a lower merchant fee such as the one offered by Bitcoin would help to lower the overall cost of running a business (if only marginally). I have no doubt that more merchants would use Bitcoin for this reason - the only thing stopping them is the initial cost of implementation would cost them more than they would save as they don't have enough consumers using Bitcoin to save them that much money.
597  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What kind of cold storage do you use? on: June 02, 2014, 10:02:51 AM
Right now I am using USB offline storage. I am seriously considering shifting to paper wallet. But the problem is that I don't have a printer. So I will have to depend upon third party, which increases the risk.  Angry

I would advise against that unless those paper wallets are BIP38 encrypted that you do not give them to someone else to print out. Unless it's your family/most trusted friend that your willing to trust your money with I would just be content with a USB stored version. If you have a pen and paper you could also just write it down the old fashioned way - sure it doesn't look so fancy but it really comes to the same thing.
598  Economy / Speculation / Re: I heard Bitcoin was suppose to go to $10 today? on: June 02, 2014, 09:26:48 AM
Professors
Economists

I wouldn't over exaggerate and say that all professors and economists are pitted against Bitcoin. While quite a lot of professors hold a traditional view of the monetary/fiat system I don't doubt you'll find a few open to the idea, at least as an experimental concept in testing (which Bitcoin can be considered as at the moment). Meanwhile most economists can hardly agree with each other about what theory works with the current system so you'll definitely find some who are with the precepts of Bitcoin.
599  Economy / Lending / Re: ★★★ Offering Loans! [Up to 0.5] ★★★ on: June 02, 2014, 09:11:01 AM
Need loan for only 1 day
have steam with 22 games worth more than 150$
let me know

If you have giftable AAA games that you could gift as collateral I might be willing - but accounts don't really work for me as you can easily claim them back from Steam. Do you have any other collateral and how much do you want to borrow anyway?
600  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Understanding Cold Storage on: June 02, 2014, 04:07:47 AM
How about flash drive? Smiley

so do you mean if i using Bitcoin Core or Armory i have to download +/- 20GB to do one single transactions?

honestly,  Huh

done properly? like having antivirus in your system well updated?

A flash drive doesn't really work because at some point you still have to connect it to an internet connected computer unless your willing to run it off a LiveUSB version of Linux. Still better to have an airgapped computer for this (you can buy a Raspberry Pi for $30 which will do the job).

Yes, if you don't want to download the whole blockchain you can look at Electrum.

Yes, one such example would be blockchain.info which allows you to search based on addresses and transactions.

Yes and no, if you're properly air gapped you won't have to worry about any viruses getting onto your system.
