1481  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Help needed to buy bitcoin on: December 22, 2013, 05:44:42 AM
1 ) I have paypal , but that seems no good as I have no reputation ( is paypal ok to use as a buyer ?)

As far as buying BTC with Paypal goes I'd advise you read this informative post.

Maybe you don't know this but if you buy something with PayPalsucks or any credit card or any debit card or even by ACH bank transfer then it is very easy to have the transaction reversed.  In other words these forms of payment are all reversible.

In almost every way Bitcoin is the opposite of all other forms of fiat money.  One of the main differences is that Bitcoin transactions cannot be reversed.

Because of this huge difference there is an easy, often repeated, scam:

1) Scummy Scammer buys Bitcoins from Honest Bob.  He pays with some form of reversible money (PayPalsucks, credit card, etc.)
2) Honest Bob send the Bitcoins to Summy Scammer.  Note this transaction cannot be reversed.
3) Now Summy Scammer goes to PayPalsucks or his credit card company and has them reverse the charge.  PayPalsucks and credit card companies always side with the buyer.
4) PayPalsucks or credit card take the money back from Honest Bob.

Honest Bob is screwed.

This is why it is almost impossible to buy Bitcoins with either PayPalsucks or credit cards.

I only sell Bitcoins for one thing:  cold hard cash in hand.  It is the only form of government fiat funny money that is not reversible.

So, if you want to buy BTC then:

1) Go to https://localbitcoins.com
2) Find a seller near you
3) Arrange to meet them in a coffee shop, bank or police station or where ever you feel comfortable
4) Give them the cash
5) They give you the BTC
6) Everyone happy

I'm new to cryptocurrency and currently mining using a CPU on litecoin.  Cry

First of all, welcome to the forum! Smiley Next I would advise you not to bother CPU mining for Litecoins as you aren't going to make anything and in all likelihood either overheat or damage your hardware which isn't what you want. I would suggest that you look into the options of investing into miners if you wish to mine (depending on which coin you want) or possibly a buy and hold strategy regarding BTC.
1483  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Asic miners on: December 22, 2013, 05:31:05 AM
Most altcoins like LTC use the scrypt algorithm which means they are incompatible with the current generation of ASIC miners created primarily for Bitcoin and hence why GPU mining is still a viable option with altcoins like Litecoin.

There is no such a thing as diminishing returns in gambling advertising.

Gambling is all about whales. Even if you attract 99 players to your site, if you can't lure that one whale then you have pretty much failed.

Yes, there is diminishing returns... If you have 1 person advertising you'll have less reach than 2 people, and so forth, but by the time you get to 10,000 people (hyperbole to prove this point) the 10,000th person will not attract as many people as the 1st person did. There's a reason that companies like Apple while they do flood the market with ads, they don't do it to the point where every single webpage, TV advert and newspaper ad is entirely Apple; it simply isn't cost effective.
1485  Economy / Lending / Re: I need 0.25BTC -repay proposition 0.3 JAN 1 (Wednesday) on: December 22, 2013, 02:41:13 AM
Assuming you could make 10% a day then if you started with 1 cent you could get to half a million dollars in a single year. Let's be honest here there is no way your going to sustainably make anywhere close to 30% a day. The real question is then why's exactly you need a loan if your claiming that you can?
1486  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Now I understand the concern about PayPal on: December 22, 2013, 02:13:05 AM
Yeah my advice to you is to avoid eBay at all costs as 99% of people there are looking to steal your coin. Personally if you really need to trade BTC for PP then do it on this forum in small amounts and with people who are reputable/have a high trust rating.

Payment amount has been lowered decently due to extremely high demand, sorry for any inconvenience.

Well put it this way guys, Stunna is still offering the best sig campaign in terms of BTC per post made and it is technically free money. It's not surprising that Stunna would move to become closer to the values of other campaigns seeing as there really aren't any competitors still willing to pay so much.

Unlikely as it may seem, maybe this guy will actually pay out on the 25th of this month: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=345114.0. If he does, it will be the highest paying sig campaign and we may see a bit of competition.

^ This, and also pretty much every thread you look at has stunnas sig so he is also making money as well.

On the basis that Primedice is provably fair then his income is based upon the number of gamblers there which we can agree is an exponential decay for each additional person advertising. So his return per advertiser may diminish as he attains more advertisers, hence a reason for the decline in rates.
1488  Economy / Gambling / Re: Do you like my NFL parlay odds? on: December 22, 2013, 01:38:35 AM
Personally I don't follow NFL much but the one thing I do know is that anything can happen (ie it is extremely volatile). Good luck with your parlay, hopefully it hits Cheesy
1489  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Have BTC, need $5 PayPal. on: December 21, 2013, 11:37:23 PM
I'd be more than happy to do this exchange if you'd be inclined. Hit me up with a PM if you'd be interested. By the way, would you be able to specify how much BTC it actually is, as there is some variation in price at the moment.
1490  Economy / Services / Re: [WTR?] Scrypt Hashing rigs.. on: December 21, 2013, 11:32:19 PM
I would be interested in something, but I'd need special accommodations as far as payment goes. I've just started getting into cryptos and I have no initial capital to invest in buying currency, so I'm stuck mining from the start. Because of this, I need my "landlord" to tax my earnings as payment, instead of getting paid up front. I personally feel this system of payment would be alot more lucrative for you. If you can offer me a rig that can bring me 0.1btc/day, why not tax me %10 of that per day.
It seems to me that most of the people who want to play in the crypto market are people that Wall St is leaving behind. There's a few people that have struck it rich over the past few years, and a few people that brought in tons of actual dollars, but I'm willing to bet from now on, the large majority of miners is going to be people that are actually relying on crypto's to help pay bills, and special payment procedures must be made for them, or they'll disappear altogether from trading cryptos and the entire market will be just for the big boys, much the same way that Wall St did.

Idk, just thinking out loud. Probably a big hole somewhere I'm missing.

Yeah because he could mine the coins himself =/

Yeah, there's no real reason for him to do this when he could just mine whatever coin he wants himself rather than work with the complicated "tax" system as you describe. Also OP wants to be paid in LTC so yeah it doesn't work out unless you get him to mine LTC at which point he's still better off on his own.

interested on this deal

You do realize that this guy is actually a scammer who didn't follow through on the previous transaction as agreed. I would advise you to reconsider dealing with him.

Continuing with this advertising campaign. As of 18/12/13 I have made 466 posts.

Thanks.

If you're signing up for this month, please take note of the new formalities!

As I stated that I'm an rejoining the campaign before you enforced the new formalities, I hope you don't mind if I just repost with the correct format and count my 10 posts I've made thus far.

Sadly the Bruins lost Sad my winning streak is to an end. Well I'm still up for the week. 4-1 NHL betting.

Yeah, I had a +2405 parlay that I would have won if the Bruins had managed to win. Sadly it was not to be. Kind of ironic that the one I thought to be likeliest to win would be the only one to actually let me down haha.
1495  Economy / Gambling / Re: NitrogenSports.EU - Bitcoin Sportsbetting - Best Odds - Teasers - Mobile on: December 20, 2013, 09:22:49 AM
Regarding the nitrogensports.eu interface, would you be able to make it such that the box on the right that hold my bet slip moves down and up with me as I scroll along the page? Currently, it is extremely annoying to have to find the game I want to bet on right at the bottom then scroll back to the top to place a single bet and repeat that 20 times (especially for CF). It would be a lot easier if you could implement something like this.

If we say something like "Flaming poop outta muh butt" How do you know if thats contructive or not?

I would say common sense would dictate what is considered to constructive. If your post adds nothing to the discussion, or is completely irrelevant then it is highly likely that it is going to be thought of as not constructive.
1497  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What wallet do you use? Is multibit safe? on: December 19, 2013, 05:16:00 AM
As far as offline wallets go Mulitbit and Electrum are safe provided you make sure to encrypt the contents of your wallet with some password (make sure it is reasonably long with lower/uppercase etc). If you have a lot of funds it might be advisable to store you coins in cold storage (you should be able to find some articles on it if you google) and use another address/wallet for your day to day transactions.
1498  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Can anyone move my BTC using an old backup and old password of a wallet? on: December 19, 2013, 04:19:53 AM
Ah, I get it. So, they can spend my coins that where already in the wallet at the time of the backup / or before I changed the password (that part I didn't get straight), but they cannot spend the new coins that arrive there.

Thank you. The old wallet was hacked actually and they took some coins :/ ... but I have a miner still sending coins there (I'm going to change it after a few blocks) and I was afraid they could also get my new stuff.

Thanks again.

If someone has compromised your wallet it means they have control over your private keys of those addresses and thus any BTC in there currently and any BTC that goes there in the future as well. If I were you I'd redirect my miner away to another address asap as all you are doing is giving free BTC away.

nothing received as of yet  Embarrassed

You'll be fine, Stunna was very quick to get my payment out yesterday; I'm sure he's just overfilled with so many requests seeing as this campaign has become the biggest one by far.
1500  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BTC China will be closed. All Bitcoin chinese exchangers will be closed. on: December 18, 2013, 09:56:13 AM
Exactly what I thought.  People only do that if they are desperately in need to jump on the bitcoin train.
If this was true, bitcoin would be dropping a whole lot more. :/

Well at the time of writing the price has fallen to a mere $500 USD which is half of what it was at it's peak. Honestly, even if this isn't true (which seems to be rather unlikely now), the psychological effect and fear is leading to a severe drop in the valuation in BTC. If anything, it might be a good time to buy back if one is following a long term hoarding stratagem.
