now price exp vs mining back at first launch not worth at all for miners, just remove it from pool
and good bye for eximpanse  Roll Eyes

Miners will move around and that is just fine. Plenty of hash on EXP and you are just being silly.

I have to admit I really don't mind it at all. Average EXP per day mined should start going up soon for those of us still mining.
643  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Expanse (EXP) - Fair Launch, No ICO, Community DAO, based on Ethereum on: September 21, 2015, 03:09:49 PM
Great wallet, price around 20k is real price Smiley

haha, meanwhile devs telling people it's ok to buy at 200k.

James is great guy with high ethical standart, please dont tear his words out of context.
thank you.

Thank you.

"Best not to panic buy" - That means don't buy at the top or with emotion. I never suggested a buy on EXP a single time in fact. I even stayed out of all the trollboxes so I would not be even tempted to help with any hype. I did however suggest that it might be profitable to mine. It was and I believe it still is. Trying to FUD over a very rational balanced post made when the charts were still unclear, is really trying too hard. People need to take responsibility for their actions. They take the risks but they get the rewards, that is how trading works.

"I won't make any predictions"  - I think that is quite clear, I never made any for price, not once.

"I don't think you should worry much" - That is true, this is a long term project, and while this is personal opinion I think we will do fine over time. That however does not imply any buying or selling advice, that is just a general comment on the future of the project and a personal opinion.

Also, why edit out the time for this screenshot? So you can mislead people and they can't check the charts then? Exactly.

Bitcoinsandiego:

The reserve is mostly for 3rd party development long term, not the founders, and really just enough for the team to cover the time spent and so the pace can be competitive. While you may believe no reserve/premine is needed with an ethereum fork, that could true if we are not producing much new content or planning on making it last a long time, or if we had an ICO or ninja launch instead. We did not. I personally think it is wonderful to try different things and see how they turn out way down the line. For example, we don't have any bad feelings for the other two ETH forks and we think they are also interesting experiments trying slightly different strategies. We think we have the best strategy of course, but we will also get to prove it out over time and others can see.

If you are talking about a project to last years and not a short term one, funding is needed or people just move on.  Franko and I have a lot of experience with this sort of thing, knowing how much funding is needed for getting things done in cryptos and advancing, and what people generally ask for to complete additions. For the quality and amount of development we want to bring to the project, the reserve was carefully chosen based on that. Most of that will be connected to votes and a DAO, a decentralized autonomous organization. This is no easy undertaking and extremely time consuming, but if it is successful this could provide new innovations in cryptos.

I think price speculation is interesting as a trader and miner myself, but clearly if people bought low early on, or mined any time really, they made out quite well. I started mining almost 8 hours late dealing with discussions and working on various elements, only using 4 GPUs, and I mined about .4 BTC worth in a few days. This was actually the most profitable coin I have ever mined and I wasn't there mining at the launch. So I think Expanse is quite successful in that regard, for the miners. We have had an enormous amount of hash power. We quickly got on 4 exchanges, 3 of them major. Things are moving quickly.

I honestly think you need to wait a few weeks for any accurate price evaluations. Once we have the DAO and everything out there, proving with smart contracts exactly how safe the reserve is, and voting starts up, the rest of the key starting elements Dan is working on completed, and when new 3rd party devs start joining in, I think you will have a much better understanding of how long term we intend this to be.

how many coins is in circulation now? i'm not using 64bit windows console....

I believe around 330k available, give or take, counting the reserve that isn't being used until the future, and then slowly, over 11.1 million.

Everything has been sent to Coinmarketcap so hopefully they have it updated soon. Sometimes it takes them awhile.

Could you give a little bit more details. What goals are you facing

http://slack.expanse.tech

You can join the slack and see all the active discussion going on in detail.

I agree maybe a log could be posted or a rundown daily?

I was on the slack but as soon as you don't read it for 1 day it takes 22million hours (sarcastic) to catch up on what's going (so many posts etc)

I don't know if it's fesable or even something worth entertaining but can it be screen shot at a certain time each day and posted here for all to read?

Ps I'm always on my phone so haven't touched slack on a PC I even control my PCs and gpus via teamviewer on my phone that's why.

We were talking mostly about the Advisory Core, potential changes to POS. Some talking about the price. New wallets coming, things like that.

Much of it was related to the different technical options for POS, different algos, that sort of thing. Nothing finalized yet, just discussions.

People are free to join the slack channel and check out the discussions going on. It has been repeated many times, but the vast majority of the funding is for bringing in 3rd party devs, new tech, new partnerships, and will be slowly released over years. I won't predict any prices, but this project is interesting for those bothering to look past the FUD. It isn't about any one person, but rather the community and those that are joining in. Keep an open mind and watch.

Is average block time presented at http://stats.expanse.tech/ an average of the last XXX blocks? Or is it an average of all blocks found including the ones at low difficulty when Expanse launched?

I believe that is the average of everything, although the average for today was actually pretty close to 60 seconds. It seems to move around a bit, but keeps getting closer to 60 seconds as it moves on.
651  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Expanse (EXP) - Fair Launch, No ICO, Community DAO, based on Ethereum on: September 18, 2015, 09:02:14 PM
Finally a legit eth fork here.

It is but with the 10M reserve it already has a marketcap of 3.5 Mio$, which is quite alot...

I know... I think coin price might start to drop. This DAO should start hiring people at these high coin prices.

agree

If the price goes down, or way up, that would be taken into consideration later for paying bounties to 3rd party devs. In most all cases people will sell bounties for BTC and then perhaps Fiat, so it is critical to only use it on valuable additions. It isn't like 3rd party devs would get paid less if the price changes, it would be adjusted.

I think there will be a shit storm of ethereum/DAOs created that will do this exact same thing. I would like to see this coin move as fast as possible. Being slow and stingy with the funds will just lead to everyone creating their own DAO instead of working together.

Any smart person like myself will not buy this coin right now. The smart move is to wait until someone wants to dump their claimed bounty.

I'm already getting annoyed that you guys are not listing ideas with suggested bounty sizes for them. This doesn't feel like a DAO. It feels like your the boss and you will do whatever you want.

If we simply listed ideas with suggested bounties that would be missing the point entirely and acting exactly like a boss, although we have discussed countless ideas and plans in Slack already.

The DAO has to be formed before it can vote, and the first votes will be getting the Advisory Board elected. This isn't a short term or a non serious project, and anything funded has to be carefully considered and approved later by the community as a whole, not just the founders. If you want us to rush and just appoint people to the board, or just pass out bounties like mad, that just isn't going to happen. Certainly lots of people will copy these ideas, but if it isn't done right it won't matter for them and they won't last.

Sure, but you don't just throw money around and hope it works out. We have to form the DAO first before anyone is hired, other than Mike who made the logo early on and we just paid him from the initial team fund. (The logo was exactly what we wanted and he nailed it) So he is the only 3rd party dev paid so far.

To go into more detail, the DAO will actually vote on projects, Dapps, and everyone has to agree the value added to Expanse is greater than whatever sell pressure we might get from a bounty. Right now there is maybe around 200k on the market, so available EXP is rare, and we want to keep it rare.

This coin just seems to have so much more traction and interest than ETH and SHF.

Well done guys

Interest seems to be slowing down. This thread used to remain at the top of the altcoin announcements. I think it fell off the first page today. I think it's because there is no big DApp announced yet.

So... who is going to make the first big DApp for EXP?

I think it is because the FUD is slowing down actually, they were giving us a lot of free bumps. Wink

Now perhaps people are starting to realize there is nothing to worry about and the team will just keep delivering. There will be announcements in the future about other projects joining/using Expanse, I don't think there are any Dapps to announce yet, but they will come in time since we can pay them and advertise for them for free. Giving us a unique advantage.

I really like this DAO idea. It's almost like you are creating jobs for people.

Exactly, we will be creating jobs for developers, and others that can add value. All without needing to raise any money in advance, short of what we had to pay upfront ourselves at least. There is a lot of FUD over having a reserve, but a couple years down the line when devs are still being paid to develop Expanse, the decision will prove itself to be quite wise. I think we have a huge edge being able to pay for Dapps and advertise them for free to tens of thousands of people connected to cryptos and technology. Our goal is to have the most of course, and if you could get paid for it and with free advertising, and perhaps make profit with your own Dapp, why not?

A friend of mine runs multipool.us (the original multi-pool) and wants to set up an EXP pool there, he was asking if there is an open source pool he could use for it. Let me know and I can pass on the info to him, thanks.

How is this more fair than Ethereum?   11 MM reserve vs 12 MM?

It's strange that you guys paint the ico as something negative.  ICO investors take a lot of risk.  At current Ethereum price that'ss less than a 3x return.  I personally would not take that kind of risk for 3x with funds locked up for a year and a half.  Instead you guys use the code and claim it is somehow more fair?  Also, your 11MM reserve is much more of a percentage than ETH.  If you go POS after a year like ETH, most of the coins will belong to you.  Kinda like Ripple.

Anyway, I'm glad you guys are here as competition is good-- It' just asinine to call it more fair.

I think you are misunderstanding something. "Fair launch" was about announcing it well in advance and having a testnet beforehand, this is somewhat unusual for Bitcointalk in general, but has nothing whatsoever to do with the Ethereum launch, or the Ethereum premine, or the Ethereum ICO money.

Not having an ICO means we have to create the value for it to be successful, people can just mine it if they want. It is just a different plan, that doesn't mean all ICOs are bad. The DAO is also very different as the community will literally determine the future.

Open source platforms are all about using the best ideas and trying different things. That is what we are doing.

How many coins are mined every day?
If block time is 60s then 11,520 coins/day
Am I right?

That is correct.
659  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Expanse (EXP) - Fair Launch, No ICO, Community DAO, based on Ethereum on: September 17, 2015, 08:45:29 PM
The reserve is for funding future development, this is to create a long term self funded project. Projects that are not funded rarely last. This project could last a very long time.

The DAO will also vote on all of that stuff, so unless most people believe it will increase the value more, then it won't be released and spent. Even if some of the community reserve was released, it will be capped to only a very small amount at a time, so the reserve will last quite a few years and never flood the market. Expanse on the market is and will remain rare by design, even if some people do not understand it yet as the idea is fairly new using smart contracts in this way.

There is 100k for the team at launch, that will never be dumped, and whatever miners are mining now. Make sure and read the FAQ in the main announcement here if you are interested in understanding the project, thanks!

(I also wrote an article "Introducing Expanse" that explains the basics)

I sent coins to another address, source balance changed, but they didn't appear on target address balance. What is wrong? I can't remember how it work on ethereum, but I am pretty sure that exp.getbalance should display correct amount.

if you do get balance on the other address you should be able to see if its there or not even if you dont own the address since all addresses are "accounts" with "balances"

Can you teach me how to check outgoing txes from address using console?

Check the API docs of eth. GetTranactionReceipt but be careful with the results.. They need a few blocks sometimes

Thanks ocminer!
I checked my bittrex EXP withdrawal and the TxID is nowhere to be found in the block chain.
I tried it with a different (existing) TxID to check if I use the command correctly. And yes - I use it correctly.
Opened a ticket and waiting for them to refund. Does this happen often with withdrawals from the pool?

Yes.. That's a known Bug of all eth clones (and of course eth too). I hope it will be fixed soon, i am having a Script running over the transactions every few hours to check for the receipt / tx which makes Sure every tx gets out

So where do the coins go? Because both the receiving and the sending addresses don't have them...
How do you fix this on your part?

Could this happen when I use my windows go client? And if it does what should I do?

They re-appear after you have resynced - they're gone for the moment.

I'm "paying" that from my own coins currently and I'm resyncing at some point (on a backup wallet) to get the coins back.
It's quite a bit of work Smiley

You sure have popular pool for Expanse though Smiley
