981  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Hello, all my Bitcoins have disappeared from my wallet, any help appreciated. on: April 16, 2014, 01:03:09 AM
Anyway, is anyone able to give me advice as to how this was stolen from me?  Huh If I buy more bitcoin I don't want it to be stolen again, so I need to close the backdoor I left open for the thieve. It's scary to think that he got a hold of my encryption key, because It was intricate and would be difficult to just brute force, which leads me to believe that my keystrokes were being logged.

That is the most probable cause of your loss. My advice would be to scan your comp with your AV (or even do a full reinstall) to try and find the hole that left you open. Out of reference for future, my advice would be to use an old laptop/Pi to generate your addresses in and store them there as a means of cold storage such that you are completely air gapped (not connected to the internet). You can still run a watching version of the client (use Armory/Electrum) to create txs and sign them offline and then bring the signed tx online to broadcast. That way you can ensure that no one will have access to your wallet/private keys. And it's safe to assume that your entire wallet is compromised so I would NOT use any of your old addresses.

Ehh, feedback correction isn't really needed either. Kouye is not on DefaultTrust, you are - most people won't see Kouye as trusted while they see you as trusted.

I'm not on the default trust, am I?  I thought I was trusted by someone on the default trust.

Put it this way I'm seeing a +1 which is light green and I haven't modified my trust settings so that's what nearly everyone else will see. I think you did a bit more than just correcting the feedback.
983  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: || Bitcoins Doubling Service || on: April 15, 2014, 09:28:55 AM
Is it me or did OP read out as - "Gimme some coins so I can 'double' them. Don't expect to see them back." Obvious scam is obvious.
984  Other / Off-topic / Re: Father Let Son Die While He Played Online Games on: April 15, 2014, 08:34:17 AM
They really need to place tighter controls on gaming in South Korea - playing for days on end leading to the death of family is unjustifiable IMO. Poor kid probably wouldn't have gotten a good childhood even if he did survive.
985  Other / Off-topic / Re: The same bug also affected the forum. Changing your forum password is recommend on: April 15, 2014, 08:16:55 AM
It affected both (and many more sites) because it was a flaw in OpenSSL which is used by this forum and Bitcoin. It enabled attackers to access small amounts of data from memory every couple of cycles which meant potentially passwords and private keys could be exposed.
986  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Help would be really aprechiated here, some digits of password unknown. on: April 15, 2014, 07:57:36 AM
There is some advice and some scripts here:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=85495.0

Of course you should be very careful to read the code before you run it on your system.

If possible I would advise you to run it on your computer disconnected from the internet just to be safe. And I it works extract the private keys and use them to transfer for coins to another wallet you control. That would be best unless you're absolutely sure you understand every line of code and compile it yourself.
987  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [HELP] ALT coins mining using a laptop? on: April 15, 2014, 07:49:09 AM
With that setup any altcoins worth mining will still earn you nothing and in all probability result in you damaging your computer. Old AMD cards from laptops are generally pretty bad in comparison to what the newer desktop cards can produce.
988  Other / Off-topic / Re: What torrent program do you use? on: April 15, 2014, 06:19:27 AM
µTorrent - sheerly for the options it provides plus being able to set-up a proxy without too much hassle. The only annoying thing is the ads although those are quite easily removed.
989  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Some online gold dealers will not accept tumbled or shared coins on: April 15, 2014, 06:16:36 AM
How exactly they determine they have been tumbled?

Having your address in a tx with like 50 different recipients might give it away. Although honestly, I don't see how it really has to do with AML/KYC procedures given that even with standard txs no one really knows where its coming from and who its going to anyway.
990  Other / Off-topic / Re: I'm pretty sure facebook won't implement anything close to cryptocurrency. on: April 15, 2014, 06:13:54 AM
My guess is they will just do another mpeso, QQ coin or some old shi* like that. Centralized online tokens that they fully control.

You betcha that they will. FB has no interest in BTC unless it will make them money and for them they'd make more simply making their own crap that they could promote using their platform.

What does it mean when you click "roll" and nothing happens?  Refreshing doesn't help.  First time I've ever seen anything like this.

Try clearing your cache and restarting your browser. I don't think it's a server side problem - so it's probably you.
992  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Facebook as a bank with a crypto currency on: April 15, 2014, 06:00:06 AM

Thanks for that.

It's all speculation.
My guess is they will just implement some sort of stupid their own virtual tokens like mpeso or the chinese q coins or something.
Don't see them as so forward thinking, especially when his "friends" the twins are much into it.

Yeah from what I'm reading, it seems just like another one of the FB Credits idea except on a somewhat larger and grander scale. I'm definitely doubtful now that it will be crypto-related in anyway let alone Bitcoin considering that I don't think they'd work with the current frameworks and system in place.
993  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Facebook as a bank with a crypto currency on: April 15, 2014, 05:48:25 AM
Heard from news that it will be possible to deposit money into FB and change to a crypto currency.
Will they get their own crypto currency or do you think that they will adopt btc?

Not too sure where you're getting your news from. Would you mind linking me to the article? I'm highly doubtful they'd let you deposit fiat for BTC considering they'd need to pass quite a few checks and regulation to act as exchange of sorts. I don't think they'd really do either TBH - I doubt they'd integrate BTC unless it became huge.
994  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Brainwallets how to use? on: April 15, 2014, 05:36:15 AM
How so?  Not enough entropy? Or are there other pitfalls?

That's the main problem. Humans aren't random enough to produce a string of words that have enough entropy not to be brute forced by a computer. So mostly any funds placed in a brain wallet are taken nearly instantaneously by someone who has simply brute forced their way to private key.
995  Economy / Services / Re: PB Mining -- 5 year mining contracts! on: April 15, 2014, 05:33:45 AM
i can give a reasonable estimate for ~christmas time : if you don't have 10TH/s running, don't bother.
 Cheesy

signed - the raskul.

In this particular instance, profitability is irrelevant to the amount invested as each unit of investment will give you a specific unit of return that doesn't shift according the amount invested. Sure there are difficulty shifts but those will affect all units of investment and hence are irrelevant. Basically, having 1 GHs and 1 THs will give you the same % return on your investment.

On the topic of profitability, without accurately being able to predict difficulty shifts it is hard to know whether you'll make a profit (and if so much). Most people assume a 20% increase each time but in the long term that may vary with new ASIC technology/reduced demand for new equipment etc.
996  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Why aren't AMD, Intel, Nvidia, etc. interested in ASICs? on: April 15, 2014, 05:28:43 AM
The demand simply isn't there. To us it might seem as if we are clambering to buy ASICs but in all probability we don't even represent 1% of the market that nvidia and AMD sell to. I can bet my last penny though that if we get to a point where we could represent a significant portion of their profits they will acquire and produce the technology necessary. Right now though, they're making way more from GPUs and rendering solutions.
997  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Information Overload on: April 15, 2014, 04:57:24 AM
Bitcoin is not for the average user.  Half the people in the world have below average intelligence - in order to understand Bitcoin you need to be in the other half.

Just on a small note, I think you meant median. The average may not be the same (and usually in the case of things with large statistical outliers it isn't) as the median.
998  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: have $5k paypal, want bitcoin. who is most trusted? please recommend. on: April 15, 2014, 04:54:34 AM
Is it troll ? The buyer using paypal ask if the people have btc can be trusted ?

Haha, my thoughts exactly - the irony of that post.

Anyways @OP, you'd be better off withdrawing to your bank account and trying LocalBitcoins from there as most people will not accept Paypal because it is so easily chargebacked. Not to mention you don't have any trust so I'd doubt you'd be able to find a buyer here.

I can't 100% confirm but I really badly want to have this ready for Saturday. Things are just being polished at the moment and we are making changes to PVP. I honestly thought this was going to come out well over a month ago though. I just want everything to be as smooth as possible.

My question for anyone who sees this is whether or not you prefer a fast auto-bet experience or a slower one like we have currently. I could potentially work some sort of slider that can adjust the delay under the auto-bet menu if people want more control.

Personally, I would prefer a slider to be able to slow my bets down as needed - but still maintain the ability to have lightning fast bets as well. I think that would suit everyone's needs best.
1000  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: question about mining with a R9 270X on: April 14, 2014, 09:58:57 AM
does anyone know how much bitcoin / watt the R9 270x can push out? im considering bitcoin mining when im not gaming and wondering if it would cover the cost of electricity.

There is little to no value in mining on such a small scale - you'll hardly earn anything and risk the chance of damaging your GPU which wouldn't be worth it unless you're still under warranty. Anyway you don't want to be mining BTC, try LTC or some other scrypt with BTC you'll earn ~ 0.
