641  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [9000 TH] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + VarDiff on: December 09, 2015, 12:45:11 AM
i moved on over to other pools 3-4 mths ago from slush to other pools & now @ K pool.

no support or reply me no likey.
642  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: December 08, 2015, 10:07:53 PM
buddy of mine told me next batch is already available for order but released in mainland china for now & delivery is somewhere in jan 2016.

the more you oc, the more hw error, rejects, dupes & others NOT accepted share by the pool even if you see a low HW error. do keep an eye out there especially oc'ing fans.

PLEASE DO NOT OC if you do not have a PSU with an output of minimum +12V with loads. i'd say +12.5V & up below 13V then prolly a tad with good results on both miner & pool side. let it run 12 hrs or more & find a suitable setting.

obviously keep an eye on the temps too. so far i think most find that the chip works more "efficiently" around the 60 deg C range.

GL to all & hope to see more results.

the more you push it, the shorter the lifespan.

always your own risk in oc'ing.

These miners will be obsolete in about a year  or two (MAXXXX)  who really cares about the longevity. Milk the most you can out of the hardware

And if milking them kills them after 4 months? Remember, these things are built as cheaply as possible.

although i do not own any s5's but lots of probs showed up after about 6 mths ?

i'm pretty sure the s7 would last more than 6 mths but imo the s7 is a much better build than the s5's.

just don;t overmilk it before roi & prolly some profit.
643  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [2900 TH] Kano CKPool (kano.is) from the cgminer devs [0.9% PPLNS] on: December 08, 2015, 09:20:01 PM
thx zach. pic is clearer now. couple of hours now. let's see how it goes when a block comes.

will be mining here for couple of days or longer.
Yes the ramp up is simply a side effect of the variance reduction.
The https://kano.is/index.php?k=payout page explains the details but I guess the simplest way to understand it is:

"Your shares (currently) take about 6 days to be paid"

You aren't actually being held back payment of the ramp until you leave, it's simply that the last 5Nd shares you submit will continue to be rewarded by any blocks found in the 5Nd shares sent to the pool at that time.

The number of days = how long the pool takes to get 5Nd shares.
Each reward on the rewards page shows "N Range" and the current one I'm doing at the moment is "139hr 20m 0s" or 5.8days

As the pool hash rate rises, that number will, of course, go down, but the "N Range" time will also increase with each network diff change increase.

thx for the reply mate. it's ok, i registered 2 accounts.

i'll stay for a week & see how it goes & wait for things to ramp up.

i'm sure it will improve.

now a block yeah ?

will test out the pool for couple of days. seems to be running good.

kano, i tried 2fa but it said invalid code Huh

i want to mine with 2 of my dc's but i want payouts to be sent to 2 different btc add's. can that be done under 1 account like antpool ? or for the time being i have to register 2 accts ? atm, i figured out is to register 1 account & the other just to use a btc add ?

what's the avg payout per th/s after fees ?

bringing small support of roughly 80 th/s. small but better than nothing. looking fwd to grow soon.

what was the hashrate?

200+ ms ping is it OK CK? or it's too much? will that be an disadvantage?

will be updating my node too.

been away for a bit. is anyone mining with s7 on p2p ? how is it doing ?
649  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Any Stratum proxies capable of balancing pools? on: December 06, 2015, 11:36:31 PM
round robin yes . ..

use time to balance them ?

eg: 20 mins each pool so it's balanced ?

can't mine all 3 same time.
650  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: December 06, 2015, 09:52:07 AM
So i have a batch 1 S7 that ever since performing the FW update form the site wont hash seems like after a hard reboot and leaving it for a few hours it starts to hash but if I ever power it down the problem starts up again. multiple reboots and nothing the main screen is dead See screen shot

I have also tried to login via SSH with default root/root and i get access denied so I can't even poke around inside to try and review the config files

Anyone had any issues like this or can offer advice on how to get in with SSH I would appreciate your help

It is root admin, not root root. s5 started the root admin thing. s3 was root root.

Thanks I got in but still can't get the stupid thing to start hashing
you use dynamic or static address?
I use static and 8.8.8.8 dns  (Google dns)

check the pool address, username n password with eyes wide opened.

could just be as simple as that mate.

yeah the DNS thing might help too.

try reflashing the few again?

PSU n cables all OK?

step by step n take it slow.

believe it or not happened to me once, 1 of my nminer was running fine then 1 day gave up. I tried Another RPI, PSU bloody thing won't even power on n I gave it a few smack n knocks on it using screwdriver & whoalla bloody thing came on & started hashing. although it's not an ant but who knows yeah. I woke the dragon up.

rich its batch 1,3,5,7
652  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: What frequency works best for Antminer S7? on: December 04, 2015, 06:15:45 PM

It is good for you as the 4000 watt 2x psu you sell has the ability to do more then one voltage.

In fact I no longer think atx psu's are worth using on the s-7 or the avalon 6  unless you have 120 volt power.

I think your adjustable units that you are selling for j4bberwock  are the way to go.

Yes I am excited to produce some and try them out.  The one demo model I got from him I had to send out to get the side/front panels figured out.  Should be receiving the PCB's and start soldering this week.

a naive question, perhaps, but are 2880W PSUs capable of slightly more than 12V or only 4000w "beasts" can do it?
I am just curious.

The IBM 2880's typically put out slightly over 12V, but only the 4K boards will have the option to under or over volt at this time. I believe J4bberwock has plans for more server PSU's that allow voltage control, but I'll leave that up to him when he's ready.

afaik, the 2000bb's can be adjusted up to around 12.5-12.8V & down to about 11.6V in it's original form. i got mine to 12.5V with loads at the pcie cables attached to the s7's. you can even go higher than 14V up to over 200A on the 2000bb's but will have to mod pins with pot + resistor.

the 2880w not sure if the voltage can be adjusted. but i'm sure that the stock voltage would be around 12.2V range. that i hope j4b can chime in.

i feel alot more comfortable around 12.5V on the s7's tbh regardless of oc or uc.

i think max is 13V on load for the bm1385 chips & also as per bmt recommendations.

i could be wrong .. someone with more tech knowledge pls do chime in.

i posted up some pics on the s7 thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1165628.msg13130691#msg13130691

forget about atx psu's if 1 wants to run s7's oc'ed. imo, the s7's are not built/meant for home mining anymore.

server psu's with adjustable voltage + 16 awg (or better) pcie cables is the way to go. yes 7 is enough to run an s7 but if you have 10 just plug them in & to be covered by the warranty.

those with high hw errors can try to just "save & apply" i call it a "soft/soft reboot" ? or a proper reboot then "save & apply"

temps over 70 deg C is high, do adjust fans. if fans or environment not helping, REDUCE those clocks. i think below 65 deg C is safe.

yes it is loud, yes it is hot so can't make too much complaints abt it, it's just the way it is.

fans are delta 12038, i have a few spares (ordered another bunch of them) tfc1212de & they're insanely powerful. i use them to cool down the server psu's & they're doing a great job, the noise is not as annoying as those 4cm high pitched fans.

specs :

Size: 120 * 120 * 38mm
Voltage: 12V
Current: 3.9A
Power: 46.8W
Speed: 4800RPM
Noise: 65DB
air volume: 190CFM
bearings: high density and high speed dual ball bearing
654  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: December 01, 2015, 10:08:43 AM
careful abt UC/OC ... many do not have enuff knowledge or experience to do it.

1st of all the PSU MUST be able to supply sufficient voltage if one wanna OC or the voltage to be lowered if want to UC.

i see most of the guys here are using ATX PSU which does NOT provide enuff voltage even to run at stock freq's.

i think 12V + 5% is "Recommended" ?

ATX PSU can hardly provide 12V with loads.

again it VOIDS warranty.

get a good reliable PSU with adjustable voltage after the warranty expires then come back here & continue discussing UC/OC.

ah ha, also pcie cables that are being used. most are 18 awg. if 1 can afford to buy an s7 at such price, why is it that difficult to get a reliable PSU + good quality cables ?

i may sound like an a*s here now but just sharing & hopefully no one comes & say i shouldn't have done that & now my miner is burnt or exploded or my house caught fire etc.

have fun with the miners. just sharing my 2 sat's worth opinion.
655  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: December 01, 2015, 07:19:39 AM
why set fan to 75% or higher ?

@ 75% i'm seeing roughly 4680/4200 rpm

the chips still run when internet is loss ? if it does, it should be maintaining the same temp at whichever manual speed that it is set to, say 60% fan manual gives me a reading of 55/56/57 deg C.

if i'm not mistaken the fan max rpm is 4800 rpm, 75% is actually pretty close to max rpm of the 12038 fan.

of course if we can set lower fan speed will be good as it does saves some power, reduce some wear & tear too, yeah yeah yeah we all know about the heat & noise, but if one wants to save the miner then deal with the heat & noise.

just curious Huh

imo, if chips are below 70 deg C (roughly abt 10% before it cuts off @ default 80 deg C, the chips are rated to withstand higher temps but other components might not survive over long periods of time) are safe. i wonder where did the magical number of 60C or below came from.

certain chips does have an optimum temp to perform well, in this case me thinks around 60 deg C as there are others reported higher HW error if temps are too low.

just my 2 cents.
656  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: November 30, 2015, 03:29:41 PM
My first 3 x S7s are very hashing well - except for one unit with a "woooo...wooo..." sound coming from the intake fan.

Did you try easing the screw(s) just a little-this seemed to help many. I would look at it and see first if they are so overtightened that fan plastic is a bit distorted (I have seen it), then would start with just one screw at first (quarter of a turn or even less), then do the direct opposite, then proceed with other 1-2 if needed. I had to ease just one fan screw on B1 for it to stop making a similar sound.

Tried all of that but did not help.

I recall a post that "just stuck a piece of tape" to fix it, .... but still no cigar

Now, I have reduced the fan to 55% and that kind of eliminated 95% the annoying sound - that fan speed gives me about 65-67c during day and 59-61c at night.

1 of the s7 b5 has this sound too but if fan is 65% & below it is not that loud but still very noticeable.

tried the screw trick no joy. i glued a small heatsink on the right side of the grill that lowered the woo woo woo sound but still there.

any other solutions ?

imo, better wait for next batch.

Batch 7 is gone & sold out so forget about it.

batch 8 the least efficient just sold out too.

now wait for next batch.

pay upfront & wait for delivery.

@ CK, is the best share meant to reset to "0" whenever someone hits a block & bestever to remain ?

my "bestshare": 44363102898.412689 couple of days ago but i think recently someone hit a block ?

GL to all !!!
Bestshsare does reset for everyone when the pool finds a block, and bestever doesn't reset. The last block found on this pool was 1 day 14 hours ago. However if your user or worker was offline when the block hit or across the last pool restart then it may not have had its stats updated at all.

thx mate, that's why i thought it was my side ... no luck solo'ing grrrrr

will be back soon for lucky draw.

anyone tried 12.5V n up ?

@finsky , @tupsu ?

results ?

@citronick , where in asia ? i have some psu's available next week.

ysl, I am in SG

what PSUs compatible? OEM ones?

whats the safe power cord to use for the 1600w 240v PSUs?

I couldn't find a reliable supplier for bulk purchase.

hey i'm just across the causeway but a little further up but below genting lol.

u can try server psu's like the one tupsu uses, i use them too. lots of power + adjustable voltage. the only issue is cooling it for most people.

2 x 2 2000bb's can power 3 x s7 comfortably with or without a breakout board or not.

power is TOO expensive in sg mate ... no point mining in sg, you will not even make roi imo.

please use good quality pcie cables. most of us are using custom made ones. try to find 16 awg cables. if you can't find them i have some spares. i have some spare server psu's too.

@ tupsu, i got mine at 12.5V with load. much better than stock voltage. less or no hw error, stales, dupes, RUBBISH. thx for the info mate. i might up it a little according to BMT suggested : 12V + 5% = 12.6V with load plugged in when miner is mining.

i'm waiting to see when the 90 day period ends & there must be some crazy people out there.
