got my batch 5 today, all setup & running well... just wanna share & i think most would've noticed the slots on the sides of the miners.

slotted 2 x batch 5 with my batch 3, just like a lego block. makes it more sturdy. like the housing.

all of them hash as advertised, stock. all pcie's connected from 4000W psu. not gonna touch anything till the 90 days warranty passes.

temps are at mid 50's. very low HW error. 0.0001%

the hashrate does jump around quite a bit but avg's out to the advertised hashrate.

1 of the batch 5 has a woong woong woong fan sound if fan is above 60% .. tried to loosen & tighten front n back fans, no fix.

another batch 5 controller has no green LED light but it works fine so i'm not gonna make a fuss or touch anything. the LED next to the red LED near to LAN port.

other than that, pretty happy. no warm cables (16 AWG custom made) or so.

can't wait to see more ideas when the 90days warranty passes. i'm sure lots of guys here are trying something & doing innovative stuff yeah ?

FW is stock sep 15. i think i saw some guys updated the OCT FW. any difference ?

waiting on the data cable to save a controller board. hooking up 2 in 1 when cables arrive.

regarding ROI .. yes it's tough & NOT impossible at this stage but later, yes but depending on individuals .... i;m gonna mine the the chips, board, etc melts away so i think i'm gonna hit ROI & prolly a lil' profit.

buy BTC or miner almost the same imo, we all want BTC go up !

post your temps ?

i find that it works best @ 60 deg C

Mine generally ran at 48 to 54 C. So it's been easier to keep it at lower temps than the S5s.

unfrotunately climate over here ain;t that cold .. sob sob

so far lowest on a rainy evening will drop them to around mid 50's

home mining days are going or gone, sad to say it but it;s just the truth.

at my part of the world i get 240V just like uk so a tad better.

still no techies to reply my earlier posts ?

i bet that certain miners can be oc'ed safely, some partially & some can't be oc'ed. i got a feeling that it's related to production hence the different batches with different clocks.

what' the max freq to oc safely ? hmmmmm

i thought over 625mhz is in the danger zone but now voila 700mhz. it's pretty dependent on the input voltages via pcie. make sure it's +12V or more if considering to OC any of the s7's. i still run mine at stock speed.

Typical hash rate and power

Voltage(V) Hash Rate(GH/S) Current(A) Total power(W) W/GH
0.71             38.75                14.350     10.189            0.263
0.66             32.50                10.760      7.102             0.219

hmmm Huh?

B7 - 162 chips - 1278W - Rated Voltage: 12.0V+5%, should not be less than 12.0V

B8 - 135 chips - 1293W - Rated Voltage: 11.60 ~13.00V

what's going on ? techies, chime in

could be a typo at BMT side ?

it's a 1 month ahead pre-order minimum !!! i'd say 5 weeks when u place order & send your btc to bmt

B5 shipped. earlier than expected. hmmmm but the no more b7
688  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: November 17, 2015, 02:55:54 PM
almost impossible to ROI (before halving) @ current btc price with such high % diff jump.

PLEASE add in : miner + psu + shipping costs + tax + elec cost (if any) + ISP + Setup costs (if any) + DIFFICULTY ! many forget to add in DIFFICULTY ! next jump is over 10%

even with avg +5% diff jump @ current prices - (pool luck + variance . . . one will almost NEVER get 100% all the time) + FREE power = VERY long time to ROI & NOT to mention halving.

with the math above i am seeing above 200 days range MINIMUM.

btc price @ 334 USD , free internet, 0 breakdowns, USD 150 for shipping & psu, 0 tax, FREE power, pool fee of 2.5% (PPS), 0 setup + maint. costs.

I'm NOT trying to discourage but please do your math.

best part is that you WILL NOT get your miner until shipped & the delivery man knocks on your door so add in a -15% lost due to diff jump till the time you plug it in & start mining.
689  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BITMAIN Order Cancelation on: November 17, 2015, 08:55:47 AM
bottom of your order page u can change the shipping address. by doing this you can sell the miners to someone else n recoup the btc u paid. pm me if u are interested.
690  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BITMAIN announces Antpool on: November 17, 2015, 03:19:34 AM
How long do you have to have a miner running to actually see results on Antpool's Dashboard? Out of the other pools I've used Antpool is giving me quite the headache...
I'm not seeing a worker as active even though it's on the list when I select "all." I'm also not seeing a hashrate on the chart.

about 20 mins you should see "something" within the hour you should see full hashrate. just wait a bit.
691  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: How to increase Accepted, and lower Rejected, Discarded ? on: November 17, 2015, 03:14:40 AM
My discard and accepted value seems to be around the same amount.... i worry if there's something amiss with my network connection?
Meaning the miner could have been able to take more request but not able to because the internet connection is not fast enough.
My password is default so no vardiff settings there. Temp is within threshold. My S7s are hashing fine and 600mhz.
Didn't I just say discarded is irrelevant? Fine, ignore the person who wrote the software you're using.

i IGNORE u CK meh ....... ;P

thx for the correct explanation, i was just looking around . . .

btw on topic, can someone explain HW error in detail ? sometimes i just see like 100 but the %age is at 0 & on some other miner it is like 1000-3000 HW error. i'm sure the lower the better.

Today we had our scheduled 3 month cleaning activity. Since we recently installed a high power pump on our cooling system, we decided to clean our dirty girls with horse-grade shampoo and industrial compressed air (life on the farm is very dirty).

WARNING: DO NOT TRY THIS AT YOUR FARM!

Before:

After:

Lots of bubbles:

Wow, this difference between before and after is huge, good job, they look brand new again!

I use a bottle of everclear. Works wonders!

may i know how you clean the miners ?

use compressed air to blow the dust then spray the electrical cleaner into it n blow again ?

i have some really dusty miners !!!

thx for sharing & nice setup.
693  Other / Archival / Re: Pictures of your mining rigs! on: November 17, 2015, 03:09:04 AM
Anyone use duct hose to expel the heat from multiple S1-S2-S4-S5-S7 miners out a window?
Looking for pictures/ideas. I know there must be someone that has done it.

suck better than blow ?

Actually thinking about the same thing and will be heading to lowes tomorrow afternoon. I'll post an update when I get started.

This is what I'm thinking. Lining up all the Sx's in a row, side by side and just cut a hole in the side of the duct host and put the miner output right in there. With a push from a small fan it should direct all the air flow right out or where I want it. Sorry for the terrible representation. Basically just need one long hose and some cheap thermal tape to close the gaps. Don't really care what it looks like.

they will most likely ask you to send it back to them & declare it at USD 20 & won;t know the repair cost of timeframe till they receive it. but i hope for better results. sorry to hear baout that.

i think the culprit is more likely towards a bad psu ? or it could just be a few bad ones but all 3 dead not good & can't be that random ?
695  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: November 17, 2015, 01:44:10 AM
back to topic?

23rd Nov shipping is batch 5 ... so batch 4 is on time not that much ahead IMO.
696  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: November 16, 2015, 05:05:57 PM
looks like it's ahead of the given date ?

let's hope BMT improves on shipping & release another batch soon.

spike is also from bitfury. they decided to power up more miners eh ?

nothing on batch 5 yet. let's see how it goes.
697  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: November 16, 2015, 02:41:05 PM

regardless of calculations, 1st 1 MUST hit a block then talk, till then start talking abt splitting the block

no block no talk sadly
