former banker on Wall Street

Isn't everyone who writes about bitcoin or anything money like online a former Wall Street banker who decided to 'help the world'

You've made only two posts before this one. Really ?

Post a bit more and pad your post count before creating a website to spam peoples' inboxes.

683  Economy / Services / Re: Renting out my signature for month!! on: August 21, 2014, 09:52:59 PM
Someone wagered over 2500 bitcoins in a few hours not long ago. Not sure if he was referred or not. The thing is 60 btc isn't much (10 users wagering 6btc a month). Especially if you partner up in a pool, I may do that soon I think hah  Grin

The thing is, all the whales are already at PD.

Why on earth will they register with your referral link again ?

On the other hand, MICRO have already got 1.4 btc by getting just 18 ref (probably 18 whales lol) on PD3. Smiley
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=745779.msg8473663#msg8473663

He is a mod and one of the most active users of PD.

A lot of his time on the forums is spent on PD threads.

Do you honestly think you can compare to him ?

And you don't earn 0.2% per referred user, I was wrong. You earn 0.182%

To earn a typical 0.12 BTC per month, you need to refer 66 BTC of referral bets.

TL;DR: If you don't have a website/blog, it is pretty much a waste of time advertising them.
You will get nowhere, unless you know whales who want to gamble a huge amount and are looking for a gambling site.

684  Economy / Services / Re: Renting out my signature for month!! on: August 21, 2014, 03:15:44 PM
hello i would like to rent my signature for 1 month or couple of weeks

minimum 50 posts

you can pay me per post or you can pay me upfront!

taking offers!
Why not just keep the current signature with the reff link? It may actually earn you more if you will get your commision to 20% and you will be lucky enough, what i think that with 300+ posts a month you will be Wink

20% of 1% house edge is around 0.2% of total bet.

To be able to get 0.12 BTC :-

100/0.2 * 0.12 = 60 BTC

To get 0.12 BTC monthly, you need to refer people who gamble 60 BTC per month to primedice.

That is not really likely, as most whales that gamble that much already gamble on PD or similar.

300 posts per month just means that every single post of yours needs to inspire a person to gamble 0.2 BTC on primedice.

Again, not very likely.
685  Other / Archival / Re: Updated Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns on: August 21, 2014, 10:13:09 AM
The info on Win88 seems misleading.

I was taken aback when I saw the 2 per day post req. I'm sure most users are inactive for a couple of days every month.
They say that they have no strict posting requirement, looking for 1-2 posts per day on average, but not necessarily always.
686  Economy / Services / Re: Angry at the world and dissatisfied? - HIRING TROLLS NOW !! on: August 20, 2014, 06:27:31 PM
I would love to hire some trolls Cheesy

What are the rates?
Can I hire multiple groups of trolls...to troll each other, having them switch sides at certain points?

Lets say I have a budget of $100... what could I get?

More importantly, can one hire multiple trolls who don't know that the others are from the organization ?
687  Economy / Services / Re: Cloudbet Signature Campaign – up to 0.12 BTC per month for 50 posts on: August 20, 2014, 06:27:30 AM
Payment received.
Thank you, looking forward to another month Smiley
688  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does this brainwallet have sufficient entropy ? on: August 17, 2014, 08:57:23 AM
It's generally better to just make a good password as opposed to doing something complicated like this. AES can be implemented in different ways as far as how it uses initialization vectors and salts, and how key stretching works. If you don't know what that means, don't worry, but the point is you'll have to encrypt with the same program, or a compatible one, or the result will be different. This might be a problem if you try to recover your wallet a few years down the line and can't find the program you used.

I'm pretty sure I will remember how the wallet containing all my funds is encrypted , I'll probably write it down too.

Quote
Also, although in this case the 20 character password may help to add entrophy to the 35 character password, it's generally bad practice to use "tricks" in an attempt to add entropy. For example if you hash 1234 with sha1(), although it may make guessing harder, it technically doesn't increase the entropy of the password. Encryption never adds entropy since it's deterministic. You only get the amount of entropy that you put in.

Yeah, it seems like I had not understood what entropy means.
But overall , would this improve the security , by making it harder to guess ?

I need the second password also because I'm going to try to create a paper version of the first one , just in case.

Quote
I would recommend that instead of doing that you just make one good password of at least 16 characters (longer if you use a non-random password or passphrase). Beyond 16 characters IMHO the increased risk of forgetting your password by far exceeds any additional security.

It is non random , so I was aiming for 25 - 50 characters. I was hoping 35 characters would be enough.
689  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does this brainwallet have sufficient entropy ? on: August 17, 2014, 08:51:52 AM
With brain wallets the question of sufficient entropy is not so much as to how long the paraphrase is, but is more how close to being truly random it is. If parts of it contain words that can be found in any piece of literature (backwards or forwards - including the dictionary - in any language) then you are likely vulnerable. If there is not any kind of pattern to your paraphrase then even a shorter paraphrase could potentially keep your funds safe.

A word to the wise: using a brain wallet is very similar to using an address that was generated with a flawed RNG. It may provide some level of security, but you have a much greater chance of having your coins stolen at some point in time.

That's why I was encrypting it again.

Even if it is likely that my first key is not random enough , shouldn't the second key fix it regardless ?

Let's say I use an obscure song title as the first one and another as the second , shouldn't it be impossible to guess if both aren't very related ?
690  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Does this brainwallet have sufficient entropy ? on: August 16, 2014, 09:32:10 PM
This is not exactly a randomly generated brainwallet, just one I have thought up.

Step 1 :- 35 character key , consisting of letters , numbers and special characters
Step 2 :- Encrypted with AES encryption with a 20 character password
Step 3 :- Result is used to generate a brainwallet

I will also print a copy of the 35 character key as a QR code , which I can use as a paper wallet , with around the same security as a BIP-38 encrypted private key.

Are there any noticeable flaws ?
691  Other / Meta / Re: How do I set my security question? on: August 15, 2014, 10:30:55 AM
A hacker could get access to your account then edit all your posts where you posted an address, and delete all your PMs, and change email. Account not recoverable, unless you have the secret question.

He wouldn't be able to delete and edit posts made in the Auctions child-board, and deleting a PM from the Outbox doesn't make it magically disappear from the recipient's Inbox (and there are forum backups, too).

As malevolent said, the PM won't be deleted if one person deletes it.

It will be deleted if both people delete it and though they are backups, they most likely will not be checked for a single person.

Theymos has said in the past that you should send a PM to an account that will never delete it.

I recommend sending it to DefaultTrust and then saving the PM id.

What if VIPs were given the ability to choose their color, purple rainbow and more.
I'd buy that if I had a couple hundred BTC
693  Other / Meta / Re: Legendary coin color on: August 14, 2014, 03:49:56 AM
Gray and orange look the best.

However, orange is too similar to administrator rank.
My vote is on gray.
694  Other / Meta / Re: TIL Activity does not work on precisely 2 week intervals + interval timings on: August 14, 2014, 03:39:48 AM
activity gets adjusted every other Tuesday at around 9AM (Pacific Standard Time), from what I have noticed.

That's what the OP is about
On July the 9th it was at 9 am sharp on Tuesday.
The next alternate Tuesday had the change at 9:06:40

The difference between two periods is 2 weeks, 6 minutes and 40 seconds.

86400 seconds in a day / 400 seconds late per period means that every 216 periods, we will move forwards a day exactly.

TLDR ; Read the OP.
By October 21st 2022, the activity will change on Wednesday instead of Tuesday, 9 Am sharp.
695  Other / Meta / Re: TIL Activity does not work on precisely 2 week intervals + interval timings on: August 07, 2014, 03:30:57 PM
we just slow them down a bit

A bit ?

From what you said , with people making hero members in a day , it seems like the time taken has changed from a day to make a Hero Member to a year and a third. 420 days is more than a small duration.

The current system is pretty good, I don't see a post a day being spammy except in rare cases.

Okay maybe I should use "a lot" instead. Tongue
My main point is, there is IMO no way to really stop account farming and slowing it down is already the best we can do.

And yes, I like the activity system as well.

The account farmers don't work really well IMO.
You kinda stop trusting them when you notice that the hero member who wants to trade a lot has posted only in giveaway threads and random altcoins for a long long time.

Steam Wallet $5 - My offer $3 in Bitcoin
Steam Wallet $15 - My offer $12 in Bitcoin
Steam Wallet $20 - My offer $17 in Bitcoin
Steam Wallet $60 - My offer $55 in Bitcoin
If you wonder why I charge so little, it is simply because I feel that Bitcoin will grow to a very high amount and I would've actually made a profit but it is a risk that I can afford.
Thanks!

I'm going to 3-4 5$ cards then xD

5$ cards = 0.6 $ of BTC per $ ( A whopping 40% discount ! )
15$ cards = 0.8$ of BTC per $
20$ cards = 0.85$ of BTC per $
60$ cards = 0.916$ of BTC per $

Your order is all messed up , and you end up paying more per unit for the more you buy.

My suggestion :

5$ steam wallet = 4$ Bitcoin (0.8$/$)
20$ steam wallet = 15$ Bitcoin (0.75$/$)
60$ steam wallet = 42$ Bitcoin (0.7$/$)

I've removed the 15$ wallet , because it is rather close to the 20$ wallet (doesn't make sense to offer both)

Anyhow , I'll buy two 5$ wallets , send me the price and Bitcoin Address in PM.

698  Economy / Digital goods / Re: CoinJack - start your own blackjack casino! on: August 06, 2014, 02:46:02 PM
It's great to see quicker and quicker ways to set up your own website , requiring little to none technical experience.

For those planning to buy it , you can see how to adjust house edge to your needs here : http://wizardofodds.com/games/blackjack/calculator/
If you go for the lowest possible , you can give an edge of around 0.3% to the player (negative house edge) , and the highest possible is around 2.47% house edge. (I'm not sure if any of those extremes are possible with this setup , but it gives a brief idea.

The most significant option is the 3:2 or 6:5 blackjack payout.
The 6:5 blackjack payout significantly reduces house edge and for most highrollers , ruins blackjack.
699  Economy / Goods / Re: 🌟🌟 Bitcoin Shirts! | 20+ available! | $25 each 🎁 🌟 on: August 04, 2014, 04:00:15 PM
I love the design but $37.5 shipped is a bit steep. Let us know if you find another supplier/printer.

Sometimes you can find t-shirts shipped for a third of your price. I don't know how they do it however...

I definitely will, I'm working out the details. Thanks for the support!

Definitely agree with that.
An additional 50% for shipping is a lot. I was hoping to buy a larger amount and have a single shipping price (to buy 3-4 of them Smiley )

Aside from occasional shameless self promotion , he's a really trustworthy guy Wink

G2A doesn't hold much for a steam user , as far as I can see, most prices are much higher than prices you see during steam sales.

The steam gift cards seem like a great place to start. I'm pretty sure a lot of Bitcoin users will be interested in it during the Winter/Summer Sales. The 15$ CD key seems rather cheap at 14.75$ currently , it would be great to see how much you can offer on it.
I am willing to charge $12 for a $15 Steam Card.
Please let me know if you are interested.
I would like to business with you with an escrow of your choice.
Thanks!

What about 5$ and 60$ cards ?
I may purchase some after a couple of weeks as I'm busy at the moment.

If I'm buying the 15$/5$ card, I'll go first, no need for an escrow.
