We need more guys with ASICs to join, we could probably do 1 billion credits per day easy.

622  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should The Marijuana Industry Embrace Bitcoin? on: February 15, 2015, 12:34:59 AM
LOL I think it still is. Smiley

For many people marijuana=crime.
Yeah well, it's time for that to change.

For many people in the early 1990s, internet = some nonsense cyber toy for nerds.

Do not forget that the majority of internet traffic in the early years was for the consumption of pornography.

625  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should The Marijuana Industry Embrace Bitcoin? on: February 14, 2015, 08:41:32 PM
Yep, the boomer generation is a problem that needs to be dealt with, they are ignorant and closed minded unfortunately. They also trust everything the TV says!

For many people marijuana=crime. Places where marijuana is legal are very rare. So I would be very cautious in connecting these two things. For average Joe who does not have clue about bitcoin it would be very easy to connect shady substances with illegal sources of money etc. What can lead to bad press for bitcoin...

I agree. I'm all for legalization and believe it is Looooong over due. However, The foundation of Bitcoin is still very new and if we want to continue
building it stronger we should keep it clean. I live in a small town in Michigan, where medical use is legal and the older generations don't embrace that.
Also, I am one of a few in a population of about 2000 people who even know what bitcoin is!!! Now, go and tell these people we can use this new form
of currency to purchase weed over the internet or local providers and watch the REEFER MADNESS set in!!! They will hang our Bitcoin
in the town square and stone it!!! And this is one of thousands of small towns with "older ways" of thinkin'. Plus let us not forget these are the people who
run the court house and sit in the chairs at our state senate!!! First we need--- Bitcoin acceptance.
626  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Gridcoin - Official PR Information regarding Proof Of Research on: February 14, 2015, 01:20:03 AM
If we can get Koinify to accept us, that would be superb. We can definitely hire some more developers, that would speed things up quite a bit.

Please help Gridcoin today with your vote on reddit!
Only a few hours are left and we are heads up with another team,
please dont let us miss this media bushfire for the next big open source blockchain technology.

We’re Team Koinify: Help us choose the next crypto / dApp / open sourced project you’d like to see community crowdfunded!

campaign text:
 submitted by TeamKoinify

Hey /r/Bitcoin,
Team Koinify here. We’re a marketplace for decentralized applications (dApps), running crowdfunding campaigns to help fund dApp projects.
As a giveback to the community, we’d like to run a donation-based, zero-fee crowdfunding campaign for an open-sourced crypto project to help with their exposure and funding. We’re now crowdsourcing the most attractive and impactful project in the ecosystem.
This crowdfunding campaign will have no fee, but still vest on our milestone based fund release structure, such that developer will have fully aligned incentives to deliver after the crowdfunding ends. We want to leverage our connections and influence for the greater good by helping an early stage project emerge from the shadows. It will be 100% donation driven, with all the money going directly to the team. Koinify will do its customary and expected due diligence on the team and the project, vetting and ensuring they are worthy of the campaign.
What do you see as one of the most potentially disruptive areas/projects? Is it crypto infrastructure, is it a dApp, or is it an open sourced protocol? What project do you think will help push the crypto community forward as a whole?
Let us know in the comments below by telling us which project or team you’d like to see a crowdfunding campaign for, and why you believe they should be picked for the crowdfunding campaign. The raised BTC goal and time constraints will depend upon the project that is chosen by the community.
We will leave this thread open for 48 hours. After 48 hours, we will count the number of comments / votes. Let us know, and we can get this running as soon as possible.
Examples: BitMesh, DarkWallet, BitSquare, FactomLinux, etc. Projects that haven’t received VC funding, are open sourced, and that would help our community and ecosystem grow stronger.

There has been so much bad press already with the silk road I don't think a bunch of medical dispensaries accepting Bitcoin would do any damage, quite the opposite I would argue.

hahahah very funny!

Looks like, acounts traderman, Wekkel & bitcool were hacked or bought, to pump Litecoin.

Pretty sad.

631  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Litecoin - a lite version of Bitcoin. Launched! on: February 12, 2015, 04:42:35 PM
Litecoin will be the second crypto to be mass adopted after Bitcoin, that is why people are accumulating.
632  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: The First P2P Fiat-Bitcoin Exchange? on: February 11, 2015, 02:17:40 AM
You gotta watch the explainer videos for Bitsquare to get the whole picture. What he is saying is that in the event of either party doing something to screw up the trade a third party called an arbitrator can come up and resolve the situation.

This is looking pretty interesting, if these guys can actually get to a working exchange it will change everything.

http://www.btcfeed.net/news/bitsquare-first-p2p-bitcoin-exchange/

BitSquare arbitration system is flawed. It is not trustless and relies on Supreme Court style Human Court. This is pseudo-P2P. Dont get fooled.

can you explain this deeper? I don't get what you say
633  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: The First P2P Fiat-Bitcoin Exchange? on: February 10, 2015, 10:51:03 PM
I think the arbitration system might have some kind of rating systems as well, but at this point nothing is set in stone, so we will see how this whole project comes along.

636  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Silent War On Bitcoin Has Begun! on: February 10, 2015, 01:14:28 PM
I think this may have been true 1-2 years ago, but now days everyone is pretty much writing about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies. It is not fringe anymore and it is a direct threat!

I don't think there's any reason to get paranoid about banks trying to take down bitcoin just yet. Banks just like to play by their own rules and will shut down the accounts of anyone they don't like the look of or suspect may be doing something that they don't like. I don't think bitcoin is that big of a threat to them currently but it could be in the future.
637  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Silent War On Bitcoin Has Begun! on: February 10, 2015, 12:33:20 PM
Depends, the banks are bad news for just about anything these days. Smiley But if this account termination stuff intensifies things will get ugly.

Is this a Bad News for BTC Future?
638  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Silent War On Bitcoin Has Begun! on: February 10, 2015, 11:10:56 AM
I think the best way is for local communities to start accepting crypto for services and goods. At first start out small and then build from there. Fiat can be cut out completely, it is just no so easy at first.

The only problem is you need to have bank account if your employed, at least where I live, so hopefully Bitcoins get used more so the laws change and you will get chance to receive Bitcoins from employer if you dont have/dont want to have a bank account
639  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Silent War On Bitcoin Has Begun! on: February 09, 2015, 09:21:26 PM
Yep, this is the kind of shit that goes on behind the scenes. Think about all the shit that is happening that the general public doesn't know! God only know what kind of crap the politicians and billionaires are involved in.

check this out on bloomberg , hot off the press about HSBC bank labeled -

"Leaked HSBC List Shows Who Was Banking on Swiss Secrecy"

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-02-08/leaked-hsbc-list-shows-who-was-banking-on-swiss-secrecy

for anyone interested  Cool

kind of makes me think of Ross Ulbricht (alleged Slik road mastermind) probably facing jail time.. well what to these guys get at HSBC ? slap on the wrist ? maybe a fine ?
