581  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Core version 0.13.0 Released on: August 23, 2016, 05:43:22 PM
But don't you need to create a new wallet for it to be HD? and does it have a nice GUI that guides you through the process like Electrum and tells you to save the seed and so on?

As far as I know you need to create a new wallet and send your coins from the old wallet into the new 0.13 wallet or something like that.
Yes you will need to create a new wallet in order to use HD wallets. There is no wizard for telling you to back things up. You can backup the wallet as you normally would. Also, right now, there are no seed words. That has not yet been implemented. But, you can get the master private key through the RPC console.

Forgive my newbie ignorance please. I just finished downloading the blockchain that took like 3 days (bad internet_) if I am upgrading to Bitcoin Core version 0.13.0 ( am I going to have to do all that again?
You don't need to redownload anything. It will use what is already there. Do not delete or uninstall anything. Just download and install 0.13.0.

Hi how does this work then? Is this the right thing to do?

1) Backup wallet.dat from your 0.12.1 folder
2) Delete wallet.dat from your 0.12.1 folder
3) Install 0.13.0 and open it so it generates a new wallet.dat file (this is now the HD wallet file I guess?)
4) Sync the wallet, once it's synced close the client.
5) Now you have a synced 0.13.0 but you need to boot 0.12.1 wallet again to send to the empty new 0.13.0 wallet...

how do I continue from here? I need to have 2 different versions of Bitcoin installed at the same time..
582  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin make Banks disappear? on: August 23, 2016, 05:34:52 PM
Some people claim that the banks will never disappear since when Bitcoin takes over, they will just adapt and offer Bitcoin related services. This is not clear to me, I think there is no space for banks in the Bitcoin economy, it will be something new, a new service that is still an untapped niche, we will see.
583  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum Scam, prettiest lie ever told.... on: August 18, 2016, 06:08:16 PM
Most people i know already sold their ETH for ETC. There will be an huge ETC pump and after that we will see what happens with the whole Ethereum project in ETH or ETC form.
584  Economy / Speculation / Re: [Weekly Report] Bitcoin price weekly prediction on: August 18, 2016, 05:48:33 PM
Smart money will keep buying the dip once its low enough since in the long term 1 BTC will be worth millions anyway.

In the mean time smart money will also go to altcoin pumps like ETC and become rich overnight. Right now if you are not buying ETC you are crazy.
585  Economy / Economics / Re: What if US Dollar Crashes? on: August 18, 2016, 05:40:32 PM
There's people that has made a living out of predicting a dollar collapse that never happens. Sure you could argue that the dollar collapsed in 2008, but that is not what all those people have been predicting.
586  Other / Off-topic / Re: Will you quit your day job to go full time on bitcoin? on: August 18, 2016, 05:15:57 PM
I will not quit my job for bitcoin, as I don't have more scope to earn bitcoins and I am earning too low from bitcoins at a moment so I will prefer to continue with my job.

A legendary account with very little way of earning bitcoins, very convincing.

A legendary account does not give you anything much better than hero account in terms of rates. And rates are becoming increasingly lower. The only campaign with good rates is betcoin.ag but they have retarded ass requirements to get in, it's impossible to get in on there anymore unless you have no life and have been posting 24/7 for the last 10 years or something.
587  Economy / Speculation / Re: I will not Die Untill Bitcoin will reach at Least 50K on: August 18, 2016, 05:12:25 PM
It will be 50K in 2025 IMO

In 10 years we will be at 6 figures or we will not be at all. We need to be at 6 figures because that would translate in appropriate growth. 50k is not a real success but a moderate one.
588  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price will reach $4000 after halving ? on: August 18, 2016, 04:33:47 PM
When people was predicting all those high prices, they didn't consider that a bitfinex event could happen. Those fucking idiots ruined the good uptrend that bitcoin was going at. We would sitting on the low 1000's now if bitfinex didn't ruin it. Morons.
589  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Giving bitcoin a new name on: August 18, 2016, 04:17:32 PM
It's too late to change the name. Bitcoin is a really cool name too, we don't need a new one. The scamming and crime will keep happening no matter how many times you change the name, so that is nonsense.
590  Economy / Speculation / Re: $705 in 11th july? on: August 15, 2016, 06:56:19 PM
By december 2016, we should be anywhere at 700 1500. The news for 2017 look insanely bullish, and news always pump the price before the even happen.

I do not expect any bullish news for the 2017. The bitcoin core developers will not implement larger block size soon.
Larger block size is not bullish, segregated witness, sidechains, confidential transactions, those are bullish. Hard forks are bear due the risk. We saw ETH already going to shit due hard fork.
591  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price will reach $4000 after halving ? on: August 15, 2016, 06:47:14 PM
The rise to 4 figures will have to wait for a while, but we will see 4 figures in 2017 for sure, it will be fun seeing all the guys that panic sold.
592  Economy / Speculation / Re: 350 USD in August on: August 15, 2016, 06:25:22 PM
Yes people who have lost their money in scam will not forget it easily as they have lost their hard earned money in it and they will prefer not to invest anytime in those sites.

People haven't actually lost money yet, because they have been given BFX tokens. They can always wait for them to be redeemed, if Bitfinex recovers. Of course, these people won't be investing additional money any time soon.

Its really hard to digest when you loose your money in such scams and if you have invested all your money then it may make you bankrupt which can affect even your family.

It would be really hard to move on when you are experiencing  such big loss because you wouldnt know  what thing would you do next. You will back to zero and start from the beginning  and the hardest part is when that money you invest  on those scams are  those money you just borrowed or loaned from others.

That is the reason I do not invest in HYIP. They are too risky and most of the them are almost certain scams.

Only a find end up shinning. I didn't invest in the Ethereum ICO because I thought it was a scam and it went up to 10 dollars.
It ended up being a scam tho as we are seeing with the hard fork disaster, but it at least pumped hard.
593  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: actual number of people using Bitcoin? on: August 15, 2016, 06:24:01 PM
The estimation is calculated by the amount of transactions being done. We cannot know a certain accurate number, but we can know that its only going up.
594  Economy / Exchanges / Re: OKcoin - illegal business/money laundering - Judge rules on: August 15, 2016, 06:07:05 PM
Thanks for posting this! I try to comb through 8btc but it can be quite the headache when you don't read Mandarin. Cheesy

I've always thought Okcoin was shady. First, it was volume pumping allegations, then bucket shop/trading against users/skipping orders allegations. Then the CTO admitting that they gamed the proof-of-reserves audit, and that they trade against users with money unbacked by real assets. They have a real shady corporate structure too, shady people involved (criminals).

can you imagine that Okcoin "owns" 80% from BTC trades? Smiley   The world is up side down. The fraudsters are ruling BTC and the people are OK with that.

They keep depositing the money into a DEEP shit whole like Bitfinex even Bitfinex stole their funds; they use unlicensed exchangers and then...they are winning on forums that their money are gone and someone must help them Smiley

That is the beauty of bitcoin, it's hardcore self responsibility. If you dont want to get scammed, understand that all exchanges are prone to being "hacked" unless they are decentralized.
595  Other / Off-topic / Re: 2017 Year of the Bitcoin on: August 15, 2016, 05:56:49 PM
There is a lot of promising stuff to look forward for the year 2017. I can't wait for all the improvements that are being deployed soon. Don't miss Andreas Antonopoulos in Joe Rogan podcast in September, im sure he will explain it all.
596  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin down 1.22% on: August 15, 2016, 05:52:32 PM
It was expected after such an uptrend, we are coming from the 475 ish low from the Bitfinex disaster, we recovered fast and now some people is scared to hold for any longer and are panic selling. Same happening with ETC. Just bought more cheap ETC to benefit from it. Short sighted people are truly morons.
597  Economy / Speculation / Re: $705 in 11th july? on: August 12, 2016, 04:40:05 PM

598  Economy / Economics / Re: Why You Should Never Sell Your Bitcoins Ever on: August 12, 2016, 04:32:47 PM
I will only sell when selling 50% of my bitcoins retires me for life in a luxurious way, keeping the other 50%. So about 2025.
599  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETC (Classic Ethereum) presented their Declaration of Independence on: August 12, 2016, 04:26:43 PM
I would like to see ETC staying PoW and let ETH go PoS... I think PoS will be a disaster like all other PoS coins ever, long term something always goes south.
600  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / ETH Foundation was basically caught trading stolen coins in exchanges on: August 12, 2016, 04:12:39 PM
http://cointimes.tech/2016/08/12/etcdao-stolen-coins-frozen-by-exchanges-was-sent-by-ethereum-foundation-developers/

What's even more pathetic is they try to give any explanation towards what seems obvious: They were about to dump ETC for ETH, but Poloniex became aware those are stolen funds and froze their coins.

I don't get how ETH is still alive after so many fails and scammy behavior.
